Tottenham Hotspur are pushing recruitment chiefs to sign a forward, as manager Ange Postecoglou reportedly makes a decision on the out-of-form Timo Werner.

Werner criticised for lacklustre start to the Spurs season

Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy and technical director Johan Lange moved to secure an extension on Werner's loan deal in the summer, which includes a more generous option to buy the forward permanently for around £8.5 million.

However, Postecoglou and co have not exactly been rewarded for their show of faith in the £165,000-per-week attacker, who is one of the highest earners at N17.

Werner has misfired on many occasions so far this season, with the former Chelsea star criticised for his lack of cutting edge in the final third, spurning many gaping opportunities.

Werner's end product has been called "poor" so far, and the 28-year-old is yet to score a single goal in all competitions. Postecoglou has publicly defended the ex-RB Leipzig star, who once scored 34 goals and bagged 13 assists in all competitions for the Bundesliga side back in 2019/2020, with the Australian admitting that Werner's confidence is low right now.

"He is definitely down in confidence you can see that," said Postecoglou on Werner's form after Spurs beat AZ Alkmaar 1-0 in the Europa League.

"It is a difficult thing to get out of sometimes. It can feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. All we can do is try to support him and keep trying to get him to a place where he feels a little bit more confident with certain things.

"He has played a great ball in for Mikey to score early and if that goes in, that’s an assist for him it gives him a lift but it doesn’t happen. It happened at Ferencvaros as well, he played a great cross that Will Lankshear just missed but these things happen. He needs to find a way out of it because for us in those positions we need players to make an impact. I thought in a couple of moments he lacked some self-belief that we need to try to instil in him somehow."

Reports have even claimed that Tottenham are targeting a new winger ahead of January, and now GiveMeSport have shared an update on Werner's situation in north London.

Tottenham push recruitment chiefs to sign forward with Werner likely to go

According to their information, Tottenham are pushing their recruitment department to identify a new winger who they could sign to replace Werner, resulting in the forward being "on track" to leave at the end of this season.

Postecoglou has apparently decided to "set his sights" on signing a fresh attacking option, with the tactician personally in search of more firepower and Werner "set to return" to Leipzig next summer.

There is still time for Werner to change the minds of Postecoglou and Spurs officials, and it is clear by the former's past statements that he does rate Werner as a player.

“He’s a quality player," said Postecoglou on Werner's overall ability earlier this year.

"I think he’s proven at this level, and as he gets stronger and fitter and understands our game a little bit better, I think he’ll become even more effective and I know there’s goals in him as well that will come for Tottenham.”

Spurs wasted £36m on Jose flop who earned more than Johnson & Van de Ven

Tottenham Hotspur have made more than their fair share of poor transfers over the last decade or so.

For example, before he was fired, Mauricio Pochettino spent a considerable sum of money on Tanguy Ndombele, Antonio Conte was guilty of spending £60m on Richarlison, Nuno Espírito Santo signed Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal, and even the great José Mourinho was guilty of a few howlers.

In fact, one of the special one's worst signings wasn't just signed for a considerable fee but was also handed a hefty wage that saw him earn more than Brennan Johnson and Micky van de Ven earn today.

Johnson and Van de Ven's salaries in 2024

On deadline day last summer, Spurs agreed to pay Nottingham Forest around £47.5m for Johnson, and while there have been some poor performances from the Welshman, it would be fair to say he's currently more than justifying his fee and £70k-per-week wage.

For example, he ended his debut campaign with a respectable haul of five goals and ten assists in just 34 appearances, and while he started this season in underwhelming form, he has quickly racked up a tally of six goals in just 13 games, which also makes him the club's top goalscorer.

Likewise, while Van de Ven wasn't necessarily a household name when he completed his £43m move to the Lilywhites last summer, he has more than justified his fee and surprisingly low salary of £50k-per-week.

In his first season, the 6 foot 4 Dutchman almost immediately became one of the club's most important players, as his lightning-quick recovery pace and ability to get back and clean up breakaways allowed the team to play a higher line than most.

For example, in the North Londoners' home game against Brentford last season, the 23-year-old broke the Premier League's record for the fastest sprint ever recorded, clocking in at a staggering 37.38km/h - talk about rapid.

Overall, both Van de Ven and Johnson are more than justifying their wages at the moment, which cannot be said for one of Mourinho's worst signings at Spurs.

How much Steven Bergwijn cost Spurs

Yes, the player in question is former Dutch international Steven Bergwijn, who Jose spent £27m on in January 2020.

