9 Top Goalscorers in Tottenham History (Ranked)

Highlights

Tottenham have had countless world-class strikers take to the famous hallowed turf at White Hart Lane.

Jimmy Greaves scored 268 goals and held the record for over 50 years.

Spurs' greatest strikers include Bobby Smith, Martin Chivers, and Heung-min Son, all with impressive goal-scoring records.

Every club has their list of all-time top goalscorers. Those who ply their trade for the club in the final third always dream of getting onto it, knowing it cements their status in history. From the greatest attackers of all time to those who do the hard work quietly, everyone still has the same aspirations.

Tottenham Hotspur players are no different. The club's motto, audere est facere, which translates to 'to dare is to do' in English, outlines that players should play with belief, freedom and an intention to continually attack. Over the years, some of the greatest players of all time have played for Spurs as well, impressing fans who travel every week.

Some of these have been world-class goalscorers as well, so we have decided to rank the greatest strikers in the club's history. The record was beaten in February 2023, whilst only one current player features on the list. Spurs' attackers in the 1960s proved to be the most fruitful, helping them win the double in 1961.

To begin, Len Duquemin is an unknown name on this list compared to other players, but over an 11-year career in N17, he remarkably scored 134 goals — averaging nearly a goal every two matches. He foreshadowed his blossoming career in north London when he scored on his debut during a 5-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday, whilst he helped them win the First Division in 1951 — just a year after winning the Second Division. With the nickname of 'Reliable Len', he was known for his hard work rather than being a stylish player. Yet, despite that, he still places ninth on the all-time list.

As the oldest person on this list, George Hunt plied his trade for Spurs from 1930 to 1937. He joined from Chesterfield for a fee of £1,500, and quickly became the club's most prolific goalscorer. His 32 goals in the 1932/33 season helped Spurs secure promotion to the First Division.

In an aggressive footballing era, Hunt went against the grain, using his blistering pace to strike home. The striker's dynamic running and energetic attitude made him a firm favourite with the Spurs crowd. Whilst, despite lacking height, he utilised this once again to knock the ball past countless opponents.

Jermain Defoe, scorer of one of the quickest hat-tricks in Premier League history, is still one of the most underrated strikers in Premier League history. For Spurs, he scored 143 goals and helped the club win the Carling Cup in 2008. At his very best, he was ruthless — and, at his worst, he could still score a goal out of nothing.

His build allowed him to quickly run past defenders before his non-stop work ethic always saw him find a way into the penalty box. He passed the baton to Harry Kane in 2014, as he left behind 10 years of countless memories at White Hart Lane.

Cliff Jones, unlike most on this list, was not a conventional striker. Often playing out wide instead, he loved to cut in and take defenders on, helping Spurs win the double in 1961. He was the standout man in taking the stylish football philosophy of the team and making it sparkle.

As either a right winger or left winger, Jones was fearless, always daring to dream, which resonated with the Spurs fans who always shouted 'to dare is to do'. It led to him scoring 159 goals for Spurs — and that was enough for fifth place on the list until a legendary South Korean winger arrived on the scene.

Heung-min Son, Spurs' current club captain, is one of the greatest players in Premier League history — and no one expected that when he arrived in 2015 for £22million. He considered leaving after a year, but eventually found his feet in one of the best leagues in the world.

Since then, he has gone from strength to strength, forming a formidable partnership with Harry Kane whilst also scoring some of the best goals in recent memory. The most impressive thing about Son is his loyalty; he could have easily left N17, but he loves the club and wants to win a trophy with them. For that reason, there's still time for him to move up this list.

Moving on, Martin Chivers joined Tottenham in 1968 from Southampton and his debut goal against Sheffield Wednesday for the club foreshadowed his career. The UEFA Cup, which they won in 1972, was Chivers' most successful season. He scored 44 times in 64 first-team appearances, whilst he saved his most impressive form for the UEFA Cup, scoring eight times in 11 matches to help the club to victory. The striker was billed as 'Big Chiv' for his sturdy physique, natural strength, fast speed, big movements, and flashy shooting technique, but his work ethic was sometimes criticised throughout his career.

