Tottenham have won their last two meetings with Aston Villa, despite losing three on the spin beforehand, with Spurs also winning nine of their last ten trips to Villa Park, losing only one of their last 14 outings there.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Tottenham had three opportunities to end their 17-year trophy draught, that is now down to two, so another cup exit in the Midlands on Sunday would be hugely damaging.

On Thursday night, despite being 1-0 up from the first leg, Spurs' EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool was only going to produce one outcome, steamrollered 4-0 at Anfield.

Given that Ange Postecoglou's team are currently 14th in the Premier League, last Sunday's 2-0 victory at Brentford ending a seven-match winless run, in which they lost six times, the primary factor keeping the Aussie in a job is the belief that he can deliver silverware.

Well, Spurs are through to the Europa League round of 16, but that would be their only avenue to success, should they suffer defeat at Villa Park come Sunday evening.

As for Aston Villa, it's 29 years since they last captured major silverware, while the seven-time winners of this competition haven't hoisted aloft the famous old trophy since 1957.

Last month, the Villans began their quest to change those facts with a redeeming Friday night victory over West Ham, in which Amadou Onana equalised from close-range before Morgan Rogers poked home the winner shortly after.

More recently, Unai Emery's team have also reached the Champions League round of 16, thanks to a 4-2 home win over Celtic, set to face one of Atalanta, Dortmund, Sporting or Brugge in early March.

Despite this, the Claret and Blue Army's recent league form is far from impressive, beaten 2-0 at Wolves last weekend, meaning they're without a win in three, claiming victory from just one of their last eight on the road.

Nevertheless, Villa are still determined to progress in the FA Cup, so will they book their place in round five with victory over Spurs?

Aston Villa Team News

Aston Villa were busier than most during the January transfer window, meaning new recruits Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio could both debut here, while Axel Disasi cannot just yet as he's cup-tied.

Reinforcements were required, given that Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings, Matty Cash and Ross Barkley are injured, while Ollie Watkins is a doubt, having been withdrawn at halftime last weekend. Due to the lack of defensive options, Boubacar Kamara could continue to fill in at centre-back, although fit-again Amadou Onana is likely to replace Lamare Bogarde at the base of midfield.

Having come off the bench during the last two matches, Donyell Malen could start in claret and blue for the very first time, while Robin Olsen will be hoping for a rare start in goal, as he enjoyed in round three.

Aston Villa predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-2-2-2): Olsen; García, Konsa, Kamara, Maatsen; Onana, Tielemans, Asensio, Rogers; Rashford, Malen.

Aston Villa Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Marcus Rashford will be hoping to make his Aston Villa debut, a weird parallel universe we're now living in. He has nine FA Cup goals to his name, as well as two winners' medals, while he's previously netted on six occasions against Spurs, only scoring against Man City and Liverpool more frequently.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

The visitors are still without Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, James Maddison, Wilson Odobert, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke, while Radu Drăgușin will be lucky to feature again in 2025, having ruptured his ACL against Elfsborg.

In that same Europa League match ten days ago, Micky van de Ven made his long-awaited return, getting 45 minutes into his legs, but has not been seen since, and there's little information available as to why.

Thus, reinforcements were needed and they belated arrived, with Kevin Danso thrown straight in for his debut at Anfield, while fellow new signing Mathys Tel was introduced shortly before half time against Liverpool, after Richarlison hobbled down the tunnel, joining the ever-increasing number of absentees.

Sergio Reguilón and Mikey Moore both started as Spurs required extra time to overcome Tamworth in round three, but surely Ange Postecoglou will go full strength for this one, not that he has many options from which to choose.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Aston Villa: (4-3-3): Kinský; Porro, Danso, Gray, Spence; Bentancur, Bissouma, Bergvall; Kuluševski, Son Heung-min, Tel.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Aston Villa

Son Heung-min has ten goals to his name this season, while he has previously netted seven times against Aston Villa, six of which have come at Villa Park, so can he fire Spurs through to round five?

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction

We are very confidently forecasting an Aston Villa victory from this tie. Unai Emery's team have had a over a week to prepare, while Spurs endured an energy-sapping, confidence-shattering defeat as recently as Thursday, so we can't see beyond a home win:Â Aston Villa 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have won five of their last six home games against Leicester, scoring 20 goals across these victory. In fact, the last 28 meetings between these two sides have produced a whopping 115 goals, that's a goal scored every 22 minutes on average, with similar forecasting on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City Preview

Given that both are in horrendous form right now, this is a crucial clash for both in the capital. Tottenham Hotspur were beaten yet again last Sunday, finding themselves 3-0 down at Goodison by half time, despite facing an Everton side who rarely even score once, with late goals from Dejan Kuluševski and then Richarlison scant consolation for the furious Spurs supporters housed in the Bullens Road stand. This means the Lilywhites have collected just a solitary point from their last six Premier League games, their sole victory in ten outings coming at rock-bottom Southampton, meaning they're now closer to the bottom three than the potential European spots.

