Although the British transfer window has now closed, there are some countries still allowing their clubs to conduct business.

Belgian side Westerlo have taken advantage to secure the season-long loan signing of the England youth international.

The move is his third away from Tottenham, following stints at Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle last season.

Devine was nurtured within the youth systems of Liverpool and Wigan Athletic before Tottenham came calling in 2020. He is considered among their most exciting prospects and the 20-year-old was on the bench for their recent defeat to Newcastle United.

He has been given the number 10 shirt by Westerlo, who sit fourth in the Belgian Pro League table.

A proposed move to the Midlands reportedly collapsed, leaving Devine without a loan club when the transfer deadline arrived. However, Football London have claimed he is due to fly to Belgium as he looks to seal a loan switch to Westerlo.

The Belgian transfer window does not close until September 6, enabling clubs in the Belgian Pro League to sign players when English clubs no longer can. If a deal is completed, Devine would be making his first move outside of his native England.

An attack-minded midfielder, Devine spent time in the youth systems of Liverpool and Wigan Athletic before joining Tottenham. He featured regularly for Spurs in pre-season and was on the bench for their recent defeat to Newcastle United.

Former Barnsley loan star Kieran Trippier could reportedly leave Newcastle United, despite the closure of the summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old was a marquee signing for the Magpies when they were taken over by the current regime and has made nearly 100 appearances for the club.

However, speculation regarding his future has been rife in recent months. His form tailed off towards the end of the 2023/24 season and Newcastle have had to delicately manage their incomings and outgoings due to profit and sustainability rules.

According to Sky Sports, Turkish sides Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Eyupsor have enquired about taking Trippier on loan and having a buy option included in the deal.

He has also been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, although Sky have claimed a move looks unlikely with the Saudi transfer window set to close.

Despite reports of interest from overseas, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has remained adamant he wants the defender in his ranks. As reported by the Northern Echo, he said: “Absolutely, I want Kieran here. That hasn’t changed, and that won’t change. I woke up to the stories via a few messages, as you do, but that was the first I’d heard of it.”

Trippier recently retired from international football, bringing the curtain down on his England career after collecting 54 caps.

Although best known for his exploits at Newcastle, Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, Trippier was first given regular minutes at senior level by Barnsley. Over the course of two loan spells, the defender amassed 44 appearances for the Reds.

Birmingham City’s move to sign Sheffield Wednesday-linked midfielder Alfie Devine from Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly collapsed.

Earlier this month, it was claimed Wednesday were considering adding Devine to their ranks with Tottenham open to sanctioning another loan exit. The 20-year-old has previously been borrowed by Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle, both of whom benefited greatly from his arrival.

More recently, he has been strongly linked with League One promotion hopefuls Birmingham. However, Football Insider have claimed their move to sign the England youth international has fallen through.

The news is likely to have interested parties on alert, with the report claiming he is on the radar of Al-Ettifaq. Wednesday could potentially take advantage of Birmingham’s misfortune, if still have Devine in their sights.

If the Owls do still admire the midfielder, they would need to move swiftly to add him to their ranks. The transfer deadline is looming, while there are also reports of interest from elsewhere in the Championship. Football London have reported interest from Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City, as well as from abroad.

It has been a busy summer for Wednesday, who have made a total of 11 senior signings. The most recent through the door was midfielder Shea Charles, who has sealed a loan move to Hillsborough from Southampton.

Leeds United are reportedly set to confirm the loan signing of Manor Solomon from Tottenham Hotspur.

Reports over the weekend suggested Leeds were closing in on the capture of the 25-year-old, who has found first-team opportunities limited at Tottenham. However, when he was not unveiled, question marks were raised among the Elland Road faithful.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, a Dutch club made an attempt to hijack the deal and lure Solomon away from England. Leeds appear to have fended off the advance, with Solomon thought to be due to sign for Leeds following a medical.

It now appears he will follow Largie Ramazani through the door as another recruit on the flanks. Typically a left-sided player, Solomon can also play through the middle as an attacking midfielder.

