Tottenham are looking to sign Chelsea midfield star Conor Gallagher for £40 million this summer.

The North London club are working hard to further strengthen their squad ahead of next season. They want to bring in a world-class midfielder and have a long-standing interest in Chelsea academy graduate Conor Gallagher. They might not have made a move yet but according to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham could soon knock on the Blues’ door as they are hoping to sign the English international for £40 million.

People at the North London club consider the 24-year-old to be an ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play and with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso expected to be on the move, he could be just the perfect signing they need. Gallagher’s future at Chelsea has been uncertain for quite a while now. With his contract running out in 2025, the Blues are looking to cash in on him and want in excess of £50 million for their academy graduate.

With the Euro 2024 now over, he is expected to soon make a decision regarding his future and Tottenham are looking to lure him away. While Chelsea want over £50 million, the North London club are looking to strike a deal for £40 million. They valued him at £35 million last summer and on the back of his excellent 2023/24 campaign, they are willing to go up to £40 million a fee they forked out to bring James Maddison to the club.

Chelsea are aware of the fact that Gallagher could run down his deal and leave for free next season, a situation they want to avoid at all costs. As a result, Tottenham do have a chance of acquiring his services for a lower fee in the coming weeks.

The club has reportedly turned down recent offers and is committed to providing him with the consistent playing opportunities necessary for his development.

His inclusion in the first team signals a bright future and underscores Tottenham’s commitment to nurturing young talent and integrating them into the squad.

Tottenham Hotspur are hopeful that all their players will be in peak condition ahead of the new season.

However, Football London reports that Spurs will be missing left-back Destiny Udogie for their upcoming preseason friendly against Hearts due to his ongoing recovery from an injury.

Udogie, who underwent surgery last season, has not yet achieved full fitness and will continue his rehabilitation process.

As pre-season continues, Tottenham players have returned to training in preparation for their friendly against Hearts.

However, the Italian full-back will not available for the game as he focuses on his recovery, aiming to become fully fit.

Udogie joined Tottenham Hotspur on August 16, 2022, signing a permanent deal worth €20 million until 2027. Following the transfer, he was loaned back to Udinese for the 2022-23 season.

He made his Tottenham debut last season and quickly emerged as one of the best left-backs in the division, showcasing his promise and potential. This led to a lengthy contract extension until 2030.

His impressive first season with Spurs was unfortunately cut short in April 2024 due to surgery on his left quadriceps.

Despite this setback, Udogie’s standout performances earned him a nomination for the Premier League Young Player of the Season Award.

Tottenham Hotspur might face a setback in their quest to secure one of their defensive targets.

Reports indicate that Nottingham Forest are close to finalising a deal for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, who has recently been linked with Spurs.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Forest are nearing an agreement to sign Milenkovic for €12 million.

The 26-year-old Serbian centre-back is reportedly eager to join the Premier League, a move he is said to favour.

Tottenham had identified Milenkovic as a key target, particularly as a potential replacement for Cristian Romero, who has attracted interest from Real Madrid.

Milenkovic’s strong defensive capabilities and extensive experience made him an attractive option for Spurs in their bid to strengthen their backline.

Last season, Milenkovic was a crucial player for Fiorentina, making 50 appearances across all competitions and consistently demonstrating his defensive prowess. (Transfermarkt)

His impressive performances also secured him a spot in Serbia’s squad for UEFA Euro 2024, where he played in all three group-stage matches.

With Nottingham Forest seemingly in the lead to sign Milenkovic, Tottenham may need to consider alternative defensive options.

As the transfer window remains open, Spurs will continue to explore opportunities to reinforce their defence for the upcoming season.

You know when the summer transfer window is ready to heat up at Spurs, the friendlies are about to get underway and so far, we’ve only bought a youngster from Leeds United.

Yes, Archie Gray joined Tottenham Hotspur for a fee in the region of £35 million and is tipped for greatness, but then all we ever hear in respect of youth players is how wonderful they will be. Jam Tomorrow is a phrase endlessly linked with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, and for very good reason.

Speaking of Leeds, Planet Sport believes that the Yorkshire side is still intent on improving their roster ahead of another long season in the Championship and that whilst very happy to have secured the services of Joe Rodon, they also have more than an eye on Oliver Skipp. Skipp, says the source was mentioned in the negotiations for Gray, but the ‘home-grown’ value of the Englishman makes any discussions more complicated for all concerned.

We understand that Spurs are keen to secure a replacement for Skipp before agreeing to any deal, which could see him join Leeds on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

The suggestion now is that Spurs might be more interested in entertaining a proposal. Skipp as a footballer has struggled to do much more than make the bench in N17, which is a factor that cannot be ignored forever. Fans regard Ollie as one of their own, but unfortunately, he’s not a particularly great footballer.

Another factor might well be that Leeds gaffer Daniel Farke knows Skippy from his time at Norwich City, where the somewhat workmanlike atmosphere favoured the 23-year-old.

How serious are the Spurs when it comes to truly upgrading the squad for Ange?

Ange Postecoglou travels to Scotland to play Hearts tomorrow, and then back down to face Queen’s Park Rangers on the 20th, so it seems utterly implausible that Spurs will have any meaningful new signings involved in either game. Sure, Tottenham have signed an 18-year-old prospect in Archie Gray, but this is hardly sufficient given the soon-to-be chronic fixture pile-up heading the cub’s way once the Europa League schedule unfolds.

This leaves just 4 more friendlies, three of which are being held in South East Asia, and finally, the Visit Malta Cup which is to be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

One target that has been doing the rounds for some time is Eberechi Eze, but perhaps due to the Euros 2024, there has been nothing more than speculation. However, renowned transfer guru Fabrizio Romano believes the delay could also be due to how Crystal Palace protect itself.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, the Italian revealed:

“For sure, they appreciate the player, but the real issue is about the release clause, with the main part of the clause being paid in one solution immediately to Crystal Palace.

That’s why it’s not kind of an easy deal on the club side. We know the clauses at Palace are always kind of complicated. We also saw that with Michael Olise in the last year.

But Eze, for sure, is a player on Tottenham’s list. Let’s see if they will be able to make it happen.”

Tottenham’s financial position is a matter of public record, as The Deloitte Money League has the North London club in 8th place. So weeping about lack of funds simply won’t cut it.

Do you feel that Daniel Levy is leaving it late again?

The future of Eberechi Eze will depend on Crystal Palace. There are reports that he has a release clause, so that does kind of take things out of their hands if a club is willing to meet it.

They would have gone into this summer begrudgingly prepared to let one of their crown jewels depart. Michael Olise has already moved on to Bayern Munich, so that will have addressed any financial concerns the club may have had, and the funds raised from his sale will help them bring in their own players.

Eze and Guehi are players in demand according to reports. Will the experience of playing at the European Championships influence their desire to try something different?

Both players have performed well for England. Guehi, he’s had more opportunities and hasn’t really put a foot wrong and Eze looks a handful every time he comes on, so that speaks well of his ability and character as well.

In terms of a preference for a club, Eze is a London boy, so perhaps that gives an advantage to the likes of Arsenal or Spurs if they are indeed interested in him. I think he’s definitely good enough to play for one of the bigger clubs in the league, no disrespect to Palace.
