Aston Villa, Tottenham vying for Yan Couto

Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing 22-year-old Manchester City defender Yan Couto this summer.

According to a report from Fichajes, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are currently plotting a raid on Premier League champions Manchester City for the 22-year-old highly-rated full-back Yan Couto.

The Brazilian defender was on loan at Spanish club Girona last season, and he had an impressive campaign with them. However, the opportunity to join a Premier League club could be exciting for him.

It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa and Tottenham can secure agreement with the defending champions. Recent reports have also linked the Manchester City prospect with other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United.

Aston Villa could use an upgrade on Matty Cash next season, and Couto would be a solid acquisition for them. Apart from his qualities as a defender, he can be quite effective going forward as well.

Yan Couto might fancy Premier League move

The Brazilian defender will wants to compete at a high level consistently, and Aston Villa could provide him with that platform. The West Midlands club have secured qualification to the UEFA Champions League as well.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to make a move for Couto as a replacement for his compatriot. The Manchester City defender will want to play regularly at this stage of his career, and it remains to be seen if he is ready to join the Premier League club as a backup option.
