Tottenham Hotspur are going to carefully consider a revamp by pondering the potential exit of Son Heung-min, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

Spurs are going through a tricky period and have seen a lack of success under Daniel Levy's ownership. Despite the north London outfit regularly looking to bring in new additions, it's safe to say it's not worked out so far, and a complete revamp could be necessary to steer them in the right direction.

After such a disappointing season, the majority of the squad can have no complaints if Spurs look to bring in new additions and replace them. Tottenham currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League table and were knocked out of the EFL and FA Cup last week.

Tottenham Considering Son Heung-Min Sale

There is an openness to him leaving

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Tottenham are going to carefully consider a squad revamp by pondering the exit of South Korean forward Son. Despite being a club icon and a loyal servant to Spurs over the years, sources are indicating that there is an openness to him leaving.

Son recently had his contract extended by another year, but with Spurs moving into a new era, they now have some big decisions to make in attack. Richarlison's future is also in doubt, Timo Werner could depart, and a decision must be made on Mathys Tel's option to buy. Richarlison, Werner and Son earn combined around £445k-a-week, so they'd be saving a hefty amount on wages.

The decision to offload Son will undoubtedly be the biggest of them all and will depend on the level of interest in the experienced forward. GIVEMESPORT sources understand that there has been some genuine interest from Saudi Arabia and if that becomes more concrete, it could be something they carefully consider, whereas in the past it was unthinkable.

Jamie Donley Highly Regarded at Tottenham

Yank mon-Hyeok will be analysed in summer

Tottenham will welcome youngster Jamie Donley into the squad for pre-season after his loan with Leyton Orient to determine whether he can make his mark next season. Donley is held in high regard within the club and will have a chance to impress later this year.

Loaned out Yank mon-Hyeok will also be assessed to decide what is best for him in terms of his next step, and the same applies to Alejo Veliz. Manor Solomon will most likely be allowed to move on if the opportunity arises permanently after his loan spell with Leeds United.

Description

Today, I have provided an update on Ange Postecoglou's future after Tottenham Hotspur lost again to Aston Villa in the FA Cup - Manchester United's plans to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window, and how Aston Villa and Unai Emery are feeling about Marcus Rashford after a week at the club.

Be sure to tell your friends to sign up for our newsletter, so they can also have exclusive updates landing in their inbox three days a week - every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Here we go!

How important is next weekend's match against Manchester United for Postecoglou's future after Tottenham lose again?

At the moment, there are still no indications of changes at Spurs. Of course no one is happy with current situation but there is no indication of imminent changes. Let's see in the next days and after the next games.

Manchester United continue to be linked with Gyokeres and Osimhen - are they realistic striker targets for the summer?

Nothing has been decided yet in terms of names, it's too early. It's also important to understand which competition Man United will play (in terms of European football) also to understand the budget.

For sure, internally the plan is to bring in a new striker in the summer.

How are Aston Villa and Unai Emery feeling about Marcus Rashford in the early days after his move?

Very happy. Good attitude, good training, now of course it will take some time to be back in good form and shape - but a very good impact.

Tottenham Contract Ready for 'Genius' Postecoglou Replacement, Paratici Pushing

Tottenham Hotspur may switch their managerial focus to a shock target in the form of Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi, according to reports - amid Ange Postecoglou's poor form in the capital seeing them slip as far down as 16th in the Premier League table in recent weeks.

Spurs' fifth-placed finish last season ensured Europa League football in north London, and they were extremely close to securing Champions League games by finishing just two points behind Aston Villa in the top-flight. But this season has been an entirely different story; injuries have wreaked havoc on their campaign, and that has seen Tottenham flounder in the bottom half of the table, alongside being knocked out of both domestic cup competitions this season.

As a result, new managers have been linked - but despite flying high in the Champions League and Serie A, a shock name has appeared in Inzaghi - who is thought to have an offer from Daniel Levy amid Postecoglou's torrid second season.

The report from Inter Live states that Inter's heavy 3-0 loss to Fiorentina on Thursday has massively put the pressure on Inzaghi, with the Italian being accused of selecting a poor starting XI in Florence alongside some questionable substitutions.

That saw the players criticised for not having enough hunger or determination to close the gap on Serie A leaders Napoli - and that means Inzaghi could be fired by the club's owners despite talk of extending his contract not so long ago after winning last season's Scudetto, with Inzaghi being dubbed a 'genius' by Thierry Henry in the process.

