Tottenham handed boost in their hopes of landing Dominic Calvert

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been linked with a switch to Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur invested well in the summer transfer window to bring in some highly regarded youngsters with potential to reinforce the squad. However, results have been extremely inconsistent and improvements are certainly required to boost their top-four hopes in the second half of the campaign.

Having signed young talents such as Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray on top of breaking the club transfer record for Dominic Solanke, the chiefs at the Hotspur Way are looking to make further alterations to Ange Postecoglou’s squad at the turn of the year.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Everton centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of the January transfer window. The England international will become a free agent at the end of the season (Transfermarkt), meaning he is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January 1 onward.

-> Tottenham eyeing bargain move for £100k-a-week Merseyside striker

In what is a boost to Spurs’ hopes of landing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown claims that Everton will listen to offers for their striker in January in an attempt to raise some funds. The Toffees are now interested in signing a replacement for the 27-year-old, although it will be difficult to find a buyer for him midway through the season.

-> Tottenham set to cut ties with 88 minute ace as £40m move to Everton looms

Brown’s latest update is good as a boost Spurs could get in potentially landing Calvert-Lewin for a bargain fee. Calvert-Lewin has made it clear that he has no intentions to sign a new deal at Goodison Park by rejecting multiple contract proposals. He wants to end his eight-year association with the Toffees, having arrived as a teenager from Sheffield United back in 2016.

The English striker has struggled with injury problems in the last couple of years, affecting the speed with which he was developing at one point. Yet, at 27, he has time to resurrect his career and a change in scenery may help.

Calvert-Lewin may be enticed by the prospect of playing for Tottenham and competing in Europe, although he will have to settle for a backup role with Solanke the first-choice striker under Big Ange. The Lilywhites desperately need a striker as a cover for Solanke, and on a potential bargain fee in January, Calvert-Lewin would be a sensible acquisition.

Tottenham set to approach agents of Wolves star Matheus Cunha

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a hugely inconsistent season, with their latest 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth leaving Ange Postecoglou and the fans frustrated.

It was a poor performance and the result left the Lilywhites 10th in the Premier League table. A glut of injuries to key players have had a huge impact on Spurs’ performances. The attacking unit has been stretched following injuries to Richarlison and Wilson Odobert, whereas academy kid Mikey Moore has been out since last month with a bad virus.

Richarlison enduring another injury-hit campaign means Ange Postecoglou has had no option to rotate with club-record acquisition Dominic Solanke, who is yet to demonstrate his prolific goalscoring ability of last season at Bournemouth.

-> Bryan King expects Tottenham to fork out at least £40million for PL star

With Son Heung-min now 32 and no more the force he once was during his prime, the North Londoners must seek attacking reinforcements during the upcoming January transfer window.

According to an exclusive report from FootballTransfers, Tottenham are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha. They are prepared to contact the forward’s entourage ahead of a possible swoop next month.

Matheus Cunha has been exceptional for Wolves thus far this season, amassing seven goals and three assists in 14 Premier League appearances. The Brazilian international’s sizzling displays have got him into the radar of several Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Arsenal.

The 25-year-old has a contract at Molineux until June 2027 (Transfermarkt), but Wolves are seemingly facing a huge battle when it comes to keeping hold of him for long due to the growing interest in his services. The aforementioned report adds the Wanderers are eager to offer him a new contract and make him the highest-paid player at the club. This signals the Black County outfit’s desire to retain Cunha.

-> Tottenham set to cut ties with 88 minute ace as £40m move to Everton looms

Nonetheless, a move to Spurs will certainly be appealing for Cunha, with the Lilywhites looking to bring in competition for Solanke when it comes to the centre-forward spot. The Brazilian appears good enough for a club like Tottenham, having performed extremely well at Wolves since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2023.

The chiefs at the Hotspur Way would do well to bring in an alternative to Solanke, and Cunha increasingly looks like a safe bet. At White Hart Lane, he would also certainly be an upgrade on the injury-prone Richarlison, who is expected to be transfer-listed by Daniel Levy in 2025.

Famous journo claims Tottenham should have sold Richarlison in the summer

Tottenham star Richarlison was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur have had several issues with player availability this campaign.

Injuries have started piling up in recent weeks, directly affecting the team’s performance levels. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is the latest player to enter the treatment room, joining Richarlison and Wilson Odobert on the sidelines for months.

As far as Richarlison is concerned, Ange Postecoglou has been without his services since Spurs’ 4-1 win over Aston Villa. The Brazilian forward has barely played this season, clocking only 88 minutes across five Premier League games so far this term, thereby, failing to provide backup for club-record signing Dominic Solanke.

