Club’s vice-chairman confirms desire to sign 28-year-old Tottenham star
Galatasaray’s vice-chairman has admitted that the Turkish giants are interested in signing Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.
Hojbjerg’s future has been up in the air for some time now. The arrival of Ange Postecoglou has seen the Danish international go down the pecking order. With him no longer an integral part of their first-team setup and his contract running out in 12 months, the Tottenham midfielder is expected to be on the move this summer.
There is a significant amount of interest in the 28-year-old’s signature from across the globe. Turkish giants Galatasaray are one of the clubs that have been linked with Hojbjerg. They want to maintain their dominance in the Super Lig and believe the Danish star could help their cause. Their vice-chairman İbrahim Hatipoğlu has recently talked about their interest in the player. He has gone public with their pursuit and even mentioned the fact that there is a significant amount of competition for his signature.
While talking to the reports, Hatipoğlu said via CNN Turk: “Højbjerg is a very good player. He has many suitors. He says he wants to decide after seeing all the options. It may take more time than others.”
Hojbjerg didn’t have the best of seasons last time out as he was on the pitch for less than 1,500 minutes despite being involved in 39 matches. Things might not have gone well at club level but he did play every minute of Denmark’s Euro 2024 campaign and his performances suggest that he still has quite a few years left in him.
Multiple top clubs are after the Tottenham midfielder’s signature with him expected to be available for a cut-price fee. The player has made it quite clear that he will look at all the offers available before deciding on his future. As a result, Galatasaray fans will have to wait and see if they do succeed in their pursuit of Hojbjerg.
