Spurs set to inadvertently boost Premier League rivals bank balance amid Bournemouth interest
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keen to make further progress in their pursuit of Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke, but their movements are also being closely followed by Premier League rivals Liverpool who could receive an unexpected cash windfall from the striker’s sale.
Spurs have long been linked with an interest in the 26-year-old Englishman who bagged 21 goals across all competitions last campaign but they are set to face a huge financial dilemma with the Cherries insisting that their star man will only depart the club if his £65 million release clause - which can only be triggered by certain clubs - is met.

Not only that but Liverpool are set to receive a 20 per cent cut of any profit the Cherries make from an onward transfer, further complicating Spurs’ chase for the star. As it stands, such a figure would be close to £13m.
Solanke spent two seasons at Anfield from 2017-2019, before moving to the south coast where he has gone on to make nearly 200 league appearances for the Cherries.
According to the latest reports from The Telegraph, Spurs are hopeful of ramping up their hunt for Solanke - who has also been of interest to his former club Chelsea - and the 26-year-old is said to ‘look favourably’ on joining one of the league’s biggest clubs. TEAMtalk has reported that talks have also been held between Spurs and Solanke’s camp.
The N17 head coach Ange Postecoglou has made no secret of the fact that he wishes to improve his squad’s striking options. While Heung-min Son top-scored for the club last campaign, scoring 17 goals, the Australian manager is hoping to bring in another forward option so Son can be moved back to the left, where he is arguably more effective. However, it remains unlikely that they would be willing to offer up a club-record fee for the Cherries ace.

Speaking during the club’s pre-season tour of South Korea, Postecoglou said: “It's still the area of the park we're really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that's a focus for us. Looking forward to finishing things up in a positive manner and hopefully a good way to finish it off.”
However, Bournemouth have no intention of making Solanke’s potential sale easy for his prospective buyers with the club’s chief even admitting he believes the Englishman will remain at the Vitality Stadium next summer.
Speaking in Santa Barbara, Bournemouth owner Bill Foley also recently stated: "I believe Dom is going to be with us this coming year. He has a release clause, which is very expensive. "We shouldn't reveal anything about the contract, but that area [reported £65m] sounds roughly correct. I guess if someone comes for him, we are going to have to replace him. We have two or three candidates that we have lined up, but I believe Dom will be here next year - and I believe he is going to score 21 or 22 goals.”
