Nev: Why it's right Ten Hag is staying
Man Utd legend and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has given his thoughts on the decision to keep Erik Ten Hag as manager.
After a post-season review, Ten Hag was given the blessing of new co-owners INEOS to continue in his role, though he has since admitted he was aware they had held talks with Thomas Tuchel about potentially taking over.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Neville said the stability Ten Hag offered was a positive amid so much other change around Old Trafford.
He said: "It's one of those that's not perfect, waiting two and a half weeks after the end of the season, and quite obviously flirting with other managers in the mean time.
But I believe because he had such a disappointing season in the league, the club were well within their rights to be able to see what was out there in the market.
But as we all know, the manager market has been quite difficult for a number of top clubs in Europe, and I'm happy they're maintained that stability into next season.
I think they've come to the right conclusion, but they were within their rights to look at other options.
The fact Ten Hag knows they looked at other options is not ideal, but he's got to accept when you finished where they did, there is a chance you could lose your job - so he should be happy, the club should be happy.
The big thing for me is looking at Man Utd changing owners, sporting director, CEO, technical director and CFO, the five or six major positions, to have some stability in the football side is a sensible thing.
It allows those people not in the club yet to build the foundations underneath the football side.
Having to settle in a new manager in at the same time would've been more difficult. Any new manager would've said they wanted to look at the playing staff, they'd want new players, a transfer budget which Man Utd don't quite have at the moment because of PSR.
It's a sensible thing for the club, and the right thing for Erik Ten Hag.

Napoli insist Kvaratskhelia is not for sale after his agent claims he wants to leave club
Napoli insist Georgia star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is not for sale after his agent said the winger wants to leave the club this summer.
The 23-year-old's agent Mamuka Jugeli revealed his client wants to join a Champions League side.
Jugeli said on the eve of Georgia's Euro 2024 opener against Turkey: "We want to leave Naples, but we are waiting for the end of the European Championship first.
"Our priority is to move to a team that plays in the Champions League.
"With (Antonio) Conte, Napoli undoubtedly has big plans. I am sure that they will qualify for the Champions League and that they will still fight for the Scudetto, but this does not mean that Kvaratskhelia wants to stay.
"Worse is that if he stays at Napoli, Khvicha will lose a year. We are worried ."
But Napoli are not willing to sell Kvaratskhelia and issued a statement to clarify their position over his future.
Napoli posted on X late on Sunday night: "In reference to the statements of Kvaratskhelia's agent, Mamuka Jugeli, and his father Badri, Napoli reiterates that the player has a contract for another three years with the club.
"Kvaratskhelia is not on the market. It is not the agents or fathers who decide the future of a player under contract with Napoli but the Napoli club!!! End of the story."
Sky in Italy understand the Serie A side have already rejected an £84.6m (€100m) from Paris Saint-Germain for Kvaratskhelia.

Ten Hag aware of Tuchel talks: 'Man Utd decided they had the best trainer'
Erik ten Hag has publicly admitted that he is aware talks took place between Manchester United and other managers, including Thomas Tuchel.
Ten Hag, who found out this week he would remain United boss for the 2024/25 season and is now set to sign a new contract, appeared on Dutch television as a pundit ahead of England's Euro 2024 opener with Serbia.
Speaking to broadcaster NPO, the 54-year-old said: "Everyone has heard that they have spoken to several candidates. That's no secret.
"In the Netherlands that is not done. You are not even allowed to talk to another club if there is a current trainer there. But in England the rules and laws are different.
"In the end, they came to the conclusion that they have the best trainer."
Ten Hag had been on holiday in Ibiza when his future was settled, with INEOS deciding the Dutchman was the right man to lead the club forward following a post-season review.
"As in any organisation, there is an evaluation and that seems very sensible to me," Ten Hag said.
"We had a good discussion and various topics were discussed. One of the conclusions is that we will extend the contract, but we still have to reach an agreement."
