Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou will be sacked regardless of whether he wins the Europa League this season, presenter Richard Keys has claimed.
Daniel Levy is in a tricky position where Postecoglou is struggling to get a tune out of his Tottenham side in recent months, but the north London outfit are performing well in Europe. Spurs have advanced into the quarter-final of the Europa League and will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg later this week.
Results in the Premier League have been disastrous, and there's no doubt Postecoglou is under significant pressure to try and save his job. Winning the Europa League would slightly gloss over a dreadful campaign, but there's a strong chance it won't keep Postecoglou in north London.
Richard Keys: Postecoglou is 'Gone'
The Tottenham boss is under pressure
Writing in his blog, presenter Keys has claimed that Postecoglou is 'gone', even if he wins the Europa League this season. Keys adds that Postecoglou 'knows he's toast' after 'picking a fight' with supporters against Chelsea...
"Ange is a dead man walking. He picked a fight with Tottenham fans during the recent Chelsea game. Bad call Ange. You just can’t do that.
He’s gone - even if he wins the Europa League. I backed him half way through the season but I’ve changed my mind. I’m tired of listening to him mumble at the floor explaining ‘it’s what we are mate’. He knows he’s toast. Perhaps it’s why he doubled down at Wolves?"
It's difficult to see Postecoglou surviving even if his side lifts the Europa League this season. If Spurs were struggling but still in contention for the European places, perhaps sat in mid-table, then the Australian manager might have a chance to save his job. However, being closer to the relegation zone than the top four is undoubtedly a disastrous situation for a club like Tottenham to be in.
The worrying thing for Postecoglou is that Daniel Levy is already eyeing potential candidates to replace the experienced manager. GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is an option for the north London club, and they've already made contact ahead of a potential move.
