A report has shed light on what the feeling at Tottenham Hotspur is about Mathys Tel’s difficult start to life at the club and what the club’s plans are about potentially signing the forward permanently this summer.
Ange Postecoglou would have been hoping that Tel’s arrival in January would have added attacking impetus to Spurs and made his side more dangerous in the final third, but that has not happened so far.
The Frenchman is yet to showcase his best in a Tottenham shirt and has even struggled to get into the team’s starting eleven of late.
However, despite the 19-year-old’s struggles, the feeling at Hotspur Way about the player and his potential remains very positive, according to a fresh update.
Tottenham plan on triggering Mathys Tel option
GiveMeSport say that as things stand, Spurs are very much on course to trigger their £45m option to buy Tel at the end of the season.
The North London club want to keep the forward at N17 beyond the end of the season as there is a ‘strong belief’ among the club’s decision-makers that it will prove money well spent.
Even though the Spurs hierarchy acknowledges that Tel has endured a difficult period in his first couple of months at the club, they are ‘adamant’ that he fits the profile they want on board.

While the Lilywhites have not made a final decision on the on-loan Bayern man, they are leaning towards keeping him and there is ‘increasing confidence’ that his form will improve.
Spurs see Tel as their heir to Heung-min Son
GiveMeSport say that there remains a possibility that Tottenham will cash in on Son, who has just one year left on his current deal.
The club have reportedly earmarked Tel as a potential long-term successor to their captain on the left as they feel that the Frenchman has the qualities to fill the South Korean’s shoes.
The publication adds that influential figures at Tottenham are certain that the youngster will ‘fit seamlessly into their first-choice starting line-up’ over time.
