Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is under increasing pressure after a disappointing season, and Sky Sports presenter Jamie Carragher believes he will be sacked if he loses to Eintracht Frankfurt this week.

Spurs are gearing up for their biggest game of the season so far as they prepare to face Frankfurt in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie. Postecoglou's side drew 1-1 in the opening fixture at home, meaning they must travel to Germany and win on the night to advance into the next round.

It's far from guaranteed that Spurs will make it through, which will undoubtedly heap even more pressure on the Australian manager. Speculation surrounding his future is rife at the moment after they lost to Wolves at the weekend in the Premier League, and a defeat in Frankfurt this week could spell the end of his tenure.

Jamie Carragher: Postecoglou Could be Sacked After Frankfurt

The Tottenham boss is under pressure

Speaking live on Sky Sports, Carragher has suggested that he thinks Tottenham can't go on any longer after a string of poor performances this season. The former Liverpool defender claims that if Spurs are eliminated by Frankfurt in the Europa League, then that will be the end for Postecoglou.

"It can't go on any longer, and I think if they go out to Eintracht Frankfurt in the cup, it probably would be a shake hands and move on to something different for both parties in terms of the manager and the club."

Winning the Europa League would be fantastic for Tottenham after going through a significant trophy drought, and the supporters will undoubtedly be desperate to see their side lift some silverware. Despite it being an impressive achievement if they pull it off, Postecoglou simply hasn't delivered in the Premier League this season, which is arguably the most important competition.

Losing in Europe this week would mean they end another campaign without a trophy, and it would be far from a surprise to see Postecoglou relieved of his duties.
