Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has said Dominic Solanke's impending exit will be 'a big miss' for the club, as the striker joins Tottenham Hotspur in a club-record deal.

Only earlier in the day had Iraola confirmed talks between the two clubs had taken place, but Mail Sport has confirmed the 26-year-old will be signing for Spurs in a deal worth around £65million, with add-ons.

Solanke was contracted to Vitality Stadium until 2029, but Tottenham have triggered the hefty release clause to bring him north London.

The deal represents a club-record transfer for both clubs.

Speaking to journalists, Iraola said: 'talks have been happening and this is different from the situation you asked me in the week.'

'For us, you know Dom is a very, very important player.'

When asked about his influence on the team, Iraola responded: 'For sure, everyone probably focuses on the goals he scores for us.

'Yes, he scores us a big portion of our goals, but he gives us so much more than that.

I think he's very complete and helps us on all the faces of a game, and will be a big miss – that's obvious, no?'

Spurs have been keen to strengthen their attacking options this summer and Solanke, who played for Liverpool between 2017 and 2019, emerged as a prime target.

The frontman's expensive release clause may have been a blocker for other clubs, but it appears to be a price worth paying, for Spurs' manager, Ange Postecoglou.

And Solanke would be Tottenham's first natural No 9 since Harry Kane departed in a sensational move to Bayern Munich, last summer.

He scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season, which pushed Bournemouth to an impressive 12th-placed finish.

Liverpool hold a 20 per cent sell-on clause after Solanke left to join Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee, and could receive as much as £9million from the £65million clause.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR'S GREATEST EVER PLAYER: Two former England managers starred for Spurs, while Harry Kane, Jim - Daily Mail

A host of England legends have had spells at Tottenham during their career

But who do YOU think is the greatest? Vote via our poll below or send your answers over email to: greatest@dailymail.co.uk

Mail Sport with the help of our readers is on a mission to find the greatest player of all-time at each of the 20 Premier League clubs.

Today it's the turn to look at the legends of Tottenham Hotspur, from the groundbreaking 'push and run' team through Glenn Hoddle to Harry Kane.

And once you've made up your mind who is all the best-ever, it's time to vote...

As the supporters' anthem 'Glory, Glory Tottenham Hotspur' suggests, Spurs have always prided themselves on thrilling players, even though they've not been champions of England since 1961.

Spurs influenced the English game by introducing a push-and-run style that won the league in 1951, forwards often dropping deeper than the norm so they could play shorter passes than the traditional long punt.

Future England manager Alf Ramsey was an important part of the revolutionary system. Despite playing at the back, he was given responsibility for instigating attacks with his range of passing.

That title-winning team also boasted one of the pre-eminent goalkeepers of the era, Ted Ditchburn.

Ditchburn made his debut soon after the War in 1946 and stayed in post until 1958 when he broke a finger against Chelsea. During one spell, he only missed two matches in eight years – including a run of 247 consecutive league matches.

Tottenham became the first team in the 20th Century to win the League and FA Cup Double in a style that even current supporters aspire to.

Captain and brains of the 1961 team was Northern Ireland's Danny Blanchflower, whose motto 'The game is about glory' typified the free-flowing manner in which Spurs played.

Blanchflower elegantly controlled games from midfield and was twice voted Footballer of the Year, one of only eight players to achieve that feat, the latest being Mohamed Salah.

Blanchflower also scored a penalty in the 1962 FA Cup final against Burnley as Spurs retained the trophy. In 1963, he became the first captain with an English club to lift a European trophy after Spurs battered Atletico Madrid 5-1 in the Cup Winners' Cup final.

In contrast, Dave Mackay gave Spurs the resilience and character also necessary to win silverware. He had already won the Scottish Championship with Hearts when he joined Spurs in 1959 and his knowhow proved vital.

Mackay was pivotal in the Double year playing 37 of Tottenham's 42 league games last season and was part of both FA Cup-winning teams.

Jimmy Greaves joined Spurs from an unhappy spell in Italy after the Double season but became as popular as any player at the club and his record of 266 goals remained a Spurs record for decades.

Greaves was a master one-on-one finisher and would glide over the pitch leaving defenders in his wake. He scored twice in the 1963 victory over Atletico and four years later was part of the 1967 side that won the FA Cup.

On four occasions during his Spurs days, Greaves ended up as the First Division's top scorer, having also done it twice earlier in his career at Chelsea. He was famed for scoring on his debut for every team he played for including England, though he was controversially left out of the 1966 World Cup Final side.

