The former Cottagers star had been training with the Eagles this summer following his Spurs release.

Fulham are set to announce the signing of former player Ryan Sessegnon as a free agent following his release from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 24-year-old is a graduate of the Cottagers' youth academy and made 120 appearances for the first team side between 2016 and 2019. He then completed a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for £25 million but never cemented a place in the Spurs team.

Sessegnon played just 57 times for the club before being released this summer, only managing an FA Cup cameo last term in a season that was ravaged by a hamstring injury. The left-back had been training with Crystal Palace this summer with a view to join the Eagles but has had his head turned by Marco Silva's project in West London.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano broke the news of imminent confirmation on social media platform X on Thursday morning, giving the rumour his famous 'here we go' treatment.

The reporter wrote: "EXCLUSIVE: Fulham agree deal to sign Ryan Sessegnon as free agent, here we go! After training with Crystal Palace for weeks, former Spurs LB will join Fulham.

"Agreement in place as Fulham beat competition from several PL clubs to sign Sessegnon."

Despite struggling in recent seasons, Sessengon did win over former Spurs managers Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte with his work ethic. Speaking in 2019, shortly after his move from Fulham, Mourinho - who tried to sign the player when at Manchester United - said: "I think Ryan is absolutely fantastic, I have known him since a kid in Fulham. When he comes to the first team in the Premier League, it is different to the Championship.

“I think in this moment he is a winger on the left, can also play on the right, can learn progressively and even developing physically, which he is doing. Even from the last time I saw him and the first time I met him when I came here he is already different physically”.
