Tottenham Hotspur have been knocked out of the League Cup at the semi-final stage as Liverpool made light work of Spurs at Anfield on Thursday night.
Spurs went to Anfield holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg and the expectation was that they’d put up a fight in trying to get over the line.
However, Tottenham ended up losing 4-0 on the night as an inspired Liverpool cruised into the League Cup final at Spurs’ expense.
The game also saw two debuts for Spurs as Kevin Danso started the match and fellow winter signing Mathys Tel came off the bench.
The day after the match, Danso sent a heartfelt message to the Tottenham fanbase as he shared his honest verdict on the current Spurs team.
Kevin Danso ‘truly’ believes in Tottenham
Danso, taking to Instagram, said he was proud to have worn the Tottenham shirt for the first time on Thursday night.
And though he acknowledged that Spurs lost to a strong side, he said he fully believes in the team and what’s to come from the Lilywhites.
“Yesterday marked my debut for Tottenham Hotspur in the cup,” began Danso.
“And though we fell short against a strong side, I couldn’t be prouder to have worn this shirt for the first time.
“The loss stings, but I truly believe in this team and our journey ahead. I want to thank everyone at the club, and every single fan for the support!”
“Onwards and upwards. COYS.”
Tel also took to Instagram after the game with a message for Tottenham fans, with the caption: “Head up!”
How Danso fared in Tottenham debut
Danso did well on his Spurs debut as he looked to carry the ball out of defence whenever possible and blocking numerous efforts.
Danso blocked three efforts, weighed in with two tackles, and made three clearances.
He also won all three of his ground duels and one of his three aerial duels, and no Liverpool player managed to dribble past him.
All in all, Danso looks like an inspired signing and it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to fare for Spurs.
Tottenham’s next match is on Sunday when they head to Aston Villa for their FA Cup fourth-round tie, which kicks off at 5:35pm GMT.
