Tottenham are eyeing a shrewd attacking reinforcement as Dominic Calvert-Lewin emerges as a free transfer target following a rejected contract offer from Everton.

It has been an abysmal campaign for Tottenham Hotspur in every possible way this season. The Lilywhites are sitting in 16th and have lost 19 of their 34 matches in the Premier League.

Indeed, there is a need for a change, and Tottenham would have to spend big if they are to get back to competing with some of the Premier League’s elite.

Several positions could do with more options and extra depth. However, recent reports now suggest that the north London club could add quality to their attack without having to splash the cash.

Tottenham want Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer

According to Fichajes, Spurs are reportedly interested in signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer, with the English forward approaching the end of his contract at Goodison Park.

Calvert-Lewin is said to have turned down Everton’s latest offer of a new deal, and Spurs are keeping close tabs on the situation ahead of the summer window.

The 26-year-old has struggled for consistency in recent seasons, mainly due to recurring injuries, but there’s no denying his ability when fit, and a free transfer deal could tempt Tottenham into action.

Spurs weighing risk-reward of Calvert-Lewin move

Of course, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is Premier League proven and he would be great depth. But there are asterisks as to whether the 26-year-old would be open to making a move to Spurs and become second fiddle to Dominic Solanke – a player Tottenham signed just last season.

Calvert-Lewin has had his fitness struggles and given Spurs’ record of injuries this campaign, question marks remain as to whether a move for a player with an injury record like his would be a smart piece of business, especially when Richarlison has a similar problem.

While there is a chance that the striker signs for Tottenham on a free, Everton are expected to have a busy summer, as a host of players, alongside Calvert-Lewin, are set to be out of contract.

As a result, there is a good chance they will make another play to try and tie him down to a new deal.