Tottenham's most successful spell in their history came during the 1960s. They became the first-ever English side to complete the double and the first side from the nation to win a European competition — in 1963. Joining in 1955 for £18,000 from Chelsea, Bobby Smith was an integral part of Bill Nicholson's side.

He was Tottenham's top scorer in the 1960/61 season, with 33 goals scored in 43 games, including the first of the two goals in the 1961 FA Cup Final. But Smith didn't stop there. He scored in the 1962 FA Cup as well in their 3-1 win against Burnley, cementing his legacy at the club.

After winning the double in 1961, Tottenham still wanted to improve, so they signed Jimmy Greaves, one of the greatest English players of all time, in December of that year. With 268 goals throughout his time in north London, he stood as the club's record goalscorer until a particular England captain came along.

Remarkably, the former Chelsea striker finished his career scoring 15 hat-tricks, which remains a club record. Greaves' ability to find space in the final third and produce powerful shots out of nothing was masterful — and he will forever be a Spurs legend.

Finally, Harry Kane is Tottenham's record all-time goalscorer. With 280 goals in just 430 games, he is seen as a hero by Tottenham fans, even though he left in the summer of 2023 for Bayern Munich. The England captain broke Greaves' record against Manchester City in February 2023, with a composed finish during a 1-0 win.

It epitomised his importance to the club, as he carried them on his back to multiple top-four finishes. Despite not winning a trophy in N17, Kane was truly 'one of their own', with his ability to drop deep, dictate the tempo of matches and spray balls out wide, coupled with his instincts in the penalty box, making him a legend in N17.

Aston Villa 'Interested' in Tottenham's Giovani Lo Celso

Highlights

Aston Villa and Real Betis are interested in Lo Celso, who Spurs are allowing to leave before the transfer window closes.

Villa have strengthened their midfield with additions such as Onana and Barkley and are eyeing Lo Celso to further bolster their squad.

Tottenham could sell Lo Celso cheaply due to contract expiration, while a potential player swap with Villa's Ramsey also discussed.

Aston Villa, alongside Real Betis, have been name-dropped as two clubs interested in Giovani Lo Celso by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who reveals Tottenham Hotspur are allowing the midfielder to leave before the summer transfer window closes.

Unai Emery and Co have enjoyed a fruitful summer in terms of incomings: Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley will bolster the engine room, Ian Maatsen will likely become the Spaniard’s utility man and Jaden Philogene will provide creativity on the wing.

But the Midlands-based outfit are seemingly not done with strengthening their squad ahead of an all-important season, one that includes Champions League action, and are monitoring the situation of Tottenham outcast Lo Celso.

Villa Interested in Lo Celso

Face competition from Spanish outfit Real Betis

Born and raised in Rosario, Argentina, the former Paris Saint-Germain man - previously described as 'magnificent' - has struggled to assert himself as a senior regular since making the move to Tottenham in the summer of 2020.

In fact, he has totted up just 10 goals and a further eight assists in 108 games for Spurs, with loan spells at La Liga duo Villarreal and Real Betis sandwiched in between his time spent in the English capital.

Now, taking to X (formerly Twitter), the ever-reliable Romano suggested that Lo Celso’s absence from Tottenham’s squad against Bayern Munich means his days in north London are numbered.

“Giovani Lo Celso was not part of the Tottenham squad today as he can still leave in the final 20 days. Real Betis and Aston Villa are interested and still keen with more clubs monitoring the situation."

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Postecoglou is keen to trim the fat of his squad this summer, which could leave Emery and his entourage in a favourable position at the negotiation table.

What’s even more enticing for the Villans is that Lo Celso’s current deal has just one year left to run and, as such, Tottenham could be tempted into selling him on the cheap in order to avoid the risk of losing him on a free next summer.

Previously, it was reported by Romano that a player swap deal – including the man in question and Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey – was on the cards, with both parties benefitting from the deal.

Jacob Ramsey Eyed by Tottenham Chiefs

Villa deal expires in the summer of 2027

As alluded to earlier, 23-year-old Ramsey is a player of interest to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium-based outfit and, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, Postecoglou and Co are wanting to strike a deal before the end of the month.

