Watch £35m-rated Maatsen's best bits for Dortmund

Ian Maatsen could leave Chelsea this summer, with Aston Villa reportedly interested.

Find out why here by watching his best bits from an impressive loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.

His deal at Chelsea is understood to include a £35m release clause.

'Chelsea's Duran chase progresses'

Chelsea have been given permission to discuss personal terms with Aston Villa's Jhon Duran, according to The Telegraph.

The Blues are on the lookout for a striker this summer - and a deal for Duran to go to Stamford Bridge could open the door to a Chelsea player going the other way.

The Telegraph report that on top of Conor Gallagher being a target, Villa have enquired about Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen, who spent the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Maatsen has a £35m release clause in his deal, the report says, which Dortmund are unwilling to pay. That has opened the door to Villa to swoop in.

The Telegraph claim that Villa will only be able to buy Chelsea players if Duran moves to Stamford Bridge.

Bayern still keeping tabs on Colwill

Bayern Munich are continuing to keep tabs on Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, with the German club considering alternative targets to Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah, according to ESPN.

Gallagher: It was sad to see Poch leave

Conor Gallagher admits he was “sad” to see Mauricio Pochettino leave Chelsea but is putting his own future to one side to focus on England’s Euro 2024 campaign.

The 24-year-old made 50 appearances last season for the Blues, captaining the side under Pochettino – who left Stamford Bridge by mutual consent in May.

While it proved a tumultuous campaign for Chelsea as a whole, Gallagher arguably played some of the most consistent football of his career, sealing himself a place in Gareth Southgate’s European Championships squad in the process.

Pochettino paid the price for Chelsea’s sixth-placed Premier League finish and has been replaced by Enzo Maresca.

“Of course he has done so much for me so I was sad,” Gallagher said on Pochettino’s exit.

“Sad for him and coaching staff but really excited about the new manager coming in and myself and everyone at Chelsea is really excited to work with him.

“I think I have come a long way this season, I give a lot of credit to Pochettino and what he has done for me, gave me responsibility and trust at Chelsea.

“That puts me in a better position to be a bigger part of the squad at this tournament and I’ll do as much as I can to help England in the tournament.

“He just showed his belief and trust in me which is all a player wants to be honest. If a manager shows you a bit of love, it makes you play better.

“Long story short, it gives you confidence and that’s what it gave me so I just build on that.

“A lot of credit to Pochettino for giving me that opportunity to show Chelsea what I could do in the last season, hopefully there is still room for improvement.”

Chelsea considering push to renew Gallagher deal

Chelsea are considering a shift in their position over selling Conor Gallagher and could make a concerted effort to agree a new deal with the midfielder, according to The Guardian.

Gallagher, who is out of contract at the end of next season, remains a candidate to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and is wanted by Aston Villa and Tottenham.

However, Gallagher's preference is to remain at his boyhood club and it is understood that Chelsea are open to securing his future if there is a resumption in talks over a contract extension.

Gallagher is believed to be prepared to sit tight for another year and will not be pressured into a move that does not meet his requirements. He is believed to be lukewarm on the idea of being involved in a swap for Jhon Duran, with Chelsea interested in the Villa striker.

Chelsea retain interest in Villa striker Duran

Latest from Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth and Lyall Thomas:

Chelsea retain an interest in Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran.

Sky Sports News reported the Blues' interest in January and the Colombia international remains on a list of strikers they are looking at this summer.

Duran joined Villa from Chicago Fire in January 2023 and scored eight goals in 37 appearances.

Meanwhile, Villa have shown interest in Conor Gallagher, who has just 12 months remaining on his Chelsea deal.

Wolves, Southampton and Everton keen on Chelsea's Broja

Latest from Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas:

Wolves, Southampton and Everton are among the clubs interested in Armando Broja.

However, all three clubs need to raise funds to be able to sign the striker this summer.

Chelsea will listen to offers for Broja, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Fulham.

Wolves have a long-term interest in the Albania international but need to sell players to raise funds for a purchase of that size.

Southampton are also understood to have cast doubt on their ability to afford the striker on the current terms of a deal.

Everton also admire Broja but their extremely difficult financial situation remains, at least until a takeover of the club is completed.

According to Sky Italy, AC Milan are also interested in Broja and may look at signing him, regardless of what happens with their pursuit of Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.

