Tottenham have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Newcastle United star striker Alexander Isak.

While the North London club are looking to strengthen their squad as a whole, there is a priority to bring in a world-class forward who can lead the line. Newcastle’s Alexander Isak who was exceptional last season is one of the names on their wishlist.

Tottenham have been keen on signing him this summer but according to a report from Football Insider, Newcastle consider him to be ‘untouchable’. They have no intentions of parting ways with the Swedish international who has only gone from strength to strength since joining them in the summer of 2022.

Last season, the 24-year-old scored 21 goals in the Premier League and was behind only Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer in the scoring charts. He could have been a sensational signing for Spurs who are in desperate need of a new number nine.

While they decided against signing a replacement for Harry Kane last summer, Ange Postecoglou wants a world-class striker to lead the line next season. It will give them more firepower and also allow Son Heung-min to feature on his preferred left flank.

Isak could have been the perfect signing for them but they will have to look elsewhere with Newcastle and Eddie Howe taking a firm stance on the Swedish striker’s future.

The Magpies have already dealt with their financial issues related to PSR and they are no longer in need of selling players to raise funds. As a result, they fully expect Isak to be playing for them beyond the transfer window’s deadline.
