Tottenham Hotspur could look to make a deal with AC Milan in the summer transfer window, with two players exchanging positions from the Premier League to San Siro - as Fikayo Tomori has been touted for a move to the English capital, with Rodrigo Bentancur going the other way.
Bentancur has only started in 19 Premier League games this season, scoring twice in the league - and having made 107 appearances for Tottenham in five years, he's been a dependable member of Ange Postecoglou's squad. But Tottenham need to strengthen in other positions, and Tomori could be available for a switch - with the Uruguayan potentially on his way to Italy.
Report: Tottenham Could Swap Bentancur for Tomori
Defensive recruits are needed in north London
The report by Spazio Milan states that the San Siro outfit could look to close an important deal with Spurs - with Tomori and Bentancur potentially being used in a swap deal.
Milan's recent form in Serie A has been poor, winning just four of their previous 10 games in the top-flight, dropping as low as ninth in the table - and although they have made the final of the Coppa Italia alongside winning the Supercoppa in early January, it's still been a massively disappointing campaign. As a result, many changes are expected in terms of the squad in the coming weeks - and Tomori could be one star cut from their current squad to make way for another player.
The player in question is Bentancur; Milan need new defensive recruits, and with Tottenham needing a new centre-back through the door, it's an exchange that could 'intertwine' with Postecoglou's needs for the 'exceptional' defender.
Tomori was previously linked with Tottenham last summer, and in January, though any negotiations broke down - and the England international has now reached the 'final stages' of his time in Lombardy after a 'disappointing' season, where he could say goodbye to the San Siro outfit after joining five seasons ago.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Fikayo Tomori has made five caps for England.
With 172 appearances for the Rossoneri since his loan deal that turned permanent back in 2021, Tomori has been a dependable member of their squad, winning the Serie A title back in 2021/22 - and Tottenham will need that experience in their side. Tomori lived in London as a youngster, coming through Chelsea's academy, making 27 appearances for the Blues - and a return to the capital could be on the cards yet again.
