Tottenham now look set to face heavy competition for the signing of Lille midfielder Angel Gomes, with Manchester United, Aston Villa, and West Ham United among those entering the race, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

Gomes is set to be out of contract at Lille in the summer, meaning clubs can sign him on a pre-contract agreement for him to join for nothing. A host of clubs are considering a move to secure his signature, with Spurs one of the sides keen.

The England international has previously plied his trade in England for Manchester United but moved to France to play regular senior football. Gomes has flourished in Ligue 1, but he could be set to return to the Premier League in the coming months.

Tottenham Face Competition for Angel Gomes

West Ham, Man Utd, and Aston Villa keen

The future of Gomes remains uncertain as Tottenham Hotspur struggle to finalise a deal, opening the door for rival clubs to enter the race, according to GIVEMESPORT sources. Despite pursuing Gomes since the start of January, Spurs have yet to agree on all terms for a pre-contract, allowing other teams to ignite their interest in recent days.

Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Manchester United, and West Ham are all believed to be monitoring the situation closely. Villa hold a strong interest in the midfielder and could present an appealing option for Gomes. Manchester United, his former club, have long considered a potential return but have yet to make any concrete move.

Bournemouth are also keeping Gomes in mind as they prepare their summer transfer plans, viewing him as a possible replacement if they lose key players. Meanwhile, West Ham have maintained contact since January, exploring potential terms for a move.

With Archie Gray potentially set for an extended role in midfield next season, Spurs may reassess their need for Gomes. Nevertheless, his availability presents an attractive market opportunity, though the club remains cautious about ensuring any signing aligns with their long-term squad building.

Tottenham Want to Sign 'Exceptional' Forward with £43m Release Clause

Tottenham Hotspur are among the list of several clubs that have shown interest in former Premier League forward and Italian international Moise Kean.

Kean, the former Everton striker, has seemed to be around forever. Yet, he is only 24, and he now appears to be finally putting things together in Italy. He is showing great form this term, scoring 19 goals in 28 games in all competitions for Fiorentina.

Now Ange Postecoglou has earmarked him as a potential target for next season to compete with Dominic Solanke in the number nine position.

Tottenham Hotspur to Move For Moise Kean

Could Kean Flop in the Premier League Again?

According to CaughtOffside, the forward has a release clause of £43 million, and there are a number of Premier League clubs that are sniffing around to land the Italy international.

One of the teams that has shown significant interest in the player is Tottenham, and according to the report Kean - who has been described as "exceptional" - would be open to returning to England.

It's fair to say that Kean did not have a good spell in the Premier League with Everton earlier on in his career, but after enduring difficult spells at Juventus as well, he will have learned from these setbacks, as he has shown this term for Fiorentina.

Percentile Rank = Compared to positional peers from Europe's big five leagues across the last 365 days.

His statistics in front of goal this season aren't huge numbers, but it does show that he has become a lot more clinical and reliable, scoring more often than not when he does indeed pull the trigger.

The striker clearly has something special about him otherwise he wouldn't have lasted long in the Juventus academy for all those years, and he wouldn't have been touched by PSG either. However, you do have to wonder where he would fit in at Spurs, considering they just spent big money to bring Dominic Solanke to the club last summer.

Why Tottenham Hotspur No Longer Want to be Called ’Tottenham’

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have asked broadcasters in an email to no longer refer to them as 'Tottenham', preferring either 'Spurs' or 'Tottenham Hotspur', according to The Athletic.

It's hardly been a season that Spurs fans expected before it began. Injuries have completely derailed the Lilywhites’ campaign and, with just nine wins from 25 games, Ange Postecoglou’s side are currently 12th in the Premier League, having lost 13 of those matches.

Finally, it appears that some players are back to, or very close to being at, full fitness, with Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven, James Maddison and many more having been forced to spend time on the sidelines due to injury. Spurs have won their last two Premier League matches, against Brentford and Man United, in hopes of returning to form.

Desperate for a trophy, Spurs’ only option now realistically lies in the Europa League, having exited both domestic cups. Now, it would appear the club, still under the ownership of Daniel Levy – who is a controversial figure in north London – have made a request to broadcasters about their name on television coverage.

Tottenham Hotspur or Spurs

Guidance offered by club to media

Per The Athletic, Spurs sent an email to broadcasters of the Premier League earlier in February, simply titled 'Tottenham Hotspur Naming Update', which read:

“Tottenham Hotspur have provided clarification regarding the club’s name. They have requested that the club are primarily known as Tottenham Hotspur, with Spurs being the preferred short version. The club have requested that they are not referred to as Tottenham.”

