Tottenham will look to bounce back and avoid losing three games in a row, as a visit to Coventry City could provide them with a much-needed victory.

Coventry City will face Premier League opposition in Tottenham Hotspur in their quest to gain access to the next round of the League Cup. Mark Robins’s side arrested their slump from their defeat to Norwich City prior to the international break but made amends with a point against Watford after the break.

Robins’s men have not had the best of starts this season in the EFL Championship, as they languish in 14th place. Should they continue on their inconsistent trajectory, they will again fall short of making it to the play-off spots, which will be Coventry’s realistic target this season.

However, they are hoping to have a decent cup run in the League Cup, having already beaten Bristol City and Oxford United. However, Robins’s side are now facing the prospect of a big clash with Tottenham at home, as the manager will hope to recreate the performance that saw them earn plaudits as they came close to beating Manchester United the last time they played a top-flight side in last season’s FA Cup semi-final.

Ange Postecoglou has come under tremendous pressure to stabilise Tottenham’s season after a morale-sapping loss to bitter rivals Arsenal on Sunday. The defeat marked their third successive loss at home to their North London rivals, while also their second on the trot in the Premier League this season.

Tottenham are currently experiencing their worst start to a season, which is in total contrast to their performances this time last season. Postecoglou’s post-match comments have also been highlighted as the Australian claimed that he ‘always’ wins a trophy in his second season at any given side.

Whether they take those words with a pinch of salt or as a source of optimism will be decided once Spurs play Coventry. In truth, the team have looked weak ahgainst more vigorous opposition, meaning the League Cup might open up a big chance for Tottenham to end their long-standing and well-documented trophy drought.

Team News & Tactics

Coventry City

The big ongoing issue for Coventry City is the absence of midfielder Ben Sheaf, as they struggled for relevance without the midfielder when playing Watford the last time out.

There is also a fresh injury concern, as Joel Latibeaudiere was forced off with a knock, which does leave him a doubt to face Spurs. Japanese winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto will miss out as well as he is out until at least October with an ankle issue.

Jamie Allen and Josh Eccles should take up the central midfield berths for Coventry, with Kasey Palmer the choice to play in the No.10 role. Manager Mark Robins will continue to rely on the goalscoring prowess of Ellis Simms, as the former Everton man will lead the line with the support of Ephron Mason-Clark and Haji Wright, attacking through the wide areas.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Wilson; Ewijk, Thomas, Kitching, Dasilva; Allen, Eccles; Mason-Clark, Palmer, Wright; Simms

Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou will undoubtedly use this game to bring some players up to speed and give minutes to fringe stars. This clash is also a chance to rest up some of his regular starters in the Premier League, including club captain Heung-min Son and many other vital stars.

Postecoglou could also hand starts to promising young stars like Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, with the pair likely to form a midfield partnership alongside Pape Matar Sarr. Fringe attackers Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner are also expected to play, with star striker Dominic Solanke set to lead the line despite his full game against Arsenal at the weekend.

Postecoglou could continue to rely on Micky van de Ven at the back, although Cristian Romero could be rested as Radu Dragusin will start. Similarly, Fraser Forster is in line for his first start this season, while Djed Spence could get a spot at left-back.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Van de Ven, Spence; Gray, Sarr; Odobert, Bergwall, Werner; Solanke

Key Stats

Tottenham have kept a clean sheet in their last four matches against Coventry in all competitions.

Tottenham have won six of their last seven matches against Coventry in all competitions.

Tottenham have suffered defeats in their last 2 games.

Coventry City were eliminated from the first round of last season’s League Cup.

Dominic Solanke

After a lacklustre performance from Tottenham against Arsenal despite dominating the possession and chances, there were some questions asked of their attacking stars. One player, who still has some credit in the bank following an injury-led start to life at his new club, Dominic Solanke, will have to make a case for himself in these games against lower-league opposition.

He will be eager to get up to speed with his fitness and know Ange Postecoglou’s system better, which does make his case to start against Coventry. Solanke will want to get off the mark for Spurs as soon as possible, as the fans will want to see him score plenty in the season ahead, and this game is a big chance for the striker to shine.