-> Postecoglou reveals ‘frustrating’ aspect of managing Tottenham star who can make an ‘impact’

Tottenham confirmed last month that Richarlison had suffered a “significant hamstring injury” and would be out “long-term”, having only just returned from a two-month absence due to a groin problem. This is his eighth injury since arriving at the North London club from Everton in the summer of 2022.

The South American star was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the past summer transfer window; however, he was not keen to make the move to the Middle East. Instead, he decided to stay at Spurs and fight for his position under Ange Postecoglou.

Now, The Athletic journalist Jay Harris claims that Tottenham should have cashed in on Richarlison over the summer owing to his fitness issues and chronic inconsistency.

-> Fitness set to determine Tottenham star’s future in North London; January exit possible

Indeed, Big Ange had no options on the bench to change the game against Fulham as Spurs’ lack of attacking depth laid bare. They looked devoid of bite and ideas to unlock the Cottagers’ defence again, leading to another tale of dropped points at home.

It is a real shame that Richarlison has not been able to live up to the lofty expectations of the White Hart Lane faithful. While the Brazilian showed a competitive attitude by rejecting a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League and staying at N17, the chiefs at the Hotspur Way must devise a plan to get him off the club’s books in January or after the end of the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has been linked with a potential Hotspur Way exit as the frustrations among the Spurs camp continue to grow amid the Brazilian’s injury and consistency struggles.

The North Londoners spent a hefty £60m to land the former Watford star from Everton in what was seen as a highly anticipated transfer, albeit it has not been anywhere near as initially expected with Richy struggling to find his feet at White Hart Lane. He has barely scored 16 goals donning the Lilywhites badge, and his injury struggles have seen him spend the majority of his time in North London in the treatment room.

To put that into context, the 27-year-old has only played barely 88 minutes in the ongoing Premier League campaign, and he has been subject to links with a move away from N17.

£40m Everton return on the horizon for Richarlison?

John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, insists that Richarlison’s former side Everton could come into the picture with a potential £40m transfer for the Brazilian international. He goes on to insist that the North Londoners will likely accept a cut price fee for Richy in the upcoming 2025 transfer intervals.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, the podcast host said:

“I could see Everton trying to re-sign Richarlison. He could be the perfect signing for when they move into their new stadium. A big statement transfer, and a player who loves Everton.

“However, what could they offer, probably £40million at the absolute maximum? Even if they offered £30million, I’d still say Tottenham should cut their losses and accept that.”

It is becoming increasingly evident that the Lilywhites will be looking to call it quits and find a way to sell Richarlison in the upcoming windows. And if Everton (or any other club in that matter) comes with a bid of around £40m, then Daniel Levy would be willing to cut his losses.

Tottenham eyeing swoop for Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams

Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer dealings has had its fair share of hits and misses over the last few years. Johan Lange is now leading the club’s recruitment drive and helped the North Londoners make some exciting signings during the past summer transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have been underwhelming this season, failing to hit top form due to several injury problems. The attacking department has largely been hit with injuries, with players such as Richarlison, Mikey Moore and Wilson Odobert currently sidelined. Son Heung-min has missed a few games with a hamstring concern as well, thus accentuating Spurs’ need for a wide forward.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham are among seven clubs interested in signing Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams. The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and PSG are all monitoring his development at San Mames.

-> Tottenham expert says £42.8m Nico Williams transfer will spell end for one of Ange Postecoglou’s signings

Nico Williams emerged as one of Europe’s most promising wingers last season, scoring eight goals and providing 19 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for Athletic Bilbao. He made significant contributions that helped Spain win the 2024 European Champions in Germany, where he scored the opening goal in the final against England and recorded three goal involvements in the tournament.

The Pamplona-born talent has not been as productive as last season, registering just a goal and three assists in 13 La Liga appearances to date. Yet, there has been no shortage of interest in Nico Williams, who has a €58 million release clause in his contract that expires in June 2027 (Transfermarkt).

A versatile forward, the Spanish international can operate on either flank but has predominantly featured on the left for Athletic Bilbao this season. Tottenham must seek a new left-winger next year, given the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Son Heung-min and Timo Werner, and Richarlison’s injury problems.

-> Tottenham keen to add €55million cheat-code to Ange Postecoglou’s roster

Son is in the final year of his contract and has yet to be handed a new deal. The chiefs at the Hotspur Way are planning to exercise a 12-month extension in the South Korean’s contract rather than offering him fresh terms as they aim to keep their wage bill intact. Spurs are yet to decide whether to sign Werner permanently from RB Leipzig having re-signed him on a season-long loan in June.