Chelsea 'reignite Duran interest'

Chelsea have reignited their interest in Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Duran signed for Villa in a deal worth £18m in January 2023 and the 20-year-old scored eight goals last season.

Chelsea first monitored his availability in the January transfer window and the player is reportedly back on their radar as they work through their striker targets for this summer.

Previous option RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko looks set to sign a new contract at the club but the new deal won't include a release clause.

The Slovenia striker has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Bayern interested in signing Colwill - Sky Germany

Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg:

"Given Jonathan Tah has emerged as a target to join Bayern Munich, a lot of people will be wondering what this means for Levi Colwill given he was linked with a move to the club.

"Colwill has a long-term contract at Chelsea but he is still on Bayern's wish list. He's not just been there for a few days but weeks. He's definitely a target.

"He's a left-footer and they don't have a left-footer among their centre-backs. Eric Dier, Kim Min-jae, Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs de Ligt are all right-footers.

"The priority is to sign Tah, but if this deal fails then Colwill is the top alternative. I can't exclude that Bayern will look to sign Colwill in addition to Tah as De Ligt is available to be sold."

Jackson could miss start of pre-season campaign

Nicolas Jackson may not be fully fit for the start of Chelsea's pre-season campaign after suffering an ankle injury while playing for Senegal last week, according to the Daily Mail.

Everton chasing Broja - reports

Everton are in talks to sign striker Armando Broja from Chelsea in a £30m deal, according to Ben Jacobs.

The 22-year-old experienced a disappointing loan spell at Fulham during the second half of last season.

The Albania international made just eight substitute appearances under Marco Silva following his January arrival, failing to register a goal.

Chelsea only interested in selling Lukaku to Napoli

Chelsea are insisting Romelu Lukaku's £38m release clause for must be met, with no loan move being acceptable to the west London club.

Chelsea are led to believe Napoli can’t afford the player unless they sell striker Victor Osimhen.

Recently appointed Napoli manager Antonio Conte wants to bring Lukaku to Naples, although the Serie A only want a loan deal for the Belgium international and there is no chance of that happening — they will have to buy the forward outright.

If Napoli don’t meet Lukaku's £38m buyout clause, Chelsea will continue to discuss possible interest in the frontman from both the Saudi Pro League and from elsewhere in Europe.

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer following his release from Fulham.

AC Milan eye Broja

AC Milan are keen to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja but the Italian giants may need to sell before they can buy, according to The Sun.

Blues monitoring Everton striker Calvert-Lewin

De Ligt news will delight Man Utd fans

Sky Sports' Nick Wright at Wembley:

"Jonny Evans has served the club well since his return last year but his presence in the team today, at 36, combined with the injury to new signing Leny Yoro, underlines the need for reinforcements in central defence.

"Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt fits the bill. The Netherlands international is well-known to Erik ten Hag, his former boss at Ajax, and, at 24, he should have his peak years ahead of him.

"The deal to bring him to the club comes too late for any kind of involvement today, of course, but it is a timely boost ahead of the Premier League campaign, especially with Noussair Mazraoui set to follow."

Man Utd agree deal to sign De Ligt

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for the signing of defender Matthijs de Ligt in a deal worth €50m (€45m plus €5m in add ons).

Personal terms are not expected to be a problem.

The transfer is subject to De Ligt passing a medical.

He would need to be registered by midday on Thursday to be available for the opening match against Fulham on Friday.

In a separate deal, United have agreed many of the details of a deal for Bayern Munich’s right-back Noussair Mazraoui.

They are expected to proceed with that move once Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s transfer to West Ham United has been completed.

Antony: You'll hear my name next to goals and assists this season

Antony has vowed to blitz the Premier League this season by scoring more goals and registering more assists.

The Manchester United winger has just 11 goals and five assists in 82 appearances since joining for £82m.

“I have a lot of objectives, ones I write down for myself and many for this new season,” he said.

“I haven't been doing this for that long, but I'm doing it a lot more for this season. I have to do it for every game.

“Always on paper, in my house. I usually take the notes with me but if I leave them at home, I'll always ask my wife to send me a photo of them.

“There are a lot of things I note down in detail: how many shots I should be making in a game, I can't lose the ball, I need to score goals and create assists, pass and dribble completions as well as defensive performance, more work on the right foot. I have a lot of objectives.