Prediction

Coventry City 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Coventry did have a brilliant game the last time they faced a top-flight team, as they came back from three goals down to hold Manchester United to a draw in last season’s FA Cup semi-finals. However, they have regreesed in the period since, as they are not expected to come out on top against Tottenham.

Spurs are desperate to arrest their recent slump, as Ange Postecoglou will target a win against Coventry in the League Cup. From a personal point of view, the Australian manager will likely remain serious in this competition, as it does represent a big chance to end Spurs’ trophy drought. Hence, when Tottenham travel to Coventry, they are expected to get past their hosts and into the next round of the competition.

Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are all interested in the services of Red Bull Salzburg defensive sensation Samson Baidoo.

Samson Baidoo’s exceptional rise at Red Bull Salzburg have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. According to a report from HITC, the Austrian defensive sensation is on the wishlist of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United. All three Premier League clubs have been monitoring him ahead of a potential move in the near future.

Baidoo got promoted to the Salzburg first team in the summer of 2022 and he hasn’t looked back since. The 20-year-old centre-back has established himself in their first team and has also managed to make his debut for the Austrian national team.

While he was out injured for a significant period of time, Baidoo had his breakthrough season last time out. This time around he has been a constant feature for the Austrian club at the back and his consistent performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

He still has around three years left on his deal at Salzburg but there is a significant amount of interest in his services and he could be on the move in the near future. Baidoo is a ball-playing centre-half who loves to push further up the pitch and get involved in the thick of things.

Premier League clubs monitor Samson Baidoo

He has even everything that is needed to succeed at the very top. His ability along with his huge potential have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs and Manchester City are one of them. While Pep Guardiola‘s team are well covered at the back, they are always on the lookout for opportunities to further strengthen their squad.

They feel the 20-year-old could do wonders for them in the long run. As a result, City have been keeping tabs on him for the past 18 months. Their scouts are impressed by his abilities and feel he could be a great signing for them.

Apart from City, Tottenham and Newcastle have also monitored the youngster in the recent past. Ange Postecoglou seeks more depth in the heart of the defence while Eddie Howe also feels the need to reinforce his backline with a younger option.

Baidoo could be just the perfect signing for all three clubs. Meanwhile, Salzburg will be happy to see the amount of competition for his services as it will allow them to make a significant financial gain from his move.

The Premier League is set for the season’s first North London Derby, as Tottenham host Arsenal in a game that could shape their seasons.

Ange Postecoglou will want nothing less than a victory over bitter rivals Arsenal when the two sides meet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. The Australian won plaudits for having Spurs play exciting football, but this campaign is the real test of his credibility.

Having overseen a loss in the North London Derby at home last season, Postecoglou has yet to taste victory in this fixture. Some might argue that amid the absence of certain players from the Arsenal squad for this game, Tottenham might have an excellent chance to have an upper hand. However, only time will tell if the Australian manager can inflict pain on his north London counterpart.

The Spurs fanbase might have been in a confident mood given the settings of this game. But that is probably not the case, given how their team has started the season. While Tottenham vividly improved their attacking brand of football, results continue to evade them after a draw, win, and loss to start this season. The North London derby will be a stern test for them and Postecoglou, as it could shape their campaign from here on.

Mikel Arteta’s new signing will certainly boost Arsenal’s chances ahead of the North London Derby, although the Spanish manager will need more than that to overcome their bitter rivals. Arsenal enjoyed a solid start to their campaign after back-to-back victories over Wolves and then Aston Villa. But they stuttered at home against Brighton due to a combination of a controversial red card and missed chances.

In truth, Arteta will not be worried about their form as such, as Arsenal have clearly played in second gear in the games so far this season ahead of the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The big worry for the manager would be missing a host of crucial stars in the North London derby and the crunch games after that, which will see them travel to Atalanta and Manchester City.