After forking out a club-record fee for Dominic Solanke, the north Londoners have shifted their focus to the middle of the park and Ramsey, who’s racked up north of a century of appearances for his current employers, has emerged as a primary option.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Ramsey has notched 13 goals and 12 assists in his 122-game Aston Villa career.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s departure has freed up space in the engine room and although Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall are great for the future, their lack of experience at the top level could prove to be a problem for the Greek-Australian boss.

Ramsey could find himself low down in the pecking order at Villa Park this summer with the aforementioned additions of Onana and Barkley, and a cross-country move to Tottenham could appeal to the highly-coveted midfield maestro.

Tottenham Interested in Signing Jonathan David After Solanke

Highlights

Tottenham are interested in signing striker Jonathan David, amidst concerns over Richarlison's future.

David's impressive goal-scoring record has attracted attention from several English clubs, and he's available for just £25 million this summer.

Alongside David, Tottenham are also pursuing Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey as a central midfield option.

Tottenham are considering making a move for Lille striker Jonathan David, amid doubts over the future of Richarlison, according to Football Insider.

David enjoyed a prolific campaign last season, netting 26 goals across all competitions for the French outfit. This exceptional form has inevitably sparked interest from several clubs, including the aforementioned Spurs, as well as the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham.

The 24-year-old is reportedly keen on a switch to the English top flight, and it's believed that due to his contract expiring in 12 months' time, Lille could be willing to accept an offer in the region of £25 million. Tottenham have added David to their striker shortlist, as the Lillywhites are preparing to find a successor to the possibly departing Richarlison, despite already signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for up to £65 million.

Spurs Want David

The in-demand striker will likely leave Lille this summer

A clinical period in Belgium for Gent earned David a move to Lille, joining the Ligue 1 side for €30 million in 2020. For Les Douges, the Brooklyn-born man has netted 19 goals or more in each of his last three seasons, and was described by Canadian broadcast journalist Tony Marinaro as "one of the best strikers in the world".

Now, with just a year remaining on his current deal, Lille are desperate to see some return on their investment in 2020, sparking a potential four-way tussle amongst English clubs for his signature.

United are said to have 'made contact' with the Ligue 1 side about the prospect of signing David, Chelsea are understood to have been 'seriously interested' in the Canadian, while West Ham were considering opening talks over a deal. However, the respective arrivals of Joshua Zirkzee and Niclas Fullkrug have perhaps put an end to some of these sides' pursuit of David, opening a path for Spurs to complete a deal.

Dominic Solanke arrived in North London last week from the Cherries, joining in a £65 million deal, and is expected to fill the number nine role in Ange Postecoglou's team. Football Insider suggest this may not be the club's final bit of business in the forward department, with David identified as a replacement for Richarlison.

Despite the Brazilian supposedly 'not pushing for a summer exit' from Tottenham, the report indicates that Spurs are poised to accept a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro-League for the former Everton striker. As a result, the North Londoners are plotting a cut-price move for David.

Spurs Interested in Jacob Ramsey

The midfielder may leave for more game time

Alongside a potential Richarlison replacement, Spurs are in the market for another central midfielder this summer, having already signed Archie Gray from Leeds. Postecoglou is seeking an energetic box-to-box profile, and has identified Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey as a potenial acquisition to fill this role.

Spurs are interested in signing Ramsey having completed the Solanke deal, and the player may be interested in the move as he's keen on playing more football next season. The 23-year-old started just eight Premier League games last season in an injury-ravaged campaign, and the arrivals of Ross Barkley and Amadou Onana at Villa Park could only force him further down the pecking order under Unai Emery.

Yves Bissouma Apologises as Tottenham Investigate Video He Posted

Yves Bissouma has apoligised for inhaling 'hippy crack' on Snapchat, admitting a 'severe lack of judgment.'

His actions have been criticised as 'brainless,' with potential legal and club sanctions ahead.

He's not the first Premier League star to be caught inhaling the substance.

Tottenham Hotspur star Yves Bissouma has apologised after footage of the midfielder inhaling a substance labelled 'hippy crack' was shared online. The former Brighton & Hove Albion man recorded the video himself doing the act and Ange Postecoglou's side have launched an investigation into the incident.