As a result, Tottenham could convince Inzaghi to come to the club, with Fabio Paratici - who remains an external consultant for the club despite his part in the scandal that rocked Juventus - aiming to convince Levy to focus on Inzaghi, with a rich contract and heavy influence for the Italian to stamp his mark in north London 'being readied'.

Agbonlahor Drops Tottenham Claim on Pochettino Amid Postecoglou Doubts

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is under heavy pressure after yet another defeat over the weekend. Speaking on talkSPORT, Gabby Agbonlahor and Majestic have discussed the prospect of Mauricio Pochettino returning as manager.

Spurs were knocked out of two competitions in a matter of days last week, losing in the EFL Cup semi-final to Liverpool before suffering a 2-1 defeat away to Aston Villa in the FA Cup. The north London outfit remain competing in the Europa League, while they also struggle near the bottom of the Premier League table.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Majestic and Agbonlahor have discussed Pochettino's love for Spurs, hinting that he could make a return. Majestic said...

"Go and get Poch. A man that I saw crying his eyes out on an interview saying that he wants to win something with Spurs. That man loves the football club."

In reply, Agbonlahor admitted that he's heard that Pochettino is 'in love' with Spurs...

"I've heard that, Alan Brazil said that. Alan Brazil spoke to him, he loves Spurs."

Tottenham currently find themselves sitting in 14th place in the Premier League table, closer to the relegation zone than the Champions League places. It's been a disaster campaign, and Postecoglou must be feeling the pressure with fans becoming more and more restless.

The Australian manager does have the excuse of an injury situation that doesn't seem to be getting any better. Spurs currently have a list of players on the treatment table that would make a competent starting XI in the Premier League, with Postecoglou forced to play a host of young players every single week.

The return of Pochettino in the dugout would be somewhat of a fairytale, but he's only recently taken up a role with the USA national team. GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed earlier in the year that it would be 'unlikely' to see Pochettino return to the club.

Postecoglou appears to be hanging on for now and it's no surprise considering the injury troubles, but there's no doubt that he will need to turn things around quickly.

Tottenham Want to Sign 'Incredible' Premier League Star in the Summer

Tottenham have reportedly identified Crystal Palace talent Adam Wharton as a transfer target as part of their long-term plans, according to Fichajes.

It follows Spurs' recent pursuits of highly-touted youngsters, including the likes of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert, as the North Londoners look to bullet-proof the future of the squad.

Wharton emerged as one of the best Under-21 English players on the planet in 2024, after his performances earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate's national squad for the Euros 2024. He has missed much of this term due to injury, but he still remains one of the more sought after midfielders in the division.

Tottenham Eyeing Move for Palace Ace Wharton

The 21-year-old made his senior England debut last year

Per the report from Fichajes, Tottenham are looking to bolster in midfield with Crystal Palace star Wharton on their radar. The Englishman arrived at Selhurst Park just over a year ago, and his current deal is set to expire in 2029, meaning the Eagles are in no rush to part ways yet.

Moreover, the player has attracted plenty of suitors in the upper echelons of the table as well. Arsenal have held talks regarding a potential move, while Manchester City had identified Wharton as a replacement for the injured Rodri last summer, as revealed exclusively by GIVEMESPORT.

A groin surgery previously left Wharton sidelined since October, but he recently returned to full fitness, making a cameo appearance in Palace's 2-0 victory over Manchester United.

Despite his young age, Wharton, previously dubbed "incredible", has been a key player in Oliver Glasner's side since his arrival. Such maturity and technical security could massively benefit Tottenham's squad, which has lacked a backbone at times this season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou faces an uncertain period ahead, after it was revealed exclusively by GIVEMESPORT that the Greek-Australian custodian was on thin ice, following poor performances so far this term.

Jamie O'Hara Says 'It's Time to Go' for Postecoglou at Tottenham

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Jamie O'Hara has joined the calls for Tottenham Hotspur to sack Ange Postecoglou after yet another defeat this season, this time coming against Aston Villa on Sunday evening - with the former Spurs midfielder telling the Australian tactician that it is 'time to go' after 18 months in the role.