Arsenal have shown their dominance in these fixtures over the last couple of years. Ever since their loss at this venue in the 21/22 season, the Gunners have won here in their next two games and remain unbeaten in four North London Derbies. Whether they come into the next one as favourites like all four remains the question, which will surely be answered on Sunday.

Team News & Tactics

Tottenham Hotspur

In the last few days, Ange Postecoglou has been sweating on the fitness of key players on his side, and it appears he has received a massive boost from the return of essential personnel. Defender Micky van de Ven and striker Dominic Solanke have resumed training, and there is a big chance the pair could start against Arsenal on Sunday.

There are still significant doubts about Richarlison, who could eventually be ruled out of the contest, and the same goes for Yves Bissouma. Postecoglou did not definitively rule out the Mali international from the North London derby, but that could be the case when the teams are announced on Sunday.

Overall, Postecoglou will have a solid lineup to rely upon, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr set to take their places in central midfield. Van de Ven’s return will see Tottenham have a sturdy enough backline with a familiar back four in place against Arsenal.

Should Solanke make it to the lineup, he will lead the line, with Son Heung-min, James Maddison, and Dejan Kulusevski supporting the former Bournemouth striker. Timo Werner and Brennan Johnson are Postecoglou’s options on the bench. At the same time, Radu Dragusin will be alert to the possibility of deputising for one of the central defenders should they face a problem during the game, especially van de Ven.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bentancur; Kulusevski, Maddison, Son; Solanke

Arsenal

The international break was not too kind to Arsenal, as their problems compounded over the two-week period. They were already dealing with the idea of Declan Rice’s suspension ahead of the North London derby, and now they could potentially miss two more key stars. There are also fitness concerns with another, Gabriel Jesus, who might still be assessed before a decision is made on his involvement.

Riccardo Calafiori suffered a ‘freak’ calf injury against France and could be touch-and-go for his first North London derby. Jurrien Timber might still start at left back, but some rumours suggest he could be used in Rice’s place in central midfield. The big blow came in the form of captain Martin Odegaard suffering a nasty ankle injury that will likely keep him out of this contest.

While Arteta has not explicitly ruled his captain out of the contest, the wider implications of that injury will likely see him miss this game and others. A late assessment will give a better picture, as current projections insist Odegaard could miss at least 3-4 weeks of action. With him and Rice set for absences, there is the chance for Jorginho to partner Thomas Partey in the middle in a double-pivot.

His absence does leave Arteta with a selection headache, as he has a big gap to fill in the lineup. There were rumours of teenager Ethan Nwaneri starting this game, although knowing Arteta, it is unlikely. Kai Havertz could come into that attacking midfield role and allow one of Leandro Trossard or Raheem Sterling to occupy the false-nine role.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Raya; Ben White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Partey, Jorginho; Saka, Havertz, Sterling; Trossard

Key Stats

Tottenham have lost their last two home games against Arsenal.

Spurs have never lost three in a row at home to Arsenal.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last four North London Derbies in the Premier League, winning three of those games.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League games.

Bukayo Saka scored home and away goals against Tottenham in the Premier League last season. A goal on Sunday will make him the third Arsenal player to find the back of the net in three consecutive North London Derby appearances, after Emmanuel Adebayor and Robert Pires.

Player to Watch

Kai Havertz

The former Chelsea man had a fantastic time with Germany during the international break. While he scored only once from the penalty spot against Hungary, his overall contributions in the attacking third caught the eye. Havertz has massive versatile qualities that will let Arteta use him differently in this north London derby.

Should Martin Odegaard miss out, the German is expected to feature as a No.10 in this tweaked system for this game; Havertz can perform at the highest level. He will be critical to Arsenal’s chances in this game, as he can dictate the attacking play with his presence and cleverness in the final third.

Prediction

Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Arsenal

Tottenham and their fanbase might feel this is an opportunistic time to face Arsenal, given the critical injuries to their rivals. However, there are doubts whether Spurs have what it takes to trump their North London rivals on Sunday, but they do stand a chance given their home advantage and critical returnees.

