Tottenham Hotspur return to Europe as they prepare to face Hungarian outfit Ferencvárosi Budapest on October 3 from the Groupama Aréna, which kicks off at 8PM. The Lilywhites are on an impressive four-game unbeaten run, clamping down Manchester United with a 0-3 win at Old Trafford, and having defeated Qarabag in their opening Europa League match, Ange Postecoglou’s men will be looking to take a big step towards qualification with another win. Here’s the Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup for the clash.

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup As The Lilywhites Visit Budapest

How Tottenham Hotspur Have Lined-Up Recently

Postecoglou’s charges have been impressive so far, with four back-to-back wins in four games, including a huge 0-3 triumph against The Red Devils at Old Trafford. It’s been an incredible start to the season for Guglielmo Vicario, who secured his third clean sheet at the weekend, and remained the first choice between the sticks.

Postecoglou lined up his favoured defenders in front of the Italian with Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie at the fullback positions, while Cristian Romero was partnered with Micky van de Ven who stood out with an impressive run from the back, placing it on a plate for Brennan Johnson to finish.

Dejan Kulusevski shone in midfield scoring his first goal of the season, playing alongside James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr in midfield. Johnson’s goal-scoring run continued, with the Welshman registering four goals in his last four outings for Spurs. The 23-year-old played on the right flank, Timo Werner replaced club captain Son Heung-Min on the left while Dominic Solanke led the charge.

Tottenham Hotspur Recent Form and Tactics

They are currently on a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions, beating the likes of Manchester United and Brentford in the Premier League, overcoming Azerbaijan outfit Qarabag in the Europa League and escaping a narrow win against Coventry in the Carabao Cup. A huge takeaway from these matches is 23-year-old Johnson, who has scored in all four fixtures and will be looking to continue his goal-scoring run against Ferencváros.

Van de Ven has also been impressive, especially in the game at Old Trafford, where the Dutchman completed a 70-yard run to assist Johnson, scoring the first goal of the match in three minutes. Thursday’s game would be the first-ever meeting between Ferencvárosi and the Lilywhites, and also Tottenham’s first-ever game against a Hungarian opponent.

Tottenham Hotspur Injuries and Suspensions To Consider

Club captain Son was absent for the match at Old Trafford after he went down in apparent discomfort before being substituted in Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Qarabag. Postecoglou hoped the South Korean would make it, but later stated that “he just wasn’t right for it“. The Australian continued: “Yes, but we’ve had to suffer those things a fair bit during my time here, key players missing out, and you have to learn to cope without them.”

They also have another injury scare in fullback Udogie. The 21-year-old pulled up feeling his left quadricep after a bursting run down the left-hand side around the half-hour mark at Old Trafford. He was substituted off in the second half with Postecoglou hinting that was a ‘precautionary‘ move. Richarlison’s return is still unknown, while Wilson Odobert has suffered a hamstring injury which could rule him out for six weeks. Radu Dragusin is suspended for Thursday’s game.

How Tottenham Hotspur Have Lined-Up Recently

The Lilywhites hosted Azerbaijan outfit Qarabag on September 26 as they begun their Europa League campaign. Head Coach Ange Postecoglou made six changes from the side that triumphed over Thomas Frank’s Brentford in an exciting 3-1 win. Guglielmo Vicario remained between the sticks and delivered, with an astounding performance for Spurs, facing five shots and saving all, earning the Italian goalkeeper his second clean sheet across all competitions.

Three changes were made in the defensive line in front of him, with Archie Gray and Ben Davies coming in at the fullback positions, while Micky van de Ven being the only unchanged defender was partnered with Romanian centre-back Radu Dragusin at the heart of the Spurs defence. Postecoglou completely rebuilt the midfield with Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma who seems to be back in full fitness and 18-year-old Lucas Bergvall in the middle of the park.

However, the Swedish international’s game was cut short after 12 minutes following a red card offence by Dragusin prompting Postecoglou to bring on Destiny Udogie. The front line remained unchanged with Brennan Johnson and club captain Son Heung-Min on the flanks, while Dominic Solanke led the charge.

Tottenham Hotspur Recent Form and Tactics

Tottenham Hotspur’s recent form has been a rollercoaster, showing moments of brilliance and struggle. They had impressive wins in the Europa League and against Brentford, but also faced challenges, including a loss to Arsenal and Newcastle.

