Description

Harry Kane spectacularly missed the chance to complete a quick-fire double in his latest Tottenham reunion.

The former Spurs striker lined up for Bayern Munich in their pre-season friendly at the Allianz Arena, scoring just 12 minutes into the game.

Just 12 minutes in, Kane had the ball in the back of the net after latching onto a ball over the top.

He controlled Michael Olise's pass brilliantly before firing a low shot past Guglielmo Vicario.

As expected, there was no celebration from the England captain as he showed respect for his former club.

Kane was handed the perfect opportunity to add to his tally just moments later.

Spurs debutant Joao Palhinha, who signed on loan from Bayern on Sunday, brought down Josip Stanisic inside the penalty area.

The goalscorer stepped up from 12 yards only to slip as he struck the ball, sending it soaring over the bar and into the crowd.

His miss spared Palhinha's blushes as he returned to his parent club just days after leaving.

Although it won't spare Kane's blushes, with one fan declaring: "Worst penalty I've ever seen."

It's Kane's second appearance against his old club since completing a £100million switch to Germany in 2023.

Kane had made a cameo appearance off the bench at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last summer.

The Portuguese has joined Thomas Frank's side on a season-long loan with the option to make the deal permanent next summer.

If triggered, the clause would see Palhinha complete a £26million switch to north London.

Kane's miss bore a striking resemblance to his shocking miss against France at the 2022 World Cup.

On that occasion, having already scored from the spot, he missed the chance to equalise for the Three Lions in their quarter-final defeat.

That miss was Kane's last in a competitive match from 12 yards and is only the 11th of his career.

Overall, he has converted from the spot 89 times, with 21 of those coming for Bayern.

Since joining the German giants, Kane has added to his prolific scoring habits from the Premier League.

His tally of 62 goals in 63 league outings has seen him win back-to-back Bundesliga golden boots.

Kane is the first player to achieve the feat in his first two seasons in the league.

Kane's record against Spurs

Kane's goal was his first against Spurs since leaving for Bayern two summers ago.

However, neither of his two meetings with his old side have been in competitive fixtures.

The two clubs met in a pre-season match at Spurs last summer just days after a clash in Seoul, South Korea as part of their respective Asian tours.

On that occasion, he failed to find the target after coming off the bench, having missed the match in Asia following Euro 2024.

Kane also refused to lift the Visit Malta Cup in front of the Spurs fans as Bayern were crowned winners of the summer tournament.

The 32-year-old is Spurs’ all-time top scorer after finding the net 280 times in 435 appearances across all competitions.

Daniel Levy named Premier League’s best chairman but he will have one major regret

Daniel Levy named Premier League’s best chairman but he will have one major regret - talkSPORT
Description

Daniel Levy should be considered the best chairman in the Premier League, believes ex-Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Townsend said that he rates Levy higher than anyone else in his position in the top-flight.

Levy has been Spurs' chairman since 2001, and in that time, the club has been transformed on and off the pitch.

They have a brilliant, modern stadium that is viewed as one of the finest sporting arenas in the world as well as a new training ground.

The team are also regularly in Europe, while commercially, they are one of the richest clubs in the world.

However, Spurs supporters often criticise Levy for not investing in the playing squad and for the club failing to win enough trophies.

Of course, that drought ended earlier this year when Spurs claimed the Europa League trophy in May.

But after a terrible domestic campaign where they came 17th in the Premier League table, Levy still sacked Ange Postecoglou and replaced him with Thomas Frank.

And despite all the criticism, Townsend is a staunch defender of Levy, saying: "I've said it before and I am not afraid to say it.. I'll get some stick, but I think he's the best chairman in the Premier League by far.

"Where he's taken Spurs from then to where they are today, it's chalk and cheese.

"I remember ten years ago, Spurs were a mid-table club, playing in front of 25,000, not generating enough funds to be able to compete at the top level.

"Now they have a brand new stadium and brand new straining ground. They are competing at the top level, and they are in the Champions League and won the Europa League.

"They are considered a big six side when before, it was the big four, and they've broken into that because of the brand they've created off the pitch."

However, the former England international does think Levy made a mistake with Mauricio Pochettino.

After Spurs reached the 2018/19 Champions League final, the following summer didn't go to plan, and Pochettino was sacked to be replaced by Jose Mourinho five months after their defeat to Liverpool in Madrid.