Arsenal will miss critical stars for this encounter, but they do have the quality in depth to cover for those absentees. The Gunners still have a solid enough defensive setup to stop Spurs attackers, and their players in the final third have the capacity to make the difference. On paper, this game is poised to be tight. But in truth, the Gunners are likely to take three points.

Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the front row to sign 26-year-old Canadian striker Jonathan David from Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Juve, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Jonathan David next year. The LOSC Lille striker is also a target for Juventus, with the Bianconeri ready to offer him a €6 million-a-year contract. However, the three Premier League clubs are in the front row to sign the 26-year-old from the Ligue 1 club.

The rise and rise of Jonathan David

Jonathan David has established himself as one of the best players in Ligue 1 since joining LOSC Lille from KAA Gent in August 2020. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he spent his formative years in Canada. However, the Canadian international has risen in prominence during his spell with Lille.

The 26-year-old has started the new season well, following up from an exceptional 2023/24 campaign that saw him amass 26 goals and nine assists in 47 outings across all competitions. Meanwhile, David’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of well-known clubs like Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Premier League move beckons?

Arsenal failed to sign a striker in the summer transfer window, with top target Benjamin Sesko remaining at RB Leipzig. However, David has emerged as a viable target, with the LOSC Lille centre-forward having the quality to be an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United’s interest in Jonathan David is understandable. The Magpies are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of Alexander Isak amid his links with Arsenal. While the Swede might remain at St. James’ Park, Callum Wilson will likely leave Newcastle United. So, David is an option worth considering.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, the North London outfit signed a striker in the summer transfer window by landing Dominic Solanke. However, considering they might participate in four competitions next year, Tottenham could do with another striker. Meanwhile, the report suggests the three Premier League clubs are the front-runners in the race to sign the Canadian striker.

The 26-year-old is also a target for Juventus, with the Bianconeri ready to offer a contract with €6 million-a-year wages. However, with Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham in the front row to sign David, a summer move to the Premier League might be on the cards.

Adrien Rabiot offered to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal and Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign free agent Adrien Rabiot as he continues his struggle to find a new club.

According to Team Talk, Arsenal and Tottenham still have a chance to sign Adrien Rabiot on a Bosman move, with the player being offered to them. The north London duo aren’t alone, as Manchester United were recently linked with the midfielder, who continues his struggle to find a new club.

Arsenal and Tottenham linked with Adrien Rabiot

Adrien Rabiot reportedly rejected the idea of continuing with Juventus and left the club on a free transfer when his contract expired. The Frenchman was insistent on joining a Premier League side this summer and might have held talks with a few of those teams.

Managed by his Mother/agent, Rabiot’s salary demands and a sizeable signing-on fee have so far scuppered a chance to join an English team. Manchester United was linked, and with Casemiro’s links to Galatasaray, they might have even considered the 29-year-old as a replacement for the Brazilian, as Premier League sides can still sign free agents outside of the regular transfer window.

Now, Arsenal and Tottenham may still have the chance to sign the Frenchman. As Casemiro is intent on staying at the club, the chance of the club signing Rabiot are all but over. Spurs boss Ange Postecogliu might still feel a bit short with his midfield options, but that position is not a necessity after the window has shut, which could see them pass up the expensive opportunity to sign the 29-year-old.

As for Arsenal, they have a few problems in midfield, namely with the new signing of Mikel Merino. The Spaniard suffered an unfortunate shoulder injury in his first-ever training session, which will see him miss the best part of two months. Hence, Mikel Arteta chooses to look at Rabiot; it would seem logical; however, the 29-year-old would push back the club financially, something they might need to follow through with.

Rabiot arrival linked with Jorginho exit

In recent days, Galatasaray missed out on Casemiro and immediately set their sights on Arsenal’s Jorginho. The idea is that if the Italian were to leave, as many reports have suggested, he might be owing to a lack of game time in the current season under Arteta.

Tottenham Hotspur tell Sergio Reguilon to seal Turkey move

Tottenham Hotspur have informed outcast Sergio Reguilon that he needs to seal a move to Turkiye in the coming days.