Why have Spurs made this request? The club’s explanation is simple: Tottenham is the name of the area, but not the name of the club itself.

From the ownership’s perspective, 'Spurs' is certainly a tag associated with the club that could generate revenue, as there are no other English clubs known by such a name. It stands out compared to the number of City’s, United’s and Albion’s that are within the English pyramid. As also explained in the article, Spurs have preferred not to be called just “Tottenham” since 2011.

'Spurs', then, could offer the club a greater global reach as the name is recognisable to many, with or without reference to the area from which the club originate.

Tottenham, however, is an area that will forever be intrinsically linked to the club. The Lilywhites have never played anywhere but north London, excluding their brief stay at Wembley while their spectacular new stadium was built. Tottenham may be the location, but a mention of the place’s name will immediately make somebody think of the football team.

For Levy to seemingly hope for a move away from being known by the place from which they originate is to make another decision that fans will view as controversial. While broadcasters have acknowledged and taken on board what has been asked of them, it remains to be seen just how much fan reaction there is to the decision taken by the club.

Exclusive: Tottenham Want to Sign £135m Duo as Levy Eyes Four Huge Deals

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has set his sights on acquiring Southampton star Tyler Dibling and Borussia Dortmund talisman Jamie Gittens after making a plan to lure homegrown talent to Hotspur Way in the summer, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Spurs were among the busiest Premier League sides during the winter transfer window as, in the final hours of deadline day, Mathys Tel joined on an initial loan deal which includes an option to complete a permanent switch worth up to £45million from Bundesliga table-toppers Bayern Munich.

The Frenchman's arrival came after Antonin Kinsky and Kevin Danso were also lured to Tottenham midway through the campaign, with there being an obligation to buy the latter for £20.9million after reaching an agreement with Ligue 1 outfit Lens, Postecoglou is working closely with technical director Johan Lange to identify future recruits.

Spurs Set Sights on Dibling and Gittens Deals

Duo seen as options as north Londoners seek homegrown talent

Tottenham have identified Dibling and Gittens as key targets after putting a fresh transfer strategy in place to boost their homegrown quota ahead of next season, according to GMS sources, but there is an awareness that they could face an uphill battle to get both deals over the line when they enter negotiations.

Although Spurs could look to profit if Southampton suffer relegation to the Championship as they go in search of landing Dibling, the south coast side decided they were unwilling to entertain bids which fell below £55million during the winter window due to being desperate to keep the 19-year-old wide forward on board.

GMS sources have been informed that Tottenham came close to making a breakthrough in their bid for an agreement in January before deciding Saints' demands were out of reach and there was not confidence that he wanted to complete a mid-season switch, while Gittens would also be an expensive acquisition.

The England under-21 international has a £80million price tag heading into the summer, having put himself at the forefront of Borussia Dortmund's plans in a testing season, meaning Spurs will have to shatter their club-record outlay if they want to win the race for his signature in the coming months.

Tottenham decided it would be impossible to recruit Gittens while the winter transfer window was open for business, GMS sources have learned, and they could face difficulties in their attempts to convince him to join Postecoglou's charges as domestic rivals Chelsea and Arsenal are also circling.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Jamie Gittens has been averaging a goal every 170 minutes in the Champions League this season

Postecoglou Remains Interested in Guehi Move

Crystal Palace rejected big-money offer for central defender

GMS sources have been told that Crystal Palace central defender Marc Guehi has also remained a key target for Tottenham despite being left frustrated when they tried to wrap up a deal midway through the season, but Chelsea are the frontrunners to reach an agreement and there is additional competition coming from overseas.

Spurs tested the resolve of the 24-year-old's current employers by lodging a £70million bid in the final days of the winter transfer window, but the Eagles held firm and Postecoglou is having to weigh up whether to head back to the negotiating table when the next opportunity arises.

Dibling, Gittens and Guehi's hefty valuations are significant stumbling blocks as Tottenham aim to fill their homegrown quota, GMS sources understand, but the north Londoners have been looking at the situation since last summer and are under some pressure to balance their squad build.

GMS sources recently revealed that Spurs looked into the possibility of signing Angel Gomes last month or tying him down to a pre-contract agreement ahead of leaving Lille as a free agent in the summer, and they have remained interested in their push to secure fresh homegrown talent.