Spurs became a renowned cup team under Keith Burkenshaw in the early 1980 twice winning the FA Cup and beating Anderlecht to lifting the UEFA Cup.

Burkenshaw formed a very close bond with his captain Steve Perryman, whose 655 league appearances for the club remains a record.

Homegrown talent Glenn Hoddle was a masterful midfield creator in that time, his long-range passing and spectacular volleys making him Tottenham's equivalent of an American Football quarterback.

Hoddle was part of the Spurs side that won back-to-back FA Cups in 1981 and 1982 and was the matchwinner in the latter with his penalty against QPR the only goal of the replay at Wembley.

Alongside him during that era was Argentine World Cup winner Ossie Ardiles whose arrival with Ricky Villa in 1978 produced unprecedented excitement in a league unused to foreign players at that time.

Ardiles became a hugely-popular figure and the inspiration behind the hit record Ossie's Dream – the club's cup final record in 1981 – though on that occasion it was the less-heralded Villa who grabbed the headlines with a solo winner against Manchester City still regarded as among the best seen at Wembley.

Bridging the successful 1980s period and the FA Cup triumph in 1991 was Mr Dependable Gary Mabbutt, whose 611 appearances until retirement in 1998 is second on the all-time list to Perryman.

Paul Gascoigne said during his whole career, Mabbutt was the only player he couldn't beat in training.

Gazza joined Tottenham for a British record £2million in 1988 and two years later became a national institution for his performances – and tears – for England at the Italia '90 World Cup.

A madcap genius, Gascoigne single-handedly got Spurs to the 1991 FA Cup final including a thunderous free-kick against Arsenal, but then got himself injured with a reckless challenge on Nottingham Forest's Gary Charles.

Renowned for his ability to dribble past defenders, Spurs and England team-mate Gary Lineker said of him: 'He had great confidence and this amazing body strength. He'd push people off.'

It's remarkable that for a club of their size, Spurs have only put two League Cups in the trophy cabinet since 1991.

Jurgen Klinsmann brought glamour when he signed after the 1994 World Cup, the first truly A-list foreign player to come to the Premier League, thereby opening floodgates.

Klinsmann's swallow dive to celebrate his first goal – a riposte to accusations he was a diver – won him popularity and he returned to Spurs for a second spell in 1998 to save them from relegation, scoring four goals in a crucial 6-2 win at Wimbledon.

Greaves' long-standing goals record was finally eclipsed in 2023 by Harry Kane when he scored his 267th goal for Spurs, against Manchester City.

Though Kane never won a trophy for Spurs, he did about everything else. His 213 Premier League goals is second only Alan Shearer and he's won the Golden Boot on three occasions.

Kane's consistency has been in stark contrast to events off the field at Tottenham and after serving nine different managers, there were few fans who begrudged him a move to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.

To select your greatest Tottenham player, click on the voting button or email greatest@dailymail.co.uk if you want to choose someone not on the shortlist.

We will reveal the results of the greatest all-time player for all 20 Premier League clubs before the start of the 2024/25 season.

Watch incredible body-cam footage of Son Heung-min's wondergoal for Tottenham in pre-season friendly match against K-League XI

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min scored a wondergoal in his side's pre-season friendly against a K-League XI on Wednesday - and it was all captured on the referee's body-cam.

Tottenham took the lead in Seoul through Dejan Kulusevski just before the half hour mark, before Son doubled their advantage nine minutes later with a brilliant strike.

The boy-cam footage shows Son dribbling across the edge of the penalty area onto his right foot before unleashing a powerful effort into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

The referee was in the perfect position, as he was stood almost directly behind Son as he let fly and his shot found the net.

Most players would have run off celebrating wildly after such a stunning strike, but Son hardly acknowledged it, having become accustomed to scoring similar goals over the years.

He added to his tally on the stroke of half time as he exchanged passes with Kulusevski before coolly slotting home.

The K-League XI outfit threatened a comeback after the break when Stanislav Iljutchenko scored twice in as many minutes, but Spurs teenager Will Lankshear gave his side some breathing space with a goal midway through the second half.

Oberdan Alionco de Lima pulled another goal back for the K-League XI with nine minutes to go, but Ange Postecoglou's side held on for a 4-3 win.

After scoring twice in his homeland, Son admitted it had been a 'special night' for him.

'The lads did a fantastic job and the fans were unbelievable today,' he told Tottenham's official X account.

'I'm very proud to be Korean. They love football, they love us. It was a very special night, and a special game for me.'