Some of the mounting pressure on Ange Postecoglou's shoulders was alleviated on Thursday night as Tottenham battled to a 3-2 Europa League victory over Hoffenheim; James Maddison breaking the deadlock inside 200 seconds at Rhein-Neckar-Arena, before Son Heung-min bagged a brace, with Spurs withstanding late pressure to hold on for victory. This propelled Spurs up to sixth in the Europa League, knowing victory over Elfsborg this week will rubber stamp their spot in the round of 16. Before then, Tottenham need to start climbing the Premier League table, and this feels must win.

That's because Leicester City arrive in North London following seven successive Premier League defeats, on the cusp of the club-record which is eight, set in 2001, albeit that sequence did come to an end courtesy of a 4-2 victory over Spurs at Filbert Street. Ruud van Nistelrooy will be praying for a repeat of that, given the desperate situation over which he currently presides, with the atmosphere at the King Power pretty toxic following last weekend's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Fulham. The Foxes have now conceded at least twice in 11 of their last 12 matches, including each of the last eight suffering five successive defeats on the road too. Next weekend's visit to Everton looks pivotal but, before then, can Leicester leap out of the drop zone by claiming a shock victory over Spurs?

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Having been in action in Germany on Thursday, it's a tight turnaround for depleted Tottenham, who are without Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Yves Bissouma, Timo Werner, Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke, while Pape Matar Sarr and Djed Spence are both doubts. In goal, Antonín Kinský can return, he's not yet eligible to feature in the Europa League, while the same is true of Sergio Reguilón, albeit he's only likely to be on the bench. Elsewhere, fit again Ben Davies and Richarlison are set to start once more while, fair to say the back three Ange Postecoglou deployed at Everton did not work, so that experiment will be shelved. Lastly, Yang Min-hyeok will be hoping to make his debut off the bench.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Leicester City: (4-2-3-1): Kinský; Porro, Gray, Drăgușin, Davies; Bentancur, Bergvall, Kuluševski, Maddison, Son Heung-min; Richarlison.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Leicester City

James Maddison made over 200 appearances for Leicester, winning the FA Cup, but will he score against the Foxes for the very first time?

Leicester City Team News

Jakub Stolarczyk will continue to deputise in the absence of Mads Hermansen in goal, while Ricardo Pereira, Wilfried Ndidi and Abdul Fatawu are all sidelined long-term. At the back, Ruud van Nistelrooy is still searching for a winning combination, deploying Jannik Vestergaard alongside Wout Faes against Fulham, but either Caleb Okoli or Conor Coady or perhaps both could come in here. In attack too, he continues to go for Jordan Ayew, but Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Facundo Buonanotte are amongst those who may feel annoyed to be left out. Lastly, it'll be a special afternoon for Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp, who both joined Spurs at the age of six, set to face their boyhood club on Sunday.

Leicester City predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-5-1): Stolarczyk; Justin, Vestergaard, Coady, Kristiansen; Winks, Soumaré, J Ayew, El Khannouss, Mavididi; Vardy.

Leicester City Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Jamie Vardy has seven goals to his name this season, while he's previously netted on nine occasions against Spurs, only scoring against Arsenal, Watford and Liverpool more frequently, most-recently bagging the equaliser as the pair drew 1-1 on the opening weekend of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City Prediction

As alluded to at the top, this game guarantees goals, but we are expecting Spurs to come out on top, with their extra quality seeing them to victory:Â Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 Leicester City.

Tottenham are unbeaten in eight meetings with Everton, albeit they're without a win in six visits to Goodison, with each of their last five Premier League encounters on Merseyside producing draws.

Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Can either side address their ongoing miserable form? For Everton, Wednesday night saw the start of the second David Moyes-era, but this did not signal a change in fortunes, with the Toffees beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa at home. As a result, the Blues have now failed to score in nine of their last 11 Premier League matches, winning just once during this period, hence why they're currently a mere a point clear of the relegation zone. So, can Everton avoid a fourth successive defeat on Sunday?

Tottenham Hotspur though were also beaten on Wednesday, their defeat extremely painful considering it came in a North London derby. Son Heung-min's deflected shot had given the visitors the lead, only for Arsenal to score twice in quick-succession just before half time, the equaliser ricocheting in via Dominic Solanke. As a result, Ange Postecoglou's side are now winless in five Premier League matches, claiming just one victory from their last nine, this coming against bottom of the table Southampton.

Thus, while Spurs supporters are dreaming of silverware, their league form simply has to improve too, considering they are 14th, closer to the relegation zone than the potential European positions. Tottenham have won only three of their last 18 visits to Goodison so, set to take to the field at this famous old ground for the final time, can they collect a vital three points?

Everton Team News

Séamus Coleman, Tim Iroegbunam, James Garner, Dwight McNeil, Youssef Chermiti and Armando Broja are sidelined, so David Moyes picked a very Sean Dyche-esque lineup in mid-week, due to the limited options at his disposal. Jack Harrison got the nod over Jesper Lindstrøm out-wide, while right-back Nathan Patterson is the only other player potentially pushing to get into the XI.

Everton predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-5-1): Pickford; Young, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gana Gueye, Mangala, Doucouré, Harrison, Ndiaye; Calvert-Lewin.