“Rest assured, you'll hear the name Antony in relation to goals and assists.”

The Germany centre-back is determined to move to Bayern, but the German side are waiting to sell De Ligt to Man Utd before they progress with their move for Tah.

As it stands, there is a verbal agreement in place for Bayern to sign Tah for €30m (£25.69m).

However, there has been no official bid from Bayern (€25m + €5m) yet.

Ten Hag: We are ready to act in transfer market

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has said the club are "ready" to move in the transfer market when it is the "right moment" to do so.

United have signed Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee so far this summer.

They've been linked with a range of central midfield options, while there is also speculation over the future of a number of their players, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay of interest to fellow Premier League sides.

"When we have news we will announce it," said Ten Hag when asked about United's transfer situation. "You’ve seen the market it’s quite quiet but we have done two deals. It’s about timing and the market options. In the right moment do the right things.

"I don’t go into details of where we are now with recruitment and what we’re working on. Of course, we know what we’re doing, we’re in a good position with the squad and wait with patience."

Asked if the club now had to sell before they could buy, Ten Hag said: "No, we are ready. We have bought already.

"We have a squad where in every position there is double occupation."

Latest from Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth:

Bayern Munich are yet to budge on their €50m (£43m) asking price for Matthijs de Ligt.

United have explored separate and joint deals for Bayern Munich duo De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui – but as yet, no agreement.

While there is stalemate, Bayern can’t proceed with their move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.

A potential arrival would be less problematic if United could sell one of their centre-backs.

Meanwhile, there is cautious optimism a deal can be struck to sell right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham United.

A lot of the details between the clubs have been agreed. Contractual details and terms of his departure with United are still to be finalised.

Inter Milan remain keen on the player and have explored a deal that would see Denzel Dumfries go to Old Trafford.

As it stands, United prefer a sale to West Ham in order to pursue a deal with Bayern for Mazraoui.

Going back to the negotiating table has not been ruled out – but is likely to depend on PSG dropping their asking price.

Richard Rios of Palmeiras remains a player of interest – but his fee could prove prohibitive. Another option is Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, who United had on loan last season.

While not essential, ideally United would want to create squad space and increase budgets ahead of bringing in a player.

As it stands, Fulham are not expected to go back in for Scott McTominay. Galatasaray are interested but have yet to get close to United’s valuation.

Interest from Saudi Arabia in Casemiro has cooled for now.

Ten Hag confident Van Nistelrooy can help Man Utd forwards

Erik ten Hag believes Ruud van Nistelrooy could be crucial in turning Manchester United's strikers into attacking stars.

United's front line will be under pressure at the start of the season with Rasmus Hojlund set to miss the opening part of the season with injury, leaving new signing Joshua Zirkzee as the likely No 9 to start the campaign.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Antony endured a difficult campaigns last time out while there are also the young shoulders of Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo, who could play big roles.

“He will have an impact on the strikers, but he will also work in other areas so it’s not only limited to the strikers,” Ten Hag said of Van Nistelrooy. “I think the strikers will definitely benefit from it, but he will work in togetherness with Rene Hake to drive the team.

“They are two very experienced coaches who were both managers. They know how to coach a team, how to drive a team forward and to challenge the team [so] that they are ready to win games and to win trophies. We are very pleased that we have them both on board.

“He will help all the players, but in particular, of course the strikers can take benefit from him because he was such a great striker.

“He scored so many goals, he had so much success, so definitely he will help the strikers in different areas and definitely on the mental side, bringing over his desire to win games and by scoring goals.”

Asked if Van Nistelrooy can help Rashford get back to his best, Ten Hag replied: “I have no doubt. I have strong belief in the person. I have strong belief in his skills to help our team score goals but also to help our team, working as a team, and that mean we are attacking as an XI.

“He may be the one in the end who finishes but he is part of 11 players. We have to attack with 11 players and we have to defend with 11 players and the front players are the first defenders.”

Latest from Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth:

West Ham are still pushing to sign Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka which can have a domino effect on other deals.

The right-back is open to the move and personal terms not expected to be a problem. There is work to do on fee, structure and contractual details, though.

If a deal can be struck, United have a lot of the details in place to sign Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui.

United are also still hoping to find a compromise on the price for Matthijs de Ligt with Bayern holding firm on their €50m valuation.