Bissouma joined Spurs from Brighton in 2022 and after a slow start to life with the London-based side, he flourished under Postecoglou last time out. He became an important figure in the middle of the park for the club. One year into the former Celtic boss' reign in charge, the club will have high expectations heading into the 2024/25 season. With footage of Bissouma's antics being shared just days before the campaign is set to get underway, though, it won't give fans much optimism.

Bissouma Recorded Himself Taking 'Hippy Crack' on Snapchat

He's been called 'brainless' by a witness

Last year, possessing laughing gas with the intent of getting high from it was made illegal. Repeat offenders face a risk of two years in prison, with an unlimited fine. As a result, it's difficult to know what was going through Bissouma's mind when he not only decided to inhale the gas, but he also filmed himself doing so. The incident came after Tottenham's most recent pre-season game against Bayern Munich and took place in a limousine. He then shared the video on his Snapchat account for all of his friends and followers on the platform to see.

Considering his status as a Premier League footballer, the midfielder's video will have almost certainly been viewed thousands of times pretty quickly. Speaking about the situation, one witness condemned Bissouma for his actions, labelling them brainless.

"It beggars belief any Premier League star would openly take hippy crack. It’s a criminal offence and Yves now likely faces a police probe, let alone severe club sanctions. The new season kicks off next weekend and he has let down every single Spurs fan. Boss Ange Postecoglou will see red. Sharing the footage himself is utterly brainless."

Bissouma Has Apologised for His Actions

He called the moment a 'severe lack of judgement'

After news broke of the situation, Bissouma released a statement apologising for his actions and deeming them a severe lack of judgement. He also acknolwedge the responsibiltiy he has as a professional footballer and the risks that come with taking laughing gas.

"I want to apologise for these videos. This was a severe lack of judgment. I understand how serious this is and the health risks involved, and I also take my responsibility as a footballer and role model very seriously."

Tottenham Could Try and Sign £80m Duo After Solanke - GIVEMESPORT
Description

Highlights

Premier League clubs are expected to continue splashing the cash during the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are among the sides aiming to upgrade their squads.

Ivan Toney, Eberechi Eze, Adam Wharton, Anthony Gordon, Kyle Walker-Peters and Lucas Paqueta have uncertain futures.

We still have three weeks remaining of the summer transfer window - and this is when things can start to become tasty.

The chance of a last-minute panic. The domino effect of other pending deals. In the blink of an eye, spectacular moves can spark into life.

Right now, there are plenty of players striving for the very top, so GIVEMESPORT has analysed the situations around six Premier League players who have the potential for big leaps to traditional top six clubs after Dominic Solanke completed a move from Bournemouth to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Ivan Toney

Brentford

Although he was given a hero's welcome on his return to Brentford training, Ivan Toney was not expecting to be back with the Bees for the new season and has been waiting for an opening at a bigger club.

He has been in view for Tottenham Hotspur as a cheaper solution for their attack in comparison to someone like Dominic Solanke, but now that deal has been completed it could put an end to any interest from Spurs in him.

The North London outfit would have been looking to pay around £40million for the England international, who was part of the Three Lions' squad in Germany for Euro 2024. Some clubs have shown concern around his attitude, but Tottenham were not of the same mind prior to signing Solanke.

Eberechi Eze has been linked with all of the country's biggest clubs, and has a clause valid this summer that would allow him to leave for £60million up front, with a further £8million payable in add-ons down the road.

That initial outlay is punchy - and one of the reasons Crystal Palace retain a certain level of optimism they will hold onto him beyond this summer’s window.

Chelsea and Tottenham have had an eye on the winger, but Manchester City are also a team to consider when they are offloading Julian Alvarez. The reigning Premier League champions are long-term admirers and looked into signing Eze a year ago, before he signed a new deal with the Eagles.

Adam Wharton

Crystal Palace

Palace fans will not want to hear any mention of this - and it does not get discussed as much as Eze leaving - but Adam Wharton’s future is worth bearing in mind.

Manchester City are admirers at a time when there are considerations about their midfield for next season and beyond. The England international is understood to be on their list of candidates to pursue.

The Sky Blues continue to consider adding another midfield option because of the weight and responsibility there is on Rodri to perform and be available every week. It is a situation the club are keen to address.

