Tottenham have reached an agreement to bring Yang Min-hyeok from his club in South Korea next month, ahead of his planned move in January, according to a report on Football.London.
The South Korean was signed in the summer, but part of the deal allowed him to remain in South Korea until the winter transfer window. However, it's now reported that he will join earlier than expected, in December, although there will be no rush for him to join the team right away.
The idea is for him to have enough time to adapt and prepare for the second half of the season.Spurs agreed a £3.3million deal with the South Korean club for his signature, and the figure is widely reported to be a record deal for a player coming from the K-League.
He will also have the support of the club’s captain, Son Heung-min, who is likely to help him settle in.Yang has been impressive since signing for Tottenham, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists in 37 K-League matches while playing on either the left or right wing.
He could be the difference in a team that has been incredibly inconsistent. Spurs have scored 23 league goals, which is more than any other team in the league, but they are currently 10th in the table.
The problem seems to be their inconsistency against lower-ranked teams. While they’ve performed well against top sides, as seen in their wins against Manchester City and Aston Villa, they could only draw against Leicester on the opening day of the Premier League.
They also threw away a two-goal lead against Brighton, lost to a previously winless Crystal Palace, and suffered a defeat to Ipswich Town.
Postecoglou could certainly use some firepower up front, and the fact that Yang will join earlier than expected should help him adapt and potentially be ready for game time as soon as possible.