Tottenham only won their first Premier League game in eight outings against Brentford last weekend, but their poor run of form continued abruptly in the FA Cup with a loss to Villa, which seemed a formality after going 1-0 down inside a minute in the West Midlands. And after being beaten 2-1 - with only a stoppage-time consolation giving them a glimmer of hope - O'Hara thinks that Postecoglou has run his race, with opposition manager Unai Emery being 'on another planet' to the former Celtic boss.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter) after the cup defeat, O'Hara said:

"It’s time to go now Ange is out of his depth, Emery is on a different planet compared to him and his players bopped us off the park should of (sic) been 5, we’re like (a) reserve team playing in academy games that don’t matter, it’s crazy."

Postecoglou had a decent first season in Tottenham colours, finishing fifth in the Premier League with 20 wins to his name - but this season has been catastrophically poor. They had half a chance of silverware having won their League Cup semi-final first leg clash against Liverpool, but squandered that by some margin with a 4-0 loss in the return fixture - and now that they have exited the FA Cup, only Europa League success is going to save their season.

The Australian made a huge point of always winning trophies in his second season at clubs throughout his career, but with three of those competitions now down the drain, there is huge pressure on him to remain in the post, despite undergoing an injury crisis.

Aston Villa 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings and Match Highlights

Description

Aston Villa knocked Tottenham out of the FA Cup, with a 2-1 victory putting more pressure on Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou. Spurs got off to a dreadful start. Morgan Rogers ran through the midfield and put through Jacob Ramsey, who fired in to put Villa one up. This did nothing to bolster Tottenham's brittle confidence.

After 20 minutes, it was one-way traffic. Then, out of nowhere, Son was given a great chance from six yards out, but he was denied by Martinez. This was an isolated attack. With half an hour played, Villa would have been disappointed not to have been further ahead.

Spurs reacted well in the second-half. There appeared to be more players wanting to get on to the ball, as well as make tackles and disrupt Villa's play. Yet the best opening chance of the second period fell to Jacob Ramsey, but Kinsky stood tall to deny him. It was Villa who got the second goal. Bailey and Malen combined to square across the box and Rogers was first to react to make it 2-0. Spurs showed some heart, pulling a goal back in injury time from Mathys Tel, but it was all too late to prevent them going out of the FA Cup.

Match Highlights

Aston Villa Player Ratings

Emiliano Martinez - 7/10

Having had a largely quiet first half, he was on hand to deny Son from point-blank range.

Andres Garcia - 6/10

Showed his athleticism by making some lung-busting runs forward.

Ezri Konsa - 6/10

Given the performance of Villa and their opponents, the defender was not really put to the test. An injury saw him come off after 27 minutes.

Boubacar Kamara - 6/10

Slotted in well into the back four to protect Villa's goal.

Lucas Digne - 6/10

Competent performance without setting the world on fire.

John McGinn - 6.5/10

Played some clever passes, one in particular that lured Bergvall in to make a foul and get booked.

Youri Tielenmans - 6.5/10

Found himself on the ball a lot in the first half and may have expected to have done better when he burst through midfield and shot wide.

Leon Bailey - 6/10Played reasonably well and worked well as a foil for the excellent Rogers.

Morgan Rogers - 8/10

Showed his quality right from kick off by storming through the Spurs midfield and creating Villa's opening minute goal. Looked like the best player on the pitch at times.

Jacob Ramsey - 7/10

Gave Villa a dream start by putting them 1-0 in the first minute. Had further opportunities to score but did not take them.

Donyell Malen - 6/10

Linked up well to help create Villa's second goal and his all-round play was quite good.

SUB - Lamare Bogarde - 6/10

Brought on for the injured Konsa after 27 minutes.

SUB - Marcus Rashford - 6/10

Brought on with 25 minutes to go.

SUB - Marco Asensio - 6/10

Brought on for the injured Konsa after 27 minutes.

SUB - Ian Maatsen - 5/10

Brought on too late to make an impact.

Tottenham Player Ratings

Antonin Kinsky - 6.5/10

Got off to a dreadful start as he made a hash of Ramsey's first-minute effort. Recovered to make several key saves.

Pedro Porro - 6/10

Not able to get forward anywhere near as much as he would have liked, to put his trademark crosses in.

Kevin Danso - 6/10

Did what he could to fit into the team, but ended up missing a very presentable chance.

Archie Gray - 6/10

A tough evening for the youngster, who is learning the hard way in the current run of Spurs form.