"I think he made one mistake that was after the Champions League final when he didn't back [Mauricio] Pochettino," Townsend.

"I think he's big enough and brave enough to admit that was his one mistake, but with everything else, he's one of the best in the business."

During that summer, Christian Eriksen and Kieran Trippier departed the club.

Levy did splash out a then club-record fee of £63million on Tanguy Ndombele, but the midfielder was unable to get fit throughout his five years at the club.

Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso also arrived to bolster the first team.

Jack Clarke also came in but was immediately loaned back to Leeds United.

So, that was only three first-team additions to the squad, but with Trippier and Eriksen leaving, the team only had one extra player.

The season started reasonably for Pochettino and Spurs, losing just one of their first six games.

However, a 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League was followed by a 3-0 loss against Brighton.

And after a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United, Pochettino was dismissed.

Mourinho and Antonio Conte followed but didn't bring trophies or league success.

And since, Levy has admitted sacking Pochettino was one of the hardest things he's ever done.

“It is not something I ever wanted," Levy said. Personally, it was incredibly difficult, I told him that and he understood. He's been in football, he understands.

“It's not personal and I'm sure he'll come back stronger and get an opportunity to manage another great club.”

'Not my first choice' - Heung-min Son makes stunning admission about LAFC during transfer unveiling - talkSPORT
Description

Heung-min Son has admitted that joining Los Angeles FC wasn't his first choice after departing Tottenham.

Son officially left Tottenham after a decade on Wednesday, heading to the MLS in a new record deal worth £20million.

The 33-year-old shared an emotional goodbye message to his teammates and said his farewells to fans this week.

He made his final appearance in a Spurs shirt in a friendly against Newcastle last weekend in Seoul, South Korea.

Son was then officially unveiled by LAFC a few days later, signing an initial two-year deal with the MLS side.

But it was whilst speaking at his Los Angeles unveiling that the ex-Tottenham captain made a shock admission.

He revealed: "They've been absolutely working so hard to get me here to join LAFC.

"If I'm honest, it was not my first choice.

"But John [Thorrington, LAFC general manager] was the first call when the season finished and he changed my mind, he changed my heart, changed my brain.

"He showed me the destination where I should be. Now I'm here, I'm more than happy, I'm so excited."

Son also attracted interest from Saudi clubs Al Ahli, Al Nassr, and Al Qadisah once his future at Spurs was being questioned.

Turkish sides were linked too, with his other options possibly taking his fancy more at first, but he has now ended up in LA.

What else did Son say?

Speaking at his unveiling, Son also discussed the Korean fans supporting LAFC and what he will bring to the team.

"I saw all of the Korean fans outside," he said. "Yesterday I was at the game watching you supporting like crazy, it was insane, I just wanted to run onto the pitch and show my performance."

"I'm here to win and I will perform. I will definitely show you something exciting… are we calling it football or soccer?" he joked.

"I will definitely show you some exciting football, and we will have success."

Son added: "I felt like I gave it all [at Tottenham], but I felt like I needed a new challenge and I chose LAFC.

"I'm old, but I still have good physicality and I still have good quality."

Why did Son leave Spurs?

Before he officially joined LAFC, Son said goodbye to his Tottenham family in a teary-eyed message.

Explaining why he decided to leave, he said: "To all the Spurs fans. I mean, it’s such a hard decision that I will leave the Spurs family.

"It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. And as I say, there’ll be no forever and I gave (my) all."

He continued: "I know it sounds very surprising, I know it sounds very hard. Because I gave (my) all, I feel like I need a new chapter.

"So it was probably one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. So please don’t be disappointed.

"I will be disappointed not seeing you on the pitch."

Description

Tottenham face Bayern Munich this evening in their latest pre-season friendly and are set for a reunion with Harry Kane.

The Europa League winners began their summer schedule last month away to League One side Reading.

Following a 2-0 victory over the Royals, Spurs faced Wycombe and Luton in the same day on July 26.

Thomas Frank's side jetted to Asia for matches against Arsenal and Newcastle last week.

They began the trip by beating the Gunners in Hong Kong, the first time the north London derby had been held overseas.