Meanwhile, Bayern have a deal agreed in principle with Bayer Leverkusen to sign their defender Jonathan Tah.

If United can’t find an agreement with Bayern over De Ligt, then he’s likely to stay with Tah remaining at Leverkusen.

Mazraoui and De Ligt have the same representative and both want to make the move to Old Trafford.

Andre Onana has vowed to "take a lot risks" as his looks to build on a mixed first season at Manchester United.

The Cameroon international says he arrived at Old Trafford from Inter Milan last summer as the "best goalkeeper in the world" but often failed to live up to that moniker as United finished eight in the Premier League.

But with the start of the new campaign less than two weeks away, Onana said: "I will take a lot of risks. I can tell you in advance already.

"Be prepared because it’s going to be this season, trust me. I will enjoy it even more when this season starts."

He added: "The best team in the world takes risks. I will take a lot of responsibility and I think my back is huge to carry it all."

Despite a disappointing 2023/24 season - which led to United speaking to other manager before committing to Erik ten Hag - Onana insists his side can win trophies in the coming campaign.

"We already showed in the past games we can beat anyone so we’re going to fight to win everything," he said.

Latest from Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth and Adrian Kajumba:

Paris Saint Germain have held initial talks with Manchester United over the signing of Jadon Sancho.

Discussions were over the conditions of a potential deal. Sancho could be open to a move, with personal terms not expected to be a problem.

Dialogue is open between PSG and United as they have discussed Manuel Ugarte this summer.

United retain an interest in the midfield – but not at the prices being quoted by PSG.

United are aware PSG want to do business having just signed Joao Neves from Benfica for £50m.

Ugarte is keen on a move to Old Trafford but, in keeping with United's approach this summer, they are working on a number of other midfielders – including Monaco's Youssouf Fofana, Real Socieded's Martin Zubimendi, Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat and Burnley's Sander Berge.

Squad space will need to be created for United to go into the market for a midfielder. Fulham are deciding whether to go back in for Scott McTominay after having two bids rejected.

Manchester United's shirt sponsor Snapdragon is open to the possibility of securing naming rights to Old Trafford, should the club look to help finance a new stadium in that way, report The Athletic.

The tech brand signed a three-year deal to appear on the front of United's shirts in July and Don McGuire, chief marketing officer of Qualcomm, which owns Snapdragon, has said that partnership could be expanded.

"Old Trafford is Old Trafford, it should always be Old Trafford but if there is a brand attached to that in some way shape or form... we are working very closely with the team on the reimagining of Old Trafford from a technology and innovation standpoint, and Carrington (the club’s training ground), so if that leads to something bigger, where it would make sense for us to go even bigger, we are always looking out for opportunities.”

Last month Sky Sports reported the Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force has initially concluded that a new stadium build for United would be a more transformative option than redeveloping the existing ground.

It is reported that a new 100,000-seater stadium has been recommended - which would make it the largest in the UK.

Man Utd's injury worries continued during the overnight defeat to Liverpool.

Victor Lindelof was withdrawn as a precaution at the break, while illness got the better of Jonny Evans.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka - who has been linked with a summer move to West Ham - also went down in the 80th minute and was treated on the pitch before being replaced.

More concerningly, academy graduate Will Fish was stretchered off after a challenge with the Reds' Harvey Blair.

Marcus Rashford and Antony were then withdrawn with issues against Real Betis, although both went on to play some part in the loss to Liverpool.

The fresh concerns follow the news summer signing Leny Yoro has been ruled out for around three months with a foot injury, while Rasmus Hojlund will miss six weeks.

Erik ten Hag told MUTV: “We have to see what has gone on.

“The assessment, of course, with Will Fish is it’s an impact injury. We also had to sub Jonny Evans at half-time because he was ill. Victor Lindelof was a precaution. So, yeah, there are some injuries, but we have to see how bad it will be.

“Pre-season is always tough. But Harry Maguire, as a precaution, we leave him out.

“And we had, of course, some injuries, but that is part of club football. We have to develop our team and make some good progression.”

Ndoye impressed for his country at Euro 2024 in a wing-back role and the 23-year-old Bologna wide man has been linked with a move away.

"It is good that Manchester United are interested in Dan, and it is somehow logical as well," Ndoye's agent Fahd Adamson was quoted by The Sun.