Tottenham have one more match in Seoul against Bayern Munich on Saturday before they head back to the UK to finish their pre-season schedule ahead of their first Premier League game against newly-promoted Leicester City on August 19.

'I've got one f***ing thing to say!': Ange Postecoglou's FURIOUS touchline rant caught live on TV as the Spurs boss rails against his side for their dismal pre-season display

Tottenham claimed a 4-3 victory in the second match of their pre-season tour of Asia thanks, in part, to an almighty scolding from their manager Ange Postecoglou.

The Premier League outfit were given the hairdryer treatment in full view of the watching public during a drinks break as their clash with a K-League XI remained goalless after 25 minutes.

Postecoglou named a strong side including Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson and new signing Archie Gray for the match at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

But the Australian was enraged by what he had seen from his players in the early exchanges. The 58-year-old, who has fostered a somewhat of a cult following among football fans for his straight-talking no-nonsense interviews, held nothing back when reprimanding the squad.

'I’ve got one f***ing thing to say. We go and have a crack, man for man,' he bellowed to his players who were stood taking on water in the sweltering heat.

Warning: Explicit language

His fiery message was clearly heard by the team as they quickly raced to a three-goal advantage before the break, every man no doubt conscious of the encore that awaited in the dressing room had they not shown their dominance over their opponents.

A brace from Son and another from Kulusevski made the north Londoners comfortable but the result was ultimately a lot closer than Postecoglou would have expected, given their supremacy at the interval.

K-League's finest grabbed two goals back in two minutes through Stanislav Iljutcenko before young striker Will Lankshear restored an element of comfort for Spurs.

Unfortunately, a third goal goal for the home side in the 81st minute, that was scored by Brazilian Oberdan, ensured there would be a nervy conclusion to the contest.

Regardless of the way the victory was achieved, it did see Spurs clinch their fourth win in as many pre-season games this summer.

Next up is a double-header against Bayern Munich, with the first clash taking place on August 3.

A return leg of sorts follows a week later at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where they could face their former star and all-time leading scorer Harry Kane for the first time since his departure last summer.

David Pleat has left Tottenham in a clear-out of old-style scouts at the team

Pleat previously managed Spurs in several capacities during his time at the club

Technical director Johan Lange is focused on a data-driven scouting strategy

David Pleat's long association with Tottenham Hotspur has reached an end as the club's technical director Johan Lange continues his purge on the old-style scouts.

Lange has now cleared out virtually all the 'eyes-in-the-stand' scouts from Spurs in favour of a recruitment strategy dominated by data and agents just as he did at Aston Villa.

Pleat, aged 79, has been employed as a consultant scout since 2010 and was key to the signing of Dele Alli from Milton Keynes Dons.

It will be the last of various roles in which he has served the North London club. He was appointed manager in 1986 and returned as director of football for more than six years, during which time he had three spells as caretaker boss.

His first involvement in a coaching capacity at the club in May, 1986, saw Pleat guide Spurs to a third place finish in the old First Division and an FA Cup final before leaving a year later.

'I should like to thank David for his contribution over so many years and in so many ways,' said Spurs chairman Daniel Levy in a club statement.

He had, and continues to have, an encyclopaedic knowledge of the game and players.

'I know he will continue to enjoy watching our games at all levels.'

'He had, and continues to have, an encyclopaedic knowledge of the game and players.'

Pleat hailed his time at Spurs as a 'huge part' of his life in a short statement where he said farewell after his exit from the club was confirmed ahead of the new Premier League season.

“Football is my life and continues to be. Spurs has been a huge part of that. However the game and its methods change and it’s time for me to now step back from my scouting role,' he said.

'I look forward to watching the Club have great success in the coming years. I hope to continue my association with the game,' added Pleat.

In May, Tottenham cleared out several other scouts including senior scout Ian Broomfield.

Tottenham are expecting to sign 18-year-old Yang Min-hyuk from Gangwon FC

Winger Yang, who has been compared to Son Heung-min, will arrive in January

He is set to play against Spurs next week for a K League XI in an exhibition game

Tottenham are finalising terms for winger Yang Min-hyuk from Gangwon FC.

The 18-year old will join Spurs in January pending his medical in South Korea.

Yang has been widely compared to Tottenham's current South Korean star and captain Son Heung-min.

Yang, dubbed by many as the 'next Son', has shone in the K League in 2024 and won the Young Player of the Month award in April, May and June.

The teenager has started all 24 of Gangwon's league games so far this season, producing seven goals and three assists.

