Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur go toe-to-toe at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils were unable to build on their 3-0 success at Southampton a fortnight ago when playing out a drab 0-0 stalemate with Crystal Palace last Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s team have since been held to a 1-1 draw by FC Twente in the Europa League at Old Trafford, piling more more pressure on the United boss in the process.

Therefore, the Manchester giants will be looking to use Sunday’s tussle with Tottenham as a jolt to kick-start their season.

As for Spurs, they steadied the ship with a morale-boosting 3-1 win over Brentford last weekend, on an afternoon where my Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Bet Builder landed.

Ange Postecoglou’s side picked up another victory in midweek after they kicked off their Europa League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Qarabag.

How the bookies view it: Red Devils to reign supreme

Despite winning just one of their last four Premier League matches, Manchester United are 5/4 favourites on Betano to claim top honours at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Tottenham are 17/10 (Betano) outsiders to triumph on their top-flight travels for the first time this term, while an all square affair is an unfancied 14/5 (Betano).

New customer offer: Get 40/1 on either side to win

If you fancy either Man United or Tottenham to take three points, and you don't yet have an account with Betano, here's an offer to whet your appetite. Get odds of 40/1 on either side to win, with the enhanced odds paid in free bets.

Head to head: Another shootout in store?

Two of the last three meetings between the sides have ended in a high-scoring 2-2 draw. The same scoreline on Sunday can be backed at a best price of 11/1 on Bet 365.

Players to watch: Solanke hitting his stride?

Dominic Solanke has scored in each of his last two appearances for Tottenham following his club-record move from Bournemouth over the summer. The Spurs striker is 11/5 on UniBet to extend his scoring streak on Sunday.

Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo is even-money (1/1) on Bet 365 to attempt just one shot during this game and that holds plenty of appeal given that the teenage sensation has tried his luck in each of his last two top-flight outings.

Predicted line-ups

Man United’s Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund both returned from injury against Twente in midweek but neither player is expected to get the nod from the off on Sunday.

Tottenham will make the trip north without injured duo Richarlison and Wilson Odebert.

Man United: Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Ugarte, Mainoo; Diallo, Fernandes, Rashford; Zirkzee

Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son

Anything else catch the eye?

There are no shortage of contenders and cases to be made in the player foul markets at Old Trafford on Sunday but I’m going to opt for Noussair Mazraoui and Rodrigo Bentancur each to commit a foul at 10/11 on Bet 365.

New Red Devils right-back Mazraoui gave away no fewer than four free-kicks against Crystal Palace last weekend, and the Moroccan had also fallen foul of the referee in his three Premier League appearances prior to that.

Meanwhile, tough-tackling Tottenham midfielder Bentancur has sinned at least once in all four of his top-flight outings this term, not to mention he committed a foul against Qarabag on Thursday night despite featuring for just 19 minutes as a substitute.

Description

Coventry host Tottenham Hotspur in the last fixture of this round of the Carabao Cup. What an opportunity for the Spurs to regain some of that lost confidence.

It feels like the world came crashing down around Ange Postecoglou since his statement that he always wins trophies in his second season. Tottenham went on to lose the next two games, to Newcastle and Arsenal.

Nonetheless, losing to teams of this calibre is not a surprise and Tottenham were more unlucky than bad in those games. They played better football than both opponents and controlled the pace.

Unfortunately, even after 20 goal attempts against Newcastle and 15 against the Gunners, they found the net only once. Ange's men have to become more effective in the final third as creating chances is far from enough to win games.

As for Coventry, they sit in the middle of the Championship table with a single win in five rounds. Scoring goals seems to be their main problem as well but we have to note that they beat Bristol and Oxford United in the last two rounds.

Moreover, if we roll back a few months, Coventry reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup and even pushed Manchester United to their limit, only losing after penalties. This is not a team that should be underestimated.

How the bookies view it: Spurs with an overwhelming advantage

It comes as no surprise that Tottenham sit as the favourite betting option among all bookmakers. Betfred gave them 2/5 to win, while Coventry's chances have been estimated at 6/1. The draw currently sits at 7/2.

Recent head to head: Tottenham can make it five in a row

The last match between these two sides was in 2013, so there is no real recent head-to-head. But Tottenham won the last clash 3-0 and it was in the FA Cup. Before that, the teams last played in 2003 and Tottenham was dominating the rivalry almost interchangeably.

Players to watch: First goal for Solanke?

Tottenham's transfer season left much to be desired and the lack of depth means that Ange could play with a solid number of regular starters. While we expect Son to rest, you can turn your attention at Dominic Solanke, as the striker should appear early and look for his first goal with his new team.

Probable line-ups

Coventry: Wilson, Van Weijk, Thomas, Binks, Bidwell, Eccles, Allen, Rudoni, Mason-Clark, Wright, Simms

Tottenham: Foster, Porro, Romero, Davies, Dragusin, Kulusevski, Gray, Sarr, Odobert, Werner, Solanke

Anything else catch the eye?

Losing to Coventry would potentially raise questions about Ange's future as Tottenham's manager. We feel like even with Coventry's recent experience in cup competitions, Spurs will find their way to a comfortable win.

Tottenham genuinely look like a team that is a few clinical finishes away from being a contender. The creativity in this squad is up there with the best and it is up to their front three to start utilizing the dozen chances per match.

One could argue that Coventry will have chances to score but we believe it is not worth the risk. Even an Over is questionable. A scoreline around 0-2 sounds way more reasonable.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton Prediction and Betting Tips

Tottenham Hotspur and Everton both had disappointing starts to the Premier League season so they will be desperate to bounce back with a win with they face off in London on matchday two.