"United belong to Ineos, and Dan has already played for the other Ineos-owned clubs in Nice and Lausanne.

"He received countless messages from English clubs after the quarter-final against England. Let's see what emerges from them.

"We must discuss Dan's future with him and his family. We need to weigh things up well, to prevent him making the wrong career move."

'Good is not good enough' - Ten Hag's challenge to Man Utd's players

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has told his players "good is not good enough" as he attempts to return the club to domestic and European prominence.

The Dutchman signed a two-year contract extension after guiding the club to FA Cup final glory against Manchester City at the end of last season, the second trophy of his reign.

As he gets back to work under new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe with sporting director Dan Ashworth now on board, Ten Hag has set his sights on the Premier League title and Champions League success.

Asked if there was anything different he wanted to do in an interview with MUTV, he said: "A lot because we won an FA Cup, we won a Carabao Cup, but also we have high expectations from ourselves.

United had gone six years without a major trophy before they beat Newcastle to lift the Carabao Cup in February last year, but even May's 2-1 victory over neighbours City at Wembley, which he said showed the club can "compete with the best", has not quenched Ten Hag's thirst for tangible success.

The club won the last of their 13 Premier League titles - they have been English champions 20 times in total - 11 years ago, while they last reached the pinnacle of European football in 2008.

Ten Hag said: "United didn't win, for over six years, a trophy. Now we've won two, but we are up for more and for higher titles, like the English title and even more, like going into Europe.

"That's a process that takes time, and we'll work on it. But I know with the set-up at the club, with the changes to the structure, and the changes to infrastructure here around Carrington, we will be ready for the future. We will improve.

"You feel it here, it gives a new energy, it gives a new dynamic and that will help us to achieve our targets. In the short-term, it stays the same: we want to win every game, and we have seen we are capable of beating everyone."

The changes in infrastructure involve an ongoing £50m redevelopment of the club's Carrington headquarters, to which the first players returned on Monday to be greeted by a challenge from Ten Hag.

He said: "In every season after a break, you will have surprises. We're looking forward, we're so curious: who is it this season, the surprise who can contribute to our team?

"Like last year, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho coming up and playing a big role. They are the two goalscorers in the final. Today, we started, but which player is there who can do the same?"

In the meantime, Mainoo and club-mate Luke Shaw will head into Euro 2024 semi-final battle with Ten Hag's native country in Dortmund on Wednesday evening.

Asked if he had spoken to the pair, he said: "Yeah, sure. Of course, it's a fantastic game coming. Both sides are playing in the semi-finals, at the highest level. I think everyone is really excited.

"Football is so important in culture in England, as it is in Holland. It will be a great match - let the best win!"

Juventus remain interested in Sancho

Latest from Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth:

Juventus remain interested in signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

It's thought they will have to sell players first to have a chance of meeting Man Utd's £40m valuation.

Borussia Dortmund would also like to sign him after his successful loan spell at the backend of last season, where he was a part of the side that reached the Champions League final.

But there is still a substantial gap between what Man Utd want and what Dortmund can afford.

Sancho has entered the final two years of his contract.

'Man Utd willing to let Van de Beek leave on the cheap'

Manchester United are so desperate to get rid of Donny van de Beek that they will let him go for next to nothing, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Dutch midfielder is on the verge of joining Spanish side Girona.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell is among the options Manchester United are considering as they look for competition for Luke Shaw, report the Daily Mail.

Shaw missed 26 Premier League games last season, including the final three months of the campaign.

However, the 28-year-old confirmed on Monday he is available to start for England in Wednesday night's Euro 2024 semi-final against Netherlands.

Almost 60,000 Bayern fans have now signed a petition calling on the club's bosses to keep De Ligt.

The petition states that "he is a world-class defender, probably the best in our squad" and has "a long and promising future ahead of him".

The defender is also praised for his "admirable maturity and mentality".

United legend Van Nistelrooy was under consideration for the Burnley job but returns to the club 18 years after departing for Real Madrid.

Hake, who worked with Ten Hag at youth level for FC Twente, joins from Go Ahead Eagles whom he led to ninth in the Eredivisie last season as head coach.

Van de Beek finally heading for Man Utd exit?

Manchester United are finally set to offload Donny van de Beek this summer according to reports in Spain.

