Ben Jacobs believes Tottenham have an advantage in their pursuit of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

Eze has had an exceptional rise at Crystal Palace. He has established himself as one of the mainstays of the team and his consistent performances helped him be a part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad that lost the final of Euro 2024. His work hasn’t gone unnoticed and multiple top clubs want to prise him away from the Eagles this summer.

Tottenham are one of the clubs that have been linked with the 26-year-old attacking midfielder. While Jacobs feels signing him won’t be that straightforward, he suggested that Spurs do have an advantage in their pursuit while speaking to GIVEMESPORT.

He said: “Spurs have Eberechi Eze on their list of options, but any deal is complicated. Eze has a £60m release clause which, like Michael Olise’s one was, is not routine to trigger.

“Percentages of it go to Crystal Palace, QPR (Eze’s former club) and the player himself. I’m told Eze ideally wants to stay in London, which is good news for Spurs, and even Arsenal should they enter the race.”

Ange Postecoglou is keen on having more firepower in the final third of the pitch. While the priority is to sign a world-class number nine, he seeks more depth on the flanks and Eze could be a great fit for his system. Not only will the English international compete with James Maddison for a place in the starting XI, but he will also give them a quality option on either flank.

Last season, he had 11 goals and six assists in his 31 outings. He has been doing great both in the number 10 role and out wide on the flanks. Spurs have him on their wishlist and would love to add him to their squad but they are not going to find it easy to bring him to North London.

A percentage of his release clause is pledged to his former club QPR and the player himself. Signing him might not be a cakewalk but Spurs do have an advantage as Eze wants to continue in London if he does decide to leave Crystal Palace.
