Father v son

One tie that has been overlooked is Everton v Peterborough.

However, the headline on that draw has nothing to do with the teams, but rather with two players.

Everton's Ashley Young could end up playing against his 18-year-old son Tyler.

Taking to Instagram he posted a screenshot of the tie and tagged his dad in it.

Young Sr. has won the FA Cup in 2016 with Man Utd.

He has played 31 FA Cup games across his career.

Meanwhile, Tyler only made his pro debut in October in a 2-0 EFL Trophy win over Stevenage.

Tamworth elated

You just have to be happy for the likes of Tamworth after that draw.

The club shared pictures to social media of their fans celebrating wildly with the draw.

And who can blame them?

Manager Andy Peaks probably summed up a lot of the reaction in the BBC studio.

Fans declare "greatest draw of all time"

"101 places between #Tottenham and #Tamworth and yet I’m still certain they’ll score first from a set piece and we’ll need at least 4 to win the game. #TamworthTottenham #facup3rdRoundDraw."

"Some brilliant draws there for the FA Cup 3rd Round!! Minnows off to Prem Clubs great to see."

"Greatest draw of all time haha, Arsenal v Man United, Leeds v Harrogate, Man City v Salford, Liverpool v Accrington, Newcastle v Bromley, Tamworth v Spurs and quite a few I haven't mentioned."

Tottenham 1 Fulham 1: Spurs blow lead to miss chance of closing gap on top four as Cairney sent off for horror challenge

Description

TOM CAIRNEY had a taste of the highs and lows experienced by Spurs fans most weeks after he scored and then was sent off in a crazy, 21-minute sub cameo.

The Fulham club captain, 33, had been introduced on 62 minutes after Brennan Johnson’s ice-cool finish put under-par Tottenham ahead.

Things seemed to be going so well for Cairney when he curled home a splendid leveller soon after coming on.

But his short shift was over on 83 minutes when ref Darren Bond upgraded his yellow to a red after consulting his pitch-side telly to consider Cairney’s foul on Dejan Kulusevski.

Spurs could not capitalise on the extra man as they limply followed up last week’s euphoric 4-0 win at the Etihad, which had been preceded by a dismal 2-1 home defeat to Ipswich.

It was little surprise to hear frustrated home fans give a few boos at full-time as their wildly inconsistent campaign continued.

Boss Ange Postecoglou was dealt a blow ahead of kick-off when £65million striker Dominic Solanke was ruled out through illness.

The England man actually reported for duty at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hours before kick-off, but was deemed too poorly for action and was sent home.

Spurs underwhelmed but they should have taken the lead inside 49 seconds.

Timo Werner, starting in Solanke’s absence with Son Heung-min shifted to centre-forward, nicked the ball and laid in the South Korean who struck straight at Bernd Leno.

Postecoglou’s Russian roulette football approach means Tottenham games are a joy to watch for the neutral.

But they can be nail-biting, exhausting affairs for fans whose excitement over every chance their team creates are matched by the anxiety felt at the opportunities they give up.

This game fit neatly into that description with Fulham looking so dangerous on the counter.

Twice Ben Davies, sporting a black eye picked up against Roma on Thursday, had to make last-gasp interventions, first to deny Raul Jimenez and then Sander Berge.

While Fraser Forster once again impressed with his shot-stopping ability in the absence of injured No1 Guglielmo Vicario.

The England international made two fine stops to deny Jimenez, the second of which saw him produce a powerful right-hand to deny the Mexican’s well-struck volley.

Alex Iwobi, one of FOUR ex-Arsenal players in Marco Silva’s starting line-up, then went a whisker away from an opener as he blasted onto the crossbar.

Spurs themselves hit the woodwork before the break when James Maddison’s sneaky free-kick under the wall was deflected onto the post.

The hosts started the second period in equally lacklustre fashion and Forster had to be at his best to deny Issa Diop and then Iwobi.

Spurs were loose in possession too with lax passes from Maddison and Radu Dragusin.

But they went unpunished and on 55 minutes, Spurs went ahead through Johnson.

The Welshman crashed home a clever loop of a cross from Werner from close-range.

It took his tally to four goals in as many games for club and country - as well as ten in 20 for Spurs this term.

Postecoglou may have felt aggrieved at that point that Fulham were not reduced to ten men after Sasa Lukic escaped a second yellow card minutes after his first one.

Having rightly been cautioned for fouling Yves Bissouma, the Serb took out Son with a strong challenge but ref Bond played advantage and did not take any action later.