The rapid winger looked like he'd be a good signing at the time, as in just 149 appearances for PSV Eindhoven, he had scored 31 goals and provided 41 assists, equating to an impressive average of a goal involvement every 2.06 games.

However, that form, unfortunately, did not translate into his time in England, and across the two and a half years he spent with the Lilywhites before being sold to Ajax, he could only produce eight goals and nine assists in 83 appearances, which equates to a goal involvement every 4.88 games.

Worse yet, despite struggling to make an impact, the Amsterdam-born attacker was handed a hefty salary of £75k-per-week - more than Johnson and Van de Ven - meaning that, including his transfer fee, the 27-year-old cost the North Londoners around £36.4m.

In other words, he cost the club around £439k-per-appearance, £4.5m-per-goal, £4m-per-assist, and around £2.1m-per-goal-involvement, which can hardly be described as value for money.

Ultimately, Spurs have had their fair share of flop signings over the years, and while he certainly wasn't the worst, the fact that Bergwijn was paid more than Johnson and Van de Ven will always be an odd one.

After Moore: Ange has the next superstar brewing in Spurs' "pure talent"

It's been a topsy-turvy campaign for Tottenham Hotspur so far this season.

Ange Postecoglou's side have won all of their League Cup and Europa League games but have struggled to find any real consistency in the Premier League.

The North Londoners currently find themselves in eighth place with just 13 points from nine games, and while they looked sensational against West Ham United just over a week ago, they looked bereft of ideas against Crystal Palace yesterday.

However, there was one small positive from the game: Mikey Moore made his first Premier League start, and while he looks set to explode this season, another lesser-known academy gem could do the same next year.

Why fans are excited about Mikey Moore

At this point, if you don't know who Moore is or why people are so excited about him, then you have been living under a rock.

The 17-year-old has long been talked about as one of the most exciting youth players in the country, let alone at Spurs, and his ridiculous record of 19 goals and 13 assists in just 24 games for the U18s should tell you why.

However, as with all young players, there was still an element of doubt over how he might take to senior football, but after his cameo appearances this season, any such doubt can be thrown out the window.

The dynamic winger might not have been tremendously effective against Palace, but in his previous start, against AZ Alkmaar, he was sensational, picking up the Player of the Match award in what was just his second competitive start for the team.

It was entirely deserved, though, as while he looked good in the first half, he exploded in the second when he moved over to the left, constantly taking on the opposition and giving the fans something to cheer about whenever the ball was at his feet.

While it's too early to pile the pressure on him, Moore does look like he's destined to reach the very top, which could also be said about another of the club's promising academy stars.

Why fans should be excited about Lucá Williams-Barnett

Yes, the academy star in question is the tremendously exciting Luca Williams-Barnett, who looks like he, too, could make an impact in the first team in the coming years.

The 16-year-old midfielder, whom U23 scout Antonio Mango described as a "pure talent", made a number of appearances for the Lilywhites' U18s last season that was impressive enough to see him make the jump up permanently this year, and to say he's looked comfortable would be a massive understatement.

For example, in just seven appearances so far this term, the Luton-born gem has scored eight goals and provided three assists, meaning he is currently averaging a goal involvement once every 0.63 games, or in other words, he is producing 1.57 goal involvements per game.

Moreover, while he has scored hat-tricks and braces in his junior career, he is also producing a goal involvement in the vast majority of the games he plays in, and not stat padding against weaker sides in a way that could distort his actual ability.

Now, it's essential not to rush youngsters into the senior side too soon nowadays, as the significant jump can be too much for some, but given Moore's introduction to the first team this season and the way Postecoglou has eased him in, we wouldn't be surprised to see the same happen with Williams-Barnett when he turns 17 next October.

After all, he's showing such incredible promise every week for the U18s, so it feels more like a matter of when and not if he gets his chance with the first team.

AC Milan obsessed with Spurs star and ready to splash out £42m to sign him

A European giant have been keeping a close eye on a Tottenham Hotspur star who they are obsessed with, and are ready to make a substantial offer to sign him in January or next summer, according to one report.

Tottenham stars in demand

Ange Postecoglou's side fell to a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, their fourth loss of the Premier League season, on Sunday. It means that they have suffered as many defeats as they have wins, leaving them eighth in the Premier League as it stands and looking like longshots to finish in the top four, a spot that would guarantee Champions League football in north London next season.