Overall, their form has been a mix of highs and lows, emphasizing the need for consistency as the season progresses.

Tottenham Hotspur Injuries To Consider

Club captain Son Heung-Min faces a late fitness test after coming off after 71 minutes in the match against Qarabag. Postecoglou stated via Spurs official website that it’s not too bad with the South Korean ahead of their clash at Old Trafford. “He wants to train tomorrow so we’ll see how he goes at training and make a decision from there,” the Australian added. Both Richarlison and Wilson Odobert’s return dates are unknown.

After two consecutive draws against Crystal Palace and FC Twente in the Premier League and Europa League respectively, Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways against Ange Postecoglu’s Tottenham Hotspur side at Old Trafford this Sunday, September 29. Kick off is at 4.30PM. Here is the Manchester United predicted lineup for the clash.

Manchester United Predicted Lineup for Old Trafford Clash vs Tottenham Hotspur

How Manchester United Have Lined Up Recently

Manchester United have persisted with a 4-2-3-1 formation this season, with André Onana playing every game bar the Barnsley Carabao Cup tie in goal.

The defence has consisted of Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt, Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot, with Harry Maguire rotating in for the Dutchman in Wednesday’s Europa League draw with Dutch outfit Twente.

Christian Eriksen has been a regular at the base of midfield of late, alongside Kobbie Mainoo or Manuel Ugarte, the latter rotating in for the Europa League stalemate.

In attacking midfield, Amad Diallo has carved out his position on the right wing, with Bruno Fernandes ever-present in the number 10 role. On the left, Marcus Rashford has made a positive start to the current campaign, with Alejandro Garnacho coming off the bench as an impact substitute and replacing Rashford in the starting lineup against Twente.

Joshua Zirkzee has been operating as the number 9 in the absence of Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

On paper, the Red Devils have made a mixed start to the season, with two league wins and a draw in five games thus far added to a convincing Carabao Cup win over League One Barnsley and a disappointing stalemate in Europe. With this being said, Erik ten Hag’s side have improved in both team structure and chances created this season, ranking third in the Premier League for xG created as well as big chances created.

With more control in possession and greater ease in constructing dangerous attacking moves, the issue this season has been finishing the numerous chances created. Indeed, the Red Devils have missed more big chances (17) than any other Premier League team this campaign, meaning that improved efficiency and a killer instinct could take this team right into top four contention as the season progresses.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

Luke Shaw (Calf) and Victor Lindelof (Ankle) are close to a comeback, with both potentially being involved in the matchday squad next weekend. Tyrell Malacia (Knee) and Lény Yoro (Ankle) are expected to return in mid-October and mid-November respectively.

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup Vs Brentford

How Tottenham Hotspur Have Lined Up Recently

The Lilywhites visited Coventry on September 18 for their Carabao Cup match, in which they edged past the Championship side in a narrow 1-2 win. Goals came from Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson, who came on as substitutes. Head coach Ange Postecoglou made eight changes from the side that succumbed to a 0-1 loss against North London rivals Arsenal.

Fraser Forster made his first appearance for Spurs since the second round of the Carabao Cup in August 2023, replacing Guglielmo Vicario between the sticks. The Englishman survived an early scare in the match, misplacing a pass to Lucas Bergvall which Coventry couldn’t convert.

The defensive line consisted of Destiny Udogie and Archie Gray as fullbacks on either flank, with Pedro Porro being rested for the Brentford game. Radu Dragusin was partnered with veteran Ben Davies who captained the side in their visit to Coventry. The midfield was also reshuffled with 18-year-old Bergvall making his first start for Spurs this season, after his impressive cameo against Arsenal. The Sweden international played alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr in the middle of the park.

Timo Werner was Postecoglou’s pick at the left flank, leaving out Son Heung-Min, making it the first time this season that the South Korean wasn’t in the Spurs starting lineup. ‘Exciting‘ teenager Wilson Odobert started the game but was taken off just after 18 minutes with a ‘significant’ injury. Dominic Solanke led the charge in attack but was eventually replaced by Son in the 62nd minute.

Tottenham’s Recent Form and Tactics

Spurs were aiming to extend their unbeaten run after a frustrating 1-1 draw against newly promoted Leicester City. Pedro Porro scored early in the first half, but they ultimately dropped points due to a trademark Jamie Vardy header in the 57th minute.

