Transfer ‘insider’ Fabrizio Romano has claimed Tottenham are closing in on a deal to offload Bryan Gil to Champions League-bound Girona. Romano tweeted: “More on Bryan Gil story. Documents are being prepared for Spurs to extend his contract and include €15m release clause at THFC. Understand Bryan’s expected to sign his contract and then join Girona on loan on Monday, plan clear. Here we go, confirmed.”
With Gil having a £12.6million release clause in his new deal, Spurs are opening the door to a future deal, but a loan deal will take place first, with the Spaniard set for Champions League football in Catalonia this season. The 23-year-old has only racked up 24 Premier League appearances for Spurs so far.
Chelsea ‘eye’ Alvarez
Arsenal and Chelsea are being linked with a move for Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez. According to TEAMtalk, the Blues have identified the Argentinian as a possible target as they look to strengthen their front line, though it’s not clear whether City or Alvarez will consider a move.
PSG are also said to be interested, although City are reportedly asking for as much as £77million. Arsenal are also said to be interested, but it seems unlikely they will pay quite so much for a player who is not an out-and-out striker.

Maresca on Celtic defeat
Chelsea boss Maresca has been speaking after his side’s heavy defeat to Celtic in the USA. “Off the ball we need to improve things,” Maresca said. “You can see sometimes we confuse when we need to play short and when we need to play a little bit longer but that is part of the process. We maintained a high line but when the ball is not under pressure, you need to drop … We are still confusing some things on the ball and off the ball. It is normal in this moment when we are trying to do something new.”
He added: “As we said, the result is always important. For us, we need to analyse the game in general. I think on the ball, the team were 10 times better than in the game against Wrexham and that is important because we can see the amount of chances we created first half and second half. The result is always important but in this moment we need to judge and analyse different things. On the ball we created chances, off the ball we probably conceded too much and that is something we need to improve.”
