Tottenham’s chances of keeping Pedro Porro at the club may have just been boosted as Florian Plettenberg provides an update on Real Madrid’s transfer plans.
Porro on Real Madrid’s radar
Porro has emerged as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League since Ange Postecoglou arrived through the door at Tottenham.
Unsurprisingly, the 25-year-old is now thought to have caught the attention of Europe’s elite clubs, with Real Madrid said to be keeping an eye on his situation.
It was reported by CaughtOffside earlier this month that the Los Blancos view the Tottenham man as the potential long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.
Potential boost for Spurs?
However, Florian Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that Carlo Ancelotti’s men have identified another alternative right-back target.
The German journalist states that Madrid are now monitoring the situation of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong for next summer.
He explains that with the 23-year-old having a release clause of €40m (£33.4m) in his contract, it would be a straightforward deal for Los Blancos to pull off.

Spurs will not be sweating over Porro
Porro’s recent comments about being ‘proud’ of the speculation linking him to Real Madrid (Relevo) might concern Spurs fans.
However, the right-back is protected by a long-term deal which runs until 2028, which is why the Tottenham hierarchy will not be losing any sleep over Madrid’s interest.
The Spanish club will almost certainly be priced out of a deal if they come in for the Spurs right-back in January or next summer.
