The recent round of FA Cup fixtures is evidence that Tottenham should be looking at landing Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner instead of Fulham's Marco Silva.

The Cottagers and the Eagles went head-to-head in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday, and despite the former side holding home advantage, it was the visitors who ran riot with an emphatic 3-0 victory. It was previously revealed that Silva was the "top" option for Spurs in their search for a new head coach, but the Portuguese tactician was comfortably outclassed by Glasner in their encounter.

Amid Postecoglou's dismal form, the Lilywhites would be wise to switch their attention from West London to South if they are interested in hiring the better manager.

Spurs must appoint the Austrian to replace Postecoglou

It's no secret that Postecoglou has been treading on thin ice this term, having left his side languishing in 14th in the Premier League table, ten points away from the top half. Tottenham are not expected to rush to a final decision on his future just yet, as Fabrizio Romano revealed in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, but they have nonetheless considered their options.

The likes of Silva and Andoni Iraola have been tipped to take over the Greek-Australian custodian, but Spurs' best option is at Selhurst Park instead.

Previously dubbed "incredible", Glasner arrived at Crystal Palace in February 2024 and his impact was immediate. He navigated his side to a top-half finish for the second time in their Premier League history, amassing a total points tally of 49 - their joint-highest ever in the competition.

This season saw the 50-year-old set off to a slow start, but he has recovered well since the turn of the year. Palace have lost just twice in 13 outings in all competitions since January, winning all the other eleven.

Glasner has worked his magic with minimal help from his club's recruitment team - Crystal Palace rank fourth for the best net spend of the 2024/25 campaign of all top-flight teams, with that including the big-name departures of Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen.

Tottenham haven't had the best luck in recent transfer windows, but Glasner is the sort of manager capable of maximising what he has available to him. However, the North Londoners must move quickly as Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig have been poised to make a move for the Palace manager's services.
