Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou could be looking nervously over his shoulder when it comes to his future, per reports in Germany - with Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner seemingly on their shortlist. And they could trump other teams to his signature, by being able to offer a higher wage than teams such as RB Leipzig.
Postecoglou has Tottenham in 14th in the Premier League, recording just 37 points in 31 games - and that could see them opt for a new manager next season, with Glasner seemingly on their shortlist.
Report: Tottenham 'Can Offer Most' to Win Glasner Race
The London club could trump RB Leipzig to his signature
The report by Sportbild (via Sport Witness) states that Glasner remains a candidate to become Tottenham's new boss - and their trump card is that they can 'offer a higher salary' than fellow interested club, RB Leipzig.
The German outfit recently sacked boss Marco Rose, after a below-par campaign in the Champions League saw them dumped out with one of the worst records in the tournament via seven losses from eight games. Furthermore, a rancid run of form in the Bundesliga, which saw them win just one game in nine, means that Champions League qualification is also in the balance.
They have shortlisted Glasner as a potential incoming, alongside Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl, who is a 'more serious' candidate for Leipzig. But Glasner might not be keen to leave Palace for the German outfit, especially with new 'Head of Global Soccer' Jurgen Klopp having his input throughout the club which could give him a 'perceived lack of power'.
That has opened the door massively for Spurs, and the German media have touted them as a potential problem in terms of Leipzig's bid.
Tottenham haven't had a great second season under Postecoglou and their hopes will now rely on any success in the Europa League, with Eintracht Frankfurt to come over two legs. But if the Aussie can't oust the German outfit, he could be on his way out of the club - and Tottenham being able to offer a 'higher salary' than Leipzig for Glasner's services could signify a huge change in London.
Glasner's Palace Form is Remarkable
The Eagles have become incredibly tough to beat
Glasner has massively impressed in his time at Palace. Taking the club from the bottom-half last season, where they had just 24 points from 24 games under Roy Hodgson, Palace finished the campaign by doubling their points tally under the Austrian boss in an outstanding 10 fewer games - including six wins from seven to finish the campaign.
A slower start to this season saw Palace towards the foot of the league, and they were in the relegation zone after 12 games - but having lost to Fulham in early November, they've only suffered defeat in the league three times since - with no away defeats coming since mid-October.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Oliver Glasner has won 18 of his 38 games for Palace this season.
Their poor start has now seen them make ground on the top-half again, just two points behind Bournemouth in 10th - and they could even record a European place. Sitting five points behind eighth-placed Fulham, anyone in that cohort will garner a continental spot at the end of the campaign if Newcastle United finish in the top eight after their League Cup win.
