Tottenham Hotspur have the opportunity to bolster their ranks before the end of the January transfer window. They can also let some players head out the exit door too before the deadline on Monday 3rd February.

It has been a tough season so far for the London club. They are in the bottom half and will want to rise up the table over the coming weeks.

Ange Postecoglou was appointed as their manager back in 2023. Prior to his move to England, he caught the eye up in Scotland with Celtic.

Tottenham Hotspur admirers of Sverre Nypan

Spurs are showing an ‘interest’ in Sverre Nypan at Rosenborg, according to TBR Football. The likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Brighton and Hove Albion have also been credited with an interest, along with Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and Ajax in Europe.

Postecoglou could see the youngster as someone to bolster his midfield ranks. If he did land him, he would be a useful player down the line.

Nypan, who is 18-years-old, is being tipped for a bright future in the game and his current club will face a battle to keep hold of him amid interest from England and elsewhere. He joined them back in 2020 from Nardo and hasn’t looked back since.

He penned his first professional deal with Rosenborg back in 2022 and was handed an extension only a matter of months after that. The youngster has become a key player for their first-team and has made 60 appearances in all competitions so far, chipping in with 13 goals.

Spurs face competition though and back in December, reporter Graeme Bailey told United in Focus about Manchester United’s links : “It’s coming to January now and his club are pushing him for a decision. That is what I am hearing at the moment. Rosenborg are hoping for a breakthrough. Rosenborg want to know what’s happening.

“They’re hopeful, I would expect something in the next couple of weeks. I imagine we will know by early January if he is going to move, which all indications are he will.”

What now for Tottenham Hotspur?

Despite their tricky campaign to date, Postecoglou has insisted that his side are excited for the rest of this term: “We’re deep in one competition, we’re in the knockout stages of another and further along in the FA Cup. It’s not like it’s just the league and we have to get some results in the league to brighten us up. We need to get some results in the league because where we are is unacceptable. But there is still plenty to play for and it’s exciting.

“I think they all sense that as well and they want us to get through this period so we can tackle the exciting part of the season in the best shape possible.”

He added: “They (the supporters) play their part – I thought the fans were great last night to help the players on. Most fans understand the situation that we are in and they are probably not happy with but they can probably see the potential.

“Our job is to try and produce consistency in our league performances that hopefully alleviates some of the negativeness around the club at the moment. Hopefully, we can look forward to an exciting few months ahead.”