£50m Tottenham Target Feels ‘Disrespected’ by Current Club, Wants PL Move

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tottenham Hotspur could take advantage of a whirlwind story from the Champions League this week, in their pursuit to sign a wide attacker in the summer transfer window - with Atalanta star Ademola Lookman's criticism from manager Gian Piero Gasperini potentially opening the door to a return to the English capital.

Lookman stepped up to the penalty spot in Atalanta's game against Club Brugge in midweek, missing his chance that would have dragged the Italian side to within two goals of their Belgian counterparts on aggregate - and despite scoring the goal to kickstart the comeback, his boss took aim at him.

Tottenham Could Revisit Move for Ademola Lookman

The winger has seen his Atalanta future turn upside down in recent days

Lookman's missed penalty certainly irked Gasperini, who blasted the winger by stating that the foward is one of the 'worst penalty takers he has ever seen', lambasting his 'frankly terrible record' from 12 yards.

And Lookman has since gone public to state how he feels 'deeply disrespected' by his boss after his outburst. Lookman posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

"Being singled out in the manner I have been not only hurts but feels deeply disrespectful, not least because of the immense hard work and commitment I have always put in each and every day to help bring success to this club and to the incredible fans of Bergamo.

“In truth, I have dealt with many difficult moments during my time here the majority of which I have never spoken about because in my opinion the team must always be protected and must come first. This makes what happened last night even more hurtful.”

Subsequently, GIVEMESPORT sources said back in December that Tottenham were keeping a close eye on the Nigeria winger, having sent scouts to watch him in recent months - and despite failing to excel in the Premier League earlier in his career with Everton, Fulham and Leicester City, the attacker has improved massively since then and big top-flight teams such as Tottenham are watching him as he continues to earn praise, being called 'unstoppable' by Markus Fjortoft.

We also told how Lookman's admirers were wondering whether he would be able to adapt to their systems, but Lookman was open to a return to England - which is encouraging for Tottenham - despite cautions over whether he'd be able to maintain his current levels outside of Atalanta's system, where he scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Ademola Lookman has eight goals in 27 caps for Nigeria.

Unwilling to let the £50m-rated Lookman depart in the January transfer window, a summer move was deemed as more realistic - and Tottenham, smelling blood from his recent fall-out with Gasperini, could see a move work in their favour if they decide to plunge for a move.

Exclusive: Chelsea 'Frontrunners' Ahead of Tottenham to Sign £70m 'Superstar'

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Chelsea remain the frontrunners in the race to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, but they will have to fend off significant competition both from within the Premier League and abroad.

The England international is set to be one of the most in-demand centre-backs this summer, with top clubs across Europe monitoring his situation closely.

Our understanding is that Bayern Munich are among the teams keeping a close eye on Guehi and could even look to strike a deal at the end of the season. Having already secured Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, the German giants are considering a move for the 23-year-old, with defensive reinforcement on the agenda.

Blues Viewing Guehi as Ideal Defensive Signing

Centre-back poised to tick into final 12 months of contract

Bayern Munich are not alone in their interest, as other major clubs on the continent are expected to explore a deal once Guehi enters the final 12 months of his contract.

For now, the Crystal Palace "superstar" remains fully focused on his football and is refusing to be drawn into discussions about his future. His priority is finishing the season strongly in his current surroundings and maintaining his place in the England squad.

However, those close to the situation believe he is ambitious and will be open to new challenges when the summer transfer window arrives.

Chelsea’s interest in bringing back their former academy graduate is well-documented. The Blues have admired Guehi for some time and view him as the ideal defensive reinforcement.

Ahead of the winter deadline earlier this month, we reported how they explored various centre-back options but ultimately decided that waiting for Guehi in the summer was the smarter move. That patience could pay off, as there is a strong belief within the club that they will be in pole position to secure his signature.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Marc Guehi made four clearances and as many tackles during Crystal Palace's defeat to Everton last weekend

Maresca Could Face Battle with Domestic Rivals

Tottenham and Newcastle also among England international's suitors

However, Chelsea will not have it all their own way. Tottenham Hotspur made a serious attempt to sign Guehi in January but failed to convince Crystal Palace to sell. While Spurs are expected to return to the table in the summer, there is less confidence that they will win the race.

Newcastle United, another long-term admirer, have also previously tried to sign him and remain interested. Crystal Palace have valued Guehi at £70million, but suitors are likely to test their resolve with lower offers once the window opens.

