Tottenham Hotspur are working hard in the transfer market to strengthen their squad and raise funds by selling fringe players. The Lilywhites will play Leicester City in an away game at the King Power Stadium to start their new campaign.

However, the Premier League game and its result will not affect many of their ongoing transfer activities during this summer. Spurs have already signed forward Dominic Solanke and midfielder Archie Gray by paying a hefty price to strengthen their squad.

Furthermore, they are still assessing the transfer market to bolster the first team with a few more signings before the deadline day. Raising funds from the outgoing fringe players is a crucial part of the transfer business to maintain a healthy finance.

Spurs have already let go of players like Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon, Tanguy Ndombele, Ivan Perisic and Japhet Tanganga for free. Furthermore, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Bryan Gil also left in a loan transfer which reduces the wages but does not add any funds.

However, they can make crucial income by selling Sergio Reguilon during this summer amid interest from Fenerbahce. Reguilon made most of his appearances for the Lilywhites under Mourinho’s tenure and respects the Portuguese a lot.

Furthermore, the feeling of respect is mutual as Mourinho rates the Spaniard very highly, having praised him publicly many times. According to the Turkish publication SporX, Manchester United and Brighton want Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce during this summer.

The deal could allow the Turkish giants to pursue the target that Mourinho desires with Reguilon on top. The 27-year-old is a surplus to the requirements at the club, unable to compete with first-choice right-back Pedro Porro.

He spent last season in two loan spells for Man United and Brentford but both teams refused to buy him. A deal for Kadioglu could allow Reguilon and Spurs to part way in a deal that will be mutually beneficial. It will also allow Spurs to shift their focus to more important transfer activities.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is still evaluating his squad ahead of the new season that is commencing very soon. The Spurs’ Premier League season will begin at the King Power Stadium against newly promoted Leicester City on Monday night.

Postecoglou has secured some attractive signings Dominic Solanke and Archie Gray catching attention of the social media and football pundits. Meanwhile, the London club has also let many fringe players leave according to the tactical requirements of the Greek-Australian manager.

The loyal Lilywhite fans have a lot of anticipation and excitement for the new season, expecting continuous progress again. Postecoglou remains determined to push the club forward, making his ambitions clear since he joined last summer.

Spurs enjoyed qualifying for the Europa League competition last season to return to European football for the current season. Postecoglou needs a strong squad with depth to continue chasing the top four and go beyond while hunting for trophies.

Players who enjoyed the loan spell outside the club had the opportunity to impress Postecoglou during the pre-season tour. Djed Spence seized the opportunity with impressive performances in the friendlies.

Speaking to Football.London, Postecoglou highlighted that Spence has fit into the group really well to stamp his claim. He said:

“It’s one of those things that when you start pre-season, we had quite a few guys who were out on loan last year. Part of me is saying, OK, we need to keep evolving this squad. The guys go out on loan for a reason. Have they come back [and now] are they a better fit, are they part of what we’re doing? With Djed, I had an open mind. I certainly think the kind of characteristics he has would fit into our football. It’s then more about, OK, well he obviously didn’t fit last year, will he fit this year? He’s had a good pre-season. He’s trained really well. He seems to have fit into the group really well.”

The Lilywhites wanted AS Monaco’s Vanderson to replace Spence if he failed to impress the manager during the pre-season. However, the 24-year-old in just £25,000 per week wages has proved that he is a better choice than throwing big money for a second choice. It has emerged that Spurs have submitted an official bid of around €32m for the Brazilian.

Pedro Porro is the primary right-back for Postecoglou and a key part of the team, highly influencing the Spurs’ tactics. Porro needs a strong backup and someone who can challenge him to stay consistent at the highest level.

Spence has the quality and the maturity to act as a perfect backup and participate in rotation policy. As the season is very long, Spence could get sufficient game time to prove his naysayers wrong and establish himself.

Archie Gray can play as a make-shift right-back which secured the flank for the next season with strong depth. Postecoglou needs such depth in all departments so hopefully, other fringe and academy players can take note of Spence’s rise and work hard.

