Maxence Lacroix raves about Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven | OneFootball

Speaking on talkSPORT, the Eagles defender said that Van de Ven is a “really good talent”.

Lacroix knows Van de Ven very well, as they played together for German side Wolfsburg before the 23-year-old defender moved to Tottenham in 2023.

Van de Ven has established himself as one of the key players for Spurs, and he is arguably one of the fastest defenders in the world, let alone in the Premier League.

Lacroix still feels that he can beat Van de Ven in a 100-metre race.

“Micky is a really good talent and player,” said Lacroix.

“100 metres? It’s a long race. He’s quick, but I think I can beat him.”

Lacroix moved to Selhurst Park during the summer transfer window, and he made a strong impact under Oliver Glasner.

He took time to settle down at his new club, and now he has forged a strong defensive partnership with Marc Guehi at the back.

The 24-year-old centre-back has made 22 starts in the Premier League, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

Van de Ven started the season strongly for Spurs, but he missed a chunk of games due to injuries. In fact, last season, he also missed a lot of games due to injuries, and it is becoming a worrying sign for the north London club.

The Dutch defender has made only nine starts in the Premier League this season, but he could play a massive role for Spurs in the final few months.

He is recovering well from a thigh injury and should be able to return within the next three weeks. Spurs are still missing Radu Dragusin, Dominik Solanke, Richarlison, Cristian Romero, and Timo Werner.

Rodrigo Bentancur, Kevin Danso, and Son Heung-Min picked up knocks in the previous game, but they should be able to start on Saturday against Ipswich Town.

The case of Jobe Bellingham

Jobe is doing his work pretty effectively in the ongoing campaign so far. He has four goals and three assists under his hat in 29 games so far. He is averaging 1.9 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 2.2 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).

The 19-year-old has a profile similar to his brother but yet with different traits. He is more versatile in his abilities and can absorb pressure in the middle of the park. He is effective in both aspects of the game and is improving with each day passing.

Jobe Bellingham is ready for a big move

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealing with multiple injuries in the ongoing season. Though they have some good midfielders, they need to strengthen their unit. Hence, their interest in Jobe Bellingham somewhat makes sense.

Jobe is a talented kid and can be a star in making just like his elder brother. His versatility and high qualities make him an ideal target for the major clubs. He can be a good long-term investment for a club like Spurs.

While Jude is plying his trade in La Liga, the 19-year-old could be seen playing in the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur are evaluating the youngster’s performance and will take a call accordingly. Reportedly, Sunderland are open to selling the player should they get a reasonable valuation.

One of Tottenham Hotspur’s stars ‘can now imagine’ a move to a league that he rejected as an option in the winter transfer window.

Spurs landed Antonin Kinsky, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel in the winter window, but they are expected to be a lot busier in terms of both ins and outs in the summer.

There are question marks over the future of attacker Timo Werner, who is on loan from RB Leipzig, but has struggled to make a telling impact.

Currently recovering from a hamstring injury, Werner’s future will be up for grabs at the end of the season despite Tottenham having an option to buy for £8.5m.

Interest in the player has arrived from the shores of the United States where MLS club New York Red Bulls are keen on signing him.

They made an approach for him in the winter transfer window, but Werner was not open to the idea of heading to the MLS.

Now, according to German daily Bild (via Fussball Transfers), Werner ‘can now imagine’ a move to the MLS.

He has opened up to the idea of playing in the United States as his next move.

While Werner’s deal at RB Leipzig runs until 2026, they are expected to want to sell him in the summer.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have added Tottenham Hotspur managerial target Andoni Iraola to their shortlist in the event of Carlo Ancelotti’s departure in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Spanish manager has done a decent job in England with top-flight club Bournemouth and after a bottom-half finish in the league last term, they are now fighting to secure European football at the end of this season.

Iraola has also helped bring the best out of his players, as a result of which players such as Dean Huijsen are attracting interest from top clubs such as Newcastle United and Manchester United.

European teams have been drawn towards him and efforts are being made to snatch him away from Bournemouth’s hands.

Tottenham, languishing 12th in the table, have Iraola near the top of their list in the event they sack current manager Ange Postecoglou.

However, Iraola could well be difficult to lure given the possible involvement of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have both the 42-year-old and current Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso on their shortlist to replace Ancelotti in the summer.