With just a year left on his contract at that stage, there is a belief that the south Londoners may have to compromise on their asking price. But a battle for his signature is perhaps the best way to maintain a valuation close to the figure recently touted.

For Chelsea, the deal makes sense on multiple levels. They would be bringing back a player they developed, who is now an established England international, and he would arrive in his prime years.

The Blues also believe they can meet his professional ambitions while offering a financial package that would be highly competitive. With multiple clubs circling, Guehi’s future is far from decided. But as things stand, Chelsea are pushing hard to bring him back to Stamford Bridge, and they are growing in confidence that they can win this battle.

Dan Kilpatrick Shares 'Very Interesting' Tottenham Takeover Update

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Daniel Levy staying at Tottenham Hotspur in the event of a successful takeover could spark further unrest among supporters, journalist Dan Kilpatrick has suggested.

Reports last week claimed potential Qatari investors looking to buy Spurs may be open to allowing Levy to retain his role as executive chairman and offering him a new long-term contract.

Kilpatrick has backed up these rumours, suggesting Levy wants to stay even if ENIC, which owns 86.91% of the club, becomes a minority shareholder, but admitted that any move to keep the 63-year-old in place could provoke a major backlash from fans.

Tottenham supporters' discontent with Levy has been growing in recent weeks, with more than 1,000 attending a protest against him before Sunday’s win over Manchester United.

Levy ‘Would Like’ to Remain at Spurs

Even if a takeover is completed

Speaking on the Rule The Roost podcast, Kilpatrick revealed that Qatari investors are indeed interested in buying Spurs, while Levy is keen to retain his position under new ownership:

“There has been interest from Qatar. And I think it is fair to say that it’s kind of well-known and well talked about that Levy would kind of like to stay on in the event of ENIC becoming potentially a minority partner.

“You know, I haven’t written that because I haven’t kind of been able to double source it. But I don’t mind saying it because it’s been reported and yeah, it’s been rumoured for a while.

“I mean, in terms of my take on that, I find it very, very interesting because I think Levy does feel like, I hesitate to say the word toxic because it might be a bit strong, but you know, obviously there’s a lot of unrest towards him by supporters.

“So it would be, it’s almost hard to imagine that a company would buy Spurs and then say we want to keep this guy who’s a kind of lightning rod for frustrations in place.”

A report from The Guardian last week claimed that prospective Tottenham buyers would be keen to retain Levy’s expertise if they complete a takeover, which could be structured as a phased buyout.

While the identity of the bidders remains unclear, it has been suggested they are private individuals rather than a government-backed group, similar to the one that attempted to buy Man United two years ago.

Tottenham have endured a disappointing Premier League season so far, winning just nine of their 25 games and sitting 12th in the table heading into Saturday's visit to Ipswich Town.

Concerns have also been growing over manager Ange Postecoglou’s future, though the Australian is expected to see out the season before any decision is made.

Exclusive: Tottenham 'Confident' of Signing 'Record-Breaking' Star This Summer

Tottenham Hotspur fans could have something huge to celebrate at the end of the season after what has been nothing short of a treacherous campaign for fans of the north London club - with Dean Jones exclusively telling GIVEMESPORT that the club are growing 'increasingly confident' of landing Bayern Munich loanee Mathys Tel on a permanent deal.

Tel joined Tottenham on deadline day despite interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, and he scored his first goal for the club against Aston Villa in the FA Cup just over a week ago to mark his arrival in England. And with that in mind, the Premier League outfit could see him join permanently next season in what would be a huge boost to their ranks.

Jones: Tottenham 'Confident' of Landing Mathys Tel Permanently

The Bayern Munich star could be on his way out of the Bundesliga

Jones wrote in his GIVEMESPORT transfer notebook that Tottenham are growing in optimism over their chances of keeping Tel at the club, as Daniel Levy and Ange Postecoglou look forward to next season with a young, hungry squad.

The Frenchman is thought to be loving life in the capital, embracing the challenges that Tottenham are currently facing head-on, whilst enjoying the culture of the UK. Although there isn't an obligation to sign him as part of the loan deal agreed with Bayern, there is an option to discuss a permanent deal beyond that period.

Tel must be open to the move for that to happen, and GMS sources have indicated that he is enjoying his time in north London - whilst Tottenham are extremely keen to sign him permanently as they aim to bolster their attack for the future months.

