A number of promising youngsters in the Tottenham Hotspur academy have sealed important loan moves this summer, and as the transfer window nears its end, another exciting talent is heading off to gain first-team experience.

Abbott off to Notts County

The Spurs academy team had a wonderful season last time out, topping the Premier League 2 table and winning the play-offs, with many in the squad impressing enough to get attention from the senior side.

We’ve already seen Mikey Moore and Jamie Donley step up to the first-team, while Will Lankshear and Tyrese Hall were involved in pre-season, too.

However, it is Under-21 captain, George Abbott, who looks set to secure an exciting loan move for the 2024/25 season.

The news comes from Alasdair Gold on X, who posted: “Understand George Abbott is set to join League Two side Notts County on loan. Good move for the versatile 19-year-old Spurs academy player who made his Premier League debut a couple of seasons ago.”

Now, we wait for confirmation of the switch. There is still a chance another club could swoop and take over the deal, but either way, it looks certain that Abbott will be off on loan this season.

Spurs youngsters take big steps this season

Abbott would become the latest in a long line of Spurs youth players who could be making big strides in their careers this season.

Jamie Donley is now plying his trade with Leyton Orient in League One, while Ashley Phillips and Dane Scarlett are in the Championship with Stoke and Oxford United, respectively.

Alejo Veliz is further afield, playing for La Liga side Espanyol this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

This would be a fantastic move for Abbott. You’d have to think he would be playing pretty much week in, week out at League Two level. I don’t know if he will ever make it for Spurs, but he should at least be able to forge a decent career in the Championship at least.

What is MatchWornShirt?

MatchWornShirt is one of the biggest names in sports memorabilia. Partnered with more than 300 teams worldwide, the company gives fans access to an incredible range of unique sports memorabilia, ranging from the shirts worn in football, rugby and cricket matches to the jerseys, bicycles and helmets of top cyclists competing in Grand Tours, and much more.

How did MatchWornShirt start?

In 2017, when brothers Tijmen and Bob Zonderwijk were preparing for their father’s birthday, it didn’t take long for them to realise what the ideal gift would be: a football shirt worn on the pitch by his favourite player. Quickly, however, the brothers discovered how difficult it was to get their hands on this gift. Out of the experience came the idea for MatchWornShirt: giving football fans the chance to own the match-worn & signed shirts of their favourite players, straight from the pitch, with a significant portion of proceeds raised going to support charities and foundations associated with the clubs.

How can I own a match-worn and signed Spurs shirt?

The moment that a match kicks off, an auction goes live on MatchWornShirt’s website and app for the shirts of a partnered team’s entire starting squad. That’s right: you can actually start bidding on a shirt while it’s still being worn by the player! Once the match has finished, the shirts are signed by the players and transferred to the MatchWornShirt office, where they are sanitised in a UV-C machine and undergo a thorough authentication process. Next? You place the winning bid and the auction comes to an end. No matter where you live, your shirt will now be shipped to your home as quickly and efficiently as possible.

What Spurs matches can I get my favourite player’s shirt from?

All of them! Not only Premier League matches, but every match taking place in a domestic and international tournament. From the FA Cup to the UEFA Europa League, there are some seriously unmissable opportunities coming your way throughout the new season!

How do I know my shirt is genuine?

Every Spurs shirt auctioned on MatchWornShirt goes through a rigorous authentication process and is equipped with Fabricks. Powered by an NFC chip, this cutting-edge technology enables you to personally verify your shirt’s origin and identity by unlocking a digital certificate of authenticity. By guaranteeing your shirt’s authenticity, Fabricks permanently protects its identity as a unique and irreplaceable piece of sports memorabilia.

Where does the money go?

Charitable work is and has always been integral to MatchWornShirt. In this case, that’s the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, the Club’s official charitable body inspiring and empowering thousands of people in North London through programmes spanning football and multi-sports, health and wellbeing, employability and education. Through their partnership with Spurs, MatchWornShirt is committed to allocating a considerable amount of the money raised by selected Spurs auctions to this foundation.