The Toffees have been battling against the drop for the last few seasons and their dismal 3-0 loss at home Brighton last weekend suggested another nervous struggle is on the cards.

The stakes are so high for Everton this season with a move to their new stadium imminent but Sean Dyche hasn't been given a lot of money to spend this summer and his squad looks short on quality.

In contrast, Tottenham have splashed out big money on Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert and Archie Gray this summer in a bid to give Aneg Postecoglou a squad capable of breaking into the top four.

Spurs looked slick when they led 1-0 at half-time against Leicester on Monday night but a failure to take their chances came back to haunt them as the Foxes pinched a 1-1 draw.

That has some fans fearing Postecoglou remains all style and no substance so the Aussie needs a win here to keep them sweet.

How the bookies view it: Spurs red-hot favourites at home

After Everton's poor show last weekend it's no surprise to see them as Betfred's 6/1 outsiders. Tottenham Hotspur are just 2/5 and even the draw is pretty big at 18/5.

Recent head to head: Game's a bogey for Toffees

Spurs have been a bogey team for Everton in recent seasons and the Toffees haven't claimed a victory in this fixture in the last seven meetings. Tottenham have won the last three against Everton at home, including a 2-1 triumph last term.

Players to watch: Solanke out to get off the mark

Summer signing Solanke drew a blank at Leicester on Monday but he had a decent game and managed a couple of efforts on target. This Spurs side creates so many chances that he's bound to put one away soon and Betfred price him at 13/10 for anytime scorer.

Keeping Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit will be key to Everton's survival hopes and he should lead the line again here. The striker is 11/4 to open his account for the new campaign.

Probable teams

Rordrigo Bentacur will miss out for Tottenham after his worrying head injury at Leicester. New boy Gray could replace him, while Yves Bissouma is another option after returning from his club suspension. Ashley Young sits this one out for Everton due his red card against Brighton.

Tottenham Hotspur: Vicario, Udogie, Romero, Porro, van de Ven, Maddison, Sarr, Gray, Son, Solanke, Johnson.

Everton: Pickford, Keane, Tarkowski, Holgate, Mykolenko, McNeil, Harrison, Doucoure, Gueye, Iroegbunam, Calvert-Lewin.

Anything else catch the eye?

Postecoglou won't change his style of play so it bodes well for an open game, with Everton's direct style capable of causing Spurs problems on the break.

Combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals pays 10/11 in a bet builder at Betfred while over 3.5 match goals pays 6/5.

While watching Tottenham's clash with Leicester I was wishing I had bet on corners as Spurs racked up seven inside 20 minutes. They ended up with 13 so that's a market worth exploring here, with over 7.5 Tottenham corners paying 5/6. Backing Tottenham at -4 in that handicap also appeals at 6/5 while over 12 match corners also pays 6/5.

Abdoulaye Doucoure was a big threat for Everton last term so he appeals at 13/8 for an effort on target against a defensive that gives you plenty of chances.

The final fixture of the opening round of Premier League action sees Leicester City lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.

Seven years after one of the most improbable title triumphs of all time, the Foxes fell through the top-flight trapdoor in season 2022-23.

However, under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, Leicester secured promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, as the finished top of last season's English Championship.

The aforementioned Maresca has since been lured to Chelsea, with the Foxes drafting in the experienced Steve Cooper to lead their survival bid.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will be looking to improve on last year’s fifth placed finish in what was manager Ange Postecoglou’s maiden campaign in English football.

Spurs made a flying start to last season under their Aussie manager and they will be hoping to make a similarly fast start this time around.

How the bookies view it: Spurs to go marching to win

Leicester City are big outsiders at 17/4 (Bet 365) to mark their return to the Premier League with a victory, while a point apiece at the King Power is also considered unlikely at 10/3 (William Hill).

Tottenham are odds-on 3/5 favourites on Bet 365 to bank their first three Premier League points of the season at the first attempt on Monday night.

Head to head: Tottenham tend to triumph

Tottenham Hotspur have come out on top in nine of their last 13 Premier League meetings with Leicester City.

However, it’s worth noting that Spurs were crushed 4-1 when they last visited the King Power back in February 2023, with a certain James Madison among the Foxes goalscorers.

Players to watch: Solanke to strike?

After scoring 19 goals for Bournemouth in the Premier League last season, Dominic Solanke will be desperate to make an instant impact when making his Tottenham debut on Monday night. The new Spurs striker is an appealing 6/4 (Bet 365) to fire against the Foxes.

Former Spurs man Harry Winks is likely to be in the thick of the midfield battle and he could be worth considering for a card at 3/1 (Bet 365).

Predicted line-ups

Having joined the club on a free transfer from Fulham over the summer, Bobby Decordova-Reid is expected to be handed his competitive debut for Leicester on Monday night.

Both Destiny Udogie and Richarlison look set to start the season on the treatment table for Tottenham, however big money signing Dominic Solanke could get the nod at the King Power.

Leicester: Hermansen; Justin, Vestergaard, Faes, Kristiansen; Winks, Ndidi; De Cordova-Reid, Fatawu, Mavididi; Daka.

Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Davies; Sarr, Gray, Maddison; Kulusevski, Solanke, Son.

Anything else catch the eye?

Tottenham are too skinny to side with at 8/13 but backing the visitors to emerge victorious in a game that features two or more goals represents value at 4/5 (Bet 365).

A whopping 19 of Spurs’ 20 top-flight victories last season produced two or more match goals, including each of their last 14 league successes.

What's more, Ange Postecoglou’s side posted just seven clean sheets across their 38 premier League games last season, so multiple strikes may be needed if they are to claim top honours at the King Power on Monday night.