The tour concluded with a 1-1 draw against Newcastle at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in South Korea on Sunday.

Spurs will conclude their pre-season friendly schedule against Bayern before the UEFA Super Cup on August 13.

Frank's first Premier League match in charge is scheduled for August 16 at home to newly-promoted Burnley.

Bayern Munich vs Tottenham: Where to watch

This pre-season clash at the Allianz Arena in Munich will take place on Thursday, August 7.

The match is set to kick-off at 5.30pm UK time.

Fans will be able to watch it live on the club's official streaming platform, SPURSPLAY.

Coverage from Germany will begin an hour before kick-off at 4.30pm.

Bayern Munich vs Tottenham: Team news

Frank was handed a major injury worry during the clash with Newcastle on Sunday.

James Maddison was stretchered off after suffering a 'bad' knee injury during the closing stages.

The midfielder is set to join what is already a lengthy injury list for the new manager to contend with.

Kota Takai, Destiny Udogie and Manor Solomon all remained at Hotspur Way for treatment during the Asian tour.

They joined long-term absentees Radu Dragusin, Dejan Kulusevski and Bryan Gil in missing out.

Heung-min Son played his final match for Spurs on Sunday after announcing his decision to leave.

The club captain was given an emotional send off as he closes in on a move to MLS side Los Angeles FC.

Dominic Solanke could return, though, after recovering from an ankle injury which has kept him out since the win at Reading.

There may also be a debut for new signing Joao Palhinha, who signed on a season-long loan from Bayern on Sunday.

As for the German giants, Kane is likely to face his former club along with recent addition Luis Diaz.

However, Vincent Kompany will be without both Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala.

Bayern Munich vs Tottenham: What's been said

Speaking after the draw with Newcastle, Frank explained: "Sometimes in life and football things can be both beautiful and brutal.

"That's what we got today. It looks like a bad injury (for Maddison) and then, on the other side, unbelievable scenes for Son from his team-mates and the respect from the Newcastle players.

"First we had the walkaround and then the team-mates gathered around and he was emotional.

"In the changing room it was more of the same. I just said a few things but not much because it's about Sonny. Then he said a few things. It was beautiful."

Meanwhile, Kompany also spoke to reporters ahead of the match.

The former Burnley boss said: "It's an unusual pre-season – a short vacation, short preparation and then back to work.

"But we're up for it. We don't have much time. We want to be physically ready for the early games."

Sean Dyche opens up on chasing Harry Kane transfer but says Tottenham are no mugs as he reveals how close he got

Sean Dyche chased Harry Kane deal but recalls why it was never going to work - talkSPORT
Description

Sean Dyche would love to have worked with Harry Kane - and he tried to make it happen.

Sadly for Dyche, who was manager of Premier League side Burnley at the time, Tottenham knew they had a star on their hands and demanded big money for the striker.

In 2012, though, the England captain had yet to break into the Spurs first-team and was a long way from breaking all manner of goal records he has since done in the Premier League, with England and now at Bayern Munich.

That all came from hard work in the Football League at various clubs on loan, first at Leyton Orient in 2011 then at Dyche's former club Millwall on a four-month deal in 2012.

Dyche had spent three years at The Den as a player before his transition into management.

Kane scored nine goals in 27 appearances across all competitions for the Lions during his time at the club as he began to impress.

However, he then struggled during subsequent loan spells at Norwich and Leicester in 2013.

Dyche wanted him at Turf Moor as he recalled in a chat with talkSPORT.

When asked which transfers he wishes he had been able to get over the line, he said: "The only one that I'm on record for was the Harry Kane one.

"That was because people think that I tried to sign him like being daft when he was up and running, but I didn't.

"I tried to sign him when he'd had a couple of loans that didn't really work that well.

"He'd done really well at Millwall, which is when I first got eyes on him, because some of my mates I played with at Millwall were still there, and they really thought a lot of him.

"He was a very young man as well, but held his own in it. Millwall can be a tough place to play and he held his own and did well there.

"Then he went on a couple of loans and [became] a sort of bit part player coming off the bench.

"So I, by chance, bumped into him on a holiday in Portugal, and his family, and had a chat with him, and it was his dad and just kind of made a phone call.

"But it was big money, even then. I mean, Tottenham are not mugs. I remember [former Spurs striker and now club ambassador] Clive Allen, telling me what a player he was and what a finisher."