There are expected to be further departures from Manchester City this summer and if Kalvin Phillips finds a new club, it becomes more plausible they replace him.

Palace certainly do not intend to lose Wharton so soon after signing him, but they are aware of just how highly regarded he is in the Premier League.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Adam Wharton averaged 4.8 ball recoveries, three tackles and 1.5 clearances per Premier League outing during the 2023/24 campaign

Anthony Gordon

Newcastle United

At this moment in time, a transfer to Liverpool looks tricky because there is no obvious space for Anthony Gordon in the squad and Newcastle United are adamant they do not want to lose him.

But that potential swap deal with Joe Gomez that was mooted may lead to the issue coming up again and some sources have told GMS it would not be a surprise to see the Merseyside giants try again before the end of the window.

Gordon is a childhood Liverpool fan and while he has been happy at Newcastle, this is one of the few potential moves capable of turning his head.

But one of the keys is fitting him in. If there was the departure of someone such as Luis Diaz, who has had suitors this year, it could spark something.

Kyle Walker-Peters

Southampton

£20m-rated Kyle Walker-Peters has been linked with a transfer away from Southampton for some time, and the fact nothing has yet happened should not be read as meaning he will definitely be staying at St Mary’s.

There is a strong feeling that an exit is still on the cards and now that Emerson Royal’s Tottenham Hotspur departure for AC Milan is finally on the cusp of completion, their interest in Saints' first-choice right-back should be back in focus.

The fact he was brought up at Spurs, helps quotas within the squad make-up, and is versatile in terms of his positioning makes him a perfect option for boss Ange Postecoglou to consider bringing in.

It will need to be determined exactly how such a back-up role at Tottenham would be viewed by Walker-Peters though, as he is at a stage in his career where he will not want to be at a club just to make up numbers.

Lucas Paqueta

West Ham United

This is one that we can cross off the list for now, but a move away from West Ham United could be reignited further down the line. Lucas Paqueta was expected to join Manchester City this summer, but the switch has gone cold and sources do not expect it to happen.

Although the anticipated ban for betting breaches has loomed for a while, nothing has been decided yet on the outcome of the case.

Manchester City are not believed to be pursuing it any longer, and there is every belief he will be at West Ham for the coming season.

Highlights

Harry Kane ended his trophy drought with Bayern Munich's Visit Malta Cup success against former club Tottenham.

The striker refused to lift the trophy in the Tottenham Stadium despite ending the game with the captain's armband.

Kane received praise from fans online after showing immense respect for his old club in the post-match celebrations.

Harry Kane's long wait to get his hands on silverware has come to an end after winning the Visit Malta Cup for Bayern Munich. The prolific striker secured the prize in an extremely familiar place as the German outfit defeated Kane's old club Tottenham in their own backyard.

The Englishman scored 213 Premier League goals during his time with the north London club before making the difficult decision to depart and join European giants Bayern Munich. His pursuit of trophies played a big part in his choice to leave Spurs after spending almost two decades with the club.

His return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw him reunited with ex-colleagues such as Heung-min Son and supporters will have been delighted to see their heroic figure return. Kane played his part in the Bundesliga outfit's 3-2 victory against Ange Postecoglou's side.

Harry Kane Avoids Lifting Trophy

He ended the game as the captain but still didn't take the honour

The 31-year-old has received praise for his actions upon the full-time whistle. The ex-Spurs hitman had ended the game as the captain after Joshua Kimmich was substituted. However, Kane refused to be the man to wear the armband and lift the trophy in front of his old fans.

The above footage shows him handing the armband back to Kimmich. Further images showed Kane stuck to the background of the post-match celebrations. See the picture below:

He's still seen as a legendary figure in north London as he and fellow ex-Tottenham player Eric Dier were presented with special commemorative gifts upon their return. While he had little impact on the game after being brought on from the bench, all eyes would have been on Kane's actions afterwards.

Fans Praise Harry Kane

He's been heralded as 'a really good bloke'

Supporters of the Lilywhites were quick to take to social media to state their admiration for the way their former striker handled himself, with one X user saying: "Man of principles. Class act by Harry Kane."