Despite this, Tottenham's stars are in demand across Europe. Cristian Romero is thought to be on the radar of Real Madrid as they look to bolster their backline, a defence that suffered a 4-0 humiliation against Barcelona in their most recent home El Clásico.

Their search has also seen them eye up Micky van De Ven, who has impressed since arriving at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium from Wolfsburg and looks ready to play Champions League football.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos have also been credited with an interest in Pedro Porro, alongside former club Manchester City, with Spurs keen to extract a club record fee for a defender to let him leave.

Elsewhere, bit-part trio Radu Dragusin, Archie Gray and Richarlison have all been linked with moves away in what could be a major overhaul at the club, though Gray would only depart on loan after arriving for £35m in the most recent transfer window, while any other departures would need to be replaced in the transfer market.

AC Milan chief "obsessed" with Spurs ace

That comes as reports in Italy have linked Milan with a shock move to sign Tottenham standout star Dejan Kulusevski as early as January.

The Swedish ace has been rejuvenated as a central midfielder this season, having spent much of his career on the right wing. His performances have been impressive alongside James Maddison in the Spurs engine room, and his skillset combined with physical attributes have led to him being described as the "most unique player" in the Premier League by content creator James Allcott.

Now, Juve Live [Via Sport Witness] report that Milan senior advisor and Kulusevski's compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic is "obsessed" with the midfielder, and is keen to lure him to San Siro.

He reportedly sees him as a perfect replacement to Rafael Leao, whose future is "uncertain", and the club are ready to make their move as early as the January transfer window, though that would likely depend on the future of Leao.

It is added that Milan would be willing to pay up to 50m euros (£42m) to sign the Spurs man, a fee that would likely be rejected by Tottenham as far too low given his recent form.

With the Swede under contract at Tottenham until 2028, a sale seems very unlikely unless an offer too good to refuse came in, something that Milan's would not represent. However, should he continue to impress this season in his new role, other clubs may well join the hunt for the Spurs man.

The massive transfer fee Spurs will demand from Real Madrid for Pedro Porro

Tottenham are set to demand a massive fee should clubs want to take one of their star men out of north London any time soon, according to a fresh report.

Tottenham's strong run ended by Crystal Palace

A 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace ended Tottenham's impressive recent run of form under Ange Postecoglou and brought the Lilywhites firmly back down to earth. Jean-Philippe Mateta scored what proved the decisive goal fifteen minutes before half time to hand Crystal Palace a first win of the season, and leaving Tottenham ruing missed opportunities.

It was their fourth loss of the season in the Premier League, the same number of wins they have achieved, and leaves them five points outside the top four spots as things stand back in eighth place.

"It was a game which turned into, and it didn’t surprise me, a bit of a battle. Lots of stop, starting and standing around. We didn’t deal with that really well at all. We didn’t get to grips with just the nature of what was transpiring out there. It turned into a bit of a battle. They dealt with it better than we did", Postecoglou explained after the game.

"I just felt when we had control of things, we could have dealt with it better. We ended up doing silly things, giving away silly fouls and losing our composure, which just adds to that sort of game when you can't get any traction. So I think we directed our frustration in the wrong way rather than dealing with like we should have", he added.

Despite the defeat, it has been a bright start to the season for some in Tottenham colours, and that has attracted unwanted attention.

Tottenham slap hefty price tag on defender

Now, it has emerged that Spurs are ready to put off potential suitors for defender Pedro Porro by demanding a record fee to let him leave. The Spaniard has reportedly caught the eye of both Real Madrid and former club Manchester City as the two European giants look to make changes at right-back.

He has impressed in Tottenham colours, and Ange Postecoglou hailed him "outstanding" at the end of his first season in charge in north London.

And Spurs are now ready to ward off suitors with a hefty price tag. That is according to reports in Spain, who claim that Spurs will not entertain offers of less than £60m to part ways with the defender, who still has three and a half years left to run on his £85,000 a week deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Should any club match that, it would be a record sale for a defender leaving north London, with the current record standing at the £45m they received to sell Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

Could Manchester City repeat the trick to try and land Walker's replacement or will Real Madrid stump up the cash? Spurs fans will certainly hope not.

Tottenham willing to make possible bid for new £12.5m player from Arsenal

Tottenham are believed to be weighing up the idea of making an offer for a £12.5m player from Premier League rivals Arsenal, according to a fresh transfer rumour.