How close did Kane come to joining Burnley?

Dyche admits the deal did not get close to being completed despite his interest.

He continued: "I must make it clear, it was never close, [Tottenham] asked for big money and apparently money [at Burnley] was hard to come by with the chairman and the board, so we weren't going to pay that.

"He was probably the one when I really chased as hard as I could, but the numbers were just too big at the time.

"They obviously realised they've got a real talent and what a talent he is without a shadow of a doubt, top, top player."

What did Kane do instead?

After his false starts on loan, Kane went on to enjoy his breakout season during the 2014/15 campaign with Tottenham.

The then 21-year-old scored 21 goals in 34 Premier League appearances and earned his first England call-up.

He has since become both Spurs and the Three Lions' all-time leading scorer.

Meanwhile, Kane won three Premier League Golden Boots before joining Bayern for more than £100million in 2023.

The 32-year-old has added two Bundesliga golden boots during his time in Germany as well as winning the league title last term.

Kane will welcome his old club to Munich in a pre-season friendly, but it will be a lot of change from both sides.

Kane's former teammate Heung-min Son is no longer there, though Joao Palhinha and Mathys Tel will be lining up against him having left Bavaria for London.

Vincent Kompany will be without both Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala but new boy Luis Diaz is ready to play.

What is Sean Dyche doing now?

Speaking to talkSPORT, Dyche said he is enjoying his time away from the dugout with Everton being his most recent job, which he left in January 2025.

He has been able to catch up friends and family over the summer period, play more golf and see live music.

"I saw Kasabian who I love and they're brilliant. I saw Oasis, they were brilliant, so I'm enjoying that side of things and not really too involved with the football, trying to take a real break from it."

Having been involved in football since his teens, though, the 54-year-old did admit he misses the day-to-day of being a manager.

Did he get offered the Leicester job?

No. "The Leicester thing was a complete myth," he explained.

"It's not Leicester's fault, the media made out I'd been interviewed and I hadn't been, so that was just noise.

"It just takes time sometimes and the right job and the right situation and sometimes the right timing for the job and the job that I can do and the chance to fulfil that job."

Tottenham’s new stadium plan could allow residents to watch matches for free

Tottenham’s new stadium plan could allow residents to watch matches for free - talkSPORT
Description

A north London flat with a free Premier League season ticket? Say no more.

That could well be the reward for some high-earning Tottenham fans, with new residential buildings to overlook their stadium.

The Europa League champions have unveiled plans for a quartet of new homes just beside their 62,800-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A 29-storey hotel is already being built by F3 architects, and it could now be joined by four more towers ranging from 19 to 35 storeys, more than high enough to overlook the pitch.

The plans also include a series of three-storey townhouses to the east of the hotel.

A design and access statement said the plans would lead to the creation of 585 homes and that they have been submitted to Haringey Council, which will rule on the detailed design in the coming months.

It also said the development would be “connected to its neighbours with shared use of certain materials, creating a holistic approach to the overall development”.

The building materials include pre-cast concrete, London stock brick, planar blades and fluted panels.

The towers will also be in grey and white, complimenting the current stadium colour and that of the Lillywhites.

The newly-submitted document also said: “Although different in height, the towers share a consistent language, including materials, articulation and design, which accords with the approved design code and design and access statement by [urban planning practice] Allies and Morrison.

“As a result, the development is viewed as a cluster of coherent towers that clearly relate rather than compete with one another.”

What has Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said?

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium first opened in 2019 and is still considered as one of the world’s leading arenas across any sport.

Seen as one of chairman Daniel Levy’s greatest achievements, he also promised further work on the area which also used to house previous stadium White Hart Lane.

“We see regeneration as bringing hope, prosperity and uplift to Tottenham, embracing the local community, building on the character and talents of the area,” he said.

“Our vision is that our neighbourhood is a prosperous mixed community. If you live here you should be able to study, work and play here.

“We want to change the prospects for those that live in this part of London and see our developments, starting with our new stadium but including everything we build in Tottenham as a catalyst for its regeneration.

“That is why we have delivered new, affordable homes, schools, shops and jobs alongside our stadium and embedded our Foundation onto the High Road.