It's thought that club chiefs are concerned over long-serving star Son Heung-min, with sources stating that the South Korean star - who is the fifth-highest goalscorer in the club's long history with 172 strikes to his name - may struggle to hold onto his place in the starting XI, if the club's attackers are all fit.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Mathys Tel scored 16 goals in 83 games for Bayern Munich.

Tel will also have other offers from the Premier League and across Europe, but he's currently enjoying London and embracing the challenge at Tottenham - which means that the club have a huge chance of extending his stay in north London if they can keep him happy for the next few months of his loan spell.

Tottenham ‘Pushing Hard’ to Sign ‘Phenomenal’ Star Daniel Levy Personally Wants

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to beat other European clubs to the signing of former Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes in the coming months, with the Lille star set to run down his contract at the French club - with suggestions that the north London outfit are 'pushing hard' to land the diminutive playmaker.

Spurs have had a tumultuous season in the Premier League, but with their injured stars returning to action, a top-half finish is still not out of the picture - sitting just eight points behind 10th-placed Brighton. And, if they can finish valiantly, it will give them confidence to pick up recruits at the end of the season - with Gomes being touted for a move to the capital, given that Daniel Levy 'personally wants him'.

Report: Tottenham 'Pushing Hard' for Angel Gomes Signature

The north London club are keen on bolstering their squad

The report from TBR Football states that Tottenham are stepping up their efforts to sign Gomes on a free transfer in the summer, with Ange Postecoglou keen on bolstering his creativity in midfield.

Gomes earned his first four caps for England at the start of the season under Lee Carsley, having had success through the former Three Lions boss at under-21 level - and since then, he's excelled in Ligue 1, which has led to him being called 'phenomenal' by journalist Alex Turk.

Having been on Tottenham's radar for some time - with the club having kept tabs on him since October - he will be out of contract in the summer at Lille, and he is already attracting interest from plenty of European sides in the process. But Tottenham are now 'pushing hard' to land Gomes, having been in talks with him over the winter months alongside Jonathan David, even though they were unsuccessful in their endeavours.

The report states that Gomes is also being chased by Barcelona, though he is considering his options and a return to the Premier League is possible, having left the country almost five years ago to join the French club, which included a loan deal at Boavista.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Angel Gomes made 10 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United.

Tottenham have made an offer to Gomes to get him to move to north London, and though former club Manchester United and West Ham United have also made their interest known, Postecoglou will be hopeful of landing him to add to his young midfield ranks that include the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Pape Matar Sarr.

Tottenham: Update on Djed Spence's Attitude From People who Know him

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Rumours of Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence having a bad attitude have been quashed after he returned to North London with a transformed mindset following an eye-opening spell in Italy, according to journalist Jay Harris.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a career revival under Ange Postecoglou in recent weeks, and according to Harris, it may be down to his impactful spell in Serie A during the 2023/24 season.

He revealed that Spence has matured significantly following his loan at Genoa, where he played against some of the biggest clubs in Italy, and the experience made him realise he needed to ‘knuckle down’ to succeed at the highest level.

Spence has been a regular for Spurs amid their injury crisis this season, making 18 appearances and registering three goal involvements across all competitions.

Djed Spence Reborn at Tottenham

After an impactful spell at Genoa

Harris, speaking on The View from The Lane podcast, revealed that Spence’s recent spell at Genoa helped him save his Tottenham career:

“I’ve spoken to people who know him quite well, and they’ve said that Spence is a bit introverted, and he can be quite aloof.

“And so there are times when people probably have misinterpreted that as him not caring or him having a bad attitude. But I think what we’re seeing before us now is a 24-year-old who was a young boy.

“He’s a young man now. Apparently, during his time in Italy with Genoa, that was quite a powerful experience for him because Leeds didn’t work out for a number of different issues, but mainly because he had quite a bad knee injury, which ruled him out, I think, for two and a half months, three months in total.

“So he’s gone from barely getting a game in the championship to playing at the San Siro twice with Genoa.

“And so he’s returning to Spurs, and he’s thinking, 'wow, if I want to kick on with my career at the highest level, I seriously need to knuckle down'. He did that.”

Spence was linked with a permanent Tottenham exit last year but managed to convince Postecoglou to give him another chance with the senior squad.

The London-born ace has enjoyed regular Premier League minutes recently, starting in six of the last eight games and also impressing against Manchester United last weekend.

He has now been tipped to ‘start every game for Spurs’, despite injury absentee Destiny Udogie nearing his return to first-team action.

Tottenham have climbed up to 12th in the Premier League following their United win and will next face Ipswich Town away on Saturday.