Tottenham transfer news

Spurs continue to be linked with possible new signings to bolster Ange Postecoglou's squad, with Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney emerging as a reported target. A January move for the 22-year-old has been mooted, with Newcastle United also thought to be showing an interest in him.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap is also reportedly wanted by the north Londoners, who are even said to be in pole position to acquire his signature. The 21-year-old has impressed for the Tractor Boys this season, despite their struggles as a team, scoring five goals in eight Premier League starts.

Meanwhile, Real Valladolid winger Raul Moro has been mentioned as an option for Spurs, with the 21-year-old a bright young attacking talent, but Manchester City are providing competition, which always acts as a concern.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is another young player of whom big things are expected, and he is another rumoured target for Postecoglou's men, having shone at Borussia Dortmund this season, netting three times in as many Champions League appearances.

Tottenham eyeing £12.5m Arsenal player

According to a report from Spain, Tottenham are among the clubs interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein, in a move that would be controversial, given the rivalry between the two clubs. He is currently on loan at Real Valladolid, moving to Spain during the summer transfer window.

It is stated that Spurs have "entered the market" along with Chelsea in the battle to snap up the 22-year-old, and are willing to possibly make a bid, with the Gunners willing to sell if their asking price of between £12.5m and £16.6m is met.

Whether Arsenal would be willing to sell to Spurs remains to be seen, even if he is a player who they see no future for at the club, but he could be a shrewd addition if they do get their man.

The Gunners stopper is an influential figure at international level, already winning 34 caps for Estonia at the age of just 22, and he has even been praised by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez recently, who said of him: "He has a good build, a very good goalkeeper."

Hein has started all 11 La Liga games for Valladolid this season, winning one Man of the Match award from WhoScored in the process, and he looks like a young goalkeeper with a lot of potential.

Granted, there is a reason why Arsenal don't seem desperate to keep hold of him, but his performances this season have highlighted his ability and Spurs should always be looking to bring in exciting young talent.

Guglielmo Vicario is clearly first-choice between the sticks for Postecoglou currently, but added competition for places can never be a bad thing, and Hein could be viewed as a long-term starter in north London, should he continue to improve in the manner that he is.

It's not Moore: Ange must now drop Maddison & unleash Spurs sensation

Tottenham Hotspur travel to face Crystal Palace this afternoon, looking to inflict yet more pain on Oliver Glasner’s side, whilst continuing their current run of form.

The Eagles are yet to win a Premier League game this season, whilst Ange Postecoglou’s men have won two in a row in all competitions since the return to club football after the international break.

Spurs registered a 4-1 victory over London rivals last weekend, before a 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night - maintaining their 100% start to the European campaign.

However, Postecoglou will be hoping to pick up another three points in the league this afternoon to keep up their hopes of securing a Champions League spot come the end of May.

If Spurs are to gain another three valuable points this afternoon, he may have to drop one first-team star to allow another to thrive at Selhurst Park.

Why James Maddison should be dropped against Palace

Midfielder James Maddison may have registered an assist in the Europa League victory in midweek, but he could find himself on the substitutes bench for this afternoon’s clash with Palace.

The Englishman was replaced at the interval by Postecoglou against West Ham last weekend, which led to Spurs managing to score three goals inside 15 minutes and secure a needed three points.

Dejan Kulusevski has operated in a more central role alongside Yves Bissouma and Maddison in recent weeks, but given Glasner’s 3-4-3 system, the Aussie could opt for a more compact and defensive trio this afternoon - with the 27-year-old possibly the man to miss out.

Undoubtedly, it would be a harsh decision for the former Leicester man to miss out from the off, but given the attacking display on show last weekend, it’s clear that they can still create endless opportunities in the final third.

One player is more than deserving of a recall, with his box-to-box qualities allowing for a perfect balance for Postecoglou in the middle of the park.

The man who could replace Maddison against Palace

Mikey Moore produced another stellar display for the club's first team in the Europa League in midweek, starting the match and showcasing his ball-carrying skills with his mazy run.

However, despite his performance, it's unlikely that he will be handed a first league start, with Timo Werner the likely choice to replace Heung-min Son should he fail to make the meeting at Selhurst.

Pape Matar Sarr was the man who replaced Maddison for the second half against the Hammers last weekend, enjoying a superb display and having an impact at both ends of the pitch.

The 22-year-old completed 100% of the passes he attempted, creating one big chance as a result of his impressive passing range.

The Senegalese talent grabbed the assist for Son’s strike, having the same offensive output as Maddison despite featuring as a deeper option than the Englishman.