While the Lilywhites have invested in Wilson Odobert and agreed on a deal with Gangwon FC for South Korean talent Yang Min-hyeok, who is poised to arrive in January, we must still continue bringing in the best talents in world football and that includes Williams.

Ange Postecoglou gives latest injury update on Cristian Romero

Cristian Romero has not featured for Tottenham since mid-November

Tottenham Hotspur have endured an underwhelming campaign thus far, with Ange Postecoglou grappling with injuries and frustrating displays.

The Lilywhites’ chronic inconsistency have raised eyebrows among fans and pundits alike, leading to debates about what changes the club needs to make in January to achieve some sort of stability. Much of the inconsistency stems from a mixture of key players being in the treatment room and others struggling to hit top form.

-> Tottenham Injury News: First XI star unfit to finish 90 minutes against Bournemouth

Cristian Romero is among several key Tottenham players currently sidelined with a knee injury. The Argentinean international has not featured for Spurs since the shock 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town before the November international break.

He teamed up with the national team over the last international break of the year, but after managing only 45 minutes in Argentina’s 2-1 defeat to Paraguay, the Argentina medical team decided to release him early from the camp. Ange Postecoglou had hoped Cristian Romero could return to training this week, with injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar claiming the defender will be unlikely to feature for 90 minutes against Bournemouth on Thursday evening in the Premier League.

Now, the Spurs boss has dropped the latest injury update on the centre-back. Speaking to the media on Wednesday morning from Hotspur Way, Postecoglou confirmed Romero will not be available to face Bournemouth.

-> Tottenham speeding up efforts to tie down first XI star to a new contract

Romero has been undoubtedly working hard behind the scenes to recover fully and make himself available to Big Ange, who has been without his preferred centre-back pair over the last few fixtures. That coupled with Guglielmo Vicario’s long-term injury means Big Ange’s squad is severely stretched at the moment.

Spurs’ defensive lynchpin, Romero may have not been in the best of forms this season but having him in the team certainly makes a massive difference. The Cordoba-born star plays with the heart of his sleeves, complementing the calm and composed Van de Ven in central defence. So, both missing out again is a huge blow for Big Ange and Tottenham.

Manchester City will allow Tottenham target Liam Delap to seal Etihad exit

Tottenham are among several clubs monitoring Liam Delap at Ipswich Town

Tottenham Hotspur are experiencing several injury issues which are really testing the depth of Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

As a result, managing all three competitions has been a struggle for Ange Postecoglou, with the Lilywhites sustaining a number of injury problems to some of their key players. And one of those is Richarlison.

Richarlison has barely played this season, struggling with knee and hamstring issues. When fully fit and running, the Brazilian is a quality player to have in the squad. However, Postecoglou needs players who are regularly available for selection, and unfortunately, he isn’t one of them.

-> Manchester City backed to decide the future of ‘powerful’ Tottenham transfer target

Richarlison’s absence means record-signing Dominic Solanke has had to singlehandedly shoulder the responsibility of leading the Tottenham attack this season. And while he has performed reasonably well, Solanke needs rest at regular intervals to avoid burnout. Spurs have a lot of games across various competitions to cover this season and Big Ange will want the English striker to be healthy until May.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday morning from the Hotspur Way, the 59-year-old tactician admitted that the club has to plan to reinforce the striker department during the winter window in the wake of supporting Solanke.

As per recent reports, Spurs are keeping tabs on Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. The 21-year-old has been in superb form for newly promoted Ipswich Town since arriving from Manchester City in the summer, scoring six goals and assisting once in 14 Premier League games.

Former Liverpool and Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy has backed the young Englishman to emulate Harry Kane’s heroics if he were to move to Tottenham. However, the North Londoners will be in for a lot of competition from Premier League rivals for Liam Delap.

-> Breakout Premier League star touted to be Tottenham’s answer to replacing Harry Kane

Now, Spurs and several interested parties have been handed a big boost in the pursuit of the Ipswich Town star. According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Manchester City are not expected to be a thorn for clubs trying to sign Delap from the Tractor Boys in the future.

The Sky Blues are in control of the 21-year-old’s future, having inserted a buy-back option when allowing him to depart the club for Ipswich. City could decide to trigger the buy-back clause and then sell the English striker for a healthy profit, but as things stand, the defending Premier League champions are not interested in bringing Delap back.

Thus, if Spurs are ambitious and want to send a statement across the Premier League, Daniel Levy must loosen his purse strings in January and sign Delap. The ex-Man City youngster has given glimpses of his potential in Town colours and he could become one of the best strikers in the English top flight if groomed properly.

