Tottenham are now preparing for a Europa League quarter-final first leg with Eintracht Frankfurt after beating and relegating Southampton in pretty comfortable fashion on Sunday. Ange Postecoglou’s men have just one remaining avenue to Europe, needing to win the Europa League, and the first leg will be key here given how tricky the second will be away from home, in Germany.

In the meantime, there is plenty of talk about Tottenham’s summer transfer plans, and indeed their plans for Postecoglou. Here we round up all the latest transfer news surrounding the North London club.

Cherki interest

Tottenham are said to be interested in a deal for Lyon star Rayan Cherki having previously been linked with the 21-year-old winger. Spurs need more attacking options next season, with Timo Werner set to head back to RB Leipzig, and it’s claimed the Lilywhites like the look for Frenchman Cherki.

TBR Football report that Lyon could cash in on Cherki for £25million or less this summer, and Spurs are said to be one of the clubs expressing an interest. Cherki has nine goals and a whopping 18 assists so far this season. Lyon would surely keep Cherki in an ideal world, but he only has a contract until 2026, and if they cannot get him to agree a new deal, they are better off selling this summer than losing an obvious talent on a free transfer the following summer.

Sané links

Another attacking option Tottenham could look at is Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, who has plenty of experience in the Premier League having won the title twice with Manchester City. Sane is out of contract this summer, and Bayern have held conversations over a new deal, but nothing has been agreed yet.

It’s still being reported that the winger would prefer to stay and that Bayern will make an offer, but until pen is put to paper, clubs away from Germany will be free to hold conversations with his representatives in a bid to turn his head. According to TBR Football, Tottenham and Arsenal are both interested in doing that, although given his preference to remain in Germany, they are going to have to pay big in terms of wages, especially with no transfer fee on the table, something that gives players huge leverage in wage discussions.

Ange ‘knows’ his fate

Former Premier League winger Perry Groves believes Ange Postecoglou already knows his fate amid rumours he will be sacked after the season. “He knows he’s going and the Spurs fans know he’s going and the players know he’s going – simple as that,” Groves told TalkSport.

“I think the worry is this group of Tottenham players who were invested in Ange Postecoglou right at the start because they were playing front-foot, attacking football, but the style has been found out, the manager has been found out. I think he’s not the level of a Premier League manager because when he was with his team in Japan and with Celtic, he had better players than the opposition had, so you can play that way”.