Report: How much Tottenham Hotspur earn per fan at each home game

Description

An analysis from Sports Business Institute Barcelona has found that Tottenham Hotspur earn the second-highest revenue per fan across the Premier League, with only Chelsea making more from each spectator.

Tottenham rake in the money from fans on matchday

This has been calculated by dividing each Premier League club’s total matchday revenue by their average attendance.

Spurs are said to be earning £100.50 per fan who walks through the turnstiles at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This is just marginally short of Chelsea, who make an average of £100.70 per fan at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs are raising the bar for stadium revenue

However, Tottenham’s bigger stadium capacity seems to earn them a lot more in total matchday revenue than their London rivals, with Stamford Bridge only seating a maximum of 40,341 fans.

MORE SPURS STORIES

There is then a substantial drop after Spurs and Chelsea, with no other club averaging more than £80 in revenue per fan. The top five are rounded off by Liverpool (£79), Arsenal (£75) and Manchester United (£74), with Manchester City in sixth place with £71.1.

Spurs Web Opinion

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was built to maximise revenue by adding more corporate seats than other venues across the division. So the average might not really tell the whole story as it might be pushed up by expensive outliers.

Additionally, Spurs’ home ground also likely makes more in food and beverage sales than most other venues in the country.

On the whole, one would likely find that there is not a big difference between how much Tottenham and Arsenal fans pay for their tickets.

Player brushes off criticism one month after leaving Spurs

Troy Parrott has endured a testing start to his spell at AZ Alkmaar after joining from Tottenham last month, but the striker is confident that things will turn for him sooner rather than later.

Troy Parrott earned a move to AZ Alkmaar

Given Parrott’s impressive showing on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam last season, it did not come as a surprise when the 22-year-old attracted interest from Dutch clubs this summer.

It was Alkmaar who eventually won the race for the centre-forward, agreeing a deal worth £6.7m with Spurs for the player.

According to reports, Tottenham also included a 20 per cent sell-on clause for the Republic of Ireland international, thus ensuring that they would benefit from any future big-money move that the forward makes (Football London).

Troy Parrott brushes off criticism after leaving Spurs

Parrott has not had the easiest of starts to his time at the Dutch club, having failed to find the back of the net in his first three Eredivisie games for his new side.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The former Tottenham man has thus come in for some criticism but he insisted that he pays no attention to what is being said about him, confidently asserting that goals will come for him.

When asked about the critics, Parrott told De Telegraaf: “That’s fine. People will always have their opinions ready. I just care about what my teammates and the trainer say to me.

“I’ll never talk myself down. That doesn’t help anyone. I always adopt a positive attitude. I have to get into a better scoring position. I also depend on my teammates for that.

“It is something we are working hard on with the team. No pressure, no panic. I have no doubts whatsoever: the goals will come.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Given the goals and assists he got for a relegated side last season, Parrott should not have any issues scoring 15-20 goals at a side like Alkmaar, who are expected to be pushing for a top-three finish this season.

Tottenham Hotspur have this evening found out who they will face in the third round of the Carabao Cup after the draw was made just a short time ago.

Tottenham learn of their Carabao Cup third round opponents

This draw this year is slightly different due to the expansion of both the Champions League and the Europa League, two additional European matchweeks have been added to the calendar, which coincide with the Carabao Cup third round dates, which be staggered the weeks commencing 16th and 23rd September.

Conditions have been made for this draw due to the scheduling of European fixtures in September to ensure Champions League clubs cannot face a Europa League-competing side in the third round.

A pre-draw took place ahead of the Nottingham Forest-Newcastle game to determine the home/away position of sides in bowl one.

This will only be the case for the third round as the rest of the competition will follow the traditional free-draw format.

old with a new signing before deadline

According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur could sign a left-back to replace Sergio Reguilon before the transfer window shuts on Friday.