Tottenham Hotspur start their Premier League campaign away at King Power Stadium against newly promoted Leicester City on Monday night. The loyal Lilywhites fanbase are eagerly awaiting the debut of Dominic Solanke and Archie Gray, hoping for an instant impact.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou used last season to implement his philosophy but maintains the importance of progress and winning trophies. The Australian earned praise for his attacking style of play and winning mentality, giving hope to the Spurs fans.

Spurs are still active in the transfer market, seeking reinforcement to strengthen their squad and with many outgoing fringe players. Postecoglou needs to balance the squad correctly as the Europa League competition increases the fixtures compared to last season.

The situation became complicated when Yves Bissouma’s behaviour drew unwanted controversy, prompting the manager to suspend him. According to Daily Mail reporter Josh Hughes (The Spurs Chat Podcast via YouTube), the Spurs could sell Bissouma despite his importance. He said:

“Bissouma could be one that goes now. That is a new one, who might take him? I think there would be a lot of takers for him because there aren’t a huge amount of good players in that defensive midfield position.”

While Spurs have many midfield players competing for the two positions in the double pivot, Bissouma is still very important. The transfer market lacks defensive midfield options that are capable of replacing the 27-year-old and fitting Ange’s system quickly.

Bissouma currently earns £55,000 per week with the Lilywhites, which is a bargain for his talent. The Mali international featured in 28 matches under Postecoglou and played a key role in the Premier League campaign.

Despite Bissouma’s off-field antics, Postecoglou faces a tough decision in the coming weeks over the defensive midfielder. The Lilywhites are already assessing the market for an all-action midfielder and this situation would only make it a necessity.

Nevertheless, Spurs will face Leicester without Bissouma and that performance will also play a big role in the club’s decision-making. If the 27-year-old stays at the club after the summer window closes, he needs to understand that such behavioural issues are unacceptable.

There is excitement within Tottenham over the summer signing Archie Gray

Summer recruit Archie Gray will be hoping to make his competitive Tottenham Hotspur debut against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Monday evening.

The talented Englishman joined the Lilywhites for a fee of £40m from Leeds United earlier this summer, with defender Joe Rodon, who spent last season on loan at Elland Road, heading the other way for £10m.

Archie Gray, who made his senior debut for Leeds United last August, played a pivotal role in the club’s push for promotion to the Premier League, making 52 appearances across all competitions. Ultimately, the Whites’ hopes of returning to the top flight were extinguished following defeat to Southampton in the play-off final.

The 18-year-old, who is valued at around €18m, made the move to Spurs after Leeds had to make a sale before the deadline to comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). As Spurs sensed a deal could be done, they acted swiftly and sealed his signing in early July. Leeds’ loss is the North London club’s gain as we now have our hands on a teenage prodigy waiting to explode at the highest level.

The excitement is palpable within the club and fans regarding Gray’s talent and high potential. The Durham-born starlet’s primary strength lies in his versatility. Under the tutelage of Daniel Farke at Leeds last season, he demonstrated his ability to excel in both central midfield and at right-back.

Technically gifted and a good reader of the game regardless of being so young, Gray impressed in the pre-season tour of South Korea and demonstrated that he is more than ready to start games for Spurs. He can partner Pape Matar Sarr in the middle of the park as well as push first-choice right-back, Pedro Porro.

Big things are expected from the Englishman and we hope he fulfils his potential under the tutelage of Postecoglou, who is building an exciting team at N17 with some of the brightest talents in world football.

The Premier League 2024/25 season is set to kick-off this weekend but Tottenham Hotspur fans will have to wait a while as their side is the last team to take to the field this game week with Leicester City on the horizon.

Ange Postecoglou’s men play on Monday against the Foxed and will be hoping to get off to a winning start. The pre-season preparations were quite good for Spurs who managed to win most of their games with the exception of the Bayern Munich ones.

It’s an important game for Tottenham to set the tone right for a season from which their fans expect a lot of progress. So, how could Ange Postecoglou set his team up for this very important Leicester game?