Sarr, who’s previously been dubbed “frightening” by talent scout Antonio Mango, also impressed defensively last weekend, winning four duels, making five defensive actions whilst winning both of his attempted tackles.

He’s progressed leaps and bounds since the appointment of Postecoglou, with the Aussie putting his trust in the youngster to flourish in the first-team and help the club achieve their goal of a top-four finish.

His display against Lopetegui’s side is evidence of what he can produce when given the opportunity, with his tenacity in all thirds of the pitch giving Postecoglou a potential selection headache - with Maddison the most likely candidate to lose his starting role this afternoon.

Levy let Spurs flop leave for £750k, now he's being compared to £100m star

Tottenham Hotspur have recruited very well over the last couple seasons, giving current boss Ange Postecoglou all of the tools to try and secure Champions League football in North London.

The Aussie registered a fifth-placed finish during his debut campaign in the Premier League, narrowly missing out on a top four spot and subsequently having to settle for a Europa League place instead.

It was undoubtedly a disappointment to miss out after such a promising first year at the helm for the 59-year-old, but it’s given him that foundation to build on for the current campaign.

However, the signings of Dominic Solanke, Lucas Bergvall and Timo Werner have allowed for Spurs to make a 100% start to their European campaign - highlighting the hierarchy’s excellent recruitment in recent times.

It’s certainly a stark contrast from a couple of years ago, with the club investing their funds erratically and failing to get their money’s worth - resulting in a huge financial drain.

Spurs’ transfers during the 2019/20 season

After four successive top-four finishes in the Premier League, there was always a question as to whether Spurs could invest and reach the next level, particularly after their Champions League final defeat in 2019.

Those questions were duly answered with owner Daniel Levy splashing over £100m on new additions during the 2019/20 season to try and take his side to a title battle.

However, big-money transfers such as Ryan Sessegnon, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele, unfortunately, didn’t work out, with the latter costing a then club-record of £63m before departing on a free transfer just a couple of years later.

The Frenchman made just 91 appearances between 2019 and last summer when he departed and joined Ligue 1 side OGC Nice in his homeland as he attempted to rebuild his career.

He wasn’t the only player who arrived in North London with a lot of promise, as Levy forked out another hefty sum on a player - keeping one eye on the youngster for the future.

The player who Levy sold too soon

Winger Jack Clarke arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in an £8.5m deal that summer before rejoining Championship side Leeds United on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

The youngster caught the eye with his direct dribbling skills and ability to beat a man - looking as though the club had managed to grab themselves a bargain, with Clarke having the potential to develop in North London.

However, it would be a move to forget for the attacker, who only made four first-team appearances during his two years as a senior member - subsequently having various loans away from Spurs before departing permanently.

He would join Sunderland for just £750k before add-ons, with the move allowing him to gain valuable first-team minutes, scoring 27 times in 94 appearances for the Black Cats, helping them close in on a return to the Premier League after flirting with the play-offs.

Clarke’s subsequent form in England’s second tier saw newly promoted Ipswich Town make a move for him, finally allowing him to be a top-flight player, drawing some comparisons to some elite talents in the process.

The 23-year-old was compared to Manchester City's £100m signing Jack Grealish by former Arsenal ace Alan Smith during a recent meeting with Aston Villa and when delving into their respective stats from the current campaign, it’s not a far-fetched comparison at all.

The Tractor Boys winger has registered the same number of combined goals and assists as the City attacker, but is averaging the same number of shots per 90 so far this campaign.

He’s also completed more take-one per game and has a higher success rate all whilst featuring for fewer minutes than Grealish since the start of the season.

The £750k fee received for the youngster was far too cheap, but they did receive a sell-on fee upon his move to Ipswich this summer.

However, many people around North London will be wishing that they had kept him given his excellent form and comparisons of late - potentially being a better option than the likes of Werner in Postecoglou’s current side.

Pundit names "exciting" Tottenham gem overshadowed by Moore and Lankshear

Tottenham Hotspur talents Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear have been handed opportunities to impress by Ange Postecoglou this season, but there is another youngster who could be worth keeping an eye on.

Moore and Lankshear called upon by Postecoglou at Tottenham

Moore and Lankshear appear to be grabbing the most headlines in north London right now, with the latter included in two Premier League matchday squads so far this season, whilst also leading the line during Spurs' 2-1 win at Ferencvaros in the Europa League.

