Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan are reportedly nearing an agreement for the transfer of Emerson Royal, with just €1 million separating the two clubs.
According to CalcioMercato, Milan have intensified their efforts to sign the Brazilian full-back following a knee injury to their defender Alessandro Florenzi and sees Emerson as a fitting replacement.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Milan’s latest offer stands at €14 million plus €4 million in add-ons, which is slightly below Spurs’ asking price in both guaranteed and bonus payments.
Initially, Tottenham valued Emerson at €20 million but have since lowered their asking price to €15 million, plus €5m in add-ons, to facilitate the transfer. This means, the two clubs are just €1m away from striking a deal.
This reduction indicates the Lilywhites’ intent to offload Emerson, who does not fit into manager Ange Postecoglou’s future plans.
Emerson, who joined Spurs from Barcelona in the summer of 2021 for €25 million, has struggled to secure a regular starting position. He made just 11 Premier League starts last season, underscoring his limited role in the team.
With the deal on the brink of completion, Tottenham will be eager to reinvest the money into strengthening the squad for the upcoming season.
This transfer is seen as a strategic move to streamline the squad and provide the financial boost needed for further signings.