Sensing his side had got away with one, Marco Silva sensibly withdrew Lukic on 62 minutes and sent Cairney on in his place.

Seven minutes later, the sub made his mark with a thumping finish into the far corner from Iwobi’s cutback that had Forster grasping at thin air.

Cairney celebrated like a man who had not netted for some time - understandably given his last goal came 361 days ago.

Postecoglou’s lengthy absentee list meant he had mainly kids on the bench - with 16-year-old midfielder Luca Williams-Barnett literally at school this week.

But one man the Aussie did have was star-of-the-season Kulusevski, benched to manage his workload, and he was sent on before the restart.

And it was for a foul on Kulusevski that saw Cairney’s explosive cameo come to an end.

The ex-Scotland international was initially booked for catching the Swede on the back of the leg down to his Achilles.

But while there did not appear to be any malice in the challenge, it was a nasty one, and that yellow turned to red after VAR recommended Bond check his monitor.

Yet Spurs could not capitalise, and now have just one win in their last five games - albeit that victory did read Manchester City 0 Tottenham 4.

Tottenham star Dominic Solanke SENT HOME after turning up to stadium as he's left out of squad for Fulham clash

Description

TOTTENHAM star Dominic Solanke was sent home by boss Ange Postecoglou ahead of today's clash with Fulham.

Solanke, 27, arrived at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this morning feeling under the weather but still looking to play a part.

After seeing his centre-forward, boss Postecoglou decided to give him the afternoon off to rest.

Explaining Solanke's omission from the team ahead of kick-off, the Aussie, 58, said: "He just came in today and he wasn't looking the best.

"He was under the weather so we sent him home.

"Hopefully a full recovery and ready to go for the next one."

Solanke played the full 90 minutes as Tottenham drew 2-2 with Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The summer signing has scored four goals in 10 Premier League appearances this season.

He has added a further two strikes in Europe.

Postecoglou was also without long-term absentee Richarlison, with Son Heung-min deployed as a central striker.

Timo Werner started to Son's left, with Brennan Johnson on the right.

And it was the winger duo who combined to break the deadlock on 54 minutes.

Werner crossed the ball for Johnson to slot home first time, giving Spurs the lead.

They were only ahead for 13 minutes, however, with Tom Cairney stroking the visitors level from the edge of the box.

Cairney then went from hero to zero as he was sent off for a poor challenge on Dejan Kulusevski.

Tottenham identify England U21 star as Guglielmo Vicario replacement with ‘next N’Golo Kante’ also on transfer wish list

Description

TOTTENHAM are checking on Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson for the rest of the year before deciding if the Black Cats keeper will be their emergency signing.

Patterson, 24, looks the perfect fit for Spurs, who need cover for injured Guglielmo Vicario — ideally one who would be happy as a reserve.

The respected Black Cats No1 is ready for the step up to the top flight but it may have to be as a second choice.

Sunderland will not want to lose Patterson in their bid for promotion to the Prem — though they usually sell at the right price so Tottenham could do a deal.

Spurs have also considered James Trafford at Burnley but the England Under-21 stopper would cost a lot.

Ivory Coast keeper Yahia Fofana of French side Angers is in their sights too.

Patterson established himself as Sunderland's first choice goalie in the 2021-2022 season.

He has since gone on to star for the club 137 times.

Last year, Patterson made his England U21 debut as a half-time substitute in a 2-0 defeat to Japan at St George's Park.

He has been touted as one of the best goalkeepers outside the Premier League.

Man Utd and Liverpool have been linked with a move for Patterson in the past.

Meanwhile, Tottenham and Aston Villa have joined the race for Reims’ young midfield star Valentin Atangana.

The Cameroon-born wonder, 19, is earning rave reviews in France — and 26 top sides watched him play last week.

He has been called the next N'Golo Kante by the French media.

Atangana has played at various youth levels for France, from U17's to U21's.

In 2022, he starred for his country in the European Under -17 Championships, who went on to win the competition.

Tottenham 2 Roma 2: Mats Hummels scores stoppage-time equaliser as Spurs denied victory despite Son and Johnson goals – The Sun

Description

MATS HUMMELS netted a last-gasp leveller on his first European game since the Champions League final to come to Claudio Ranieri’s rescue.

The German veteran, 35, turned home ex-Manchester City man Angelino’s cross in stoppage time to break Spurs’ resistance.

