Aston Villa's seven-match unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end after losing 4-1 to Tottenham in the capital.
Morgan Rogers opened the scoring in the 32nd minute after Spurs failed to deal with a set-piece, before Brennan Johnson equalised early in the second half. Dominic Solanke then completed the comeback for the hosts with 15 minutes left to play and then doubled his tally for the afternoon to extend Spurs' lead shortly after. There was enough to time for James Maddison to score a free-kick in added time.
Tottenham gradually took control in the first 30 minutes of the match, but failed to test Emi Martinez despite their territory in the Villa half. The hosts were warned of Villa’s threat down the other end when Amadou Onana’s header came off the post, before Guglielmo Vicario turned the ball around the corner for another corner.

Digne’s ball into the box was flicked on by Pedro Porro, before Rodrigo Bentancur and goalkeeper Vicario both failed to clear it, allowing Rogers to turn in from close range. After opening the scoring, the 22-year-old nearly provided Ollie Watkins with a chance to double the lead, but the striker dragged his effort wide with his left foot.
Spurs came out for the start of the second half a completely different team and levelled the game up in the 52nd minute through Johnson, who converted from Son Heung-min’s cross. Emi Martinez then thwarted Solanke after he fired at goal from inside the box just minutes later.
Solanke wouldn't be prevented again after he dinked the ball over Martinez after being played through by Dejan Kulusevski. He then scored Spurs' third by turning in Richarlison's cross, before Maddison scored a free-kick in the sixth minute of added time.
Villa will now prepare for their fourth Champions League opening phase clash at Club Brugge on Wednesday night, before they face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday (8pm).
Player ratings
Emi Martinez
Martinez didn't have a save to make in the first half, but after a quick start to the second period by Tottenham, he was a busy man after the break and conceded four. 5
Matty Cash
Cash started his fourth Premier League game in a row this afternoon. He didn't give Son Heung-min an inch in the first half, but had to come off after picking up a knock before the hour mark. 6
Ezri Konsa
Konsa was strong in and out of possession in the first half, before he shuffled over to right-back after Cash came off for the final 30 minutes of the game. He was the deepest defender when Kulusevski played the ball through for Solanke to give Spurs the lead and struggled as the hosts turned it on. 5
Pau Torres
Spurs' third goal came after Torres gave possession away when trying to play out from the back. A difficult afternoon for Torres. 4
Lucas Digne
Digne's corner led to Villa's opener and he had put in a couple of searching deliveries before then. He had a difficult job dealing with Johnson, who is bang in form at the minute. 6
Amadou Onana
Onana was effective alongside Youri Tielemans for the first hour of the match, eating up ground and nipping in to win the ball back. But Villa then became overwhelmed. This was the third time Onana played the full 90 minutes of a league game this season. 5
Youri Tielemans
Tielemans was key in build-up. He was happy to take the ball when surrounded by Spurs players, but didn't panic. He oozes class in the middle of the park. 6
John McGinn
McGinn battled well in the first half and eased pressure off the Villa defence by shielding the ball. He won five ground duels and misplaced only two of the 24 passes he attempted. 6
Jacob Ramsey
Ramsey was positive when he received the ball out on the left and was looking to commit his markers before jinking inside and combining with a teammate. He tracked back well and helped Digne out on the left side, but appeared to tire before coming off in the 80th minute. 6
Morgan Rogers
Rogers scored his third league goal of the season, slamming the ball in from just a few yards out when Guglielmo Vicario failed to deal with Digne's corner, which was flicked on at the near post. He then presented Watkins with the chance to extend Villa's lead, but missed the target. He was replaced after picking up a knock, but wanted to continue. 7
Ollie Watkins
Tottenham defender Cristian Romero dealt with Watkins well, but the Villa forward will feel he should have done better after being slipped in by Rogers before the break. He also had a good chance in the opening minutes after Digne picked him out in the box early on. 5