Postecoglou’s team bounced back with a 4-0 win at home against Everton, with Son, Romero, and Bissouma on the scoresheet. The Lilywhites hoped to secure another win with momentum from the previous game, but Newcastle ultimately edged past them with a narrow 2-1 victory.

A tough task awaited them as they faced North London rivals Arsenal. Despite a disappointing loss at St James’ Park, Postecoglou’s men gave the Gunners a tough battle but were ultimately outdone by a 64th-minute header from Gabriel.

Tottenham Injuries To Consider

French teenager Odobert was taken off after 18 minutes against Coventry with Postecoglou stating in the Spurs article that his injury is ‘fairly significant‘. Werner was also withdrawn from the Coventry game, as he was replaced by Dejan Kulusevski in the 74th minute.

“I’m not really sure (on the extent of the injuries at this stage). Both of them look like muscle injuries which is the way things are going for us – we’re getting multiple injuries in the same position”. He added: “We’ll see how they are. I think it looks like Wilson’s is a significant one. We’ll see how Timo is”.

Tottenham Hotspur hosts London rivals Arsenal hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2 -1 loss to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park. Here is Last Word on Sports’ Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup against the Gunners on the September 15.

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup Vs Arsenal in North London Derby

How Tottenham Hotspur Have Lined Up Recently

The Lilywhites will be looking to regain confidence after losing a point to a 78th-minute goal by Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, but it won’t be easy since they’re going up against title “favourites” Arsenal.

With the home advantage, head coach Ange Postecoglou will feel confident in his favoured 4-3-3 formation. Guglielmo Vicario has been excellent in goal so far, conceding just three goals in three games, including an impressive clean sheet in their 4-0 win against Everton. The defensive line in front of the Italian consists of Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie coming in at the fullback positions, while Radu Dragusin was recently paired with Cristian Romero who scored against Everton.

Although Micky van de Ven was present against The Toffees and managed to assist skipper Son Heung-min for the fourth goal of the game, the Dutch defender was completely absent in the lineup that lost against Newcastle. Postecoglou then stated that the 23-year-old sustained an injury, but it was “nothing serious” allowing him to hand Dragusin the starting spot.

There have been a lot of changes made in the midfield in the past three games, with James Maddison being the only midfielder who has been involved in all the previous lineups. Postecoglou will hope to get the best out of the Englishman seeing as he has registered two assists in his last three games. Against the Magpies, Maddison was partnered with Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr but was later replaced with Rodrigo Bentancur and Brennan Johnson. Son remained unchanged in the frontline, alongside Dejan Kulusevski while the latest signing Wilson Odobert was handed his second start for the Lilywhites.

Postecoglou’s men bounced back with a 4-0 thrashing at home against Everton with Son, Romero and Bissouma on the scoresheet. The Lilywhites hoped to secure another win with momentum from the previous game, but Newcastle ultimately edged past them with a narrow 2-1 victory.

Tottenham Injuries and Suspensions To Consider

Latest addition Dominic Solanke who has made his first and only appearance for Spurs so far against Leicester is one to look out for, seeing as Postecoglou stated that he is close to returning but didn’t want to take any chances with the recently concluded international break. Another blow to Tottenham’s frontline is Richarlison, ruled out by a muscle injury. The Brazilian international came on for Odobert against the Toffees and played about roughly twenty minutes, with Postecoglou describing him as a “handful”.

Players like Sarr returned from international duty in good shape, but the same can’t be said for Bissouma as he was taken off following a heavy tackle. The Mali international scored the first and only goal of the game in their clash against Eswatini in the first half, but limped off in the second half after 65 minutes.

Tottenham Hotspur will feel confident despite a difficult trip to St James’ Park where they will kick off against Newcastle United at 1:30 PM. Here is our Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup, with Spurs eager to avoid the thrashings they have received on their last two visits to Newcastle.

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup as Spurs Travel to St James’ Park

How Tottenham Have Lined Up Recently

Most recently sticking to a 4-3-3, the Lilywhites continue to reap the rewards from a more expansive style of play under ‘Angeball’.

Between the sticks, Guglielmo Vicario has kept Spurs in safe hands as Tottenham’s number one in his 42 appearances for the club so far.

In front of him remains a familiar defence from last season; Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie play as full-backs on either side of the formidable pairing of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. The back four have scored or set up three goals in their first two games, including an emphatic pitch-long run and assist from van de Ven.