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Harry Kane is Tottenham's all-time record goalscorer, having found the net 280 times for the north London club.

While he's loved on to pastures new, Kane is still held in high regard by those who used to cheer him on each week. More fans stated their pride at being associated with the English talisman, with one saying: "He's genuinely a really good bloke and I'm proud he's one of our own," and another adding: "Legend. One of our own."

Having waited so long to see him lift silverware, it would have been a painful blow for Spurs fans to have seen him get too heavily involved in the celebrations. This was pointed out by another supporter, who claimed: "Fair play to him. The pictures of him lifting a trophy in our stadium even being a pre-season cup would have killed us."

Highlights

The Lilywhites have signed Dominic Solanke but still eye Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey for midfield reinforcement.

Postecoglou seeks energetic midfielders; Ramsey may leave Villa for more playtime at Spurs.

Tottenham not done strengthening, keeping an eye on Ramsey despite Villa's desire to hold on.

Tottenham want to sign Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey after completing a deal for Dominic Solanke, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge..

The Lilywhites have completed a club-record deal for the Cherries striker worth £65million, with the one-time England international putting pen to paper on a six-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But Ange Postecoglou is not done with strengthening his squad yet, and Villa star Ramsey has emerged as the next target that the manager wants to bring through the doors at N17.

Spurs Want to Sign Jacob Ramsey

Aston Villa midfielder is a target but they want to keep him

Spurs have not been afraid to splash the cash this summer after signing youngster Archie Gray from Leeds and sealing a club-record deal for Solanke, while bringing in Timo Werner on loan for another season.

But according to Michael Bridge, Spurs are still keen on an energetic central midfielder before the window closes with Villa academy product Ramsey namecheked as a target.

“I still think they are in the market for an energetic midfielder. They like Jacob Ramsey at Villa, but he scored in a friendly yesterday, and I think Villa are very keen to keep him."

Postecoglou has allowed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to join Marseille to create a space in midfield, while Gray has been joined by Lucas Bergvall ahead of the new season as an option for the manager to choose from.

But Ramsey, who has been described as "unbelievable" by Sky Sports pundit Ty Bracey, could add a new dimension to the team if he could be convinced to leave his boyhood club.

Villa have added to their midfield options this summer with the arrivals of Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley and Enzo Barrenechea, while Douglas Luiz and Tim Iroegbunam have both left the club.

Ramsey may find himself down the pecking order and despite having Champions League football at Villa Park, more regular first-team minutes could appeal to him should a bid be made for the 23-year-old.

Postecoglou's current midfield options include Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr plus Gray and Bergvall, with academy starlet Oliver Skipp expected to depart before the transfer deadline on August 30th.

Postecoglou Eyes O'Riley Reunion

Celtic star is wanted by several clubs

While Postecoglou looks to strengthen his midfield options in north London, his former Celtic star Matt O'Riley has reportedly emerged as an option.

The Denmark international is a target for several Premier League clubs, as well as Europa League winner Atalanta, but he is yet to leave Parkhead as they hold out for a club-record fee of £25million to allow him to depart.

According to insider Paul O'Keefe, Postecoglou has been "offered" the chance at a reunion with the 23-year-old this summer, but it seems unlikely that they pull the trigger on a move to sign him.

Southampton, Brighton and West Ham remain interested parties, with a deal expected to be found before the end of the window for him to leave Glasgow.

Tottenham are closing in on a £65m deal for striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

Solanke has agreed to a six-year deal with the Lilywhites, making him their top target.

Secret talks between the clubs have led to a club-record fee being agreed upon for the England international striker.

Tottenham are closing in on the "really massive" signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth after a round of private talks, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Lilywhites have made the England international their top target for the striker position and have agreed a deal worth £65million for the former Chelsea and Liverpool star, who hit 19 Premier League goals for the Cherries last season.

Talks between the clubs have been ongoing for days, and Romano has now revealed that a deal was reached after a round of secret talks that helped everyone get what they wanted.

Tottenham Close on Dominic Solanke Deal

Player has agreed a six-year deal

After talks were held with the seaside club, Bournemouth have agreed to sell their star striker for a club-record fee and manager Ange Postecoglou has got his top striker target for the new season.