Everton Players to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has just two goals to his name this season, but he did score during both of Everton's last two victories over Spurs, the most-recent of which was a 5-4 thriller in the FA Cup during lockdown; Carlo Ancelotti and José Mourinho the two managers that night, how times have changed.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Ange Postecoglou still cannot call upon the services of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert or Timo Werner, while Rodrigo Bentancur is still sidelined following the concusion he suffered against Liverpool. A goal down at Arsenal in mid-week, both Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr was hooked at half time, replaced by James Maddison and Brennan Johnson as Postecoglou went gung-ho, although this didn't really change the trajectory of the match. Teenager Yang Min-hyeok is still awaiting his debut having arrived from Gangwon FC, while former Everton man Richarlison came on for his first appearance since 3 November in the North London derby, following a hamstring injury; he scored twice in this fixture at Goodison last season.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Everton: (4-3-3): Kinský; Porro, Gray, Drăgușin, Spence; Bissouma, Matar Sarr, Bergvall: Kuluševski, Son Heung-min, Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Everton

Dejan Kuluševski has eight goals and eight assists to his name this season, one of the latter coming when Tottenham demolished Everton 4-0 in North London in August, so the Swede will once again be key, if Spurs are to depart Merseyside with all three points.

Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction

Everton are the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League this season, while Spurs have the joint-best defence of any side away from home, shipping just 11 goals in ten matches. Given those facts, this is unlikely to be high-scoring, and we're forecasting a draw that'll satisfy nobody:Â Everton 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal are unbeaten in five meetings with their North London neighbours, winning four of them, seeking a third successive league victory over Spurs, something they most-recently achieved in 1989. At Emirates Stadium, the Gunners have won nine of the last 15 derbies, with Tottenham winning only one of their last 30 league visits to their fiercest rivals.

Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

The feel-bad factor around Arsenal continues, so how they need a victory from this North London derby to reunite the fan base and life morale. On Sunday, the Gunners were dumped out of the FA Cup by Manchester United, beaten on penalties at home, a defeat compounded by the fact that they were up against ten-men for over an hour, including extra time, with Martin Ødegaard seeing a penalty saved in normal time, while Kai Havertz was the only man to miss in the subsequent shootout.

Mikel Arteta's team have, more or less, seen their hopes of winning both domestic cups come to an end in the space of just five days, defeated 2-0 by Newcastle at home in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals last Tuesday, leaving them all but out of that competition too. Prior to that, Arsenal had actually been unbeaten in 13 matches dating back to 6 November, but currently sit six points adrift league-leaders Liverpool, meaning it just feels as though this season is slipping away already. Thus, with Aston Villa also visiting on Saturday, the Gunners need to rediscover their mojo and quickly, if they're to avoid falling further behind in the title race.

Given all of that, Tottenham Hotspur supporters might come into this derby with belief their side can claim a famous victory. A week ago, Spurs upset the odds by beating Liverpool in the first leg of their own EFL Cup semi-final, Lucas Bergvall the late match-winner, meaning their fans are dreaming of a Wembley date, unlike their neighbours. Then, rather embarrassingly, Ange Postecoglou's team were held to a goalless draw by fifth-tier Tamworth in the FA Cup at the weekend but, with replays a thing of the past, the Lilywhites cruised through after extra time; an own goal opening the floodgates, before Dejan Kuluševski and Brennan Johnson struck at the Lamb Ground. Despite this cup progression, Tottenham really need to improve their league form, currently down in 12th, their sole win in their last eight league matches coming at rock-bottom Southampton. So now, will Spurs' season spark into life by virtue of a victory over their nearest and fiercest rivals?

Arsenal Team News

The Gunners are very short of attacking options; Bukayo Saka is obviously out long-term and teenager Ethan Nwaneri is also currently sidelined, while Gabriel Jesus was stretchered off with a serious-looking knee injury on Sunday, in a further massive blow. Right-back Jurriën Timber also hobbled off against Man United so, with neither Benjamin White nor Takehiro Tomiyasu available, and Riccardo Calafiori a doubt, Thomas Partey could be forced to fill-in there.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-3-3): Raya; Partey, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Rice, Merino, Ødegaard; Martinelli, Trossard, Havertz.

Arsenal Players to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Fair to say, Kai Havertz is enduring a rather miserable time at the moment, returning up front against Newcastle following illness, before missing gilt-edged chances both on Tuesday and at the weekend; now would be a good time for him to win back the fanbase!

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Spurs are still without Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert, but new goalkeeper Antonín Kinský has become an instantaneous hero, keeping clean sheets against both Liverpool and Tamworth, having only just arrived from Slavia Prague. Compared to the team that started on Sunday, Djed Spence will displace the lesser-spotted Sergio Reguilón at full-back, while the usual front three Son Heung-min, Dejan Kuluševski and Dominic Solanke will also return. Lucas Bergvall's match-winning performance in the EFL Cup last mid-week is likely to earn him a start, potentially chosen over James Maddison.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-3-3): Kinský; Porro, Gray, Drăgușin, Spence; Bissouma, Matar Sarr, Bergvall: Kuluševski, Son Heung-min, Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Arsenal

Son Heung-min has eight North London derby goals to his name, only Emmanuel Adebayor and Harry Kane have more, so can the South Korean strike against Arsenal again?

Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction

This clash guarantees goals, but we're sitting on the fence and forecasting a score draw that will satisfy neither set of supporters on Wednesday:Â Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool smashed Tottenham 6-3 a mere 17 days ago, meaning they've won 11 of the last 14 encounters between the duo, with Spurs recording just one victory over the Reds in eight years; both teams have scored during each of their last nine meetings, fixtures that have produced a whopping 41 goals, meaning a goal is scored every 20 minutes on average.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool Preview

Will holders and record ten-times EFL Cup winners Liverpool reach the final of this competition for the 15th time? To reach the last four, the Reds have so far seen off West Ham at home and then both Brighton and Southampton by the South Coast, scoring ten goals across these victories, with Cody Gakpo responsible for four of them. Meantime, Arne Slot's side remain six points clear at the top of the Premier League, despite drawing three of their last six league fixtures, most-recently held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by fierce rivals Man United on Sunday, despite quick-fire goals from Gakpo and then Mohamed Salah at a snowy Anfield. Thus, Slot is aiming to end to end his first season on Merseyside hoisting multiple trophies aloft, with Liverpool firm favourites to get through this tie and reach the final at Wembley on 16 March, seeking to leave North London in the catbird seat.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, it's now 17 years since they last captured major silverware, coming in the League Cup back in 2008, and what their supporters crave above all else is a trophy. Spurs very nearly fell at the first hurdle in this season's Carabao Cup, scoring twice in the final two minutes to sneak past Coventry, before seeing off both Manchester clubs subsequently, seeing off City 2-1 and then United 4-3 last month, the latter a truly bonkers night's entertainment.

However, in less good news, Ange Postecoglou's side are all the way down in 12th in the Premier League, their sole win in eight attempts since the start of December coming at rock-bottom Southampton, most-recently defeated 2-1 by Newcastle on Saturday. Given that they've now lost half of their league matches, the three cup competitions take on extra significance for Spurs, traveling to fifth-tier Tamworth in the FA Cup on Sunday, but unlike that trip to Staffordshire, Tottenham are massive underdogs coming into this tie. With a second leg to come at Anfield in early-February, most feel this first leg is must win for Spurs, if they're to have any realistic chance of reaching Wembley.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool Head-to-Head Record

Matches Played:Â 184.

Tottenham Hotspur Wins: 49. Draws: 44. Liverpool Wins: 91.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Tottenham's treatment room is going to require an extension. Starting in goal, Guglielmo Vicario is still sidelined due to a broken ankle, while Fraser Forster missed Saturday's defeat due to illness, meaning Brandon Austin made his Spurs debut, his first senior appearance for anyone since 8 July 2021. Earlier on Saturday, Spurs announced the signing of Antonín Kinský from Slavia Prague, with the 21-year-old expected to be thrown in at the deep end, donning the gloves here.

Meantime, in defence, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie are all injured, while Radu Drăgușin is a doubt, having been taken off at half time against Newcastle, meaning Sergio Reguilón could start for the club for first time in almost three years. Rodrigo Bentancur will return following a one-match ban, while Tottenham improved when Yves Bissouma, James Maddison and Son Heung-min came off the bench on the hour mark at the weekend, so how many of that trio will start this time? Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison remain out long-term.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Liverpool: (4-2-3-1): Kinský; Porro, Gray, Drăgușin, Spence; Bissouma, Bentancur, Kuluševski, Maddison, Son Heung-min; Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Liverpool

Dejan Kuluševski has seven goals and eight assists to his name this season, on target during the 6-3 mauling at the hands of Liverpool just before Christmas, so if Tottenham harbour any hopes of reaching the final, they'll need their Swede to be on top form.

Liverpool Team News

Unlike his opposite number, Arne Slot has options, so will he continue to rotate, as he has done in previous rounds? Well, considering the Reds welcome fourth-tier Accrington Stanley to Anfield on Saturday, there's little reason for the big guns not to feature. Joe Gomez is sidelined due to a hamstring injury, making the returns of Ibrahima Konaté and Conor Bradley at the weekend timely, both featuring for the first time since 27 November.

The latter likely to start in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, with Kostas Tsimikas and Jarell Quansah also coming into the defence. Usual cup keeper Caoimhín Kelleher will be donning the gloves, while Dominik Szoboszlai could be back involved, having missed the draw with Man United due to illness. In attack, Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota are highly-likely to start, while Federico Chiesa has seen a mere 123 minutes of action since making the move from Juventus due to injury, so will he add to that in North London?

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Bradley, Quansah, van Dijk, Tsimikas; Endō, Mac Allister, Jones; Elliott, Núñez, Jota.

Liverpool Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Darwin Núñez has only four goals to his name this season but, likely to be handed a rare start, can the Uruguayan cause Spurs' makeshift back-line problems?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool Prediction

As mentioned, this clash guarantees goals, but we're backing Liverpool to leave North London in a commanding position, thereby making the tie at Anfield a near-formality:Â Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Liverpool.