He started his career at Maccabi Petah Tikva, in his native Israel. A move to Shakhtar Donetsk followed but he departed the club following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Fulham took Solomon on loan and he made 24 appearances for the Cottagers, scoring five goals. His exploits at Craven Cottage landed him a permanent move to Tottenham, although he has failed to emerge from the fringes of the Spurs squad.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke had made it clear he wanted offensive additions following the departures of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, who joined West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.

Daniel Farke's transfer hope for 'ambitious' Leeds United - who line up move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder

LEEDS UNITED manager Daniel Farke has voiced confidence that the club will add some much-needed signings ‘over the upcoming days’, having stressed that more new arrivals are needed if the ‘ambitious’ Whites are to realise their hopes in 2024-25.

After a tough start to the season – compounded by the loss of a third marquee player in Georginio Rutter – Leeds got their season up and running with an impressive 2-0 victory at Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.

It ended a relieving couple of days for United, who secured the signing of winger Largie Ramazani from Spanish side UD Almeria on Wednesday night, with their next target being Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Manor Solomon, who is set to undergo a medical this weekend. The Israeli international is set to join on loan.

Farke, who included youngsters Sam Chambers, James Debayo and Charlie Crew on the bench at Hillsborough, said: "We definitely need a few more signings if we want to be ambitious because with a squad of 12 and 13 senior players and a handful of players who have rarely 20 games under their belt, for this ambitious club and emotional club to be successful in a long Championship season, it’s not possible.

"We have a good group to build on, that’s what we have shown. But we definitely need a few additions and this will also happen over the upcoming days.

"At the beginning of the season, you rarely have injuries with one or two missing from the first-team players and sometimes, it’s a struggle to fill the bench.

"Of course, it is not ideal, adding to a situation where there’s 46 games and even one more cup competition. You won’t expect there will be one or two players not available, there will be more in a really difficult Championship season.

"For that, we definitely need to add a few numbers. But I also have to hand compliments to my lads. We had a 16-year-old Sam Chambers on the bench and many players involved who had rarely 20 senior games and I am really happy and Alex Cairns was involved for the first time and it was not a gift.”

United produced an accomplished performance from front to goal with a goal in each half from Brenden Aaronson and Dan James securing three richly-deserved points on a night when Willy Gnonto, operating in a deep central role, caused a lot of problems.

Farke added: "It has been really difficult circumstances for us at the beginning of the season with all our outgoings, so I am pretty happy for the boys to take the next step.

"It was definitely our best performance of the season and the next step forward and nearly the perfect performance of the season. It was nearly the perfect away performance, I have to say and I am pretty pleased.

"More or less from the start, we were able to dominate the game.

"We were good at defending against West Brom, but our possession didn’t look great and we wanted to make the next step forward. I think we played pretty brave and dominant.

"They were one of the best in-form sides. We, in 2024, are the side who have won the most points in the Championship and if I am not totally wrong, Sheffield Wednesday is the runner-up."

Leicester City appear to be closing in on the £20m signing of Tottenham Hotspur’s Oliver Skipp, despite reports of interest from Leeds United.

Earlier in the summer, Leeds boss Daniel Farke was reported to be keen on a reunion with Skipp, who he managed at Norwich City. The midfielder enjoyed a stellar loan spell at Carrow Road, helping the Canaries clinch the Championship title in 2021.

He has not been loaned out since and has instead been part of Tottenham’s squad, although managed just five league starts last term. His lengthy association with the club looks set to come to an end, with Leicester believed to be on the verge of securing his services.

According to the BBC, Tottenham have accepted a bid from the Foxes, with a medical planned for today (August 19). Reports elsewhere have suggested an initial fee of £20m will be paid, with a further £5m in add-ons part of the deal.

Farke has made it clear he wants four new signings at Leeds before the end of the summer transfer window. Although Skipp will seemingly not be one of them, he has indicated his desire for a midfield addition.

Glen Kamara has left for Rennes, while teenage sensation Archie Gray has joined Tottenham. Joe Rothwell has been signed on loan from Southampton but the Whites do still appear light in the middle of the park.