In midfield, Postecoglou has tinkered in his first two games with a variety of personnel, both in his starting eleven and off the bench. James Maddison has featured in both games with his playmaking paying dividends in the form of two assists in the opening matches.

Rodrigo Bentancur was replaced by Yves Bissouma in the last game out due to injury – who scored his first-ever Spurs goal in some fashion against Everton.

Meanwhile, Pape Matar Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski have each made one start and one substitute appearance in midfield.

On the wings, Wilson Odobert made his first start last time out, partly owing to Solanke and Richarlison’s injuries, with Brennan Johnson starting both games on the opposite flank.

Son Heung-Min is Spurs’ sharpshooter, scoring two in his last two matches.

Tottenham’s Recent Form and Tactics

Unbeaten so far, Tottenham initially had a frustrating start to the season. Despite a dominant first half, Jamie Vardy crashed in an equaliser at the King Power Stadium which would have felt all too familiar for Spurs fans. But their thumping 4-0 home opener versus Everton demonstrated what Spurs can do when they finish their chances.

Home or away, Tottenham have not been shy to attack straight from kick-off, dominate possession and try to take control of the game this season. It would be refreshing to see them continue to do this, especially considering their last two capitulations at St James’ Park.

Tottenham Injuries and Suspensions to Consider

Spurs have already been struck by injuries so early into the campaign. Their strike force has been particularly affected with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison ruled out.

Ange Postecoglou said: “Main ones [injuries] are Dom Solanke is close but I think we’ll err on the side of caution with the international break. Richy pulled up sore. I think there’s a muscle injury there and we’re getting some more information, but he is out.”

The Spurs boss was quick to back Richarlison despite his injury struggles. Postecoglou said: “He’s such a handful. Even last week that 20 minutes he played, you can see the options he gives us in that position.”

But there is some good news as Postecoglou gave an update on Rodrigo Bentancur, who has “trained and most importantly he feels good”.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the departure of midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentinian will return to his former club Real Betis on a permanent transfer. It is understood that Lo Celso is part of a larger ‘unusual’ deal involving the future of Jhonny Cardoso.

Giovani Lo Celso Leaves Tottenham Hotspur

Lo Celso Returns to Betis

Spurs bade Lo Celso farewell, taking to X to wish him good luck. The attacking midfielder made over 108 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring 10 goals.

He initially joined the club on loan in August 2019 from Real Betis but was hampered by injury. However, still did enough to impress under Jose Mourinho, who praised him for his “incredible evolution” during his tenure. Lo Celso became a key part of the squad and warranted Spurs signing him permanently in January 2020.

Since then Lo Celso drifted in and out of the first team along with the succession of managers that followed Mourinho’s departure. For the past two seasons, he has plied his trade at Villareal on loan, making 38 La Liga appearances, scoring three goals.

Ange Postecoglou gave a rather indifferent remark when questioned about Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon’s future at Spurs. He said: “No, they don’t have to get integrated back to the squad. It’s their decisions. It’s pretty clear where they sit in terms of where we are as a squad and where we are as a team, but, you know, I’ve never been one to force people out.”

Spurs’ Cardoso Lo Celso Deal

Despite having signed Lo Celso in a deal worth £27.2m, Spurs will be letting him for just £8.4 million (€10 million Euros) plus add-ons and a sell on clause. This is partly because the player was in his final year of contract. But more importantly, Tottenham have agreed on the future of a Real Betis player as part of the deal.

Fabrizio Romano reports that as part of the Lo Celso deal, Spurs get priority to sign Jhonny Cardoso in the future. The player has also agreed to this. Another quirk of the deal is that if Spurs do not decide to buy him, they will instead be able to reap the profits with a sell-on clause.

Alasdair Gold, Tottenham correspondent for football . london has described this as an ‘unusual deal’, he writes: “There’s something very Tottenham Hotspur-like even with a potential unusual deal on transfer deadline day that does not involve them actually signing a player but instead suggesting they might possibly, potentially, perhaps one day.”

While this may bring some amusement and sarcasm from Spurs fans, this is another example of the way that the club manages to complete deals and strengthen their future squad without having the vast reserves of wealth that their rivals have.

Despite all parties pushing for a move, Sergio Reguilon looks set to stay at Tottenham Hotspur rather than get the transfer that all desired. Until January, the player will simply be a surplus.