Tottenham confirms the first signing of the January transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur have started the January transfer window with a bold move. The club announced the arrival of a young player who could reshape their future. With injuries and inconsistent performances plaguing the current goalkeeping department, this signing could not have come at a better time. But will this new addition solve Tottenham's problems, or will he struggle under the weight of expectations?

The player in question has already proven himself at the highest level in Europe. His stats rival some of the best goalkeepers in the game. Yet, he is stepping into a team that is desperate for stability and success. Fans are buzzing with excitement, but there is also a sense of uncertainty.

Could this 21-year-old become Tottenham’s next great goalkeeper? Or will he find himself overshadowed by the pressure and competition in the Premier League? Let us dive into the details and find out who this potential star is and how he could transform the club’s fortunes.

Tottenham transfer news - Tottenham Hotspur signs Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague

The latest Tottenham Transfer news is that Tottenham Hotspur have made their first signing of the January transfer window. They have brought in Antonin Kinsky, a 21-year-old goalkeeper from Slavia Prague. This deal, according to football.london worth £12.5m, could shake up the goalkeeping hierarchy at Tottenham. Kinsky has signed a long-term contract that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2031. But is he ready to challenge for the number one spot?

Kinsky has already created excitement among fans. He brings impressive statistics from his time at Slavia Prague. He kept 14 clean sheets in 30 appearances, including 12 shut-outs in just 19 Fortuna Liga matches this season. Only Porto’s Diogo Costa has matched his record for clean sheets in Europe’s top leagues. Kinsky also leads in save percentage and fewest goals conceded per game among goalkeepers with at least ten games this season.

Tottenham’s goalkeeping situation has been far from stable. Guglielmo Vicario, the current first-choice goalkeeper, is sidelined with an ankle injury. Fraser Forster, the experienced backup, stepped in but faced criticism for recent performances. A sickness bug ruled Forster out of the last match against Newcastle. This gave Brandon Austin a chance to debut. Austin delivered a decent performance and even earned the man of the match award. However, his role as a starter will be short-lived.

Tottenham confirms the first signing of the January transfer window

Kinsky’s arrival adds competition for the number one spot. While Vicario remains the first choice for now, his struggles with set-pieces have raised doubts. Kinsky, though slightly shorter at 6ft 3in compared to Vicario’s 6ft 4in, has shown exceptional consistency and composure.

Before Kinsky can play, he needs a work permit and international clearance. If the paperwork is sorted quickly, he could feature in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool. There is also speculation that he might debut in the Premier League during the North London derby against Arsenal.

The question is whether Kinsky can leapfrog Vicario to become Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper. With his youth, talent, and potential, the Czech star might just become the future of Tottenham’s goalkeeping department. For now, fans will have to wait and see if Kinsky lives up to the hype.

Newcastle have won four of their last five meetings with Tottenham, although the Magpies were smashed 4-1 when the pair last clashed in North London; the ten encounters between the duo since the start of 2020 have produced 43 goals, meaning a goal is scored every 21 minutes on average.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United Preview

Will Newcastle United's winning streak continue? On Monday night, the Magpies swatted Manchester United aside at Old Trafford, with Alexander Isak and Joelinton on target in the first 20 minutes and, in truth, the 2-0 scoreline flattered the hosts, given that Newcastle could very easily have run riot in the first half. Nevertheless, this makes it five successive victories for Eddie Howe's team, ousting Brentford from the EFL Cup while also concluding 2024 with four league victories on the spin, scoring 16 times across these five wins.

As a result, the Toon Army have propelled up to fifth, which is expected to be enough to secure Champions League qualification. This is the first of two crucial visits to North London in just four days for Newcastle, also set to face Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final this forthcoming Tuesday. Ahead of that tie, will the traveling Geordies have another victory to celebrate?

In stark contrast to their visitors from the North East, Tottenham Hotspur are in terrible form, not going into their own League Cup semi-final against Liverpool with much belief at all. On Sunday, Spurs were held to a 2-2 draw by Wolves at home, falling behind early but then leading thanks to first half goals from Rodrigo Bentancur and then Brennan Johnson, only to concede three minutes from time.

This means Ange Postecoglou's side won just one of their seven league matches in December, their sole victory of the month coming at rock-bottom Southampton, while they fell behind in 15 seperate Premier League home games throughout 2024, a new calendar year record. The Lilywhites continue to languish in 11th and, following cup ties against Liverpool and Tamworth, their next two league fixtures are away at Arsenal and then Everton, so the pressure will only crank up further if they fail to collect three points here.

Tottenham Hotspur Wins: 74. Draws: 34. Newcastle United Wins: 63.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Having only just returned following a seven-match ban, Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended, after being shown his fifth caution of the campaign last Sunday. Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert, Mikey Moore and Richarlison all remain sidelined long-term while, to compound their defensive injury crisis, Destiny Udogie is now sidelined, having suffered a hamstring injury against Wolves. In some much-needed good news, Djed Spence can return following a one-match ban, while many Spurs supporters want to see teenaged centre-back Alfie Dorrington handed his full-Premier League debut, following a 13-minute cameo at St Mary's. Elsewhere, James Maddison hasn't started either of the last two games, but will he return to the lineup?

