Former Tottenham Hotspur Jamie O'Hara has voiced his pleasure at the fact that former Spurs midfielder and current Burnley boss Scott Parker has been touted with the north London hotseat - stating that he would like his former teammate to take over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
The Australian gaffer has had a horror show in the Premier League this season, with their home loss against Nottingham Forest on Monday marking a record-eighth defeat on home soil, their highest since the competition began in 1992. That has seen him tipped for the exit door, and although other managers have been linked, Parker is the latest to have been touted for a move to the capital.
O'Hara 'Would Like' Scott Parker at Tottenham Hotspur
Parker's stock has never been higher, having secured Premier League promotion with Burnley on Monday after a 2-1 win over Sheffield United - his third in three seasons in the competition, having dragged Fulham and Bournemouth over the line.
And O'Hara, who played with Parker in his time at Craven Cottage in the latter stages of their careers, claimed that he'd like Parker at Tottenham - having been a 'brilliant captain' - though he did warn about the move potentially being too early. O'Hara said on talkSPORT:
“Now, this is interesting, it says Ange is set for a summer exit as Spurs keep tabs on Parker. I think I’d like Scott Parker. I think I’d like Scott Parker at Tottenham.
"There’s something about him, I’ve worked with Scott, I’ve been in the dressing room with Scott, he’s a top bloke, a brilliant captain, his football I like, his identity I like. Is it a step too far early doors? Maybe, but maybe he needs a platform like Tottenham.
“I think he’d be alright, I wouldn’t mind it.”
Tottenham's success this season will depend on their all-important Europa League campaign, which will see them enter the Champions League next season and win a piece of silverware for the first time in 17 years.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Ange Postecoglou has won 44 of his 93 games as Tottenham Hotspur boss.
If they can progress past Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt at the semi-final stage - before potentially taking on Manchester United or Athletic Bilbao in the final at Bilbao's stadium, San Mames - it could still see Postecoglou gone, according to reports.