Djed Spence - 6.5/10

Had to be vigilant, making several vital interceptions.

Rodrigo Bentancur - 6/10

Struggled to stop Morgan Rogers at times and was booked for his troubles.

Lucas Bergvall - 6/10

Does look like a great prospect, but was unable to fully influence the game.

Mikey Moore - 6.5/10

Put in a great cross for Son in the first half. Could perhaps count himself unfortunate coming off at half-time.

Dejan Kulusevski - 5/10

Given his talent, not in the game anywhere near enough for Spurs to get a result.

Son Heung-Min - 4/10

Largely absent in the first half as Spurs were overrun. When he did get an opportunity, he failed to convert from six yards.

Mathys Tel - 6/10

Showed plenty of neat touches, but he faded in the second half until finishing well in the first of five minutes of injury time.

SUB - Yves Bissouma - 6/10

Brought on at half-time, and although Spurs improved, he wasn't able to do enough to help Spurs back into the game.

SUB - Pape Sarr - 5/10

Unable to make any real impact after coming off the bench.

Man of the Match

Morgan Rogers

Morgan Rogers was the best player on the pitch. Demonstrating athleticism, strength and vision, it was his bursting run that created the opening goal. Then, as Spurs looked to get a foothold into the game, it was Rogers who reacted in the Spurs box first to put Villa 2-0 up.

With 48 games now under his belt in his Villa career, he now looks like the best player in a very good side. Continued performances in this vein will surely see him become a regular in the England squad. Perhaps too, Villa can drive on and end the season with silverware.

Tottenham Want to Sign 'Phenomenal' £84m Star for Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur are still looking to add stars to their squad despite Ange Postecoglou's poor second season as gaffer, with the Lilywhites reportedly having a 'chance' of moving for Palmeiras star Richard Rios if the Aussie is still in charge come the summer - but his huge release clause could prove to be a problem.

Tottenham's recent win over Brentford in the Premier League propelled them to 14th, taking them just 10 points clear of the relegation zone - and that has issued a cause for concern surrounding Postecoglou's future. But if he does remain in charge, Daniel Levy could look to back him with the signing of Rios, even with the Colombia star having an £84million release clause in Brazil.

Report: Tottenham 'Could Make Move' For Richard Rios

The midfielder could be just what Ange Postecoglou needs

The report by CaughtOffside states that there is a chance that Tottenham will make a move for Rios if Postecoglou is still in charge over the summer transfer window.

Despite the Australian gaffer's woes so far this season, the tactician remains in the job and if he can remain in the post until the summer, Tottenham will still be considered as an option for the Colombian star - despite having a reported €100million (£84million) release clause at Palmeiras.

CaughtOffside sources have stated that West Ham United and Nottingham Forest could also make a move as they are closely monitoring developments on Rios' future, but Tottenham could be ready to make a move in the summer transfer window - although they won't be willing to pay that release clause figure, which would be their record fee.

Tottenham were thought to be determined to land Rios in January, but they didn't develop beyond initial talks, with Palmeiras holding out for the full amount written into his contract, and with that in mind, potential player-plus-cash deals may have to be considered if Rios is to move to north London come the end of the season.

That would be a difficult deal to do, and Tottenham will have their work cut out - but the 24-year-old would add flair and panache if he was to move to the Premier League.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Richard Rios has two goals in 19 caps for Colombia.

Rios began his career playing futsal, only joining Flamengo's association football team as a 19-year-old, and having progressed through their youth ranks prior to a move to Serie B side Guarani, it's been at Palmeiras where he's been at his best, being labelled 'phenomenal' with nine goals in 107 games from midfield.

£200,000-p/w Star's Tottenham Career Surely Over After Postecoglou Decision

Description

Timo Werner's Tottenham career is surely coming to an end sooner rather than later after Ange Postecoglou omitted him from the Europa League squad for the knockout stages of the competition.

The Germany winger joined the club on loan in January 2023 initially for the second half of last season, before re-signing for a further 12 months last summer to bolster the north London side's attacking options.

But some poor performances and injuries have seen the RB Leipzig loanee met with big criticism from fans and the manager himself, and it now seems all but certain that he won't be joining the club on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

Werner Sure to Return to Germany

Postecoglou has booted him from the Europa League squad

The club have got an abundance of forward options to choose from when everyone is fit, but Postecoglou has had some terrible luck this season with the fitness of his squad and he has rarely had a full array of options.