“Unlike any developer, we are not here to develop, take a profit and leave – we are here for the long-term. This is our home.”

Levy also addressed the future of the stadium more recently on Gary Neville’s The Overlap.

“When you come here and you look at this wonderful building and the fact that other clubs now try and copy what we’re doing, that should be a sign that we did something a bit bold and right,” he said.

“This is a symbol of Tottenham Hotspur on the global map, I think it’s fantastic for the local community, the employment that we’re creating as a result of this stadium.

“We’re very conscious that we want this area to improve economically and the activity that this stadium brings is very significant for the locals.”

Heung-min Son’s move to LAFC to smash MLS transfer record with medical booked

Heung-min Son’s move to LAFC to smash MLS transfer record with medical booked - talkSPORT
Description

Los Angeles FC will smash the MLS transfer record to sign Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son.

Spurs and LAFC are finalising a move that will see Son head to the United States in a huge $27million (£20m) deal.

talkSPORT understands the South Korea forward is currently on his way to Los Angeles to complete the transfer, with his medical booked in for after his arrival.

The $27m fee is going to set a new MLS record, eclipsing the highest amount ever paid for a player in the league.

It currently stands at the $22m (approximately £16.5m) Atlanta United spent to acquire Emmanuel Latte Lath earlier this year.

Son, who joined Spurs in 2015, played what will be his last match for the club against Newcastle in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.

The 33-year-old held a press conference alongside new Spurs boss Thomas Frank last weekend and publicly confirmed his decision to leave after ten years in north London.

His transfer away from the Premier League sees him link up with former Spurs teammate Hugo Lloris in America.

Speaking before the friendly against Newcastle, an emotional Son said: “Before we start the press conference, I just want to share the information that I’ve decided to leave the club in the summer.

“And respectfully, the club is helping me with my decision. So I just want to share this information before we start the press conference.”

The winger added: “It was the most difficult decision of my football career. I’ve been here ten years at a beautiful club with beautiful fans and having such amazing memories.

“And after all that, it was so hard to make this decision. But as I said, I feel like I need a new environment and to push myself.

“And to get more of me, I feel like I need a little bit of change. Ten years is a lot of time when you’re thinking about it.

“So and I came to London as a kid. 23 years old, a very young age [and] a young boy came to London who even didn’t speak English.

“And [I’m] leaving this club as a grown man. This is a very, very proud moment.

“So I just wanna say thank you to all of the Spurs fans that gave me so much love.

“I felt like it was my home. But yeah, it was, it was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever made.”

Son is arguably the greatest international player in Tottenham history, sitting seventh on their all-time appearance list after featuring 454 times.

He also established himself in the Premier League's history books, scoring 127 times in England's top-flight and ending up 16th on the list of all-time top goalscorers, above the likes of Steven Gerrard and Ian Wright.

The South Korean's exit comes months after finally lifting his first trophy as club captain when Spurs won the Europa League in May.

Son's final match was overshadowed by a worrying knee injury sustained by Spurs star James Maddison, who left the pitch in tears and on a stretcher.

What has been said about Heung-min Son's Spurs exit?

talkSPORT co-host Tony Cascarino led the praise of Son's extraordinary Spurs career after his exit was announced.

"I love players that give so much to a football club," the former Ireland striker said.

"He's never been on the front pages, never been a problem, never disrupted the camp, played second fiddle to Harry Kane for long periods, but was absolutely pivotal to his partnership with him.

"Ten years, perfect. He's lost half a yard, that has been detrimental to him as a player. But when I look at him, I just think what a great pro.

"If you're any manager, Thomas Frank would love to have kept him and worked with him, but I think he's done the right move.

"I mean, last year, watching him coming off the bench so often and even Spurs fans saying that someone's not quite the same player.

"He's been an absolute legend at the football club. And seemingly just a great lad to be around.

"He's been a true professional that fans should just applaud. And I think it's perfect timing for him to go on and pass a new challenge for him at 33."

Harvey Elliott told Premier League club that would be perfect fit amid Liverpool future doubts

Description

Harvey Elliott has been told he is the 'ideal' replacement for James Maddison at Tottenham.

The Spurs midfielder faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he was stretchered off against Newcastle on Sunday.