He had not featured in Europe since losing to Real Madrid in the biggest club game in European football at the end of last season.

Spurs had hoped to close out a vital three points in their bid to seal automatic qualification for the Europa League knockouts stages.

Son Heung-min’s penalty and a Brennan Johnson strike, either side of an Evan N’Dicka header, were looking like they would be enough to do exactly that.

But in a game full of chances for both sides, Ranieri marked his return to England with a precious point thanks to Hummels.

The ex-Chelsea and Leicester boss, now 73, had only taken charge of Roma - for the third time - earlier this month.

Everyone was wondering which Spurs would turn up after their wildly inconsistent displays this season.

Would it be the one who battered Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad in the last game, or the one that handed Ipswich their first Prem win of the season the match before?

At least with Postecoglou’s Tottenham you know it is always going to be an entertaining experience and this was no different.

The Aussie’s side were handed the chance for a perfect start when Hummels tripped the excellent Pape Matar Sarr in the box inside three minutes.

It looked a stonewall spotkick but bizarrely ref Glenn Nyberg did not give it - until VAR told him to take another look on the pitchside monitor and he promptly reversed his decision.

Captain Son did the business from 12 yards, sending keeper Mile Svilar the wrong way.

This was only Ranieri’s second game in charge with his first coming in a 1-0 defeat at Serie A leaders Napoli, bossed by ex-Spurs chief Antonio Conte.

Paulo Dybala impressed and had a shot well-blocked by Fraser Forster in what was a confidence-building early moment for the big man, deputising for the foreseeable due to Guglielmo Vicario’s broken ankle.

Yet there was nothing the England international could do about Roma’s leveller soon after, as N’Dicka rose highest to crash Dybala’s free-kick off the bar and in.

Ranieri thought his side had scored a brilliant second moments later - but Stephan El Shaarawy’s thunderbolt volley was chalked off for the narrowest of offsides.

Spurs stepped it up from there and had a Johnson shot was cleared off the line by ex-Manchester City man Angelino.

Then, on 34 minutes, the hosts retook the lead via a blistering counter-attack.

Sarr fired a perfectly-weighted ball into space up the pitch which Dejan Kulusevski hared onto, before crossing for Johnson to strike home first time.

Postecoglou’s punched the air in delight as the Welshman wheeled away to celebrate his ninth goal in 19 Spurs games this season.

It really should have been more before the break but when the ball rebounded back to Son after Kulusevski had struck the post, the South Korean somehow blazed over.

Ranieri’s side had the ball in the net twice early in the second half but both were chalked off because striker Artem Dovbyk was offside.

Pedro Porro then diverted an Angelino volley onto the crossbar - before hitting the Roma woodwork himself with a dangerous free-kick.

Spurs struck the upright for a third time when Dominic Solanke headed onto it.

It would prove to be costly because after Forster had made two excellent stops late on, Roma would not be denied when Hummels converted at the death.

Tottenham keeper Fraser Forster was hailed by Lionel Messi and his exes include Apprentice star and Neighbours actress

Description

FRASER Forster is set for an extended run in the Tottenham first team, following an injury to first choice No1 Guglielmo Vicario.

The unlucky Italian has undergone surgery on a fractured ankle suffered in a match against Man City and faces "months" out, according to Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

But that won't faze seasoned pro Forster, 36, who will be a welcome face in the dressing room before a match day.

It has been said that the shotstopper has been good for team morale as the joker of the pack amongst his teammates.

While his goalkeeping ability has been hailed in the past by Argentinian legend, Lionel Messi.

Away from the pitch, Forster has also had celebrity romances in the past.

SunSport delves in the world of the former England goalie.

"He performed inhumanely"

Forster came through the ranks at Newcastle, but he first earned notoriety playing for Celtic.

After a loan spell in Scotland in the 2011-12 season, he was snapped up by The Bhoys the following summer for £2million.

It was the 2012-13 campaign where the giant goalie, who stands at 6ft7in, produced a performance that was hailed as "the best goalkeeper display I've ever seen" by Lionel Messi.

Forster played twice in the group stages against the Argentinian, including in one of the most famous night's in the club's recent history.

Celtic, incredibly, beat a Barcelona team that featured Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Alexis Sanchez, Dani Alves, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and more 2-1 in Glasgow.

Forster's display left a lasting impression on the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

After that match, in which he made seven saves, he earned the nickname 'The Great Wall of Glasgow'.

Messi even admitted that Barcelona considered signing him.

