Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge is up in the air.
Chelsea are determined not to sell Conor Gallagher on the cheap, with Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid still keen on the England midfielder. Sources in Spain say Atletico Madrid are increasingly confident that they will be able to agree on a fee for the England midfielder.
Tottenham have been long-term admirers of Gallagher, who captained Chelsea on a number of occasions last season with both Reece James and Ben Chilwell out injured for long periods. Atletico are strong admirers, but they’ve so far struggled to get close to the £50 million Chelsea are looking for before they say goodbye to their academy graduate.

Gallagher is in a comfortable situation in all of this with just a year left on his current deal, which means he can stay at Stamford Bridge if he doesn’t get a new offer and can then leave for free next summer when he decides his next move.
Some sources have also said Atletico were looking for a loan deal, but the fact that the 24-year-old has just 12 months left on his contract means that option is not financially viable for the Blues.
Chelsea academy players have suddenly found themselves in a precarious situation where they are viewed as sellable assets after the club spent more than £1billion on new young players, believing that in a few years they would be ahead of competitors.
Gallagher is still away on his extended holiday after he helped England to the Euro 2024 final, where they came close to winning the country’s first-ever trophy since the World Cup in 1966.
Last season, Gallagher missed only one league game for the club as they fought their way from mid-table to finishing sixth and securing Europa Conference League football.