Tottenham Hotspur Stuck: Sergio Reguilon Fails to Get Transfer

Move ‘Fast-Fading’

Dan Kilpatrick has revealed that a Reguilon exit now looks unlikely. He explained: “The prospect of securing a move before the deadline is fast fading”. If the Spaniard was to find a move, it would be to Turkey or Saudi Arabia, but he is “likely to remain”.

One option in Turkey is Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbache. The former Spurs manager obviously has links with the club, and coached Reguilon during his brightest spells during the 2020/21 season. Alternatively, the Saudi Pro League has been a great destination for an “unwanted star”. They will pay high fees and wages, though the left-back may prefer a career with European football in the Süper Lig.

What Does the Future Hold for Sergio Reguilon at Tottenham Hotspur?

Should the 27-year-old stay with the Lilywhites, he’ll have a tough six months ahead. Ange Postecoglou revealed that if the player doesn’t leave, he doesn’t need to be integrated back into the squad. The Australian is content with Destiny Udogie, though if rotation is needed, he may look to a right-back or centre-back.

Even if Postecoglou wants Reguilon to play, there is no space in the Europa League squad for registration. He could play in the Premier League but it remains to be seen if the Spurs board will let him, as they were highly keen on letting him go this window. We should expect a definite move in January if not tonight.

It has been revealed that sides from Europe and the English Football League are interested in Tottenham Hotspur’s rising star, Alfie Devine, for a loan transfer this deadline day. The midfielder spent last year on loan in League One and the Championship.

Interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Alfie Devine for Loan

A Number of Clubs Interested

Alasdair Gold has revealed that today there are “a number of clubs interested” in Devine. This would be on a loan deal, as the youngster has an excitingly high ceiling. In the Championship, where he impressed for Plymouth Argyle last campaign, Blackburn and Swansea hold interest. Many clubs on the continent are also monitoring, including Parma in Italy, multiple sides from Germany, and “others in Europe”.

The journalist continued to explain that Spurs had originally planned to keep the 20-year-old in North London this season, learning from the senior players and about Ange Postecoglou’s tactics. However, this has changed, though the reasoning is unknown.

No Space for Alfie Devine at Tottenham?

As an attacking midfielder, the academy graduate may struggle to break into the team in the short-term. James Maddison is an exceptionally gifted player who Postecoglou enjoys, whilst Dejan Kulusevski is capable of playing in that role should cover be needed. In the long-term though, at 27-years-old, Maddison won’t be around forever. There is a spot for the “record-breaking” youngster to try and win in the future.

However, he would compete with summer signing Lucas Bergvall. The 18-year-old joined from Djurgarden for €10 million and has two years of youth on Devine. Furthermore, the Swede will be training with the first-team squad for the whole of this season, playing minutes in the Premier League, and likely getting starts in cup competitions. He’s played in two out of two matches this year and has a significant edge over his peer to take Maddison’s throne.

Tottenham Hotspur might be about to get another player off their transfer list as Real Betis are planning to sign Giovani Lo Celso.

Lo Celso Made ‘Top Target’

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Betis are “pushing to sign” Tottenham Hotspur’s midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. The player has been attracting serious interest from the La Liga side after they made him their “target”.

With Nabil Fekir close to leaving Real Betis, negotiations for Lo Celso will start soon. Saudi Arabian club Al Jazira are said to be advancing in talks for the French professional footballer. That might help facilitate this transfer, with Romano adding that the Argentine is expected to leave Spurs this summer.

Lo Celso has already had a short stint with Real Betis in 2018-19. Thus, he should have no problem settling in if the transfer materialises.

Benchwarmer Role at Spurs

Ange Postecoglou prefers the likes of Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, and Pape Matar Sarr for his midfield. This has turned Lo Celso into a fringe payer. Consequently, he has made just four league starts under his Australian manager, playing 506 minutes.

The signing of youngsters Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray from Djurgarden and Leeds United means the writing is on the wall for the 28-year-old, with Spurs clearly prioritising young players.

Read More: ‘Big Surprise’: Tottenham Hotspur Invest ‘Important Fee’ to Sign 19-Year Old French Winger

Moreover, Lo Celso’s injury record hasn’t been very encouraging either. He has missed ten or more games in each of the last five seasons. With a huge number of games being played in modern football, staying injury-free is imperative to stake a claim for your place in a club like Spurs.

At Real Betis, he has a better chance of making it into the starting lineup and recovering his form. Hence a move away might benefit both him and the club.