"Fraser Forster's performance against us was talked about for a long time," Messi said, according to the Daily Star.

"There was a game in Scotland where he performed inhumanly, it's the best goalkeeper performance I've seen."

The Argie World Cup winner added: "When Victor Valdes said he was leaving, we even talked about him playing here. I was sure that he would end up at Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United."

Famous exes

Not only is Forster popular with one of the best players of all-time, he's also dated celebrity women.

In 2009, he met future The Apprentice star Leah Totton when she was studying medicine at University of Anglia.

They dated for four years, before splitting up as she geared up to star on the reality TV hit.

Leah and Forster rekindled their romance after she won the 2013 show, but it wasn't to be - with the long-distance romance fizzling out.

She went on to launch the Dr Leah Botox Clinic, and has been very successful in her own right.

In 2018, Forster was then reported to be dating Aussie soap beauty, Olympia Valance.

The Neighbours beauty received a large bouquet of red roses on her birthday from the giant keeper.

She posed excitedly with the flowers, captioning the snap: "The birthday that keeps on giving. What a surprise @fraserforster!!!! I've literally never seen so many roses! THANK YOU!!!!!'

Valance sent tongues wagging again when she posted a picture of her and a mystery man enjoying a date in Los Angeles, which was believed to be Forster.

It's not known why it didn't work out. Beforehand, Valance had her own celebrity romance with One Direction star Niall Horan.

Joker in the pack

Although Vicario's injury will be a blow for Spurs, Forster will offer a much-needed morale boost in the dressing room.

Many of his former teammates have said that he is the joker of their team.

Most recently, Timo Werner was asked in a chat with the Premier League's YouTube channel who is his funniest teammate is.

He said: "I love a lot about Fraser Forster and his jokes, but in terms of funny actions, I think Emerson Royal."

This was backed up by Micky Van de Ven who previously said to the same question: "Fraser Forster! He’s always joking around in the changing room."

Former teammate Mohamed Elyounoussi also joked that Forster was a “class clown” during his time at Celtic.

"Fraser is a really good guy,” he said in the Scottish Sun back in 2019.

"At Southampton I talked to him a lot and in the end we were in the same situation. He was always quite positive down there.

"I’d say he was kind of a clown, he talked a lot and made a few jokes. He’s still the same guy here.

"Fraser is a quality keeper. I think he was the best goalkeeper down at Southampton. He’s amazing when he’s at his best."

The pair met as teens in Solihull, West Midlands at secondary school, with Sasha previously saying they have been together since she was 15.

Jack was already on his way to becoming a professional footballer when he met Sasha.

Despite the long-term nature of their relationship, she remained on the sidelines when his career took off.

However, intense interest in Jack's private life came to a head in 2021 when England reached the final of Euro 2020, delayed a year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Because of their romance, Sasha was cruelly targeted by trolls on TikTok and Instagram, receiving 200 death threats a day from "young girls".

The pair were spotted on holiday together following the tournament and slowly began showing more of their relationship on social media when the vile trolling died down.

In 2022, they celebrated their 10-year anniversary and purchased a seven-bed mansion set in 24 acres worth £5.6 million.

They moved in to the home in late 2023, but Sasha and members of Jack's family were subject to a terrifying robbery while cheering on the Manchester City star during a televised match just after Christmas.

Man City 0 Tottenham 4: Pep Guardiola loses FIVE in a row for first time ever as Spurs run riot at Etihad

Description

THIS was supposed to be the day Manchester City were celebrating.

Celebrating the news that their all-conquering boss, Pep Guardiola was staying for another two seasons after agreeing to a new deal.

And celebrating Rodri being crowned the winner of the Ballon d’Or as the best player on the planet.

A spectacular light show greeted him before kick-off, and his teammates gave him a guard of honour.

The familiar refrain of ‘we’ve got Guardiola’ to the tune of Glad All Over’ went round the ground as the boss made his way from the dressing room.

Then it was over to the Tottenham Hotspur fans as James Maddison enjoyed the biggest and best Birthday party he has ever had.

He turned 28 on this day and, with two goals inside the first 20 minutes, put Tottenham on their way to a famous victory.

What a way too for Ange Postecoglou to celebrate his 50th game in charge of the club.

Questions about the Aussie had started to be asked after three defeats in five league games.

But this was a ‘g’day’ for him as Spurs bounced into the top six.

CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERS

For City, well Guardiola had joked as his new contract was announced that if results did not pick up in the next month he could be on his way anyway.