As Iraola will still have a year left on his Bournemouth contract at the end of the season, compensation would need to be paid to break his contract.

‘Available’: Setback for Man United, Spurs get triple fitness boost including Maddison return | OneFootball

Manchester United are gearing up for a crucial Premier League showdown as they travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The hosts have received a huge boost to their squad, with key players returning just in time for the high-stakes clash.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Destiny Udogie have all returned to full training and are available for selection ahead of the visit of United.

Vicario fractured his ankle in the win over Manchester City on November 23 which forced him to miss more than two months of action.

He is expected to start between the sticks against the Red Devils.

Maddison and Udogie suffered calf and hamstring injuries respectively but are in contention to feature on Sunday.

This news comes as a major relief for Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, who has been under fire following recent disappointing cup exits and lackluster league performances.

Meanwhile, United find themselves in a precarious position under head coach Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese coach has helped his side progress to the next round of the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.

However, they have endured a tough league season.

Sitting 13th in the league with only 29 points from 24 matches, United are in dire need of a turnaround, having already slipped too far from the top-four chase.

Amorim will be aware that Spurs are a tough side to beat when they play at their best.

The London outfit have defeated United twice this season.

The Red Devils were thrashed 3-0 in front of the Old Trafford crowd when Erik ten Hag was in charge of the club.

Postecoglou got the better of Amorim when Tottenham knocked United out of the Carabao Cup in December.

Maddison will bring creativity to the side and could form a threatening partnership with Mathys Tel.

Udogie could return to his left-back position but face a challenge to displace Djed Spence who has fared well in recent games.

United must focus on improving their game as the fans would want them to take revenge for the previous two defeats.

Amorim needs his attack to start firing and find solutions in defence after the ACL injury to Lisandro Martinez.

Tottenham Eye Familiar Face as Walker-Peters Nears Free Agency

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a move to re-sign their former full-back Kyle Walker-Peters, with Southampton bracing for his departure at the end of the season. As reported by TeamTalk, the 27-year-old’s contract is set to expire, making him one of the more attractive free agents in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Photo IMAGO

Walker-Peters Primed for Summer Exit

Walker-Peters, who left Spurs for Southampton in a £12 million move in 2020, has not signed an extension to the five-year deal he initially penned on the south coast. His versatility across both full-back positions has seen him become a key player for Saints, but their hopes of retaining him appear slim.

As TeamTalk reports, “Saints chiefs have already resigned themselves to the fact they have no chance of keeping the 27-year-old,” even if the club manages to avoid relegation.

The right-back turned down an opportunity to move to Turkish giants Galatasaray during the winter transfer window, instead opting to keep his options open for the summer. London rivals West Ham United and Fulham are also tracking his situation, though it is Spurs who appear most intent on securing his signature.

Spurs’ Struggles Could Influence Decision

Tottenham’s current struggles in the Premier League, sitting 14th and having suffered early exits from both domestic cup competitions, could complicate matters. However, their ongoing Europa League campaign offers a glimmer of hope. Winning that tournament would guarantee Champions League football next season, potentially making the club a more attractive proposition for Walker-Peters.

With Tottenham’s defensive frailties exposed throughout the campaign, the addition of a familiar and reliable figure like Walker-Peters could bring much-needed stability. His experience in the Premier League and ability to play on either side of the backline makes him an ideal candidate to strengthen Spurs’ options.

Our View – EPL Index / Anfield Index Analysis

From a Tottenham fan’s perspective, the potential return of Kyle Walker-Peters may evoke mixed emotions. On one hand, he represents a cost-effective solution to address defensive issues, particularly given the club’s limited spending power in recent windows.

Walker-Peters’ consistent performances for Southampton demonstrate how much he has grown since leaving Spurs. However, some supporters might question the club’s strategy of re-signing players they’ve previously deemed surplus to requirements.

The full-back’s decision to reject Galatasaray indicates a desire to remain in a competitive league, and Tottenham could certainly benefit from his versatility. If the club secures Champions League football through the Europa League, this move could make perfect sense.

Ultimately, Walker-Peters’ potential return could prove shrewd business for a club in desperate need of defensive reinforcement. However, for fans who hoped to see fresh talent brought in, this deal might feel like a step backward.