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Newcastle United: (4-2-3-1): Forster; Spence, Gray, Drăgușin, Porro; Bissouma, Matar Sarr, Johnson, Kuluševski, Son Heung-min; Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Newcastle United

Dejan Kuluševski has seven goals and eight assists to his name this season, scoring in five successive appearances prior to Christmas, although the Swede is yet to net in five attempts against Newcastle.

Newcastle United Team News

Fabian Schär is suspended, having unnecessarily collected his fifth caution of the campaign on Monday. So, with Jamaal Lascelles and Emil Krafth sidelined and Sven Botman still being eased back to full-fitness, Lloyd Kelly will come in partnering Dan Burn for the very first time. Former Spurs defender Kieran Trippier has started the last two matches at right-back, but most envisage that Tino Livramento will get the nod this time following illness. Those disruptions to the back four aside, Eddie Howe's team is very settled, with the front six set to be unchanged from the rampant victory at Manchester United; Nick Pope and Callum Wilson are long-term absentees.

Newcastle United predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-3-3): Dúbravka; Livramento, Kelly, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimarães, Joelinton; Murphy, Gordon, Isak.

Newcastle United Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Alexander Isak headed home his 13th of the season at Old Trafford, scoring in a sixth successive Premier League fixture, while he's previously netted five times in four meetings with Spurs, including the winner when the pair last met in September.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United Prediction

This clash guarantees goals, but we're backing Newcastle to collect all three points. Spurs' defensive injury crisis continues to be exacerbated every game, while the Magpies are on a roll, appearing unstoppable right now, with Tottenham ill-equipped to halt them:Â Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Newcastle United.

Wolves have actually won each of their last three meetings with Spurs, achieving this for the first time in the 116-year history of this fixture, actually winning four of their last six visits to either Wembley or the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, most-recently prevailing 2-1 in N17 in February.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

Will Wolverhampton Wanderers' remarkably recent form continue? A week ago, Vítor Pereira took charge of Wolves for the very first time and could not have dreamt of a better start, overseeing a 3-0 demolition of Leicester, all the goals coming in a 25-minute first half spree. Then on Boxing Day, the Old Gold were victorious again, this time defeating ten-man Man United 2-0 at Molineux; Matheus Cunha scoring straight from a corner, before the Brazilian turned provider, putting it on a plate for Hwang Hee-chan to rubber stamp victory in stoppage time. Prior to Pereira's appointment, Wolves had lost four on the spin, but these back-to-back victories have seen them leap out of the bottom three, now seeking three successive Premier League wins for the first time in 364 days.

Tottenham Hotspur meantime are in desperate need of victory, kicking off 11th, 13 points worse off than at this stage a year ago. On Boxing Day, Ange Postecoglou's team were beaten once again, this time defeated 1-0 at the City Ground by Nottingham Forest. As a result, Spurs have now lost four of their last five league outings, their sole league victory of December, in six attempts, coming against bottom of the table Southampton.

Yes the Lilywhites' high-scoring games against Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool are what garner all the headlines, but it's low-scoring defeats at the hands of Palace, Ipswich, Bournemouth and now Forest that are really holding this team back. After this, Tottenham's next two league fixtures are against in-form Newcastle and then a North London derby at Arsenal, with the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool in-between. So, should Spurs fail to win this one, a tough-looking start to 2025 will only appear even more daunting.

Matches Played:Â 106.

Tottenham Hotspur Wins: 52. Draws: 21. Wolverhampton Wanderers Wins: 33.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Ange Postecoglou is extremely short of defensive options right now. Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies are all sidelined, Radu Drăgușin is a doubt, having hobbled off on Boxing Day, while Djed Spence's late red card against his former employers means he is suspended. Thus, Pedro Porro will return, while Sergio Reguilón could feature for Tottenham in the Premier League for the first time in 988 days; he's represented three other clubs during the intervening period.

Rodrigo Bentancur's ban is now over, with the Uruguayan starting at the City Ground, but will either Yves Bissouma or James Maddison return to midfield, after both began on the bench on Thursday? In Guglielmo Vicario's continued absence, Fraser Forster will start a tenth successive match, while attackers Mikey Moore, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are also sidelined. Maddison and Bentancur would sit out next Saturday's visit from Newcastle if cautioned.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: (4-2-3-1): Forster; Porro, Gray, Drăgușin, Udogie; Bissouma, Bentancur, Kuluševski, Maddison, Son Heung-min; Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Son Heung-min has seven goals to his name this season, although he's never previously netted in 12 attempts against Wolves, by far the most occasions he's faced a single opponent without scoring- eight outings against Bayer Leverkusen is the next most.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Vítor Pereira has instantaneously discovered a winning formulae at Wolves, making just a solitary change from his first game to his second, with Rayan Aït-Nouri, returning from suspension, reinstated at left-wing-back. Given that they've won both matches, minimal changes are forecast. Yerson Mosquera, Boubacar Traoré, Mario Lemina and Saša Kalajdžić are all injured, while Hwang Hee-chan will be hoping to see some more minutes, having belatedly opened his account for the campaign on Boxing Day. Star striker Matheus Cunha has been charged by the FA due to his behaviour following the defeat to Ipswich, meaning a ban is imminent, although, for now, he's still available. Toti and Aït-Nouri meantime would miss next Monday's clash with Nottingham Forst if cautioned.