Although the severity of the knee injury he suffered has not been confirmed, manager Thomas Frank admitted it was 'bad' after the match.

Maddison's expected absence has reignited the club's interest in Elliott.

Spurs have internally discussed a potential move for the 22-year-old throughout the current window.

West Ham also previously held talks with the Reds earlier this summer but were put off by their £40million asking price.

Meanwhile, Frank's side have shown their spending ambition having been prepared to pay £60million for Morgan Gibbs-White before the deal collapsed.

Spurs' interest in Elliott has now been given the seal of approval by former loanee Alan Pardew.

Asked if the north London club feels like a good fit, the talkSPORT co-host told Breakfast: "It does for me. With (James) Maddison, well, fingers crossed it’s not a very serious injury.

"But obviously he's injured in the short term. I think he would be absolutely ideal to take that role."

Jeff Stelling added: "I think he's a terrific player. And obviously he's on the periphery at Anfield.

"He deserves more Premier League time. From my perspective, he's used to life in London because he used to be at Fulham.

"So I think it would be a great shout. Maybe people will look at Harvey Elliott and say, ‘oh, he's not really a Spurs type player’.

"But we don't know what Spurs are going to look like during the coming season because they've got a new man in charge."

Why should Elliott join Spurs?

Pardew also cited Frank's previous work at Brentford, concluding: "I think if I was Harvey Elliott and I was his agent or in his team, I think Spurs is an absolutely perfect fit.

"The manager has been brilliant with young players at Brentford. So he has a great track record with that."

Elliott has two years left on his deal at Anfield having joined the club from Fulham aged 15 in 2018.

He progressed through the Cottagers' academy after initially starting his career at London rivals Queens Park Rangers.

Although he has already made 92 Premier League appearances for the Reds, he was limited to just 18 last term.

Jack Grealish, Arsenal target and £40m Liverpool ace named as potential replacements for injured James Maddison

Jack Grealish, Arsenal target and £40m Liverpool ace named as potential replacements for injured James Maddison - talkSPORT
Description

Tottenham face another summer transfer test with James Maddison picking up a serious-looking knee injury during pre-season.

The attacking midfielder was stretchered off and in tears in the second half of the 1-1 friendly draw with Newcastle.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank described it as a 'bad injury' and confirmed it was the same knee that sidelined Maddison near the end of last season.

Maddison looks set for a lengthy absence, and so the Europa League champions could delve back into the market for a new option.

Having missed out on Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White, talkSPORT's Alex Crook has revealed three potential alternatives for Spurs to explore.

Jack Grealish

talkSPORT reported in June that Grealish has accepted his career at Manchester City is over.

The winger was left out of their Club World Cup squad and has had interested from West Ham and Everton.

Spurs have held a genuine interest too as Crook said: "Jack Grealish was a topic of conversation at Spurs at the start of the summer.

"It went quite quiet in that regard," he added, although Grealish may still be an option as the transfer window progresses.

Eberechi Eze

After Manchester United improved their offer for Bryan Mbeumo, Spurs began to focus their efforts on Crystal Palace star man Eze.

However, Arsenal held talks with the 27-year-old's camp as they eyed a new left-wing option before signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

The Gunners' interest in Eze appeared to scupper Spurs' hopes of a deal for Palace's FA Cup final hero.

Crook said: "I think when Arsenal came to the table, Tottenham retreated because they feared that they would be hijacked by their north London rivals."

Harvey Elliott

Earlier in the summer, West Ham held talks with Liverpool over Elliott after his heroics for the England U21s at the Euros.

But the Reds have set an asking price of £40m for the 22-year-old, who has struggled for regular minutes at Anfield.

And with Florian Wirtz now at Liverpool after his British record move worth £116.5m, an exit looks likely.

"The other name I'd keep an eye on when it comes to Spurs actually is Harvey Elliott at Liverpool," Crook said.

"He's another player that Liverpool are willing to cash in on, he had a brilliant summer leading the England Under-21s to European Championship glory.

"He won't be cheap, I think the asking price is about £40million, maybe north of that. But obviously, they were willing to pay £60m for Gibbs-White.

"And he just strikes me, Harvey Elliott, as a very Thomas Frank-type signing."

Spurs have signed Kevin Danso, Mathys Tel, Luka Vuskovic, Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus so far this summer.
