AC Milan has been the home for the outcast Fikayo Tomori over the last four years. Now, having proven his point, he might be returning to old territory. Tomori is subject to interest from Tottenham Hotspur for a winter window move with the aim of adding an extra option to their defensive line.
Fikayo Tomori Considers Tottenham Hotspur Transfer
AC Milan Might Trade Tomori to Tottenham
Fabrizio Romano reported that Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan are “in negotiations” for Tomori. He adds that the player is among three options that Spurs are considering as a central defender.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou would benefit from such a reinforcement at this moment.
Spurs are missing their two main central defenders. Both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero suffered injuries in a 4-3 loss to Chelsea on December 8, 2024. Since that defeat, neither player has been back to full fitness and Postecoglou has tried to impose his style with a makeshift defence.
An 18-year-old midfielder, Archie Gray, and a deputy defender, Radu Drăgușin, do not strike critics as an ideal partnership to be the last line of security in Postecoglou’s plan. The Australian has stayed faithful to his principles and is under fire as Spurs are winless in their last seven league games.
Fans cannot claim that the football is not entertaining, but the openness of their team has tipped too many results the wrong way. The AC Milan defender would want to bring back that balance of probability in their favour and at the same time complete a chapter that is unfinished in his career.
Tomori’s Second Coming in English Football?
Rejection has been the making of Tomori. The central defender, who spent eleven years at Chelsea’s academy, was on the books of the Blues’ first team between 2016 and 2021. He found himself frozen out at the end of his time in West London, leaving for a new life in Italian football with AC Milan.
Tomori put pen to paper for a permanent deal with AC Milan at the end of the 2020/21 season. A year later, he was an integral part of the side’s first Scudetto-winning squad in more than a decade. The Rossoneri rewarded his contributions with an extension for his contract ongoing until June 2027.
Since he signed that deal, the 27-year-old has worn the red and black shirt 71 more times in Serie A and was also a pivotal part of the squad that reached the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League in the 2022/23 campaign. This transfer has been an emphatic success as a spotlight for his ability.
Tomori’s time in Italy has shown his worth and Tottenham should embrace the idea of his signature.