Wolverhampton Wanderers predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (3-4-2-1): José Sá; Doherty, Toti, Bueno; Semedo, André, João Gomes, Aït-Nouri; Guedes, Strand Larsen, Cunha.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

We've already mentioned him, but Matheus Cunha is Wolves' star man, scoring his tenth of the season against Man United so, assuming he's available, can he add to his tally?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Prediction

We are backing Spurs for victory in this one, even if Wolves will more than fancy their chances. Given that the last eight matches played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have produced 40 goals, with both teams scoring in all eight, an entertaining affair is guaranteed:Â Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Description

The last eight meetings between these two clubs have produced 32 goals, an average of four per game, with both teams scoring in all of them, so expect another goal-fest in North London.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool Preview

These two clubs will need to get well acquainted, set to meet in the EFL Cup semi-finals, the first leg of which is coming up in just 17 days time, which is good news for all neutrals, considering these two often serve up thrillers. Liverpool travel to North London seeking a victory that would make sure they are top of the Premier League at Christmas for the seventh time.

Last Sunday, despite seeing Andy Robertson sent off inside 17 minutes, the Reds fought back twice to earn a point with Fulham at Anfield, thanks to equalisers from both Cody Gakpo and then Diogo Jota in front of the Kop. Arne Slot's side have now drawn back-to-back league games, albeit they are unbeaten in 20 matches across all competitions in a single season for the first time since 1996.

For Slot himself, he's won 20 of 24 matches in charge of Liverpool, the joint-fastest any manager in English top-flight history has reached 20 victories, alongside William Sudell of Preston North End in 1888/89- that's 136 years ago! These statistics are true as of Wednesday night, after the Reds dumped Southampton out of the League Cup, thanks to goals by Darwin Núñez and then Harvey Elliott soon after. Thus, the 3,000 or so Reds braving a trip to the capital just before Christmas will do so expecting another victory.

Tottenham Hotspur though are like a festive box of chocolates; you never know what you're going to get. On Thursday night, Spurs kept alive their hopes of Carabao Cup success by dumping out Manchester United in a seven-goal thriller. The Lilywhites were 3-0 up with less than 55 minutes on the clock, thanks to Dominic Solanke's brace, while Dejan Kuluševski scored in-between.

However, not one but two pieces of catastrophic footwork from Fraser Forster, a mere seven minutes apart, presented Man United with a route back into it, only for Son Heung-min to score an Olimpico direct from a corner and, despite a late goal back for the visitors, Spurs held on for victory. It's been a vital week for Ange Postecoglou, considering his side smashed Southampton 5-0 last Sunday, all the goals coming in the first half, a result that ended Tottenham's five-match winless streak, although they do remain tenth, a humungous 13 points worse off than their visitors.

Last season, Spurs infamously beat Liverpool 2-1 at home, Luis Díaz incorrectly having a goal ruled out by VAR, "good process lads" and all that, before the Reds were reduced to nine-men, with Joël Matip's 96th minute own goal seeing the hosts snatch victory. So now, can Tottenham claim back-to-back home wins over Liverpool for the first time since 2012, or will Slot's side extend their unbeaten streak?

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies are sidelined, but Ange Postecoglou is optimistic that Destiny Udogie could return at left-back, having hobbled off at St Mary's a week ago. In his place, Djed Spence deputised against Man United, while Sergio Reguilón came off the bench very late on, his first outing in a Spurs shirt for 978 days, representing three other clubs, Atlético Madrid, Man United and Brentford, during this timeframe. Elsewhere, this is the last of Rodrigo Bentancur's seven-match ban, while Richarlison, Wilson Odobert and Mikey Moore all remain injured. Brennan Johnson, who couldn't stop scoring earlier this season, is set to once again begin on the bench, while Timo Werner could return to the matchday squad, having missed out on Thursday due to a fever.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Liverpool: (4-2-3-1): Forster; Porro, Gray, Drăgușin, Udogie; Bissouma, Matar Sarr, Kuluševski, Maddison, Son Heung-min; Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Liverpool

Dejan Kuluševski scored his sixth of the season in mid-week, on target in a fourth successive appearance, so can the Swede net against Liverpool for the very first time?

Liverpool Team News

Andy Robertson's red card last weekend means he is suspended, which makes Kostas Tsimikas' return from injury timely, coming off the bench at half time on Wednesday for his first appearance since 5 November. Elsewhere, Ibrahima Konaté and Conor Bradley are sidelined, but Harvey Elliott started for the first time this season in mid-week, marking the occasion with a goal. Alexis Mac Allister also started against Southampton, having been banned for the last two matches, set to keep his place in midfield, but will it be Dominik Szoboszlai who misses out? Fit-again Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota also featured by the South Coast, but they alongside mid-week scorer Darwin Núñez will be on the bench, with the big-guns, who didn't even travel to St Mary's, all back in. Ryan Gravenberch and Núñez will sit out Leicester's visit to Anfield on Boxing Day if booked.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Jones; Salah, Luis Díaz, Gakpo.

