Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing AS Monaco forward Breel Embolo in the January transfer window.

According to a report from L’Equipe, Spurs are in the race to sign the 27-year-old forward who could be allowed to leave the club before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Ange Postecoglou wants to add at least one player in the current window, but they have found it hard to secure deals for their top targets.

Monaco value the 73-times capped Switzerland striker at around £16.5 million. Como are also interested in signing him, but they are not willing to meet the asking price.

Spurs are interested, while Monaco could also consider a swap deal with Bayern Munich involving Mathys Tel.

His contract is expiring in the next 18 months. He has been at the French club since 2022, and has scored 20 goals in 73 games. This season, he has scored four goals and provided two assists in 16 Ligue 1 games.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Southampton teenager Tyler Dibling but they are highly unlikely to sign him in this current window.

As of now, the North London club have not submitted any formal bid for Embolo. They retain an interest, but it is unclear whether they would at all move for him.

According to a report from The Express, Spurs are desperate to bring in a new attacker after agreeing to loan 18-year-old winger Yang Min-hyeok to Queens Park Rangers.

Tottenham have been linked with the likes of Liam Delap, Jonathan David and Santiago Gimenez this month. With the deadline fast approaching, they will have to move quickly.

Spurs are missing a host of attacking players at the moment. Dominic Solnake, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner are all sidelined.

They are also missing key defenders like Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie.

Tottenham Eyes Sacked Man Utd Manager as Postecoglou Struggles

Tottenham Hotspur’s current form in the Premier League paints a bleak picture, with the club sitting precariously just eight points above the relegation zone. After a series of disappointing results, including a recent 2-1 loss to Leicester City, the atmosphere around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has become increasingly tense. According to Fichajes, the future of head coach Ange Postecoglou is now hanging by a thread, with the club not ruling out a managerial change in the near future.

Potential Candidates to Replace Postecoglou

In the quest to turn their fortunes around, Spurs are reportedly considering several candidates. Among them, the name of Erik ten Hag stands out. The former Manchester United manager, dismissed after a poor run of results, is known for his experience and prowess in rebuilding teams. Under his leadership, Man Utd captured the FA Cup and the EFL Cup, adding to his earlier successes with Ajax in the Eredivisie. Fichajes highlights that Spurs are drawn to ten Hag’s “experience and ability to rebuild teams,” a much-needed skill set at a club looking to recapture its former glory.

Spurs’ Stance on Postecoglou’s Future

Despite the growing discontent among supporters, Tottenham’s board has yet to pull the plug on Postecoglou’s tenure. This stance comes amid vocal dissatisfaction from fans, notably during the loss to Leicester, where chants against chairman Daniel Levy were heard. However, the club seems prepared to keep their faith in Postecoglou a little longer, with potential interim solutions like Ryan Mason waiting in the wings should a change become necessary.

Rebuilding the North London Club

The decision over Postecoglou’s future and the consideration of ten Hag as a potential successor highlight the broader challenges facing Spurs. The north London club’s management appears committed to a strategy that balances immediate competitive needs with long-term rebuilding, evident from their consideration of both seasoned and emerging managerial talents.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

As a Tottenham Hotspur supporter, the latest reports from Fichajes regarding Erik ten Hag potentially taking over from Ange Postecoglou bring both relief and anxiety. Relief, because ten Hag’s track record with Ajax and even his tenure at Manchester United show he can marshal resources effectively and bring about tangible success. His experience in steering teams through tough rebuilds could be just what Spurs need.

However, there’s an undercurrent of anxiety as well. Changing managers midway through the season comes with risks. It disrupts team dynamics and often, the new manager needs time to settle in—a luxury we might not have if we’re to salvage this season. The fear of relegation, though slight, looms larger with every defeat, and the thought of bringing in a manager who has just been sacked for poor performance is a gamble.

Ultimately, if ten Hag can inspire confidence quickly and harness the potential of our squad, then perhaps this bold move could be the catalyst for a turnaround. But as every Spurs fan knows, hope is often a precursor to heartbreak. Here’s hoping this time it’s different.

Tottenham Hotspur ideally want to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling in January | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur “ideally” want to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling in the January transfer window, according to a report from The Telegraph.

Spurs are badly struggling in the Premier League at the moment, and Ange Postecoglou is looking to sign at least one player this month.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Spurs will try their best this week to accelerate plans to bring some new faces; if not now, then definitely next summer.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Dibling this month, and they have held talks already. Lille midfielder Angel Gomes is also being targeted.

Spurs have been looking at defenders and forwards this month, but they have found it extremely challenging.

It would be a massive coup for the North London club if they could reach an agreement for Dibling. Ideally, they want him now, but the club are also discussing trying to get an agreement in place for the Southampton youngster to move at the end of the season.

The Guardian previously reported that any potential suitor will have to pay a handsome fee of around £55 million for his signature.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg said earlier this month that Spurs remain in “very concrete talks” with the player’s management, but they are likely to face a lot of competition to sign Dibling, especially from RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga club “will continue to do everything possible” to sign the 18-year-old, who has been enjoying a brilliant season despite Southampton’s struggles. He has been hailed as “exceptional” by pundits, and Spurs must try to reach an agreement for him.

Signing a striker could be important as well, and they are keen to land Evan Ferguson, who will be allowed to leave Brighton. There’s a lot of competition for his signature and Spurs might lose out.

Tottenham Hotspur loan star Timo Werner is in talks with MLS outfit New York Red Bulls over a potential transfer to the United States.

The 28-year-old German forward joined Spurs on a six-month loan in January of 2024 from RB Leipzig, which was later extended to cover this term.

Werner has been a bit part player for Tottenham this season and has started only four games for them and has yet to score a goal in the league.

In December, Ange Postecoglou criticised Werner after Spurs’ Europa League tie against Rangers, where he was substituted at half-time.

Tottenham have an option to make his move from Leipzig to Spurs permanent in the summer, which they are unlikely to trigger.

Now according to French outlet Foot Mercato, the Germany international is in talks with New York Red Bulls regarding a possible departure from Spurs in the ongoing window.

Tottenham are light in the forward department and they recently lost Dominic Solanke due to a knee injury.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be willing to let Werner leave in the ongoing window without bringing in a replacement.