It is clear Postecoglou's sees something in the 19-year-old, who's scored 26 goals across 34 appearances in total for Tottenham's Under-21s, and it is likely we'll see more of Lankshear as the season goes on.

Meanwhile, fellow teenager Moore has significantly impressed when given the opportunity. The 17-year-old sensation has made seven senior appearances already this season, starting their Europa League wins over Ferencvaros and AZ Alkmaar, where he put in very impressive displays.

Moore should have an assist to show for his efforts, but Timo Werner failed to convert the Englishman's low cross and fumbled a chance one-on-one with the keeper against Ferencvaros, prior to the most recent international break.

He made brief Premier League cameos against Brentford, Man United and Brighton as well - appearing in each of their last four matchday squads. Moore has been praised at Tottenham for grabbing his chances with both hands, and many believe he could Spurs' next rising star.

Moore is in contention to start at Crystal Palace on Sunday, with Postecoglou praising Moore as a "very mature" forward considering his age.

“I think Mikey just wants to be Mikey and like I said after the game, what I see with him is that he’s very mature for a 17-year-old," said Postecoglou on Moore.

"He handles things really well. Sometimes young players are exciting but you can see pitfalls down the road, but I don’t see that with him. At 17, you think what is he going to be like at 21 and hopefully I am the manager then!”

Praise for Dane Scarlett at Tottenham

Alongside Moore and Lankshear, pundit John Wenham believes that another young forward worth monitoring at Tottenham is Dane Scarlett.

Jose Mourinho compared the attacker to Marcus Rashford in 2021, and while the Englishman hasn't become a fixture of the squad yet, he is shining out on loan at Oxford United right now.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham praised Scarlett for his form at Oxford on loan from Tottenham - claiming England absolutely love the "exciting" player.

“England love him, they absolutely love him,” Wenham said. “He was captain of the Under-20s and was then called up to the Under-21s, where he scored straightaway. I’m pleased by his recent form, it is good for his confidence and keeps him going. He scored an amazing header against West Brom, which gave him the confidence to start in the next game and score again.

“I just want him to be out there playing football because he knows where the back of the net is. He continues to prove that every time he plays for England and now Oxford United.”

Ex-Tottenham employee hints Levy could replace Richarlison with £33m star

A former Tottenham Hotspur employee has shared how Daniel Levy could sign an "exceptional" player in 2025, and it would be bad news for striker Richarlison.

Spurs targeting new striker despite Dominic Solanke signing

Over the summer window, Spurs completed a £65 million deal (including add-ons) for Dominic Solanke - a move which ended their year-long wait for Harry Kane's replacement at N17.

The Englishman has bagged three goals and two assists in nine appearances across all competitions so far, briefly picking up an ankle injury earlier this season before returning to the side, yet some reports have suggested that Spurs could move to bring in another number nine.

Tottenham are reportedly in pole position to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, and it is believed by some media sources that Spurs have showed the most interest in Viktor Gyokeres, amid his sensational career at Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.

This is despite the presence of Richarlison, who's endured a difficult start to the season. The Brazilian is yet to get off the mark under Ange Postecoglou this campaign, with an injury keeping him out of action from late August to mid-October.

The 27-year-old made his first appearance since August 24 with a brief nine-minute cameo during Spurs' 4-1 derby win over West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend, and supporters will be hoping to see the very best of him again as soon as possible.

Richarlison enjoyed a real purple patch midway through 2023/2024, scoring nine goals in eight Premier League games from October through to February, but his output has significantly diminished since then.

Richarlison attracted interest from Saudi Arabia in the summer window, but the former Everton star elected to remain in north London to fight for his place under Postecoglou. In an interview with ESPN, he even confirmed that there had been an offer from the Middle East.

“The money is high, but my dream is bigger,” said Richarlison.

“An offer has arrived, but my dream of playing for the Brazilian national team and the Premier League is louder. It’s decided.”

Ex-Tottenham employee suggests Levy could replace Richarlison with Delap

Speaking to Tottenham News, former Spurs scout Bryan King has suggested that Levy could replace Richarlison with Ipswich star Delap in January, otherwise, the Lilywhites may wait until next summer to strike a deal for the "exceptional" former Man City gem.

“Spurs might be interested, but I can’t see that happening till the summer,” King said.

“Unless Richarlison is to leave in January. I’m not a great believer in him. If Spurs have got something lined up in the January window, then they would certainly be looking for another forward.

“Therefore a young one who has scored goals in the Premier League would be a perfect option.”
