Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Marc Guehi just got a lot harder as two of their Premier League rivals have now leapfrogged them in the race to sign the Crystal Palace man.

It was widely reported that Tottenham had a £70m offer turned down for Marc Guehi during the January window, and the Lilywhites have been backed to try again for the Crystal Palace star this summer.

The 24-year-old enters the final year of his deal at Selhurst Park this June, and Ange Postecoglou has reportedly made Guehi one of his priority summer targets.

In fact, some sources have even claimed over recent weeks that Tottenham see Guehi as the ideal option to replace Cristian Romero, whose future at N17 is in doubt.

Chelsea and Liverpool enter the race to sign Marc Guehi

TBR Football have now claimed that Chelsea and Liverpool are both keen on securing the Palace star’s signature and have now emerged as the favourites to land him this summer.

The Reds enquired about the centre-back last summer as well, but they felt the timing was not right on that occasion. Arne Slot’s men are now ‘firm contenders’ to sign Guehi at the end of the season.

Chelsea are also keen on bringing the England international back to Stamford Bridge, four years on from selling him to the Eagles.

The outlet adds that while Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa ‘appreciate’ Marc Guehi, they are ‘quite unlikely’ to beat Liverpool and Chelsea to the defender.

Who are the other centre-backs on Tottenham’s radar?

With reports suggesting that Romero is keen on leaving Tottenham this summer, one would expect Spurs to be in for a marquee name, who can slot straight into their lineup alongside Micky van de Ven.

It has been suggested over recent days that apart from Marc Guehi, Jonathan Tah, Dean Huijsen, and Jarrad Branthwaite are other potential Romero replacements on Tottenham’s radar.