For starters, there is no suspense with regards to what formation Postecoglou will use just like there is no suspense with regards to whole will start in goal. Guglielmo Vicario will start between the posts in the gaffer’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.

In front of the Italian shot-stopper is going to be a back-four comprising of Pedro Porro on the right, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in the middle and Destiny Udogie on the left. Should Udogie be unable to start yet, one could expect Van de Ven to move to the left with Dragusin coming in or even for Spence to start on the left.

Yves Bissouma is set to miss out on the Leicester game due to a disciplinary issue setting the stage up for Pape Matar Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur to start in midfield. Don’t count it past Ange though to start Archie Gray instead of the Uruguayan following his impressive pre-season. We think that’s the way the coach will go.

James Maddison is nailed in for the #10 role just like captain Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski are set to start from the left and right, respectively. We think new signing Dominic Solanke is going to get thrown straight into the deep end against the Foxes.\

Should Gray not start the game, he is almost certain to get minutes off the bench. Same with Solanke although the latter should start this game. Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner will get a run out too.

It’s important to set a tone in the very first game with a solid performance and let’s hope Tottenham can get past newly promoted Leicester and get off the mark for the season.

Chelsea humiliated Spurs in the Gallagher transfer negotiations

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to sign a midfielder in the ongoing summer transfer window as they look to build on the progress that Ange Postecoglou made at White Hart Lane in the last season. The North Londoners have been fortifying interests in multiple midfield dynamos along the off-season; however, none of those transfers have materialized with the commencement of the season just around the corner.

The Lilywhites have also lost Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, adding to the woes ahead of the upcoming season. Moreover, Gio Lo Celso has also been linked with a move away from the club, which adds to the needs at Tottenham.

The club had identified Conor Gallagher as a potential prime target coming into the summer transfer window; however, no move to N17 materialized for the England international despite aggressive links that insisted so.

Tottenham’s Gallagher dream shattered by Chelsea’s demands

The Australian gaffer wanted to team Solanke and Gallagher together at Spurs, per The Telegraph; however, the move did not come about.

This could be down to one particular criteria of the transfer—the money involved.

Daniel Levy had a particular price tag in mind and was willing to sit on the negotiations table hoping to land an agreement, while Chelsea did not want to see him go to a Premier League club unless a substantial premium is paid. The West Londoners did not quote Spurs a fee below £45m for the 24-year-old; however, in the contrast, they went on to agree to a £33.7m fee to sell Gallagher to Atletico Madrid.

Race against time

Chelsea have a history of being difficult to deal with when selling, and that could be attributable to how Arsenal and Manchester United caved into their transfer prices for Kai Havertz and Mason Mount last summer. While both clubs acquired top talents, Tottenham chose the other way around and are still looking for a new midfielder this summer.

Ten bold predictions for Tottenham Hotspur in the 2024/25 season

As the 2024/25 season kicks off, Tottenham Hotspur fans find themselves brimming with anticipation. Under the stewardship of Ange Postecoglou, Spurs are entering a new chapter, one filled with potential and the hope of finally ending their long wait for silverware. Last season was a mixed bag, with moments of brilliance and disappointment, but the signs are there that this squad is ready to take the next step.

We have exciting new players to add to the existing talent and a boss who remains totally committed to his attacking football philosophy. There’s a real sense that something special could be brewing in the white half of North London.

Postecoglou’s challenge will be to maintain the high standards and consistency needed to navigate the ups and downs of a Premier League campaign, while also balancing the demands of other competitions. In that spirit, here are ten bold predictions for what could be in store for Tottenham Hotspur in 2024/25.

It has been a long wait, a very long one at that. 16 years without any silverware to celebrate. But this could be the season where Spurs finally break their trophy drought. With the depth added to the squad and Postecoglou’s attacking philosophy, Spurs are well-equipped to mount a serious challenge in domestic cup competitions. The FA Cup or Carabao Cup could provide the perfect platform for the club to lift some long-awaited silverware, and it might just be the breakthrough moment that sets the tone for future success.

Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro have already shown glimpses of their potential, but this season they could establish themselves as the Premier League’s most formidable full-back pairing. Both players are dynamic, aggressive, and comfortable in both defensive and attacking roles. With Udogie’s relentless energy on the left and Porro’s technical prowess on the right, they will not only provide defensive solidity but also contribute significantly in the final third, racking up assists and even a few goals between them. There are all signs that they shall eclipse their record of a combined 16 G/A [five for Udogie and 11 for Porro] from last season, and by far.

James Maddison has already become a fan favourite at Spurs, and this season he’s set to elevate his game even further. Operating as the creative hub in Postecoglou’s system, the 27-year-old Englishman will not only be a key player for Tottenham but also one of the standout performers in the league. He scored four goals and secured nine assists in 30 appearances across all competitions last season. Expect him to contribute heavily with goals and assists once again, earning him a well-deserved spot in the PFA Team of the Year. If not for his unfortunate ankle injury last season, Tottenham could have surely done better than they eventually did. This time though, Madders will have the drive in his mind to duplicate his form from early last season and by all means, surpass it too.

After his big-money move from Bournemouth, Solanke will surely be ready to prove himself at a top club after lacklustre spells early on in his career at Chelsea and Liverpool. With the creative forces of Maddison, Son, and Kulusevski behind him, Solanke will thrive as the focal point of Spurs’ attack. A 25 G/A haul across all competitions is well within his reach as we saw last season. [25 G/A in 42 appearances across all competitions.] He might as well improve on that and give us 25 goals exclusively overall. Silencing any doubters and establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s top strikers will likely be his priority this term.

As tough as it is to see beyond the Gunners as potential Premier League winners at the end of the season, they are no different than Spurs in succumbing to pressure. It’s always a bold claim, but this could be the season Tottenham finish above their North London rivals. Spurs have the potential to edge Arsenal out, especially if the key players stay fit and perform consistently. A top-four finish is well within reach, and finishing above Arsenal would be the icing on the cake for Spurs fans.

Yves Bissouma had a mixed first season at Tottenham, but under the staff’s guidance, he could become one of the league’s most dominant midfielders, especially with his versatility. With a full pre-season and a clear role in the team, Bissouma stands poised to make a huge impact, excelling in breaking up play, driving the team forward, and contributing to both defensive and attacking phases. We have yet to see him play like he did during his time at Brighton, and once he starts getting consistent minutes and gains more confidence, he might as well become one of the league’s best-performing players in the middle of the park.

Not only will he break into the first team, but he will take the opportunity with both hands and impress the most hardcore Tottenham hater. He is one of the most exciting young talents in English football. This season, he could make a significant breakthrough into the first team. With Postecoglou known for trusting young players, Moore could see substantial minutes in cup competitions and even the Premier League, potentially becoming a key squad member by the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will become a fortress this season. With the fans fully behind Postecoglou’s attacking style, Spurs will dominate at home, turning their ground into one of the most difficult places for visiting teams. This home form could be crucial in their push for a top-four finish or even a title challenge, making the stadium a true cauldron of noise and support. It is all about replicating our form from early in the season and trying to be as consistent as possible. All our problems have that one solution.

Something gives the vibes of a consistent Spurs side, for a change. That has often been Tottenham’s Achilles’ heel, but this season could see them put together a formidable unbeaten run. With the squad looking more balanced and Postecoglou’s philosophy starting to take full effect, with a balanced approach of course, Spurs are capable of going on a streak of 15 or more games without a loss. This run could be crucial in their push for a top-four finish and potentially challenge the traditional powerhouses of the Premier League.

This might seem like an obvious target, but given the competitiveness of the Premier League, it’s still a bold prediction. Tottenham will secure a top-four finish, returning to the Champions League after quite an absence. Honestly, this would seem like the bare minimum, but it is what it is.

Spurs have the potential to achieve something special this season—whether that’s winning silverware, breaking into the top four, or simply restoring pride in North London. Let’s see what the 24/25 season has in store for us.