Solanke was "desperate" to make the move to north London to prove himself as a top striker after missing out on a place in the England squad for Euro 2024, despite being the third highest-scoring English striker behind Harry Kane and Ollie Watkins.

The 26-year-old has agreed a six-year deal with Spurs and has put pen to paper already, with an announcement imminent. But Romano has shared how the deal came about while speaking to fans on his Playback stream.

"Tottenham are advancing on a deal to sign. Dominic Solanke. Many people denied. Someone said Ivan Toney. Many people said no contacts between Tottenham and Bournemouth, no bid, no negotiations.

"The truth is that things will happen behind the scenes because Tottenham were working in a secret way to get Dominic Solanke, and the deal today is done. So exclusive story confirmed, Dominic Solanke is the new striker. Ange Postecoglou will have his new striker. The deal is done for 65 million pounds guaranteed.

"Also many of you are asking me if it's guaranteed or not. I say almost because it's not totally guaranteed, but it's with add-ons. Some of these add-ons are easy. So from what I'm hearing is something around 57 million pounds plus add-ons.

This will be massive. This would be really massive. Dominic Solanke will be an important signing for for Spurs."

Brazilian striker Richarlison has been linked with a move away from N17 but has recently denied any interest in a transfer to Saudi Arabia, and looks set to battle it out with Solanke for a starting spot this season.

Heung-Min Son, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner are also all capable of playing in that position, while youngster Mikey Moore has shone in pre-season and could get first-team minutes this season.

Spurs Close to Emerson Sale

Brazilian set to join AC Milan

With Solanke on his way in, Emerson Royal is set to leave the club after a €15m deal plus add-ons was agreed with AC Milan for the Brazilian full-back.

Talks have been ongoing all summer about a move after Postecoglou signed Archie Gray from Leeds, which saw Emerson drop down the pecking order. Djed Spence has also impressed in pre-season and that further cemented the fact that Emerson is surplus to requirements, and he is now set to travel to Milan for a medical.

Emerson made 101 appearances over three seasons in north London, scoring four goals.

Who Tottenham Could Sign After Dominic Solanke

Highlights

Tottenham are nearing the signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

Postecoglou could be in the market for a defender and midfielder before the window closes at the end of the month.

Ivan Toney could be seen as a backup option ahead of the Premier League campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks with Bournemouth for a £60m deal for their prolific striker Dominic Solanke. The 26-year-old, who scored a season best of 19 goals in 38 Premier League games, has a release clause of about £65m. This was confirmed by Bournemouth owner Bill Foley in an interview last month, and Spurs look set to negotiate a fee below that for the striker.

It's been clear for a while now that Ange Postecoglou has wanted to strengthen his attack following England captain Harry Kane's exit for Bayern Munich last summer. While Solanke's capture will, of course, be key, there are a number of alternative talents that the North London club should target. This article presents three of them.

Castello Lukeba

RB Leipzig

Considering the strong Euros that Radu Dragusin had with Romania, Spurs' defensive situation has actually got a bit better. That said, more alternative options to both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, would be very helpful. The high-line holding pair have been effective in their time in the capital so far, yet, as the Athletic pointed out - Spurs' tailspin in November was due to injuries to both.

Out of the potential players that fit the mold of Postecoglou's current defensive set-up, a re-emerging name should be looked at in Castello Lukeba. Spurs have previously shown interest in the 21-year-old and it may be time to come good on that interest. Although his transfer value would be realistically be in excess of £40m, his acquisition could be worth the money.

A dynamic and reasonably fast defender, Lukeba makes up for the inches missing from his 6ft frame with solid jumping ability and agility. Moreover, while sometimes a little over-committed to challenges at his old club Lyon, time at RB Leipzig has seen him develop with experience. Additionally, a brief check of his FBREF numbers reflect that of an extremely progressive centre-back who can attack as well as defend.

Maxence Caqueret

Olympique Lyonnais

Given Spurs have seen their midfield change and fluctuate over the recent terms, back in May, the Athletic's Jack Pitt-Brooke noted that a more defensive-minded midfielder may be needed. While that role has been covered by the signing of Enzo Barrenechea for just under £7m, another fine option presents itself with yet another Lyon academy graduate, Maxence Caqueret. The hypothetical connection with Lukeba would link defence and midfield well, plus with the emergence of Pape Matar Sarr, Caqueret could prove to be a welcome addition if Giovani Lo Celso and Oliver Skipp eventually move on.