The North London club did some exceptional work in the recently concluded transfer window. They added a lot of quality to their squad and even managed to offload players who were surplus to requirements. But, they couldn’t get rid of Sergio Reguilon who is not a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans moving ahead.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Spanish international has been given a transfer ultimatum by Tottenham Hotspur. The club have asked the full-back to secure a move to Turkey in the final days of their transfer window as staying at Spurs could see him sit on the sidelines for months.

Reguilon was an important part of their first team in the initial years after joining them from Real Madrid. But, he has been surplus to requirements since the summer of 2022 and has spent the last two seasons out on loan.

The Spanish left-back spent the second half of last season at Brentford and he did do a decent job. However, that has had zero impact on his future at the North London club. Postecoglou doesn’t count on him and he was asked to look for a move away while the transfer window in the UK was still open.

Final opportunity for Reguilon to leave Tottenham

Despite attempts from the player’s side as well as Tottenham, the 27-year-old couldn’t secure a move away before 30th August’s deadline day. While the window in Europe’s top five leagues has been shut, it remains open in Turkiye until the 13th of September and is most likely the former Real Madrid graduate’s final opportunity to secure a move away.

Tottenham want to offload him and they have asked Reguilon to join a Turkish club in the coming days as staying at Spurs could see him sit on the sidelines until the window reopens in January. The 27-year-old is eager to join a club where he can play regular first-team football and moving to the Super Lig could help his cause. However, it won’t be that straightforward and with only a few days left in the Turkish transfer window, it is one to keep an eye on.

Turkish midfielder Yusuf Yazici has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs this month, and it will be interesting to see if they take up the opportunity.

According to HITC, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Yusuf Yazici on a free transfer. It will be interesting to see if any of the four Premier League clubs are keen on improving their midfield unit with the Turkish international.

Signing him on a free transfer could represent an excellent bargain. The player is still only 27 and he could be a useful squad player for them. Manchester United could certainly use more depth in the middle of the park, and adding more quality to the site for free would be a wise decision. They have also been linked with another free agent, Adrien Rabiot.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have sanctioned the departures of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp this summer. It remains to be seen whether they take up the opportunity to sign the former Lille midfielder.

As far as Aston Villa and Newcastle United are concerned, both clubs will be looking to do well in the domestic competitions, and they will look to push for European qualification as well. A deeper squad with more quality will certainly help them this season.

Yusuf Yazici will want to join a top club

The 27-year-old midfielder will certainly be attracted to the idea of moving to the Premier League, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. The opportunity to join the likes of Manchester United or Tottenham will be quite attractive for him.

The 45-cap Turkey international is reportedly a target for other clubs like Galatasaray, AC Milan, and Lazio as well. The Turkish outfit is currently leading the race to sign Yusuf Yazici in a Bosman move.

In the Premier League, Wolves, Southampton, Fulham, and West Ham United are also keeping tabs on his situation, and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. The Turk is at the peak of his powers right now, and he will look to make his mark at a top European league. A move to England would be an exciting step up for him.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham attempted summer move for Lois Openda

Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham were reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old Belgian striker Lois Openda from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig this summer.

According to a report by Sport BILD, as relayed by Sport Witness, Lois Openda was popular in the Premier League in the summer transfer window, although a move did not see the light of day. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur were interested in the RB Leipzig striker. However, the Bundesliga outfit turned the English trio away as they did not want to sell him.

The rise and rise of Lois Openda

Lois Openda has established himself as one of the best players in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from RC Lens last summer. A native of Liege, he spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Club Brugge. However, he rose in prominence during his spell with RC Lens.

The 24-year-old has gone from strength to strength during his spell with RB Leipzig. Openda was a standout performer alongside Xavi Simons for an inconsistent Leipzig side last season. He has continued in the same vein of form this term, scoring three goals in as many games thus far. Meanwhile, the Belgian striker’s performances have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham.

