Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Burnley boss and former midfielder Scott Parker should Ange Postecoglou leave after a horror campaign in the Premier League - with the Englishman having taken the Clarets up from the Championship after a record-breaking season at Turf Moor.

Parker's side have gone 31 games unbeaten in the league, breaking a new club record, and should they avoid defeat in their final two games of the campaign, it would match the Championship's 33-game record - leading to the former England midfielder being highly-heralded by those in east Lancashire. And that could see him make the move back to the capital to replace the faltering Aussie, who may leave regardless of continental success.

Report: Tottenham 'Admire' Scott Parker

Their former star has done wonders with Burnley this season

The report by the Daily Mail states that Postecoglou is likely to leave Tottenham in the summer, regardless of whether the north London club win the Europa League or not over the coming months - with Tottenham set to carry out a wide-ranging overhaul of their operations.

Another home loss in the Premier League means that Spurs have lost eight home games for the first time in a single season in the competition's history, and they sit just one point ahead of 17th-placed West Ham United in the table, with just five games to go.

As a result, names such as Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola and Fulham's Marco Silva have been linked; however, the report further states that Parker has admirers at the club after his achievements as a manager in the Championship.

Parker played for Tottenham for two years after joining from West Ham back in 2011, registering 63 appearances for the club before departing for Fulham at the age of 33. He was well-liked by supporters, and returned to the club's academy coaching setup for a season before joining the Cottagers as a first-team coach.

Iraola remains more suited to the attacking football that Postecoglou has tried to adorn upon the club in his spell in north London, but Tottenham have been leaky, with League Cup games seeing them concede three goals or more on two occasions. Meanwhile, Parker's successes at Turf Moor have seen Burnley concede just 15 goals in their 44 league games, landing them promotion with two games to go and the best defensive record in Championship history.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Scott Parker has lost just 21 of his 138 games in the Championship.

Whether Tottenham will opt for a manager with little-to-no evidence of succeeding in the Premier League remains to be seen, but Parker's stock has never been higher having recorded his third Championship promotion at the third attempt after previously taking Fulham and Bournemouth up in 2020 and 2022 respectively.
