Arne Slot was speaking before Liverpool's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur

Arne Slot was left more than impressed by the welcome his Liverpool side received at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Thousands of Reds supporters took to the streets to welcome their side ahead of their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Slot’s side know that just a point against Spurs would be enough to secure the title. As a result, Anfield is gearing up for a party.

And Reds supporters certainly made their voices heard as their side arrived, with red smoke also filling the air as the Liverpool team bus made its way along Anfield Road before heading into the ground.

Reacting to the scenes, Slot told Sky Sports: "That was impressive. We felt the support throughout the whole season. Even before the game it was louder - more than normal.

"There is a job to do for us. We have to be ready for Tottenham. We know we need one point from the five games we play. We do know the responsibility we have.

"The fans are here and hopefully to see a team that can do everything they can to get the point over the line."

On the game, the Dutchman added: "What is required is they have to work really hard. Tottenham is a team that runs a lot. If you're not intense and not ready for them they can hurt you a lot.

"Fans can play a big part in this. The louder they are the more energy the players will have."

Writing in the matchday programme, Vrigil van Dijk called on Liverpool's supporters to create a sea of red and a wall of noise.

He said: “One more push. One more job to be done. One more big effort needed, from each and every one of us. One more.

“All season long I have been speaking about the need to focus only on the next game, the next challenge. That mindset has been so important for us as we have chased our goals; we deal with what’s there in front of us rather than getting carried away with the bigger picture, with the outside noise.

“Sunday, of course, is going to be a little more difficult in that respect. Because while we are still going to be concentrating on the task in front of us, which is a tough game against Tottenham Hotspur, we also know what the day means for everyone associated with the club.

“And, well, it means everything.

“To win the Premier League is special, however and wherever you do it. But to do it at Anfield, in front of the most incredible supporters in the world? That’s something else entirely. It’s our dream, it’s your dream, and our aim on Sunday is to make sure that dream comes true."

Before he added: “Nothing has been given to us, and I don’t expect that to change on Sunday.

“It is clear that Tottenham are not where they want or expect to be in terms of their own league position, but that doesn’t matter on the day. I am expecting a very tough game against a very talented team. They too have a job to do, remember.

“We are planning to be at our best, and we need you guys to be at yours too. I have spoken many times about the importance of Anfield. It really can make the difference and I can’t wait to see, hear and feel you all on Sunday. You all have a part to play.

“So be loud and be proud. Get to the stadium early and give us your support. Make the place a sea of red, a wall of noise. Sing your hearts out and let’s do this together. One more push. One more.”