The Netherlands international, 27, is contracted to United until the summer of 2025, but has only been a bit-part player since arriving at Old Trafford in 2020.

Neville: Composed Ashworth will help Ten Hag at Man Utd

Gary Neville believes the appointment of Dan Ashworth will steady the ship for Manchester United, and give Erik ten Hag, who signed a new deal at Old Trafford earlier this week, a better chance of succeeding at the club.

"It was a miserable season for Man Utd in the Premier League and if Ten Hag hadn’t won the FA Cup final he’d have been in big trouble," Neville told Sky Sports News.

"Winning against Man City, two trophies in two years. Man Utd flirted with other managers and decided they couldn’t find someone who could do the job better than Ten Hag.

"I’m happy in the end he stayed. He’s been given another contract to give him some strength. He had one year left and the idea of this ticking clock, we’d be asking him the question and the club every 10 minutes [if he only had a year on his contract].

"He’ll have to perform this season – this doesn’t let him off the hook. But I’m hopeful all the appointments around ETH - obviously the new CEO but particularly Dan Ashworth who brings composure, a key person in building the foundations of the new England look – we won’t get a situation where Man Utd are panicking in a transfer window and shooting from the hip as they have done in years gone by.

"It will be more measured. If they can’t get who they want they won’t buy anyone. They will make sure they’re quite focused and precise in what they do moving forward which should give Ten Hag more stability and advice around him which hopefully will help him."

Discussions are ongoing internally over whether United will pay the clause in full or negotiate a structure with Bologna.

Zirkzee is with Netherlands squad at Euro 2024 and made his first appearance of the tournament in Saturday night's quarter-final win over Turkey, coming on as a late substitute.

Who will be at Man Utd next season!? De Ligt, Rashford, Zirkzee?

Manchester United's pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee are both 'going positively' according to Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth, but their primary focus with Marcus Rashford is getting him back to his best form.

Man Utd continue 'positive' talks over Zirkzee and De Ligt moves

Manchester United's talks over the potential signings of Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt have been described as "positive".

United have made it clear they will meet the £34m release clause in Zirkzee's Bologna contract and are in discussions with the forward's representatives over personal terms.

Giovanni Sartori, Bologna's sporting director, said earlier this week that Zirkzee will "99.9 per cent leave this summer".

Discussions continue with Bayern Munich over a fee for De Ligt, who the German club value at £42.5m plus add-ons.

There is a growing feeling all parties want to conclude a deal for De Ligt.

Zirkzee and De Ligt are both in the Netherlands squad at Euro 2024 but are yet to feature in the tournament.

"We know it doesn't come overnight; we have to work for it. We are highly ambitious, so we have to raise our standards day by day, and improve every day.

"Every time, we have to live with the line in our head - good is not good enough. We have to do better."

De Ligt, Branthwaite and Yoro remain on Man Utd radar

Latest from Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth:

Matthijs de Ligt, Jarrad Branthwaite and Leny Yoro remain live options for Manchester United as they look to recruit in central defence.

United have made two bids for Everton defender Branthwaite and continue positive dialogue with Bayern Munich over De Ligt.

United are not commenting on reports in France claiming they’ve had a bid accepted by Lille for Yoro - but he is a target.

Real Madrid are also very keen to sign the 18-year-old.

'Chelsea's Chilwell on Man Utd's radar'

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell is among the options Manchester United are considering as they look for competition for Luke Shaw, report the Daily Mail.

Shaw missed 26 Premier League games last season, including the final three months of the campaign.

However, the 28-year-old confirmed on Monday he is available to start for England in Wednesday night's Euro 2024 semi-final against Netherlands.

Chilwell, 27, also only played 12 league games for the Blues in 2023/24.

There is still work to do before a deal is sealed, and Sky Sports News has been told that United have other live options, including Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Lille’s Leny Yoro.

Almost 60,000 Bayern fans have now signed a petition calling on the club's bosses to keep De Ligt.

The petition states that "he is a world-class defender, probably the best in our squad" and has "a long and promising future ahead of him".

Sky Sports News senior reporter Melissa Reddy:

United legend Van Nistelrooy was under consideration for the Burnley job but returns to the club 18 years after departing for Real Madrid.

Hake, who worked with Ten Hag at youth level for FC Twente, joins from Go Ahead Eagles whom he led to ninth in the Eredivisie last season as head coach.