Farke also wants cover at full-back, as well as two offensive additions to his squad. The Whites picked up their second draw of the Championship season at the weekend, sharing the spoils with West Bromwich Albion in a 0-0 draw.

Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly considering a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alfie Devine.

The 20-year-old has been in the first-team picture at Tottenham this summer, featuring in a string of pre-season friendlies and equipping himself well. However, he may not be remaining in Ange Postecoglou’s squad for the season ahead.

According to The Star, Devine is being considered as a potential new addition to the Wednesday ranks. Tottenham are thought to be open to the idea of letting him depart on loan for the third time in his career.

He was first sent to Port Vale, linking up with the League One side in August 2023. The midfielder was a revelation for the Valiants but his form proved to be a double-edged sword, as it led to him being moved up to the Championship with Plymouth Argyle.

Discussing Devine after his exit, former Port Vale boss Andy Crosby told the club’s website: “The growth that we have seen in Alfie both on and off the pitch speaks volumes of the person behind the footballer. He has an undying will to become the very best version of himself and we provided him with the best possible platform to do so.

"With his passion and drive partnered with his natural ability, he has all of the tools at his disposal to go on and really make a name for himself in the professional game and everybody that he has met and worked with here at Port Vale will be willing him on to do so.”

Devine made 15 appearances for Plymouth, helping the club retain their Championship status. An attack-minded midfielder, he also boasts international experience having represented England at various youth levels.

Former Leeds United and Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence has been handed a Tottenham Hotspur reprieve by head coach Ange Postecoglou.

Spence joined Tottenham two years ago, joining from Middlesbrough after a hugely successful loan spell at Nottingham Forest. However, he has been afforded just six first-team outings for the club during that time.

He was loaned out to French side Rennes during his maiden Tottenham campaign, before being allowed to join Leeds on a temporary basis in August 2023. Despite being considered a coup for the Whites, the move did not work out.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke allowed Spence to return to Tottenham early and he spent the rest of the 2023/24 season in Italy with Genoa. Upon his return to London, few expected Spence to be reintegrated by Postecoglou.

However, after a string of impressive displays in pre-season friendlies, Spence appears to have earned another opportunity to make the grade at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As reported by Sky Sports, Postecoglou said: “I think he’s been very, very good for us this pre-season, in terms of the way he’s trained and his general attitude. I think there’s an opportunity for him here, for sure; thinking about building a squad, he would be definitely somebody who could (contribute) with the attributes he has.

“A lot of these things are in the players’ hands themselves. They decide their own future in many respects and I think Djed’s in that boat. Maybe he’s learned a couple of things over the last couple of years about himself and hopefully we can sort of bear the fruit of that. He’s a very good player who fits into our football and so it’s as much about him as it is about me making a decision.”

Leeds lost two right-backs in January, with Spence departing in the same window as the long-serving Luke Ayling. Burnley’s Connor Roberts was drafted in on loan but Farke continued to deploy midfielder Archie Gray in the right-back slot.

Gray has since been reunited with Spence, having signed for Tottenham in a deal reported to be worth £40m.

Former Barnsley loan star Kieran Tripper is reportedly set to leave Newcastle United.

When a new era was ushered in at Newcastle under the current owners, Trippier was among the marquee signings who signalled the beginning of the new chapter.

He was considered a significant coup for the Magpies, moving to the club as an England regular who had lifted the La Liga trophy in Spain with Atletico Madrid.

However, after two-and-a-half years at the club, his time at St James’ Park could be coming to an end. The Northern Echo have claimed Trippier is set to depart, with interest from the Saudi Pro League believed to be mounting.

He has entered the final year of his Magpies contract and it has been claimed there are no plans to engage in talks regarding an extension. His inconsistent form and the presence of Tino Livramento, are said to have made the Newcastle hierarchy keener to sell.

Bayern Munich reportedly had a bid for Trippier rejected in January and are not expected to revive their interest. However, it has been suggested the 33-year-old is likely to have options in Saudi Arabia.

Formal talks are expected to commence in the coming weeks, with strengthening interest reported to be coming from at least two Saudi outfits.