A man in demand

Chelsea briefly considered the RB Leipzig striker as a top target for the summer transfer window. The Blues were keen on signing a centre-forward but could only secure Marc Guiu’s services. They chased Victor Osimhen for several weeks but could not complete that move. However, Chelsea also contacted the Bundesliga club for Openda.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in Lois Openda was understandable. The Red Devils eventually secured Joshua Zirkzee’s services, but the Belgium international was a viable target for them. However, RB Leipzig’s asking price of €75 million might have scared them away even if the Bundesliga club did not turn down Manchester United’s approach.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, they were keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window to fill Harry Kane’s void in the final third. Openda thus emerged as a viable target for the North London club. However, Tottenham eventually turned to Dominic Solanke after the enquiry for the RB Leipzig striker did not work.

Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club will charge a bomb to part ways with Openda in 2025, slapping a price tag of €75 million on him. With the 24-year-old Belgian striker going from strength to strength at RB Leipzig, the asking price is understandable.

Tottenham Hotspur keen on Angel Gomes

Tottenham could target a Bosman move for LOSC Lille star Angel Gomes after his impressive rise in recent times.

According to HITC, Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Angel Gomes following his England call-up. Spurs could sign the LOSC Lille star on a free transfer next summer when his deal at the French side expires.

Angel Gomes on Tottenham’s list

Tottenham had a reasonably successful transfer window and held the distinction of the most expensive signing of the summer. They paid £65 million to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in what was also their club-record purchase. Beyond that, they heavily invested in promising young talents like Archie Gray, Lucas Bergwall and Wilson Odobert.

They are not done yet, as this might have been the beginning of Ange Postecoglou’s plans, as he now also has set sights on Angel Gomes. The 24-year-old former Manchester United academy graduate left for LOSC Lille and has slowly risen to prominence.

In the latest call-ups to the England squad, interim boss Lee Carsley has named Gomes in his team, and this will be a big boost to his career. With that, the attacking midfielder, who can also play other central positions, could be angling a move back to England to feature at the top of the Premier League charts.

Tottenham were interested in the summer, although they could not find the room to make the signing then. Lille were also confident of keeping him for the long-term future, and had hoped to agree a new contract, but that has not materialised. Aston Villa were also keen, and as the season progresses, more clubs will come into the equation for the 24-year-old.

Ange Gomes to leave Lille in 2025

Gomes joined Lille in 2020 on a free transfer from Manchester United and might similarly leave the French giants. The 24-year-old is reportedly not thinking about signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 side and could open the doors to a free transfer and return to England.

Tottenham will be alert to the situation and will want to make an early move for the attacking midfielder. They can get in direct contact as soon as January and enter into a pre-contract agreement, although there’s a feeling that the player’s rising stock would push for a bidding war next summer, with many top clubs expected to be involved.

Sergio Reguilon could still leave Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur outcast Sergio Reguilon could still leave the North London club even after the end of deadline day.

According to Alasdair Gold, Sergio Reguilon might have failed to seal a move away from Tottenham on transfer deadline day but he still has further chances of leaving the club in the coming days with the market still open in a few European countries.

Reguilon made a name for himself at Sevilla during a loan spell back in the 2019/20 season before securing a move to Tottenham from his childhood club Real Madrid. While he was an integral part of their first team setup, he has been surplus to requirements for some time now.

He has spent the last two seasons out on loan. During the 2022/23 season, he was on loan at Atletico Madrid. Last season, he spent the first half at Manchester United before joining Brentford for the second half of the season.

Spurs want to offload Reguilon in the next days

Irrespective of what he has done during his loan spells, Reguilon is not in the plans of Tottenham moving ahead. With his contract running out in 2025, the North London club have been looking to offload him. The player was informed to look for new clubs quite early in the window and he has been linked with quite a few top clubs but nothing has happened as yet.

Barcelona were considering the idea of signing the 27-year-old in an attempt to add depth to their full-back department but with the transfer window in Spain, Italy, England, Germany and France now shut, a return to Spain is no longer a possibility.

Reguilon could still leave Tottenham

While Spurs could sanction his departure before the end of their transfer window, they still have an opportunity to get him off their books in the coming days as the transfer window in Turkiye, Greece, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands remains open.