Sergio Reguilon is expected to leave Tottenham

The report backs up what we have heard from several sources over recent weeks by stating that Reguilon is expected to seal a permanent exit from Tottenham before the deadline.

However, it is suggested that the Spaniard’s departure may leave Spurs short of options at left-back. As a result, it is suggested that the Lilywhites may make a late move to sign a backup to Destiny Udogie.

This report from GiveMeSport comes just two days after Football.London’s Alasdair Gold identified the left-back area as the one gap that needs filling at Tottenham.

Do Spurs need a new left-back?

Gold pointed out that Ange Postecoglou’s decision to bring on Djed Spence at left-back in the latter stages of the clash against Everton could be proof that the Spurs boss plans to use Ben Davies as cover for central defence instead.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He questioned whether Spence might be exposed out of position at left-back against the better sides and suggested that the Australian coach might thus want to add a suitable backup to Udogie.

The transfer window slams shut on Friday at 11 pm so Spurs will have to get moving if they do want a new left-back before the deadline.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think Postecoglou has the backup left-back position covered between Spence, Davies and Micky van de Ven.

If Tottenham do make a late signing, I think it will either be a young centre-back or a number eight.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have this evening been part of a pre-draw for the Carabao Cup third round.

Tottenham were in bowl one for the Carabao Cup draw

There has been a change to the draw this year due to the increased number of Champions League and Europa League group stage fixtures.

UEFA’s decision to tweak the two competitions has seen additional matchweeks have been added to the calendar for those two competitions that clash with the dates for the Carabao Cup, which will be staggered over the weeks commencing 16 September and 23 September.

A pre-draw has taken place prior to Nottingham Forest’s match against Newcastle to determine the home and away positioning of the six clubs in Bowl 1 for the first six ties of the main draw.

To ensure there is no clash of fixture dates for the six English teams playing in these competitions, two bowls will be used for the draw.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Carabao Cup third round draw is different this year

Bowl One contained the teams who have reached the Champions League and Europa League, while Bowl Two will have the remaining 26 clubs.

The first six ties will be drawn by alternating between one club from Bowl 1 and one side from Bowl 2. Once the six clubs from Bowl 1 have been drawn, the remaining ten ties will be drawn from Bowl 2 only.

This will only be the case for the third round – the rest of the competition will follow the traditional free-draw format.

The draw which was conducted by two former Spurs players Michael Dawson and Les Ferdinand has seen four of the six Carabao Cup ties invoving clubs in European competition set to be played at home. The final two of the six will be on the road in their respective ties.

The full draw will take place after the Forest v Newcastle United tie at the City Ground, and will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Fabrizio Romano says Lo Celso's Tottenham exit is finally gathering some pace

Description

A domino effect in the transfer market is likely to begin in the final days of the summer window, and one move, in particular, appears to be opening the path for one Spurs midfielder to head to Spain.

Lo Celso set for Betis return

It seems Giovani Lo Celso‘s time at Tottenham is coming to an end. The playmaker has been at the club since 2019, but has never managed to establish himself among the first-team despite a brief resurgence under Ange Postecoglou last season.

Now, it is thought the departure of Nabil Fekir at Real Betis is going to open the door for Lo Celso to head back to Spain once more.

A report from Relevo discusses the matter, claiming Fekir has already travelled to Saudi Arabia to finalise his move to Al-Jazira. That transfer is thought to be “key for Betis in the final moves” as they look to secure the signing of Lo Celso.

Despite interest in Dani Ceballos, Lo Celso is considered the favourite for the Spanish outfit to replace Fekir. According to Relevo reporter Matteo Moretto, Betis will now “accelerate” their interest in the Spurs man.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Fabrizio Romano has similar information

They’re not the only ones to comment on the situation, either. Fabrizio Romano shared an update on his X account on Wednesday, too.