Liverpool Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Mohamed Salah already has 16 goals to his name this season so, following a week off, the Egyptian will be aiming to add to his 12 career strikes against Spurs, only finding a Man United net with more frequency.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool Prediction

This clash guarantees goals for certain, but were almost as confident that it'll produce a Liverpool victory too. The Reds are on a roll right now, able to rotate almost the entire team in mid-week, a luxury not afforded to injury-plagued Spurs, meaning it would be a massive upset if Tottenham were able to derail Liverpool's title aspirations in that final fixture before Christmas:Â Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Liverpool.

Tottenham are unbeaten in four meetings with Manchester United, their longest streak for a decade, including a thumping 3-0 victory at Old Trafford in September. However, the Red Devils have won the last two League Cup clashes between the duo, including prevailing on penalties in the 2009 final.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Preview

The tie of the round in the Carabao Cup has been saved for last, but who will be celebrating a semi-final spot on Thursday night in North London? Earlier this season, Ange Postecoglou declared that he always wins a trophy in his second season, a fact Spurs supporters are desperate to remain true because, by the time the final comes round, it'll be in excess of 17 years since their club captured silverware. So far in this competition, the Lilywhites have left it late to beat Coventry, scoring twice at the death, before battling to a 2-1 victory over Man City in October, with goals from Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr seemingly starting the Sky Blues' death spiral.

In more recent times, Tottenham had been winless in five, before ending that sequence in some style on Sunday night, smashing Southampton 5-0 at St Mary's, all the goals coming in the first half, including James Maddison breaking the deadlock inside 44 seconds. Despite this victory, Spurs remain tenth in the Premier League table, ahead of Sunday's heavyweight clash with leaders Liverpool, meaning cup competitions are what's keeping the spark alive for Postecoglou's team, making victory in this tie so crucial.

Manchester United meantime, backed by 5,800 supporters, will be brimming with confidence, following derby day victory in the most dramatic circumstances on Sunday. Despite being a goal down with just two minutes to play, the Red Devils, somehow, turned it around to beat Man City at the Etihad, with Bruno Fernandes equalising from the penalty spot before, 115 seconds later, Amad spectacularly snatched victory.

Rúben Amorim's team had lost back-to-back league outings beforehand, meaning Man United are actually a point below their hosts, down in 13th, so like Spurs are targeting glory in the cup competitions to salvage this season. This will be Man United's third EFL Cup tie of the campaign, led by three different managers, smashing Barnsley 7-0 under Erik ten Hag, before Ruud van Nistelrooy oversaw the demolition of his future employers Leicester, ending 5-2. So, will Amorim enjoy another statement victory on the road, or can Spurs make home advantage count?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Head-to-Head Record

Matches Played:Â 202.

Tottenham Hotspur Wins: 55. Draws: 51. Manchester United Wins: 96.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Ange Postecoglou is still without Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Richarlsion, while Rodrigo Bentancur remains suspended, after his seven-game suspension was upheld following appeal. In better news, Yves Bissouma can returned following a one-match ban, while Djed Spence made his full-Premier League debut on Sunday night, doing so 881 days after signing. He may be needed again, after Destiny Udogie hobbled off during the first half at Southampton, this time filling in at left-back, with Sergio Reguilón in the proverbial wilderness. Lastly, James Maddison's brace by the South Coast could see him keep his place, chosen over Brennan Johnson.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Manchester United: (4-2-3-1): Forster; Porro, Gray, Drăgușin, Spence; Matar Sarr, Bissouma, Kuluševski, Maddison, Son Heung-min; Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur Players to Watch vs Manchester United

Dejan Kuluševski has been on target during each of Spurs' last three matches, taking his tally to five goals for the campaign, one of which came during the demolition at Old Trafford, so will the Swede's scoring spree continue?

Manchester United Team News

The headline team news at the weekend was that both Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford were left out of the squad for the Manchester derby, so it'll be interesting to see if either are brought back into the fold. Rúben Amorim continues to make wholesale changes on a game-by-game basis, with Kobbie Mainoo likely to come into midfield, after Mason Mount hobbled off just 14 minutes into Sunday's victory. Leny Yoro could also start for just the second time in defence while, in goal, Altay Bayındır has started both EFL Cup ties so far, but André Onana is expected to be between the sticks.

Manchester United predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-3-3): Onana; Yoro, de Ligt, Martínez; Dalot, Ugarte, Mainoo, Mazraoui; Fernandes, Amad, Højlund.

Manchester United Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Bruno Fernandes slotted home his sixth of the season from 12 yards on Sunday, while the midfielder has previously netted three times against Spurs, two of which have come from the penalty spot.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Prediction

This tie is so tough to call, but we're backing Manchester United to leave North London victorious. The Red Devils boast significantly greater squad depth right now, which could make a massive difference, so buoyed by their comeback victory at the weekend, we're forecasting that Man United will sneak through to the last four:Â Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Manchester United.