Tottenham Hotspur suffer blow in Tah pursuit

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to sign a central defender in the upcoming winter transfer window given how the Lilywhites are thin on options at the heart of defence, and the North Londoners have been subject to links with a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

Ange Postecoglou has been looking to sign a new CB for a while now, given the lack of depth in the centre-back role at White Hart Lane, and with the German defender out of contract at the end of the ongoing season, multiple clubs, including Spurs, had been looking to pry his signature away from the Bundesliga club in January.

However, per a recent report from Give Me Sport, the Bundesliga champions are highly unwilling to sanction a departure for the German international in the winter window and reiterate the fact that the 28-year-old will stay at BayArena until the end of the season.

Can Tottenham hold off Tah till summer?

Spurs are willing to multiply on Tah’s €54,423-a-week wages if the player does end up moving to N17, and with the North Londoners currently lacking reliable depth at the heart of defence, it makes sense that the Australian head coach would be keen on bringing a player of the German’s calibre.

That being said, while it is important for Tottenham to bring in a centre-back when the winter transfer window comes, Daniel Levy must be looking to balance the urgency of signing a player with the potential financial setback. If Spurs can strengthen elsewhere (possibly midfield or a centre-back on loan) in January and try to hold off on Tah until the summer window, the Lilywhites can bring in a major defensive upgrade without paying a penny.

Club insider believes Richarlison can move to Saudi Pro League

Description

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has been speculated with a move away from White Hart Lane given his inconsistencies at N17, with the former Everton ace only managing to pull up in the Lilywhites badge for 88 minutes in the English top tier this season.

The Brazilian has suffered problems staying fit, and when fit, making an impact since moving to North London in a highly anticipated transfer that set back Spurs £60m of the king’s finest in 2022.

Richy had been subject to links with a move to the Saudi Pro League in the previous summer transfer window; however, he somehow managed to avoid the summer overhaul and find a way to stay at Hotspur Way. Though not for long, as John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, insists that Daniel Levy will be looking to cut ties with the 27-year-old in 2025.

Saudi to knock on Tottenham doors again for Richarlison?

The podcast host believes that a club from the Saudi Pro League could come out with a probable £60 million offer to take away Richarlison from Spurs books. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“When he is fit and available, I really like Richarlison. I think he is a good player who could contribute a lot to the team, especially considering how versatile he is. However, for whatever reason, he isn’t ever available for selection.

“He can’t seem to get himself fit to consistently play football matches. Therefore, I think it is time for him to be sold. In terms of clubs that might be interested, if it is in the Saudi market, Spurs could recover what they paid for him, and receive an offer of £60m.”

Richy’s time at N17 is looking increasingly uncertain at the moment, especially given how he has been struggling to find consistency on the pitch and remain fit and the fact that he is yet to live up to expectations despite his hefty fee pushes conversations for a probable move away.

For Tottenham, it looks like moving him on would be a necessary step in streamlining the squad, especially given the fact that Levy is already looking to find a replacement who fits better into Ange Postecoglou’s playing style and evolving roster.

Merson makes surprising Bournemouth vs Tottenham prediction

Tottenham Hotspur will be taking on Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in Gameweek 14 of the Premier League in a late kick-off tomorrow night, and Ange Postecoglou’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways after dropping points against Fulham at White Hart Lane last weekend.

The Cherries enjoyed a 4-2 away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend while Spurs struggled to capitalise on Tom Cairney’s red card and settled for a draw against Fulham. And Arsenal icon Paul Merson insists that the Lilywhites are set to drop points once again when they travel to Bournemouth.

Merson predicted Spurs to lose against Fulham; however, that wasn’t the case with points shared. However, he was right when he suggested that the game wouldn’t be as straightforward against the West Londoners.

Merson foresees tough challenge for Tottenham against Bournemouth in Gameweek 14

Going into GW14, the 56-year-old thinks Tottenham’s inconsistency will come to the surface once again. Writing in his column for SportsKeeda, he predicted a 2-1 win for the hosts:

“Spurs were expected to kick on after that 4-0 win over Manchester City. But they have actually been quite disappointing in draws against mid-table sides like Roma and Fulham.

“I don’t usually go against Tottenham a lot in my predictions, but I’m changing that here because they’ve been frustrating to watch since that win over City. I’m backing Bournemouth to get the win on home turf.”

The North Londoners certainly have the quality in the ranks to easily overcome a team like Bournemouth; however, Spurs have struggled away from home, and a lack of killer instinct in front of goal can compound into another slip-up.

For Tottenham, a win is very important if they are to keep the top-four hopes alive, and Ange’s side will need to prove that they can handle the pressure and deliver a result in matches like these. However, if Merson’s prediction rings true, there will be massive doubts among the Spurs faithful about the Lilywhites ability to compete at the highest level in the ongoing campaign.
