Transfer news LIVE!

Arsenal remain in talks over Mikel Merino as they attempt to seal their latest major summer signing. The Gunners have already seen one bid for the Spain midfielder rejected by Real Sociedad, but a fresh offer is now expected with sporting director Edu having personally travelled to secure a deal. Arsenal have also been linked with other potential new attackers including Viktor Gyokeres, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman and Victor Osimhen.

However, it is Chelsea who lead the race for Osimhen, having re-entered talks with Napoli as the Serie A giants again attempt to engineer a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku. Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, apparently want to sign off on Joao Felix’s shock return to Stamford Bridge by next Wednesday in a move that would finally allow Conor Gallagher to complete his switch to LaLiga. Chelsea are also focused on exits, with Lesley Ugochukwu set for Southampton.

Marc Guehi to Newcastle latest

Here’s the latest from Standard Sport’s Dom Smith on Newcastle refusing to give up on Marc Guehi...

Newcastle have lodged a fourth bid for Marc Guehi, but the offer still falls short of Crystal Palace’s £65m valuation.

Palace have been steadfast in sticking to their asking price for Guehi, recently rejecting Newcastle’s third offer which was worth £55m plus a further £5m in add-ons.

Despite failing to meet Palace’s demands, Newcastle are understood to be confident in brokering a deal for Guehi.

The bid was not immediately rejected and negotiations between Palace chairman Steve Parish and Paul Mitchell, Newcastle’s sporting director, are ongoing.

Man United approach Nottingham Forest over Danilo deal

Manchester United are said to be interested in a deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo.

The Red Devils are on the hunt for reinforcements in the middle of the pitch and have so far failed to secure a deal for Manuel Ugarte at PSG.

According to TNT Sports, United have now joined AC Milan in lodging an enquiry over Danilo.

Forest are described as being open to the potential sale of the 23-year-old Brazilian, despite having only signed him from Palmeiras in a £16m deal last summer.

But they would apparently demand more than £34m for a player previously linked with Arsenal.

Newcastle submit fourth Marc Guehi bid

Newcastle will not give up on their pursuit of Marc Guehi.

The Magpies have already failed with three bids so far this summer for the England defender, with the latest worth £55m up front plus a further £5m in add-ons dismissed by Crystal Palace earlier this week.

Now Newcastle have quickly returned with a fourth bid that is said to be closer to Palace’s minimum £65m valuation of Guehi, according to the Daily Mail.

Palace are said to be considering the latest offer and haven’t rebuffed it out of hand, with others having said they won’t accept less than £70m.

Tottenham target late summer swoop for Vanderson

Tottenham are pondering a late summer swoop for Vanderson, reports suggest.

Spurs splashed the cash last week to sign striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for a cool £65m, having already brought in the likes of teenage trio Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Yang Min-hyuk so far in this transfer window.

But they may have one more key signing to go, with GiveMeSport reporting that they have not ruled out a late move for Monaco wing-back Vanderson.

Apparently there remain doubts over Djed Spence as a back-up option to Pedro Porro, with Emerson Royal having recently left for AC Milan in a deal worth £13m.

But Spurs face having to pay over £34m for Vanderson.

Man United search for new Manuel Ugarte solution

Manchester United appear to remain intent on signing Manuel Ugarte before the summer transfer window closes for business in two weeks’ time.

The Red Devils have long since been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the Uruguay international midfielder, who is allowed to leave the French capital just one year after completing a €60m move from Sporting Lisbon.

However, so far an agreement has yet to be reached, with United unwilling to pay PSG’s asking price of approximately £51m as the latter look to recoup what they paid last summer.

A potential swap deal involving Jadon Sancho now looks to be firmly off the table, while United - who could offload Scott McTominay to Napoli - continue to be linked with the likes of Burnley’s Sander Berge with another alternative in Youssouf Fofana seemingly on his way to AC Milan from Monaco.

According to Fabrizio Romano, they are still fully focused on Ugarte, who wants to move to Old Trafford and is eager for a solution to be reached as soon as possible.

Chelsea handed deadline to complete Joao Felix deal

Chelsea may now have been set a deadline in order to complete the shock return of Joao Felix to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have turned to their former loanee as a potential new attacking solution having seen a £34.5m swoop for Atletico Madrid team-mate Samu Omorodion collapse at the 11th hour last weekend.

New talks with Atletico have been ongoing this week, with Chelsea looking to strike a permanent deal for Felix worth around £40m.

The LaLiga side need the move to go through to complete their own £33m switch for England midfielder Conor Gallagher, who has now returned to London as his frustrating waiting game continues.

According to Spanish publication AS, Atletico want everything wrapped up with Felix and Gallagher by next Wednesday.

The clock is ticking!

Chelsea ready to make Victor Osimhen move

Chelsea remain in discussions with Napoli over Victor Osimhen.

The Blues have been offered the Nigerian striker as the Serie A giants again seek a part-exchange deal that would see Romelu Lukaku reunited with former boss Antonio Conte back in Serie A.

According to the latest update from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are ready to move for Osimhen soon, having always still had an eye on signing him even with their moves for Atletico Madrid pair Samu Omorodion and Joao Felix.

However, he adds that the 25-year-old only wants a permanent move - not a loan - and will not lower his €11m-per-year salary.

Arsenal handed new Mikel Merino boost

Arsenal are continuing talks over a deal for Mikel Merino.

The Gunners are now stepping up their chase for the Real Sociedad midfielder, having already seen one bid rejected after sporting director Edu personally travelled out to Spain in order to seal the signing.

The BBC report that discussions between the clubs are ongoing, while others claim that there is currently an £8.5m difference in their respective valuations of Merino, who is out of contract at Anoeta next summer and has already rejected the offer of an extension in a boost to Arsenal.

It is apparently deemed unlikely that Spain’s Euro 2024 winner will play any part for Sociedad this weekend as they open the new LaLiga season at home to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday evening.

That would surely be more good news for Arsenal.

Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Guehi's futures intertwined

Newcastle are the latest club to throw their hat in the ring for Trevoh Chalobah.

The Magpies have seen multiple bids for Marc Guehi knocked back and will turn to the Chelsea man if they fail to sign Crystal Palace’s captain, so say TeamTALK.

Chalobah is unwanted at Stamford Bridge and has been linked with Aston Villa, Fulham and Palace, who see him as a potential replacement for Guehi should they accept an offer from Newcastle.

It appears that wherever Guehi doesn’t go, Chalobah will end up!

Chelsea midfielder set for Southampton stay

Lesley Ugochukwu is reportedly on the verge of leaving Chelsea on loan.

Southampton have agreed to sign the French midfielder after impressing Chelsea with their tactical setup and philosophy, according to The Athletic.

No buy option in this one, the Blues want Ugochukwu to be part of their long-term plan apparently.