How everyone chuckled, but this fifth defeat on the spin was no laughing matter.

Their worst home defeat since moving to this ground 21 years ago.

Man City has not been on a run like this since 2006, when then boss Stuart Pearce lost six in a row.

If Liverpool were to win at Southampton on Sunday the gap will stretch to eight points with just shy of a third of the season gone.

The two meet next weekend at Anfield.

Lose that, and City’s quest for a fifth consecutive title will be over before Christmas.

They just don’t look the same City right now.

We were putting that down to the uncertainty over the boss and whether the players had taken their foot off the pedal.

The midweek news was supposed to have given them a Pep up but despite having 23 shots they could not find the net.

They miss Rodri, who is out for the season.

They miss a fully fit Kevin De Bruyne.

Phil Foden has looked tired all season.

There were chances before Spurs broke the deadlock.

They fell to finisher supreme Erling Haaland, who also hit the bar in the second period.

The game was just four minutes old when he was set up by Josko Gvardiol, who would go on to have a half to forget.

The near bottom corner beckoned, but Haaland’s shot deflected off Ben Davis’ heel and went wide.

Savinho was then the provider and this time Guglielmo Vicario’s outstretched leg denied him adding to his 15 goals this season.

Then in the 13th minute against the run of play Spurs struck.

Dejan Kulusevski likes it here. He has scored on his last three visits, including a last-minute equaliser last season.

On this occasion, he was the provider and what a provider he is.

Before this game he had created 30 chances, the most of any player in the Premier League this season and added another for the opener.

He made mincemeat of Gvardiol down the right flank to give himself space to cross and then delivered a ball to the far post which Maddison volleyed home with his instep.

A setback became a major problem for the home side when Spurs extended their lead on 20 minutes.

Gvardiol’s loose pass was leapt on by Maddison, who fed Son and then did an overlapping run behind his teammate.

The ball was fed back to him and he dinked it past Ederson.

It could have been more before the break as Son’s curler to the far top corner was well saved by Ederson who also used his fingertips to deny Dominic Solanke’s shot.

The last time City were two goals down at the break was in January of 2023 to, guess who, Tottenham.

On that occasion, they roared back to win 4-2.

Not this time.

Spurs were further ahead just seven minutes into the second-half with City all over the place again.

Their attack broke down thanks to Spurs hounding the ball down.

They do that at their best and break with great efficiency.

Kulusevski was involved again, playing a deep ball to the far side of the boss for Solanke to pull back for Pedro Porro to side foot home with a powerful shot that curled away from the goalkeeper.

Porro spent three years at City after an £11million move from Girona but bizarrely never got a game as he was farmed out on loan.

So this will have been special for him.

In injury time two subs combined as Timo Werner sent a ball to the far post for Brennan Johnson to slide home.

For Guardiola this was a seventh defeat at the hands of Spurs in the Premier League more than any other opponent.

It is Feyenoord at home in the Champions League on Tuesday next then that trip to Liverpool.

They have roared back before and they really need to find their voice now.

Tottenham release new badge with major change but confused fans say 'seems pointless'

Description

TOTTENHAM have released a new club badge which features a major change - but fans say it "seems pointless."

Spurs' current crest features the clean look of a cockerel standing on a football.

Underneath the emblem are the words 'Tottenham Hotspur'.

And supporters have been used to the simplistic style ever since the badge was marginally scaled back in 2013.

However, a new badge has now been released.

And it has removed the words from under the football to make for an even more basic look.

An official statement confirmed: "We have removed the curved ‘Tottenham Hotspur’ text from beneath the cockerel.

"This enables us to increase its scale across different environments and stand proud as a true icon for the Club."

But there has been a mixed reception towards the new look from fans.

One said: "Seems pointless."

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

Another declared: "Would've got rid of the chicken and ball."

One noted: "A big difference."

Another added: "Wow great change."

Founded in 1882, Spurs only started wearing the cockerel on their badge in 1921.

It was a special addition to Tottenham's kit for their FA Cup final against Wolves.

Spurs won the match - which took place at rival side Chelsea's Stamford Bridge - 1-0.

And the cockerel has been a permanent fixture on the official club crest ever since.

Between 1921 and 1972 the cockerel remained on its own before a football was added below.

It then underwent a variety of detailed transformations before the words 'Tottenham Hotspur' were added in 2006.

And style-wise, Spurs' new badge most closely resembles the "additional" one they had between 1973 and 1981.