He tweeted: “Real Betis are pushing to sign Gio Lo Celso as top target for midfield since June. Lo Celso’s expected to leave Spurs in the final days and negotiations can now start as Nabil Fekir is on his way out. Qatari side Al Jazira advancing in talks for Fekir.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I haven’t been particularly desperate for Spurs to move Lo Celso on this summer, but now that the decision has been made to sell him, we have to get the deal done swiftly and clear the books further. He’s a really talented player, but he just feels better suited for La Liga.

Report: Tottenham are working on a late defender signing this week

Description

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing a centre-back before the transfer window closes at 11 pm on Friday.

A few days left in the transfer window

With just a few days left in the window, some sources are continuing to suggest that Spurs may pull off a surprise deal before the window shuts.

This includes Alasdair Gold, who revealed on his YouTube channel that Tottenham are still on the lookout for opportunities and may pounce if any of their targets become available late on.

Football Insider have now asserted that Ange Postecoglou wants to add one more centre-back to his squad before the deadline.

Tottenham want a new defender for Ange

The report explains that with Ashley Phillips being loaned out to Stoke City, the Spurs boss only has three recognised centre-backs Cristian Romero, Radu Dragusin and Micky van de Ven.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is alleged that the Australian views Ben Davies as nothing more than an emergency backup at centre-half, which is why he wants to bring one more player through the door.

The report says that Tottenham are actively working on trying to sign a new defender in the coming days.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham are to make a signing before Friday’s deadline, it seems like a centre-back might be the most likely player to arrive at the door.

Perhaps the club may sign a younger, up-and-coming centre-half, who would be content with a bit-part role this season.

Europa League 2024: When is the draw and who could Tottenham get?

Submitted by daniel on
Picture

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are involved in Europe’s second-tier competition this season, and the draw takes place very soon. Here are all the teams taking part, and when Spurs will end up playing.

After a fifth-placed finish last season, Ange Postecoglou will lead his Tottenham team into Europe and will fancy his chances of going all the way to take part in the final next year in Bilbao.

The tournament has some changes to previous years, though. So here’s everything you need to know about the Europa League 2024.

When is the Europa League draw?

The draw for this year’s Europa League takes place on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 12 pm UK time.

However, the fixture list will be formalised and released a day later, on August 31.

How does it work?

As opposed to a group stage followed by knockout games in previous years, the Europa League will now be one big league made up of 36 teams, with 16 clubs making it to the knockout rounds.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Each team will be drawn against eight opponents for the league stage, with a combination of home and away matches being played through to the end of January.

The top eight teams in the league will automatically qualify for the last 16, while teams placed 9th to 24th will take part in a play-off to determine who advances to the knockout stage.

Who’s in the draw?

So far, Spurs are joined by Manchester United, Roma, Rangers, Lazio, Porto, Eintracht Frankfurt, Olympiacos, Lyon, Real Sociedad, AZ Alkmaar, Union Saint-Gilloise, Nice, Twente, Athletic Club, Fenerbahce, and Hoffenheim.

Spurs are in Pot 1 with Man Utd, Roma, Rangers, Lazio, Porto, and Frankfurt. Pot 2 is Olympiacos and Lyon at the moment.

Real Sociedad, AZ Alkmaar, Union Saint-Gilloise, Nice, Twente, Athletic Club, Fenerbahce, and Hoffenheim have not been sorted into a pot yet.

A team will be pulled out of Pot 1 and will then be assigned two teams to play from each pot. Teams cannot face another team from their own country, and cannot play more than one team from any other nation.

For example, Spurs cannot play Manchester United in the league stage, and they would not be able to be drawn against both Lyon and Nice (two French sides).

Europa League 2024 fixtures

Although we don’t know who Spurs will be playing yet, we do know that Europa League matches will start on September 25, 2024 and run through to January 30, 2025.

Here’s the rundown of when games will take place:

Matchday 1: September 25-26, 2024

Matchday 2: October 3, 2024

Matchday 3: October 24, 2024

Matchday 4: November 7, 2024

Matchday 5: November 28, 2024

Matchday 6: December 12, 2024

Matchday 7: January 23, 2025
