A group of Arsenal supporters decided to take a unique approach to raise their voice against the club’s sponsorship deal with Visit Rwanda by mocking Tottenham Hotspur.
The controversy surrounds Arsenal’s shirt-sleeve agreement with Visit Rwanda, which is part of the Rwanda Development Board governmental body.
According to The Daily Mail, the deal is worth £10million-a-year was first signed in 2018 and extended by the Gunners back in 2021.
However, the deal is a controversial one, with the Democratic Republic of Congo government writing a letter to Arsenal owners asking that they end the ‘blood-stained sponsorship deal’.
This was after Rwanda-backed rebel group M23 invaded DRC territory Goma, with the invasion reportedly leading to 3000 casualties.
Visit Tottenham campaign launched by Arsenal fans
The Arsenal fan group, Gunners For Peace, decided to take a satirical approach to raising their voice against the sponsorship.
They unveiled a ‘Visit Tottenham’ billboard outside the Emirates Stadium to make the point that the club’s supporters would rather visit their arch-rivals than continue to support the Rwandan regime.

The billboard reads: “Arsenal is a great club. We have standards, which is why Visit Rwanda needs to end. This is the same regime that’s funding a brutal militia with thousands of victims in Eastern Congo. We think anything – literally anything – would be better than Visit Rwanda. Even Tottenham.”
Spurs fans can have the last laugh this season
This is the sort of cause that both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal fans can come together on, putting their rivalries aside.
However, as far as the on-pitch rivalry is concerned, Spurs can still have the last laugh as they can end the season with silverware while the Gunners can still end it empty-handed.