Yang is set to become the third Korean player in the history of the Tottenham men's team.

The first was left back Lee Young-pyo, who represented Spurs 93 times between 2005 and 2008.

But Tottenham's most famous Korean player past or present is undoubtably Son, who has scored 162 goals in 408 games since his arrival in 2015.

Like Yang, Son's natural position is as a wide attacking player but he was used more centrally last season following Harry Kane's move from Spurs to Bayern Munich.

The current K League campaign will end on November 24.

With 15 rounds of fixtures remaining this season, Gangwon are currently placed fourth - just three points behind leaders Pohang Steelers.

Yang is likely to play against Ange Postecoglou's Spurs before he joins them.

That is because he has been selected to represent the K League in an all-star team that will take on Tottenham in an exhibition game in Seoul on Wednesday.

Tottenham have confirmed the departure of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with the midfielder sealing a loan move to Marseille that will become permanent.

As reported by Mail Sport, the Ligue 1 club were closing in on agreeing a deal on Saturday evening after making an offer of £13.5million.

Hojbjerg had also attracted interest from Atletico Madrid and Fulham but is believed to have been keen to work under new Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Discussions advanced quickly and the initial loan will see the 28-year-old spend the upcoming season in France before his transfer is made permanent.

Hojbjerg landed in Marseille on Sunday night and was greeted by supporters.

Denmark international Hojbjerg made 184 appearances during his four-year spell at Spurs, scoring 10 goals. He previously played for Bayern Munich and Southampton.

He had entered the last year of his contract, however, and would therefore have been available to leave on a free transfer in 2025 had an extension not been agreed.

Spurs have strengthened Ange Postecoglou's midfield this summer with Archie Gray joining from Leeds and Lucas Bergvall arriving from Djurgardens in Sweden.

The club statement wished Hojbjerg 'all the best for the future'.

Hojbjerg was part of the Denmark side that were knocked out of Euro 2024 by hosts Germany in the last-16 and has been capped 81 times by his country to date.

Marseille have looked to splash the cash since appointing De Zerbi.

Mason Greenwood joined from Manchester United in a controversial deal worth around £30m while midfielder Ismael Kone completed a move from Watford.

The club are also working on a deal to sign striker Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur have handed new shirt numbers to two fan-favourites

Manager Ange Postecoglou has fielded a youthful squad so far in pre-season

Tottenham Hotspur have handed new squad numbers to two of the club's most promising talents, ahead of their pre-season tour to Asia.

Spurs have already played two friendlies since their pre-season began earlier in July, with two victories courtesy of 7-2 thumping of SPL team Hearts, and a 2-0 win over Championship side, QPR.

Manager Ange Postecogolou has since picked his squad for Spurs' summer tour of Japan and South Korea, and will be taking 31 players – including a clutch of their exciting young talent.

Players to make the squad include forwards Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear, and midfielders Luca Bergvall and Archie Gray, will feature, as well as established first-team talent, such as Son Hueng-min, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.

And it's two first-team regulars and fan-favourites that have been given new squad numbers ahead of the trip, in recognition of their growing seniority within the team.

Posted on X, Spurs' official account revealed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been given the No. 1 jersey, trading it for the No. 13 he wore last season.

It's a change that signifies the Italian international's firm grip on the role, having all but sealed his place as first-choice shot-stopper with a string of incredible performances across the season.

The 27-year-old joined Tottenham at the beginning of the 2023-24 season, having been signed on a five-year contract from Serie A side, Empoli, in a deal reportedly worth an initial £17.2million.

There were questions whether the relatively unknown keeper would handle the pressures of the Premier League – not least of which because he was filling the gloves of former team captain, Hugo Lloris.

Vicario's No. 13 will not be travelling far, either. In fact, it will remain in the first team, as it's been handed to left-back, Destiny Udogie. Udogie received his favoured No. 13, in exchange for No. 38.

The second Italian international in the team, Udogie has become a firm fan-favourite for his ownership of a position the club has sorely been lacking in. Like his compatriot Vicario, Udogie had been playing in Serie A, where he joined the club from Udinese.

Tottenham signed the talented 21-year-old on a five-year-deal for a reported £16.8million, back in 2022. Only 20 at the time, Udogie was loaned back to Udinese for the 2022-23 season.

Since making his debut for Spurs, the youngster has impressed with his pace, range of passing and ball-carrying ability. Udogie has suffered with injuries through the season, with his absence been keenly felt in a number of important games.