While the creative James Maddison impressed going forward before his ankle injury, and both Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur struggled with fitness and injury, respectively, Caqueret could be a welcome injection of determination and industry. Of similar style and stature to a previous target, Enzo Le Fee, now of Roma, Cacqueret has also been profiled for Spurs' midfield before. Now, or in a season's time, the 24-year-old's services could become more highly sought after. His current transfer value sits at around £20m if Lyon were to push his price up.

Ivan Toney

Brentford

If Spurs are in the market for another striking option, Ivan Toney has remained on Tottenham's radar. According to GMS sources the six-time England international could be available for less than £50million as Brentford enter desperate territory - avoiding the possibility of their talisman leaving as a free agent at the end of the upcoming campaign.

Toney, who has 36 Premier League goals in his last three seasons that have constituted 83 appearances, has entered the final 12 months of his £20,000-per-week contract at the Gtech Community Stadium. Having failed to tempt him into agreeing fresh terms, Thomas Frank's club are fearful of missing out on a lucrative fee if he is allowed to run down the remainder of his deal.

Description

Highlights

Tottenham are set to sign Dominic Solanke in a deal worth up to £65m, bolstering the club's striker options.

Solanke's move is set to be finalised by next week and he arrives with an impressive Bournemouth goal record.

Emerson Royal is heading to AC Milan in a deal worth over €15m having been deemed surplus to requirements.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to complete their signing of Bournemouth and England striker Dominic Solanke as by next week, according to The Times’ Gary Jacobs, who also revealed that the deal will be worth slightly less than £65 million.

Harry Kane’s departure gave Ange Postecoglou a tricky situation to deal with. Losing a striker the calibre of England’s all-time top goalscorer is no easy feat and the Greek-Australian chief was forced to use the likes of Son Heung-min in the striker berth.

Earlier today, however, The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed that Solanke, 26, has agreed a six-year deal to join Tottenham ahead of a summer move with the Cherries allowing him to depart for a club-record fee.

Solanke Move to Tottenham Set to Be Complete by Next Week

Deal worth below release clause fee

According to Jacobs of The Times, Tottenham are set to complete a deal – worth a fraction less than his £65 million release clause – for the former Chelsea and Liverpool ace.

After struggling to pull up trees at either of the aforementioned top flight duo, Solanke has been on Bournemouth’s books as their leading marksman. So much so, he’s since emerged as one of the Premier League’s best strikers, being labelled as "outstanding" by Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.

The Times’ report suggested that the Bournemouth centre-forward’s move from the south coast to north London is set to be completed very soon and as a result he’ll be in line to start the club’s first league outing against Leicester City.

Basingstoke-born Solanke, who has scored 77 strikes in his 216-game Bournemouth career, is coming off the back of the best return of his playing days with him plundering 21 goals and four assists in 42 outings across all competitions.

According to transfer insider Paul O’Keefe, Tottenham have agreed to pay an upfront fee of £30 million to the side on the south coast with another £27 million to be forked out across the centre-forward’s contract in north London - as well as further add-ons.

Emerson Royal Exit to AC Milan Now Sealed

Deal in excess of €15m agreed

In terms of outgoings, Tottenham’s Emerson Royal has agreed to sign for Italian outfit AC Milan, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed, after being limited to just 24 appearances – equating to a paltry 1,335 minutes of action – in 23/24.

Back in May, Emerson and his would-be buyers agreed personal terms and now, Romano has revealed that travel plans are underway in order for him to complete his medical in Italy.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Emerson has scored four goals and notched a further two assists in his 101-game Tottenham career.

The 25-year-old, who was signed from Barcelona in the summer of 2021, has been deemed surplus to requirements ahead of Postecoglou’s second season at the helm.

Pedro Porro’s arrival last summer meant that the Brazilian’s game time became ever so scarce in 2023/24 and the addition of Archie Gray from Leeds United only meant that his opportunities would be limited further in the north of the capital.