Werner has managed to earn 26 appearances so far in all competitions as a result, but has returned just one goal and three assists. His performance in the Europa League clash with Rangers saw him hooked at half-time, with the manager branding it "unacceptable" in the process.

Since then he has struggled for minutes and fallen behind even youngster Mikey Moore in the pecking order, and the club dipped back into the transfer market in January for Mathys Tel to further strengthen.

That decision has also seen Postecoglou bring the 19-year-old Frenchman into the Europa League squad for the second half of the competition, with the German now ineligible for the competition as a result. Djed Spence and fellow January signing Kevin Danso have also been called into the squad list, with Fraser Forster and the injured Radu Dragusin making way.

Forster is the third-choice goalkeeper and Dragusin is out for the rest of the season, so their absences make sense. But Werner is simply a matter of preference for the manager, and suggests that once he has the opportunity to send the £200,000-per-week winger back to Leipzig he will take it.

GIVEMESPORT sources have already reported that the chances of his loan being made permanent are very slim, and Postecoglou has now all but confirmed it.

Exclusive: 'Record-Breaking' Tottenham Signing 'Determined' to be a Success

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Another shot at silverware slipped away for Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night, sparking fresh scrutiny over what went wrong this time and how they recover.

A humiliating 4-0 defeat at Anfield delivered another painful low point in Spurs’ season, but boss Ange Postecoglou has every reason to highlight the stark difference in squad depth between his side and Liverpool. Injuries have left him facing an uphill battle to keep the club on course to achieve its goals.

Yet, just days after the tactician outlined his long-term vision to Mathys Tel, questions are already swirling over whether he will see out the season - let alone be in charge of the loanee beyond the summer.

Tel Desperate for Deadline Day Move to be Success

Teenager joined north Londoners on initial loan deal this week

Tottenham have been insisting they remain fully behind their manager, and chairman Daniel Levy did make late moves in the winter transfer window to strengthen the squad, offering hope for an improved run of form. But an FA Cup tie with Aston Villa is up next and if Spurs lose that one, Postecoglou’s role really would be under the microscope.

The 'record-breaking' Tel is totally focused on making a success of his move, but major moments in the season will help determine what the chances will be of keeping the Frenchman in north London beyond the end of the campaign.

Tottenham worked hard to sign him from Bayern Munich on deadline day, eventually striking a £10million loan deal with an option to keep him beyond the temporary period. But it needs to work for all parties.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Mathys Tel arrived at Tottenham Hotspur having been restricted to just 253 minutes of Bundesliga action this season

We reported how Harry Kane had encouraged Tel to make the switch, citing it as a great chance to get first-team football in an elite environment, but Postecoglou had been integral to that deal happening.

We understand the boss made it clear in talks with the 19-year-old that he does not want this to be a short-term signing, and he believes the club’s overall package - both on and off the pitch - could convince him to stay beyond this season.

Tel came off the substitutes bench in the 4-0 Carabao Cup semi-final second leg defeat to Liverpool and will hope to be part of much better matchdays over the coming months.

Tel Already Poised to be Handed Striker Berth

Frenchman could profit from Richarlison suffering fresh injury

The plan is for Tel to be a key figure in Tottenham's attack, with plenty of game time, playing both as a striker and out wide. Largely, he was expected to be filling a role that Timo Werner has struggled to make his own but, already, he is going to be needed more intensely for goal power after Richarlison limped out of the Liverpool game and faces another injury problem.

Tel’s pace and ability in the final third are seen as a significant upgrade on what Werner has offered and, perhaps, will be better than Richarlison too, while Dominic Solanke recovers from injury.

We have reported how Spurs have no plans to trigger Werner’s £8.5million option to make his loan permanent, reinforcing the idea that Tel is seen as a long-term solution. But, for this option to work out, Tel needs to be convinced of a bright future.

Bayern Munich see no downside in this loan move. At worst, the player will return to them with Premier League experience. However, Postecoglou hoped the signing of Tel could prove to be a defining moment and, after personally stressing how crucial he is to his plans and the club’s wider commitment to elite young player development, he wants the plan to come off.

For now, he could really do with a big goal from his new signing to lift the gloom when Tottenham travel to Villa Park on Sunday.
